It was the night that Peter Parker was going to his girlfriend Mary Jane Watson's play on broadway. Harry Osborn attended it as well on one of the balconies just noticing Peter towards the end of the play. In the meantime, Eddie Brock was on his coffee date with Gwen Stacy.
A coffee shop in Manhattan, New York
Eddie: Gwen!
Gwen: Hey Eddie, I was worried whether or not you would show up.
Eddie: Traffic was the problem.
Gwen: Love your motorcycle.
Eddie: Just bought a new one today.
While at the coffee shop table, they got to know one another a bit while discussing Eddie possibly taking more model shots of her while working as a photographer for the daily bugle.
Gwen: How's the bugle going?
Eddie: Working on getting that promotion to staff photographer while the other photographer is trying to get that promotion as well. But depending on whether or not I get that promotion I'll still shot photos of you for magazines.
Gwen: That would be great.
Eddie: Sweet beautiful. I'll see you around for another date elsewhere.
Gwen: That was nice of you Eddie, but I'm not interested in taking things further.
Eddie: What? Why?
Gwen: I would rather have you as a friend if that's alright.
Eddie: (sighs) I suppose Gwen but in my opinion you're the most beautiful girl in the world. I hope you change your mind about this soon.
Gwen: Thank you Eddie but I won't change my mind and will find another man who is better than you.
Eddie: Ok fine.
As soon as the date was over, Gwen headed home in her car and Eddie did the same in his motorcycle. Eddie still would not accept Gwen rejecting her but would try to get her on another date and eventually become his girlfriend for his own personal gain. At least she was his girlfriend in his own mind.
