RWMtB: Ever After

Jacob and Bella: Hospital Visit

Jacob looked at his wife who was curled up on the seat next to him, her arms circled around her stomach as her head was laid against his shoulder. A grimace of pain was present on her face and she looked pale, almost green, and was perspiring a bit. Bella was sick and had been throwing up since last night. He had been so worried about her, and even more so when she could barely stand and had ultimately collapsed in the hallway. In that instant, he had picked her up and had quickly driven her to Forks Hospital, leaving Sarah in charge of looking after J.J. until they got back.

Bella let out a low groan and curled in more on herself, leaning heavily against her husband. Jacob wrapped his arm around her and held her close, whispering comfortingly to her while anxiously looking around the waiting room, wondering where the hell the doctor was. Before long, a nurse stepped from around the corner and called out, "Isabella Black."

Jacob stood with Bella, letting her lean against him as they followed the nurse to a hospital room. Once inside, the nurse asked them some general questions about why they were there, Jacob answering them while Bella laid on the hospital bed, curled up on her side. The nurse soon left stating a doctor would be in shortly, leaving the two alone in the quiet room.

Chocolate brown eyes opened when Bella felt a hand gently stroke her hair and she looked into the worried brown ones of her husband. In a soft voice she stated, "I feel awful."

"I know honey, but we'll find out what's wrong with you soon," Jacob replied with a soft smile.

"I hate hospital visits."

"You enjoyed the last one."

"That's because J.J. was being born. Otherwise I hate it when I'm in here."

Jacob chuckled and looked at where his wife was clutching her stomach. "Maybe you're pregnant again."

Bella's eyes widened considerably. "No, I'm not. And I better not be until J.J. is at least three."

"So you want to have another kid?"

Before the brunette could answer, the doctor came in and greeted them. After looking at the nurse's notes and asking them questions as well—when she started feeling sick, throwing up, etc.—the doctor decided to run some tests before coming to a consensus, though he had an idea of what was wrong with Bella. Asking Jacob to stay where he was, the doctor took Bella to run some lab work, leaving Jacob sitting anxiously in the hospital room. As he waited, he thought about the idea of having another child with Bella. He knew whether they did or not, he'd be happy, but he also couldn't help but see another little boy or girl running around his legs, smiling up at him with such a bright and happy face.

Fifteen minutes later, Bella returned to wait on the results, and forty-five minutes later, the doctor returned. Smiling at them he said, "Turns out it's nothing too serious. Your wife just has a case of food poisoning, Mr. Black. Therefore, I'm going to prescribe Isabella with an antidiarrheal that I'll send to your pharmacy to pick up sometime tomorrow, and here is a list of food and drink she should ingest while recovering until the food poisoning is out of her system."

Jacob and Bella thanked the doctor and took the list from him before making their exit. Jacob stopped by the checkout counter to pay for Bella's emergency visit before they left the hospital altogether. Getting back into their car, Jacob drove from Forks Hospital towards La Push, though did stop at a convenience store to buy four bottles of Gatorade for Bella, as the food and drink sheet stated sports drinks with electrolytes was good to keep food poisoning victims hydrated. After that, they were headed back home for good.

It was silent in the car for a moment, the only sound to be heard as Bella sipping on one of the Gatorades. Another five minutes of silence passed before Bella said, "You asked me if I wanted to have another kid."

"I did," Jacob replied, eyes still on the road.

"I wouldn't mind having another one…or two."

"Two?" Jacob couldn't help but chuckle.

"Well, twins run in your family. We could get lucky."

Jacob burst into laughter, Bella laughing softly along with him. When their laughter quieted down, Jacob said, "Okay, another kid. Yeah, I wouldn't mind having another, but only when J.J. is at least three. And then we'll have another hospital visit."

Bella smiled and leant back in her seat before saying, "The only one I'll enjoy."

Jacob couldn't help but laugh at his wife again, shaking his head. Gosh, he loved his wife and would love to add to their little family with Sarah and J.J. And from the sounds of it, they would be in the near future. And for that, he couldn't wait.
