A/N: Takes place during season 4 of Smallville! Clark already has the Legion Ring! I do not own Smallville or Liberty's Kids!
"Clark?"
"Yeah mom?" He called as he came in from the barn, letting out an audible gulp as he saw his mother standing there with her hands on her hips while his father just sat silently at the table.
"What have we told you about time travel?"
"Excuse me? What are you talking about?" The young man asked, and his mother didn't say anything. Instead she just handed him a piece of paper.
Clark almost cursed himself as he looked down at the paper, believing that he had hidden it a few days earlier. However, the proof was in his hand, and he knew that he now had some explaining to do.
"So, care to explain what you're doing conversing with someone from 1776?" She asked, and Clark was silent for a moment before he let a soft smile grace his features.
"Actually it's 1779, and if you had read the whole letter you would know that we were trying to figure out a date."
"A date? A date for what Clark?" His father asked, and Clark's smile broadened.
"You weren't supposed to find out like this. I was going to tell you once we had all the details ironed out, and then I was going to take you and introduce you."
"Introduce us to who Clark?"
"Let me show you." He replied before disappearing, only to reappear a moment later with his Legion ring on his hand. He grabbed both of his parents hands, and the next thing they knew the three Kents were standing in the middle of a cobblestone street with shops on all sides. Without waiting for his parents to say anything the Last Son of Krypton lead his parents past several shops before stopping in front of a print shop and opening the door.
"Hello and welcome to- Clark Kent as I live and breath! It's been a while."
"Hi Moses. Tell me are the others around?"
"Of course, just a minute. James! Henri! Sarah, we've got company!" He called and soon the Kents could hear the sounds of footfalls on the stairs above them.
"Who comes by at nine in ze morning?" Henri asked as he headed down the stairs.
"No idea Henri, but we should find out! There could be a story here!" James replied, practically bounding down the stairs in excitement.
"Oh the both of you, do calm down." Sarah replied as she followed at a much more sedate pace.
"Well I'm sorry for the hour, but I hope you don't mind that I dropped by?" Clark asked as soon as they got downstairs, having heard the teens comments thanks to his super hearing.
"Clark!" Sarah gasped as she saw him standing there, quickly crossing the room and locking her lips with his. For a moment there was silence as the two were lost in their own world; however, a cough from behind them brought the two back to the present.
"Sorry about that. Mom, dad this is Sarah my fiancee. It was her letter you found. Sarah, these are my parents Jonathan and Martha Kent." He said, and Sarah smiled shaking hands with both of them.
"Ah hem!"
"Oh right. Behind us is Henri, James and Moses."
"Son, I think you need to tell us just what the hell is going on. Now." Jonathan said, his eyes not leaving those of his son.
"Perhaps we would be more comfortable in the lounge? I can fix us some tea." A voice said, making the others look to the door.
"Dr. Franklin, it's good to see you again. I'm assuming talks with the French went well?" Clark asked, making the Doctor gin in response.
"You should know the answer to that my friend. Oh where are my manners? It's a true pleasure to meet you Mr. and Mrs. Kent. Benjamin Franklin at your service." He said with a small bow.
"Uh Doctor Franklin? I think my parents might need something a bit...stronger?" Clark said, seeing the looks of shock on his parents faces.
"Quite right." He replied before leading them into the parlor. Ten minutes and one brandy later Jonathan and Martha finally looked calm enough to speak.
"Son...where are we?"
Jonathan already knew the answer, but he needed to hear it for himself before he could believe it.
"We're in Philadelphia. What's the date Sarah?"
"August 12, 1779."
"Clark, I think you have some explaining to do."
"Yes mom." He replied, but before he could say anything else the door to the shop burst open.
"Moses, Sarah! Has the Colonel returned from his leave?" A man asked as he entered the shop.
"Wilkens what's going on?" Clark asked as he stood up ignoring his parents look of shock.
"Sir, the British are marching on the city!"
"Sarah, would you mind grabbing my uniform? Moses, I'm assuming my gun is still where I left it?" He said, and the two nodded before getting up to do as he asked.
"Mom, dad stay here. Do not go outside until I get back. Sarah can you look after them?" He asked, and she nodded before kissing him.
"Come back to me." She whispered and he nodded before following Wilkens out of the store, leaving his parents standing there dumbstruck.
Two hours later Clark came back inside his uniform covered in gunpowder, but looking no worse for the wear.
"How was the battle?" James asked and Clark smiled.
"We sent them running with their tails between their legs." He replied before sitting down, and taking the glass of water Sarah offered him.
"Thank you love." He said and she nodded before taking her seat beside him.
"Alright son, we've waited long enough. Tell us what is going on. Now." Jonathan said, and Clark nodded before he began to speak.
