"Hey stranger" Tegan said when Cameron picked up the phone.
"Hi Tegan" said Cameron. "Sorry I didn't call earlier today. Had a family day. Has Sonia left already?"
"Yeah, Mike took her to the airport this morning. Don't worry though, sure you'll see her again soon. She likes visiting. Or rather, she likes checking up on me" Tegan laughed.
"I don't think she's checking up on you Tegan"
"She is, and that's okay too" Tegan sighed.
"So, what are you up to?" asked Tegan.
Cam had intended to put some distance between her and Tegan for a few days, but she couldn't resist her.
"Um… not much really just… reading" Cam stammered.
"Want to come read over here?"
"I don't know Tegan, I'm sure you're sick of me by now" Cam laughed.
"You sick of us?"
"No, not at all I just thought you'd want some alone time"
"We had plenty of alone time today. We're ordering pizza and salted caramel ice cream?" Tegan said with a tempting, sing song voice.
"How do you expect me to resist that?"
"Just come over so I can feed you. We'll have a sundowner or two and I'll send you right back to your book"
"Alright, I'll be right over. Make sure you don't order anything with anchovies" said Cam.
"Yeah, yeah, just get your butt over here!"
Cam hung up and signed. She still felt emotionally shaken up from her heart "episode" the previous day. She missed Tegan and the kids though.
"What are you doing?" she said out loud to herself.
"Cam, I have to go. Kids are with grandma and Tori's taken a shift for Dr Davidson over at the hospital. Sorry to leave you here on your own again" said Reese while buttoning her uniform shirt.
"No problem! I had a really nice day, thanks! Have a good shift" Cam said, not keen to share her plans with Reese or Tori tonight. She didn't know why but she felt like a drug addict constantly going back for just one more quick hit.
"Cam, you feeling okay?" asked Tori racing down the stairs.
"Yeah, perfectly fine today thanks!"
"You call me if you need me alright?"
"Sure, thanks" Cam smiled.

Sax was worried. Kate was far from stable. She rushed out of the examination room. She signed a document at the nurse's station and rushed back. Rounding a corner, she crashed right into somebody.
"Sorry" she mumbled and looked up into Sara's eyes.
"Sara…" she said looking shocked.
"Sax, hi" said Sara.
"Hi…"
"Do you know where Kate is?"
"Sara, she's okay, we've got this! She's okay!" said Sax holding on to Sara's biceps.
"What do you mean?" Sara frowned.
"Um… did somebody call you to come over?" Sax looked confused.
"No, I came over to take her home…. Take her home or at least have a meal or a coffee with my wife for a change. Looked for her upstairs, somebody said she's in the ER"
Sax sighed and touched Sara's arm.
"In the ER…" Sara whispered, the blood suddenly draining from her face.
"Where is she?" asked Sara suddenly looking pale.
"Sara lets just sit down a minute"
Sara ripped her arm away. "Where is she?" she asked more forcefully.
"Just listen for minute and I'll take you to her"
"Is she okay? Oh god what happened?" said Sara throwing her head back looking panicked.
"Kate collapsed in the OR a few minutes ago"
"She what?"
"She had a really exhausting and stressful surgery and, on her way out, she just… went down. We tried to rouse her in there, but we couldn't and…"
"Oh my god… where is she? I need to see her. Is she okay?" said Sara walking away aimlessly.
"Sara… just calm down" said Sax kindly.
"Don't tell me to calm down" Sara snapped.
Sax held her hands up in defence.
"Okay, talk" said Sara sitting down.
"We got her down here pretty fast and she came too. Her blood pressure and her blood sugar are both pretty low. She also hit her head pretty hard on the floor. We need to do some blood tests and a CT scan to establish what caused this. We also need to get her on some fluid replacement and get her on a monitor, but she is point blank refusing. She's on the verge of checking herself out against medical advice which is a very bad idea because she's definitely not stable!"
"Like hell she is! Where is she? Leave it to me, she'll stay as long as you need her to"
"Thanks, that will help"
Sara put her hands in front of her mouth and paced up and down.
"Is she going to be okay Sax?' she asked softly.
"Depends on what we find but I think so, yes. If she lets us help her" said Sax with her hand on Sara's shoulder.
"Good, 'cause I'm going to kill her!" said Sara shaking her head.
"Can I see her please?"
"Come with me, just try and keep her cam Sara. And we really need those bloods and the CT scan"
