In a Different Life

Author's Note: So it has literally been 6 months since I last updated and I apologize. I'm taking up Architecture in College and it has really been hell for me. I also had a breakdown a few months back because I feel like I've been doing nothing of worth in my life and that kind of hindered my creative spark. This chapter is mostly focusing on Ariel and I can say that this has been the shortest chapter I have written for this story. I'm sorry for that. Thank you to those that REVIEWED, FAVOURITED, or FOLLOWED this story. I hope that you'll still support this story.
"Ariel! Hey wait up!" A girl with extremely long hair shouted down the halls of their High School. She was running towards her friend with her painting in tow.
"Hey Punzie, what's up?" The redhead asked.
"The art teacher just gave me a new spot on the Nest!" She said gleefully. The Nest was a space for artists to display their artworks in school, it was in the middle of the school's second floor. Only talented students are given the privilege to showcase their work. Sometimes, if they were lucky, it would be displayed in the local art museum after a certain amount of time.
"That's great! I'm so proud of you!" Ariel replied, clasping her hands together. She knew that Rapunzel has a lot talent and supported her in many ways. Sometimes she even offered to pay her friend's art supplies, which the enthusiastic blonde refused. She didn't want to seem like a charity case. The redhead fully respected her decision and would only buy art supplies in special occasions such as Rapunzel's birthday or Christmas.
"Thanks! I have to go and turn it in, I'll be back in a second though," Rapunzel said as she started walking towards the art room.
"I'll come with you," Ariel insisted. She had something she wanted to get off her chest and she believed that telling Rapunzel would help her.
"Sure!" They walked in comfortable silence. The redhead wasn't sure on what to say and how to start it.
"Um… hey, Rapunzel?"
"What is it, Ariel?" The older teen looked at her friend, she has always been there for Ariel ever since she got the scholarship for Die Krone High School. Her first impression of Ariel was that the girl was kind of odd, maybe it was to be expected since the girl just moved a year ago from Denmark. Nevertheless, the blonde wasn't one to judge, after all with her current living conditions she grew up to be humble.
"Remember that guy from the Aquarium?" The younger teen fiddled with her fingers, a blush sporting on her face that is almost the same shade as her hair.
"Oh! You mean the one?" She gave her a knowing look and nudged Ariel with her elbow. The blush deepened a shade darker and the redhead could only nod her head in response.
"What about him?" Rapunzel asked, and after a few seconds she gasped and look at her friend. "WAIT. Did you see him again? DOES HE GO TO THIS SCOOL?" The blonde asked wildly, she was pretty interested in the younger teen's love life. It was like a fairytale, if fairytales were real.
"Ah, well…" Ariel tried to calm the blonde in front of her, it was after school and not a lot of people were around but she could tell that her friend was getting worked up.
"I did see him… you know at the party? I don't think he goes to this school, he's a bit older" She said sheepishly. The blonde had her mouth open, she couldn't believe it! Ariel's crush was at the party and she didn't know who it was. The party was almost two weeks ago, how come the redhead just brought it up now?
"Woah woah, hold up! You mean to tell me… that he was there and you didn't even approach him?" Rapunzel asked exasperatedly. She could not believe it. "Who was he? Girl, you should have told me, we could have approached him or something," she said as she shook her head. Well, knowing Ariel's shy nature it would take around thirty minutes worth of convincing for her to actually approach someone, especially when she has feelings for them.
"Well, he was the guy you were talking to, at the party. You know the guy with luscious black hair and gorgeous blue eyes?" she sighed dreamily as she recalled how handsome the man was.
"OH MY GO- You mean Eric?! Eric Fisker?!" Oho, this is going to be good.
"Y-You know him?" She asked the blonde and Rapunzel nodded.
"I can you know, hook you up if you want?" The older teen winked at her friend and Ariel's face turned as dark as her hair. She laughed at the redhead's reaction. Who knew that her little underclassman had a crush on her friend?
"A-Ah, I-I don't know. I'm not really into hooking up." She replied as she looked to the side, gripping the straps of bag in embarrassment.
"I didn't mean it literally, I meant like, I could give you his number or something" She said as she stopped in front of the art room. The younger teen was at a loss, and Rapunzel could tell that she was having an internal battle with herself. She giggled and placed her hand on Ariel's shoulder. Giving her a comforting pat.
"Hey look, I'm gonna go give this to the teacher and I'll be right back. In the meantime, you can think it over, okay?" She flashed the redhead a smile and her friend smiled back and nodded in agreement.
When Rapunzel left, Ariel contemplated on what to do, she could ask for Eric's number but then wouldn't it be too weird if she messaged him out of the blue? Or maybe she'll just hold on to these feelings and if fate permitted, she'll be able to meet him again coincidentally.
'Ahhhh, what to do….'
She was looking at the ground with her brows furrowed. Maybe she shouldn't think about it too much, the guy was pretty much older than her anyways so there's no way in hell he would give her his time of day. Being so preoccupied in her thoughts, she didn't notice the blonde approaching her.
Rapunzel wrapped her arm around Ariel's shoulder, breaking her out of her trance. She grinned at the surprised redhead.
"Hey, let's go to this cafe," She suggested. "That way we can talk more about Eric~"
The redhead blushed as the blonde teased her, and nodded her head. Maybe a good cup of joe will help her clear her mind. They walked towards the exit chatting along about anything they could talk about. Little did the redhead know that her senior had something in store at the cafe.
Rapunzel's phone buzzed in her jacket. Ariel noticed it and asked whether she was going to look at it or not. The blonde shook her head and assured that it was fine. It's probably a message from her phone company or something. Even though the redhead was skeptical, she chose to believe her friend and resumed talking about an episode that aired last night.
