A/N: This story is set twenty years after MMPR ended. In this story, Kat was the original and only pink ranger and neither Tommy or Kimberly ever joined the team as they hadn't been born yet. Instead the rangers were only Jason, Zack, Billy, Trini, and Kat.
Power Rangers Command Center, just outside Angel Grove
"Alpha, the time has come again. Rita and Lord Zed have returned, and we need a new group of Rangers." Zordon told his friend, who gave the robotic equivalent of a sigh; he like Zordon, had hoped that this day would never come. The ranger's had sent Lord Zed and Rita Repulsa fleeing into space, but apparently the two had decided the time was right for another attempt to conquer the Earth.
"However, the time of the original morphers has passed. Now we need a newer, and more powerful source. The time has come to prepare the Zeonizers."
"I understand Zordon, I only wish it wasn't necessary."
"So do I my old friend, so do I."
Moments later, five beams of light shot out of the Command Center, heading towards their determined targets, those who would posses the power of the Zeo Crystals. Five lives were about to be changed forever.
Youth Center, Angel Grove
"Clark, C'mon already we're gonna be late!"
Clark Kent laughed as he followed Tommy and Adam outside before the trio hopped in Tommy's car and sped off towards the juice bar. He had met the two during his first day at Angel Grove high, and they had struck up an instant friendship. It wasn't unlike the friendship he had with Pete Ross before Pete had moved to Wichita Kansas during Clark's sophomore year. The only difference was that Clark no longer had his powers; after he had gotten hooked on red k the previous summer, and disappeared to Metropolis, his father had come to get him back. However, getting Clark back came at the loss of his powers. It seemed that Jor-El deemed Clark no longer worthy of his gifts, because he took them, claiming that no one who could be so irresponsible deserved the powers of a Kryptonian. Of course, he had given Clark a chance if you want to call it that. All it really turned out to be was an ultimatum; Clark could either leave his human life behind or lose his powers. It took him all of three seconds to tell Jor-El that he could take his ultimatum and shove it. A week after that, his parents moved him to Angel Grove, all three of them wanting to get as far away from meteor freaks and kryptonite as they could.
Clark would miss Lex, Lana and Chloe, but he would most definitely not miss the constant near-death situations he always found himself in.
"You know, I think I'm actually gonna do it today."
"What, cut your hair?" Clark asked with a laugh and Tommy just scowled before he responded.
"No dumbass, I'm gonna ask Kim out."
"Good luck." Clark and Adam said together. Both of them were aware of their friend's crush on Kimberly Hart, as well as her crush on Tommy. In fact, Clark was pretty sure everyone was aware of it except for the two people in question.
"You'll see." Tommy replied as they pulled into the juice bar. However, the question of whether or not Tommy would ask Kim out would have to wait for another time as three beams of energy engulfed the teenagers, leaving the car empty.
Inside the juice bar, the object of Tommy Oliver's affections was attempting to finish her math homework and wondering when her friends would get here when she was engulfed in a beam of energy, vanishing from her seat as if she had never been there in the first place.
The fifth and final beam of energy traveled through space, impacting on the spaceship of a young girl, both the girl and the ship disappearing in a wave of light.
"Wh- What... What happened?" Clark asked as he regained consciousness and slowly stood up, seeing Tommy, Adam, and Kim doing the same.
"Kim? What are you doing here?" Tommy asked as he looked at her in shock.
"More importantly, where is here?" Adam asked as he surveyed the room they now found themselves in; He supposed the closest thing he could relate it to was something out of Star Trek. Computers hummed all around the room, and there were five crystals that sat around some sort of console in the center of the room, and a viewscreen was behind the console.
"I think we'd all like to know the answer to that question."
Clark turned and his heart nearly stopped as he found himself looking at what he could only describe as a goddess. The girl had stunning blue eyes and long blonde hair, wearing a shirt that exposed her toned midriff and she had legs that any model would kill for.
"Who are you?" He asked at last, attempting to keep his voice steady, ignoring his friend's laughter at his tone.
"My name is Kara, Kara Zod."
Clark's mind whirled as he heard the name pass the girls lips. If what she was saying were true then she was Kryptonian, but not only that, she was related to the monster responsible for Krypton's destruction.
"Ranger's!" A voice bellowed, taking Clark's eyes off of Kara as he turned towards the source of the voice. He was shocked to see a head seemingly floating in the previously empty viewscreen.
"What did you call us?" Kim asked.
"Perhaps I should explain. My name is Zordon, and I need your help. This planet is being threatened by the evil Lord Zed and his wife Rita Repulsa."
"Wait, this is a joke right? Rita Repulsa, Lord Zed? They sound like comic book villains." Adam muttered, and the others nodded in agreement.
"I assure you Adam, this is no joke. Look on the viewing globe."
A globe had come out of the console and the teens watched in horror as Rita and Lord Zed attacked the earth.
"Rita and Zed attacked earth once before twenty years ago, but were defeated thanks to a group of teenagers like yourselves." Zordon told them, showing how the original Power Rangers had defeated Zed and Rita.
"However, Rita and Zed have returned and so we find ourselves once more in need of Power Rangers. Behold your Zeonizers." Zordon said and Alpha walked out, opening a box containing the morphers.
"You can't honestly expect us to do this?"
"Clark, the Zeonizers will give you power that will allow you to defeat Rita and Lord Zed and-"
"You just don't get it do you? I don't know how you know who I am, but I for one will not do this. You expect me to work with someone that was responsible for my planet's destruction, and not only that, but you want me to go into battle where my friends may get killed. No, if you do this you do it without me. I have lost too much."
"Clark-"
"No Tommy. I will not do this, and I hope you won't either."
"The earth could be destroyed if we don't. We need your help." Adam told him, but he shook his head.
"No Adam. I'm sorry, but I will not watch my friends die, and I will not work with anyone related to a traitor, and a pshycopath." He replied, looking at Kara who looked back at him in shock.
"Just who are you?" She finally asked, and he laughed darkly before he answered.
"My friends and family call me Clark Kent. My birth parents called me Kal-El. Zordon, send me home."
"I wish you would reconsider, but I cannot force this upon you." He said before Clark felt a beam of energy envelop him, and he found himself standing outside of his home in Angel Grove.
"Clark didn't mean that." Tommy told Kara, but before she could respond an alarm blared throughout the Command Center.
"Rita and Zed have launched an assault upon Angel Grove. It appears you will have to learn to control your new powers in the field. Kimberly, the power of zeo ranger one pink is yours. Kara, the power of zeo ranger two, yellow is yours. Tommy, yours is the power of zeo ranger three blue, and Adam you shall control the power of zeo ranger four green." Zordon told them, the person taking the morpher assigned to them as Zordon instructed. They were all conscious of the morpher that was left, the morpher that should be Clark's, all of them hoping that he would join them. They morphed, all of them amazed at the power coursing through their bodies as they felt energy from their Ranger suits envelop them, and they disappeared from the Command Center.
"What are those things?" Kim asked as they landed in the midst of some sort of gray-skinned creatures; if she didn't know better she would've thought they were some kids obsessed with halloween.
"Well whatever they are, they aren't friendly!" Kara replied, barely dodging a kick from one, lashing out with her fist and knocking it back a full three feet.
"Wow, these powers sure are sweet." Adam yelled as he punched two of the creatures in the throat, knocking them on their backs.
"No argument here." Tommy said, and the Ranger's made quick work of the creatures, all of them lying flat on their backs, unconscious. Suddenly a vortex opened and a man with bones on his chest and a helmet with a scepter shaped like a Z appeared.
"So Zordon found some new power brats?"
"Zed I assume." Tommy replied, adopting a fighting stance, the others doing likewise.
"I am Lord Zed, and now I shall take this planet for my own!" He replied, shooting them with a burst of energy from his scepter, causing them to scream as it them. He shot them again, sending them flying back, all of them landing flat on their backs, and swearing as they felt themselves demorph.
"We could seriously use Clark right now." Tommy muttered as Zed advanced on them, and they all wondered if their first ten minutes as rangers would also be their last.
"Ai Yai Yai! We have to help them!" Alpha yelled as he watched the battle unfold on the viewing globe, and Zordon nodded, knowing that there was only one person who could help the Rangers now.
"Clark is everything alright?" His mother asked as she came into his room. The young man sighed before he looked at his mother. Ever since he had walked out of the Command Center he had regretted it, and he wished he could take it back. No matter what he had lost or who Kara was related to, he had no excuse to leave his friends or the earth in peril if he could do something about it.
"Mom, what if you made a huge mistake and thought it was too late to fix it?"
"Well Clark, I wouldn't stop trying until I knew there was no way to fix it." She replied, kissing his forehead and leaving him alone with his thoughts. If she had looked back one minute later, all trace of Clark Kent would have been gone.
"Clark, I am sorry-"
"No Zordon, I screwed up. Now let me make up for it." He said, taking the morpher and putting it on his wrist before nodding to Alpha, who teleported him to where the other Ranger's were just getting off the ground.
"Clark!"
"Kal-El!"
"So there is another one. Come to meet your end brat?" Zed asked, and Clark just shook his head.
"No, I'm here to stop you Zeo Ranger five, Red!"
"Zeo Ranger four, green!"
"Zeo Ranger three, Blue!"
"Zeo Ranger two, Yellow!"
"Zeo Ranger one, Pink!"
"Let;s finish this!" Clark yelled and the others nodded, following him, all of them dodging Zed's blasts before pulling out the blasters at their belts and shooting him. They followed it up with a series of punches and kicks, finally sending Zed to the ground.
"It's over Zed!" Clark told him.
"NO!" Zed yelled, shooting the ground with an energy blast, disorienting the Rangers before he disappeared in a vortex.
Command Center: One Hour Later
"So Zed and Rita shall try again." Zordon said after the Rangers finished debriefing him.
"When he does, we'll be waiting." Clark replied.
"So, you'll stick around Clark?" Tommy asked, and he nodded.
"What about your refusal to work with traitors?" Kara asked him, and he looked at her for a moment before he spoke.
"You are most definitely not your father and I should not hold you accountable for his mistakes. I hope we can be friends." He said sticking out his hand. Kara hesitated for a moment before she took it, both of them smiling as they did so.
"Zordon I do have one question. Can I tell my parents?" Clark asked and zordon nodded in response.
"Yes, I believe they can be trusted, but no one else." He said and all the Rangers nodded.
"Alpha, send us home please." Clark said and Alpha nodded, all of them transporting out of the Command Center and reappearing at Clark's house.
"NO! I absolutely FORBID it!"
"Dad, you can't stop me! This is my choice!" Clark shot back an hour later, after he and his friends had told his parents what had happened.
"I won't let you do this!"
"You have no say in the matter!"
"I think I would have a say in who should be the next red ranger, considering I was the first."
