A/N: This takes place just before the wedding scene at the end of Imzadi II which was written by CleanWriter1987 and jumps to the reception immediately after. It has been three months since Clark appeared on the Enterprise. Also for the sake of the story, the events of Star Trek Voyager took place before TNG. Mental communication is in italics.

"Have you thought about what you plan on doing for the next few years?" Captain Picard asked, breaking Clark from his thoughts. He was just finishing up his tie, still unable to believe he was getting married to the most beautiful woman in the galaxy.

"Honestly, no. I think I'm still trying to convince myself this isn't a dream."

"I know what you mean." Will Riker said from behind him. Surprising everyone, Riker had no objections whatsoever to Clark being with Deanna, although that may have more to do with the fact that he had just gotten married to Leutinet Tasha Yar a month prior. Their relationship had shocked everyone, including Deanna. However, it definitely made things easier for Clark and Deanna. He and Riker had actually become friends once they had gotten past Riker's threat to shoot him with a kryptonite phaser if h e ever hurt Deanna.

"So, they're giving you the Titan? She's a fine ship." Clark said, and Riker nodded.

"Yes she is. I could still use a first officer, if you're interested?"

"No thanks. I had enough of that with the Admiral." Clark said, referring to Admiral Kathryn Janeway. About a decade earlier he had joined Q on board Voyager and decided to stay. He had worked his way through the ranks and eventually become first officer when Chakotay received command of the USS Hood. While he had enjoyed it, there was still far too much red tape when it came to regulations.

Thankfully the discussion was halted by a knock at the door.

"Enter." Clark called, surprised to see Q walk in. However, if that surprised him seeing the members of the Justice League and his parents walking behind him made him almost pass out in shock.

"I figured I'd be a poor friend if I didn't get you a wedding present."

"Isn't this a little illegal?"

"His very existence should be illegal." Riker said and Picard nodded.

"Au contraire mon Capitain's-"

"Don't start Q, not today. Let's all play nice." Martha said and he nodded. Clark moved and embraced his family and friends before introductions were made.

"May I have everyone's attention?"

Admiral Janeway's voice cut through the chatter of the discussion, drawing Clark and Deanna out of their own discussion. The two newlyweds had spent the better part of the evening on the dance floor, only stopping to dance with their guests. Clark had taken time to dance with his mother, Tess, Zatanna, Chloe, Lois, Dinah, Seven of Nine and the other female members of the League and Voyager's crew while Deanna had done likewise with her father and the other men. They had just sat down to dinner, and Clark had a sinking feeling that he was not going to like what the Admiral had to say.

"It has come to my attention that Captain Picard and Dr. Beverley Crusher have decided to retire and spend their remaining days on Bajor. Now ordinarily I would not announce this at a wedding, but with Commander Riker taking command of the Titan that leaves the Enterprise without a Captain, especially seeing as Worf, Data and Tasha have agreed to go with Riker. Which leads me to the point of this announcement. Mr. Kent, after speaking to all involved and given your own impressive record while under my command I would like to formally offer you command of the Enterprise."

"Did you know about this?"

"Of course." His bride replied , making him chuckle.

"I accept Admiral."

"Good. Otherwise transferring most of my old bridge crew would have been for nothing."

"You all seriously want to have to obey my orders again?" He asked, and the Voyager crew laughed.

"I think I speak for everyone Captain when I say that it will be a pleasure...provided we do not have a repeat of the Neutrel Zone mission." Seven spoke up, and Clark groaned.

"Never going to let me live that down are you?"

"No sir." Harry Kim spoke up.

"Clark, what's he talking about?" Deanna asked. Looking around Clark could see that the rest of his guests were equally as interested and he knew he would be forced to repeat the tale.

"Alright. It was three years after Chakotay had become Captain of the Hood. We were on a mission to the edge of the Romulan Neutrel Zone to pick up a supply ship in distress. Everything seemed to go okay at first. We contacted the supply ship and got it inside Voyager's shuttle bay. However, just as we were about to leave we encountered a little complication."

Flashback-4 years earlier

"Captain, we have a problem. Six Romulan Warbird's are decloacking. And Captain...they have us surrounded."

"Red alert! Shield's up!" Janeway commanded.

"Ideas people?"

"Hit them with everything we have." Tom Paris spoke up.

"Foolish and pointless. Even if we managed to destroy any of them, the Romulans would overpower us by sheer numbers." Seven spoke up.

"Can we seperate the ship?" Clark asked, and Seven shook her head.

"The Romulans will not-"

"Not the Romulans Seven. Can we seperate Voyager's saucer section from the rest of the ship?"

"Theoretically yes. It has never been tested. And may I point out Commander that even if this works, we would still be caught in between the Romulans. Also our weapons would be split between the two sections of the ship." Tuvok said, and Clark smiled.

"Exactly Tuvok. Mr. Paris, prepare to go to maximum warp on my command."

"Sir?"

"Do it Mr. Paris!"

"Aye sir. Heading?"

"Directly above our present position."

"Sir."

"Maximum Warp!"

"Aye sir, maximum warp."

"Mr. Tuvok, Mr. Kim prepare to initiate emergency saucer seperation."

"Mr. Kent...Clark, what are you planning?" Janeway asked.

"If I''m right Capain, the force of the seperation will propel the two sections of the ship to either side of the Romulans. Then we just send them to oblivion."

"And if you're wrong?"

"Then it's been an honor serving with you all. Commence seperation in three two one mark!"

The ship shook for several minutes, all of the crew holding on for dear life.

"Seperation succesful sir."

"Blow them away Mr. Tuvok." He replied, watching the Romulans be destroyed by an attack they never even saw coming.

Flashback End

"It was stupid, dangerous, and reckless...the markings of a true starfleet captain." Janeway said.

"Well I did learn from the best." He said, raising his glass in salute.

"Enough shop talk, if you please." Deanna said, and Clark smiled.

"One moment love. Mr. Crusher, would you consider staying onboard the Enterprise?"

"Yes Captain." The recent Starfleet Academy graduate replied.

"Good, because as it happens I am still in need of a first officer. Would you be interested?"

"Sir?"

"Did I stutter Mr. Crusher?" Clark asked, and the younger man laughed.

"No sir. I would be honored to accept. However, getting approval-"

"Consider it done. I owe you one for that time in the Deros system." Janeway told the newly minted Captain.

"Thank you. Now as my wife said, enough shop talk."

And so the celebrations continued with the new Captain and crew of the USS Enterprise completely unaware of the danger they were about to face.
