Seth and Sarah: Boyfriend Introduction
Sarah stood somewhat anxiously, eyes continuously darting towards the entrance of the diner she was sitting in with Seth. Today was the day that she was going to introduce Seth as her boyfriend to her two friends, Anna and Kelsey. She was nervous and thought that a good place to meet would be the local diner in Forks, the one her grandfather would frequent before her mother moved to Forks when she was a teenager. Seth had already met her friends, but this time it would be different. She was introducing him as her boyfriend, and who knew what they would think.
Seth, seeing how anxious Sarah was in the booth next to him, grabbed hold of her hand and gave it a gentle squeeze. Smiling down at her he said, "Don't be so nervous, Sarah. Besides, they've met me before, so it won't be all bad."
"Yeah, but they only know you as my best friend that they'd tease me about. You're actually my boyfriend now and I have no idea what they'll think this time around," Sarah said in reply.
Giving her a reassuring kiss on her forehead, Seth said, "Hey, it'll be fine. From what you've told me of them, your friends are nothing if not loyal."
That was true. Kelsey and Anna were fiercely loyal to Sarah as her friends, always willing to protect her if needed and supported her in all her endeavors and ideas, even if some of them were crazy. They would tease her about Seth—Anna especially—calling him her boyfriend even when he hadn't been but had never not discouraged her in pursing anything. But now, now she had no idea what they would think now that all they're teasing had come true.
The door to the diner opened and Kelsey and Anna stepped inside. They looked around for a moment before spotting their friend in a booth with Seth. Sliding into the booth across from the couple, Anna greeted with a smile, "Hey!"
"Hi," Sarah replied, her leg beginning to shake with nerves.
Kelsey looked between Sarah and Seth before asking, "So what's this meeting about?"
Sarah looked up at Seth for a moment before taking a deep breath and looking back at her friends. "Anna, Kelsey, I wanted to introduce you to Seth."
"We know him," Anna replied in confusion.
"Yes, but this time, I'd like to introduce him as my boyfriend. Seth and I are dating now."
Chocolate brown eyes watched the two girls, Sarah biting her lip nervously as Anna and Kelsey stared between her and Seth. A minute of silence went by before Anna grinned and poked Kelsey in the shoulder saying, "I told you!"
Kelsey rolled her eyes with a small smile saying, "Yes, yes, you did. Congratulations Anna, you were right."
Sarah stared at them in shock, surprised that they weren't freaking about. "You guys aren't going to freak out or anything?"
"Why would I?" Kelsey asked. "It didn't matter to me if you were dating Seth or not. He's your best friend and now he's your boyfriend. I know you're happy about it, though."
"And as for me, I'm just ecstatic that I was right all along," Anna said with a grin.
The Black girl stared in disbelief at her friends while Seth simply chuckled and shook his head in amusement. He had told Sarah she was freaking out over nothing, and he had been right. Turning towards her, he decided to tell her the same saying, "I told you that you had nothing to worry about."
Sarah looked up at the man before smiling and nodding. "Yeah, I guess you were right."
"You guess?"
Giggling, Sarah replied, "Okay, you were completely right."
Kelsey smiled at the two before a smirk spread on her lips. Getting Seth's attention, she said, "You know, she'd doodle your name in her notebook in class all the time with hearts and crap."
"Kelsey!"
Anna nodded and said, "Oh yeah, she was hopelessly in love with you and still is."
"Anna!"
"When she stopped the doodling, we knew something had changed."
Sarah practically stood over the table as she slapped her hands over her friends' mouths. Glaring at them she hissed, "Shut up!"
Seth laughed and asked, "Really? That's surprising to hear."
Yanking Sarah's hand away, Anna said, "Oh yeah, she did. She has a whole notebook dedicated to her doodles and fantasies about you."
"Screw you, Anna," Sarah said glaring at her.
Seth, Anna, and Kelsey simply laughed, Seth wrapping his arm around Sarah's shoulders and holding her close, kissing the top of her head sweetly. Pretty soon her friends decided to stop teasing her and soon the four of them were all talking, deciding to eat while being there as well. Of course, being her friends, Kelsey and Anna kind of interrogated Seth about his intentions with their friend, even though from what they knew of him from Sarah, they really had nothing to worry about; it was protocol, damn it! But overall, they all had a good time.
An hour later, Anna and Kelsey took their leave, telling Sarah they would see her at school the next day. Seth and Sarah themselves decided to head back to La Push and left the diner before getting into the Shifter's car and leaving town. On the way back, Sarah said after a bit of silence, "Well, that went better than I expected."
"You have some really good friends, Sarah," Seth said as he drove, smiling over to the girl. "Definitely keep them in your life."
"I don't plan on them being anywhere else. Besides, they were adamant about being my friend when I first met them in middle school, and now I can't imagine my life without them in it."
Seth nodded in understanding, thinking it sweet that Sarah thought so much of her friends. Then again, Sarah thought a lot of those that she cared about, no matter who they were. It was one of the many things he loved about Sarah, among other things. Pretty soon they crossed over into La Push and it wasn't long before he pulled up in front of Sarah's home.
Putting the car in park for a moment, Seth looked over at Sarah and said, "I've got to go now. It's my turn to patrol tonight with Paul, so I've got to get a nap in before I do."
Nodding Sarah said, "Okay, that's fine. I'll see you in the morning, right?"
"Of course."
Sarah grinned and made to get out of the car but stopped. Instead, she turned in her seat and leant towards Seth, kissing him sweetly on the lips. Seth smiled and returned the kiss. The moment however, was interrupted by an abrupt tapping on the windshield. Breaking the kiss, both Sarah and Seth's eyes widened as they saw Jacob standing at the front of the car, an eyebrow raised with his arms crossed.
Knowing they could hear him, Jacob commanded, "Sarah, inside now. Seth, I'll see you before your shift tonight."
"O-Okay," Sarah stammered, giving a brief wave to Seth as she got out of the car and closed the door.
The moment Seth had driven away, Sarah turned to her father and began, "Dad-"
"You know, I thought your mother had been lying when she mentioned you had had your first kiss with Seth. But now I see she was telling the truth," Jacob said. Looking down at his daughter he asked, "When was this made official?"
"A few weeks ago."
Jacob nodded once before saying, "Get inside, we'll discuss it more then."
Sarah sighed and nodded before doing as her father said. She had been dreading this discussion, but it seemed it was finally going to happen. Her father liked Seth and trusted him, no doubt, but it was different when he was dating his daughter, i.e. her. Oh well, at least the introduction with her friends had gone alright.
