As I write this, we have 29 hours and 55 minutes until Agent Carter season 2 premieres! (Can you tell I'm excited?) Things have calmed down slightly, very slightly. So I'm trying to write, I'm simultaneously avoiding the mountain of German homework I got assigned for this long weekend (Happy Martin Luther King Jr. day!) I hope you enjoy the following chapter! Even I don't know what's gonna happen as I haven't written it yet. My life's a mess.

"So what are you in the mood to eat?" asked Peggy as she and Daniel strolled down the sidewalk, Peggy's arm looped through Daniels. They were on foot as Jarvis had taken the car when he drove Kat and Grace to Stark's.

"We're not that far from my place, I could cook us something?" offered Daniel.

"I didn't know you could cook." Said Peggy.

"My mother taught me the basics, living on my own required me to learn a bit more." Said Daniel.

"So what can you make?" asked Peggy.

"Different types of pasta, some kinds of meat. I'm told my spaghetti is to die for." Answered Daniel.

"I can't remember the last time I had spaghetti, must've been before the war." Said Peggy.

"Really? Then you're having some tonight, if that's what you want." Said Daniel.

"It is, it sounds lovely." Said Peggy.

"Great, my place is just a couple of blocks away."

Peggy and Daniel arrived a few minutes later. Daniel unlocked the door and led Peggy inside. The front door led right into the living room.

"This is a lovely place, Daniel." Said Peggy as she walked around the living room.

"Thanks, make yourself at home. Bathroom's down that hallway on the left. I'll just be in the kitchen.

"Do you want any help with dinner?" asked Peggy.

"No, thank you. Just sit down and relax, dinner will be ready in about twenty minutes." Said Daniel before kissing Peggy quickly on the lips and walking into the kitchen. Peggy sat down on the couch in front of a small coffee table littered with papers and a few SSR files. Stark's file was among them.

Howard.

He was still missing, and here she was having fun while he was probably being tortured for information.

Peggy shook her head as she continued to sift her papers, most were pages in Daniel's handwriting, probably notes on various cases they had worked on. Her own file was also in the pile. On top was a diagram of her body noting where her scars from the war were. Unbeknownst to her, Daniel had walked in to tell her that dinner was ready.

"That's when I put it all together. I pulled your file because I was starting to get suspicious, you were never around when things happened, many of our witnesses claimed to have been previously…interrogated…by a woman. There was a woman at Spider Raymond's club. I pulled your file because I was examining one of the photos taken at the club, it caught the back of your shoulder and I saw the scar, and it killed me to admit it to myself, but I recognized that scar.

"Thompson's little joke, before the Russia trip." Said Peggy, Daniel nodded and sat down next to her.

"I'm sorry Daniel I didn't mean to see all of this." Said Peggy.

"It's all right Peg. After I realized you were the blonde at the club that night I went and spoke to the man you tied up to a chair, and he recognized your picture when I showed it to him. That's when I told Thompson and Chief Dooley. Chief sent a team of us to get you." Said Daniel.

"I knew you weren't going to shoot me, I took advantage of that and ran." Said Peggy.

"No matter what, I could never hurt you." Said Daniel.

"I know that." Said Peggy.

"I hated every minute of it, especially the interrogation. Really we only caught you because you went back to the Griffith, why?" asked Daniel.

"I had to get Steve's blood, I was keeping it behind a painting in the wall." Said Peggy.

"You were right, in the interrogation." Said Daniel.

"Right about what?" asked Peggy.

"I saw you as the girl on the pedestal. You changed my life from the moment you walked into the SSR the first time. I didn't realize how deep my affections went until Krasminsky told me rather bluntly that 'no girl would trade in a red white and blue shield for an aluminum crutch.' At the time I thought he was right. You were the unattainable, perfect woman, and I was a crip. Then I thought you were a traitor, and another one of Stark's conquests and I got so mad. Mad at myself because I used to pride myself on my ability to read people and yet I thought that I was so wrong about you. Mad that you were Stark's girl." Said Daniel.

"You know now that none of that is true, right?" said Peggy, taking Daniel's hands in hers.

"Of course I do, but I'm trying to explain why I behaved the way I did when what you needed most was an ally, a friend. I let my emotions cloud my judgement. If I had just listened that day outside Angie's diner, instead of trying to arrest you, maybe things would have turned out differently." Said Daniel

"Because they turned out so badly in the first place? Daniel the point is you believed me when it mattered most. Although things were bad at the moment, I'd say things are pretty good right now. The amount of times both of us has almost died over the past week has helped me realize that we shouldn't dwell in the past, but live for now." Peggy didn't say any more, she didn't get the chance because Daniel leaned forward and captured her lips in his. Breaking apart, Peggy smiled.

"Now how about we eat? Because the spaghetti sounds delicious and I'm starving." Said Peggy.

"As you wish." Said Daniel, smiling too and leading Peggy into the kitchen/dining room.

It was late when Peggy walked into Stark's Manor.

"So how's Agent Sousa? He treating you right?" asked Angie.

"You know he's a perfect gentleman. How're the girls?" asked Peggy as she hung her coat in the closet.

"Both fed and asleep. I told Grace about her parents, I hope that's ok." Said Angie.

"Of course, thank you. How did she take it?" asked Peggy.

"She cried herself to sleep. Hey English can I ask you something?" asked Angie.

"Whatever you want, I owe you anyway. I'm so sorry for everything you've seen and been through this past week."

"I was listening to that radio show you hate. The one about Captain America? And with everything going on recently, I found out you were a secret agent. I realized how much Betty Carver sounds like Peggy Carter. Were you Captain America's girl?" asked Angie.

"It's about time you know the truth. I joined the army when I was nineteen. I was helping spot planes coming in on radar. Colonel Phillips took notice of me and I climbed the ranks. Within a few years I was working closely with Colonel Phillips. I was assigned to help with Project Rebirth, it's the project that turned Steve Rogers from a boy into the man everyone knows as Captain America. A group of men were selected when they enlisted and sent to the camp. At the camp we did our best to pick who would be given the serum, they were given tests. I got to know Steve during the training and started to fall in love with him. I was overjoyed but also worried when he was picked. He made it through alright and then was put on every propaganda poster about the war and he was prancing across stage after stage. Then his best friends regiment was captured by Hydra, and Steve went to save them, he disobeyed a direct order and I helped him do it. Steve was on the front, he really was fighting Red Skull. His best friend Bucky Barnes died. Red Skull's plan was to bomb a whole lot of people with this really explosive energy. The bomb was in a plane and Steve was piloting it. I tried to talk him down but I couldn't, Steve had decided to put the plane in the water and himself with it. We never found him, or the plane. After the war I moved here and joined the SSR." Said Peggy, crying.

"I'm so sorry." Said Angie.

"Thank you. But I've finally moved on. I was finally able to let him go after Leviathan almost destroyed New York." Said Peggy.

"And Daniel's good to you." Said Angie.

"Very. Angie you're the first person whom I've told the whole story to. I'd prefer it if you keep it to yourself, if you don't mind." Said Peggy.

"Of course." Said Angie.

"So what's going on between you and Jack Thompson?" asked Peggy.

"He's an ass." Said Angie.

"Really? I thought you liked him?" asked Peggy.

"Maybe I did, until I heard all about how he took all the credit from you and Sousa and never even apologized to you for the way he treated you. He asked me to join him for drinks tonight and I told him to go to hell." Said Angie.

"Bravo for that." Said Peggy.

Sorry guys, it's been a while since I've seen the first Captain America so I'm a little fuzzy on the details.

I hope you liked this chapter, I'll try and update soon but I make no promises.
