CHAPTER 2-RAINKIT
I easily devoured the vole before me. Today my brothers and I were having a first taste of prey. At the half-way-mark to becoming apprentices, Iceblaze decided that it was finally time. I was at the elder's den delivering prey and it just so happened Harshbreeze had just eaten, so the vole was given to me.
Once they'd all finished, I mewed, "Would you like me to get your ticks?" The elders shook their heads. "No thank you, but you are very kind, Rainkit," Fallenleaf mewed gently, before resting her head on her paws to sleep. "I would say yes, but Sharkpaw and Moonpaw have already did them," Jumpbird added, stretching as she too prepared to take her afternoon nap. "That Sharkpaw missed a few on me," Stumpyfoot grumbled. I left the den and prepared to collect mousebile from Galepaw when his shriek cut the air. I stiffened and my fur rose. Galepaw wasn't one to stir up commotion, so something must have been wrong I bolted inside to see Iceblaze protecting Thistlekit from an angry Galepaw.
"That contained the last honey, blackberry and catnip in the territory! So no, we can't make another! All because of Thistlekit!" Thistlekit purred smugly at Galepaw's rage. Rainkit was about to call out to Thistlekit but clamped his jaws shut when Coldheart stormed in.
I little while later he ran over to Nightclaw and Ravenstar before they shared a glance and nodded. They left into the den. Iceblaze followed them to plead for mercy on her son while Thistlekit looked downright terrified. "Shouldn't have done that." a mocking voice sneered. "Yeah you messed up big time." "While Ravenstar announces our warrior names, poor old Thistlekit will be a rotting elder, still stuck in the nursery." Rainkit fumed at his two brothers, Jaykit and Skykit. Jaykit's white and silver pelt rippled as he roared with laughter, Skykit's dark gray-and-white pelt shaking as he too laughed, amused at Thistlekit's dejected features.
"Don't listen to them." I hissed in his ear, before returning to Galepaw to receive the mousebile. As Jaykit and Skykit stalked away with their tails held high to the older, snobbier version of them-Sharkpaw-Thistlekit was staring at the sky, teary blue eyes fixated on something far away. Rainkit frowned, suddenly feeling a rush of rage at his brother. Could he have some special connection with StarClan!? But I wanted to be a medicat-even though it was impossible with Galepaw, there couldn't be a way StarClan favored him over me; no way! I would kill him if they did. I snatched the mousebile, claws unsheathed and hackles raised. After the moment passed I felt horrified; I felt like the anger had possessed me!
Just who am I!?
