Max's P.O.V.
Alright, so Aerodactyl is a flying-rock type which means I have the advantage with Vikavolt, but Trent hasn't used Aeordactyl in any competition yet so I have to be careful.
I kept my stance and I watched Trent's anger practically consume him, it was all a facade, though, I knew he was scared of losing but knew he would lose anyway so he was angry at me for taking his chance to hide the fact that he knows I'm better.
"Aerial Ace," he yelled.
Aerodactly charged at Vikavolt.
"Dodge," I said, I had to keep my cool, that Aerial Ace would've been devastating had it landed.
I couldn't let him win, the battle, the League, the Champion title, or win over Bonnie, and it was obvious, May told her.
I looked at Trent, he was losing it, and he had been for four years, my old rival had fallen from his grace.
Bonnie's P.O.V.
"Wow, he looks angry just because Vikavolt dodged," Clemont said.
"He's been losing it since Max swept his team in the first round of the Hoenn League, four years ago," I said, I was glad Max had to take him on and not me, I couldn't handle looking at him from inside the box and I couldn't imagine what was going through Max's head.
"Energy Ball," Max yelled.
Vikavolt fired a green orb towards Aerodactyl.
"Aerial Ace," Trent yelled.
Aerodactyl wings cut through the orb.
"Dodge it," Max yelled.
Vikavolt shifted slightly to the left and dodged.
"Doesn't Max have the type advantage?" May asked.
"Yes and no, Vikavolt is an Electric and Bug-type, and Aerodactly is strong against bug types while being weak electric types so he does a normal amount of damage."
I believe in you, Max.
Third Person P.O.V.
Both boys stared at each other, people who didn't know would think that it was a stalemate.
"Stealth Rock."
Max couldn't help but snort, Vikavolt wouldn't touch the rocks, it was in the air.
"Thunderbolt," Max yelled.
"Vika," Vikavolt called in a shrill voice.
A bolt of electricity hit Aerodactyl dead on and he fell to the ground. The Fossil Pokemon groaned in pain as he tried to raise himself to the sky once again. He turned to Trent, pleading with his eyes to be returned to his Pokeball.
Trent fumed at his Pokemon, "Do you think I care, because I don't, use Stone Edge."
Aerodactyl whimpered and forced himself into the air.
"Aero," he cried.
Blue jagged stones appeared out of the ground.
"Dodge it, then use Thunderbolt."
Vikavolt weaved through the stones and charged electricity.
"VIKA."
Vikavolt released a bolt of electricity, comparable to Pikachu's Thunderbolt, on Aerodactyl. Trent tried to scream a command but Aerodactyl simply stayed there and accepted the full force of Vikavolt's attack.
The force of the attack brought Aerodactyl to the ground faster than either trainer could register that the attack had made contact.
Trent's P.O.V.
"Aerodactyl is unable to battle, Vikavolt is the winner," the referee called, "Trent please select your next Pokemon."
The ref's words rang in my ears, there was no way he was that strong, for Arceus's sake he never won a League. Max's smug face when the ref made the call was seared into my brain, I knew I wasn't gonna win, but I didn't know he would sweep me again.
I scanned the crowds, and then I saw her, my sister. She was probably the richest person in attendance, even richer than the Champion. When we locked eyes she simply lost her expression, showing her disappointment.
I felt around for a Pokeball on my belt, I had to impress her.
"HITMONCHAN!"
Third Person P.O.V.
Trent threw the Pokeball and a brown figure with red boxing gloves on each hand.
"Use Mach Punch," Trent yelled.
"Dodge it," Max said.
Hitmonchan's fist began to glow white as he charged towards Vikavolt. He jumped into the air and swung his fist at Vikavolt who dodged it with ease.
Max's P.O.V.
"Alright this better work," I muttered under my breath.
"Ice Punch."
"Dodge," I said as a reflex.
I wasn't focused on the commands Trent was giving to Hitmonchan, I just told Vikavolt to dodge whenever I heard his voice.
"C'mon Trent, this is such an obscure strategy that even you won't predict," I mumbled.
"Fire Punch."
Fine, I guess this isn't gonna work as I hoped.
"Dodge it, then use Thunderbolt," I yelled.
Vikavolt's exhaustion was taking hold, his movements were becoming sluggish, not good.
"Vikavol," Vikavolt said as he charged electricity, sounding strained, his exhaustion was much more than I thought.
"Dodge it," Trent said, almost sounding bored.
I balled my fist at his tone, I couldn't lose it, I had to stay focused.
Hitmonchan had jumped into the air to dodge Vikavolt and landed a few yards from me, Trent had played right into my hand.
Third Person P.O.V.
Hitmonchan seemed to be in pain when he landed and winced at every step he took, Max's plan had worked.
Trent, who was none the wiser about Max's plan, grew angrier at Hitmonchan's wincing.
"Hitmonchan, stop faking it," he yelled.
Max smirked, "He's not faking it, Trent."
"What are you talking about, Vikavolt hasn't landed a hit, there's no way Hitmonchan can be hurt."
Max snorted a little, does he seriously not realize it, wow, that sucks.
"Except Aerodactyl used Stealth Rock on the battlefield."
Trent froze as he realized what was happening, how could I've forgotten.
He called a final command in a last-ditch effort to win, "Use Mach Punch."
Hitmonchan jumped into the air and swung his fist at Vikavolt. He made contact and Vikavolt fell to the ground, and once Hitmonchan made contact with the ground he fell as well.
Both trainers recalled their Pokemon and selected their next ones.
"Swampert, go," Trent yelled, releasing the blue, amphibian-like Pokemon.
"Braviary," Max shouted.
"Use Waterfall."
Swampert charged at Braviary who dodged the attack easily.
Bonnie's P.O.V.
"A Swampert, wow an actual colored Pokemon in this kid's team, I mean why does he even have one, shouldn't he have like an Aggron instead," May said, her voice dripping with sarcasm.
"Swampert's his starter," I said, "Trent has always had a soft spot for it."
"Hmm," Ash said.
"What's up?"
"I'm trying to think what they'll do, Trent has to realize he'll never hit Braviary, right?"
I stared off into space for a bit before a red flash caught my eye, Trent had replaced Swampert with Electrivire.
"I love my little brother almost more than anything, but he's screwed."
A/N: Alright, so only a few chapters left which are the rest of Trent and Max's battle, Bonnie's semi-final, and the final so wish me luck since school started yesterday.
