"Sara, a word real quick?" said Sax softly.
Sara glanced at her sleeping wife and quickly followed Sax out of the room.
"Everything okay?" asked Sara sounding nervous.
"Yeah all good. She just needs to rest right now and give the blood and the meds time to work"
"Okay, thanks" Sara sighed.
"Sar, I just had a terrified Tegan on the line. She is losing it, she's so worried."
"Shit… I told her not to call you"
"Sar, I wanted to put her mind at ease, but I need permission from you or from Kate to do so. Doctor patient confidentiality"
"I'm sure you have better things to do. I don't want her taking up your time"
"Sara" said Sax gently putting her hand on Sara's arm. "I don't mind. Tegan is a friend. I don't mind calling her and talking her through this. She wants to get on the first flight back here and I don't think that would be ideal. Please just let me call her. Calm her down. Explain things"
"Okay… I can't worry about her on a flight now. Please just convince her to stay."
"I'll try" Sax winked and left the room to go call Tegan.

"Thank you Sax. I really appreciate the call. Please keep us updated and send Kate our love" said Tegan said. She had the phone on speaker so Cam could listen and ask questions too.
Tegan sighed and hung up. She tapped the phone against her forehead. Cam put her hand on Tegan's thigh. "You feel a bit better after that explanation?"
"I guess" said Tegan. "What do you think? I mean, you're a doctor… is she going to be okay?"
"Tee, I don't think Sax will lie to you. From the sounds of it they have this under control. I can guarantee you Kate feels like hammered dog shit right now, but she should be a lot better come morning once they got her levels up and evened out"
"So, you think I should wait it out?"
"Yeah, I think so"
Tegan scrubbed her hands over her face. She was teary.
"I miss them… so much"
Cam put her arm around Tegan's shoulder and rubbed her arm.
A second later Beth came into the room and stopped dead in her tracks.
"Hey" Tegan said looking up.
"Um… sorry for intruding, I'll speak to you later"
"You're not intruding" said Tegan.
"You okay?" Beth asked.
Tegan told Beth what was going on. Beth now understood why Cam had her arm around Tegan.
"I agree that you should wait it out, at least until tomorrow morning"
"Shit" Tegan said again and put her head in her hands.
"She'll be okay" Cam said softly and touched Tegan again.
"I'm making us a nice dinner and I'm taking the couch tonight" said Cam.
"You don't have to do that, we'll be around" said Beth fast.
"It's no problem at all" said Cam giving Beth a dirty look.
"I'm here for you Tegan" said Cam.
"You don't have to do that… I'll be okay"
"It's okay. It's no biggy"
"Okay, thank you. I'd like very much for you to stay. And you don't need to take the couch, we have plenty of spare beds" Tegan smiled.
Beth got up looking annoyed. "Call me if you need anything"
"Thanks Beth" said Tegan to Beth's back.
"She… um I don't think she likes me being here" said Cam.
"I don't give a crap what she likes"

Doctor Morgan, wake up" Kate felt somebody say as someone gently shook her shoulder.
Kate felt groggy, she didn't open her eyes.
"Doctor Morgan, wake up" the voice repeated.
"Go away" Kate grunted.
"Baby, wake up my love" Sara said softly.
Kate grunted but eventually opened her eyes slowly and squinted.
"Can you tell me your name please" a resident asked and swung a penlight in and out of Kate's pupils.
"Fuck off" Kate grunted and pushed his hand away.
"Sweetie, shhh! It's okay, everything's okay" Sara cooed.
"Name please"
Kate swallowed hard and sighed. "Kate Morgan"
"Do you know where you are right now?"
"Well I'm no fucking Sherlock Holmes but it looks like a hospital room to me"
"What's your daughter's name?"
"What's it to you?" Kate mumbled and turned dramatically on her side.
"Babe" Sara said gently and rubbed Kate's arm.
"Alright, alright! Amelia Rain Quin Morgan. There! Now go away!"
"Follow my finger please" the resident said.
Kate sighed but obeyed.
"Thank you, you can go back to sleep now" said the resident and rushed out of the room.
Kate turned on her side before Sara kissed her forehead.
"Go home Sar" said Kate knowing it was getting late.
"Amelia needs…." Kate started before being interrupted.
"Not a chance. Amelia is safe and sound at Erin's"
"You haven't told them have you?" Kate asked desperately.
"Well you made me promise not to so no, I didn't. I still think that's a mistake though"
"I don't want them to worry! I'm fine… I'll be fine"
"They would want to know"
"I'll tell them tomorrow, please Sara"
"Okay. Tegan knows. I'm sorry but she figured out something was wrong"
"Shit… tell me she's not on a flight back right now"
"No, she's staying put for now after Sax calmed her down. She's feaking out though"
"This is why I don't want them to know"
"You need to get some rest. We'll sort everything out later. Go to sleep now"
"Will you get some rest at least? Did they set up a cot for you?"
"Sax asked them to so I'm sure they will later, it's nowhere near bedtime for me yet though. Shhh relax now. Sleep"
"I'm so confused, what day is it?"
"It doesn't matter sweetie, shhhhh. Sleep"

A few hours later.
Tegan and Cameron sat on the deck staring at the moon over the ocean.
"Fuck, I'm worried about her" said Tegan shaking her head.
"I know, this is scary but she's in the best hands possible Tee. She's going to be just fine" said Cam with her hand on Tegan's thigh. As soon as she reaised what she was doing she pulled her hand away.
"Another whiskey?" She asked.
"Sure, thanks" said Tegan.
"Thanks for your help tonight with the kids. If it was up to me I would have just skipped the bath and had a piggy night. But yeah, they were filthy so thanks" Tegan grinned.
"No problem, it was fun. They're fast though huh" Cam laughed.
"Yeah… but seriously, I'm so grateful that you're here. I'm so happy to have found a new friend as awesome as you"
Cam looked down, scared that Tegan might see her blush beet red. Luckily it was quite dark outside.
"I feel the same Tegan. I'm so happy we became friends"
"It's late, I feel like I should go to bed since those two monkeys will have me up at 6 but I just don't think I can sleep right now"
"I'll entertain them in the morning"
"You're sweet but no, I won't do that to you"
"I'm used to very little sleep and night shifts remember"
Tegan just smiled and put her hand on Cam's thigh this time and squeezed. She pulled her hand away again to pick up her drink.
Cameron's heart was beating out of her chest.
"What the fuck am I doing?" she thought to herself and closed her eyes. The sound of the waves and the summer crickets making her sleepy. She opened her eyes again, not wanting to fall asleep but be there for Tegan. She looked over to Tegan who was staring out over the ocean too while swirling her drink around. The silence was never uncomfortable and Cameron loved that.
