So many people have stated that Caboose appears to act a little too normal than usual. This was done on my part because I feel like he has gone through many traumatic experiences. He now acts like he did in early season 1 of Red vs. Blue: smart, but dim-witted. I based his new personality on Forrest Gump, who acts the same.
Anyway, enjoy!
Chapter 11: The Torchwick Crisis: Part 1
Remnant, Kingdom of Vale, Beacon Academy
POV: Professor Ozpin
Premise: Ozpin and his allies run into a pressing issue, while both the Blood Gulch Crew and Team RWBY converge on the presumed location of Roman Torchwick…
Ozpin sat at his desk with his hands on his forehead. Both Ironwood and Glynda standing on either side of him arguing much to his dismay.
"They were here.." Ironwood argued, Ozpin they were here!" he proceeded to slam his fist on the desk.
"Yes, we are all aware of that, thank you." Glynda sarcastically replied
"Fantastic!" Ironwood retorted, "You're aware! Now are we going to do something about it or should we just stay the course and continue to ignore the two things that are right in front of us!?"
The bell to the elevator then hummed, catching Ozpin's attention.
"Come in." he said
The elevator door opened and out stepped Ruby, who was back in her blue outfit. Hair and everything.
"Sorry it took so long." Ruby said as she walked into the office, "Someone accidentally hit all the buttons on the elevator on the way up here...it wasn't me."
"Thank you for coming, Ruby." Ozpin said to her, "How are you feeling?"
Ruby just shrugged, "Okay, I guess. I'd feel better if my bad-guy-catching record wasn't O-for-three."
The three adults just stared at her.
"...Okay, so that's the tone we're going for, got it."
Ironwood then walked up to Ruby, "Ruby, I feel it's appropriate to let you know that I think what you did last night is exactly what being a Huntress is all about. You recognized a threat. You took action. And you did the very best you could."
"Thank you, sir." Ruby replied
Ozpin then spoke up, "Now, the general here has already informed us of the events that... transpired last night, but now that you've rested, we were wondering if you had anything to add."
"Was anyone else with her?" Glynda asked about the figure Ruby fought last night, "Did she look familiar to you at all?"
Ruby couldn't help but shrug, "I... I don't know. She was wearing a mask, and she never said anything to me. But I know she fought with glass. I don't think that was her Semblance, though. Her clothing lit up whenever she attacked. As for anyone with her, I didn't see anyone else. But the room looked like a fight did happen before I got there. On top of that, she was on her knees before she noticed me."
"Save for the glass, that sounds like the woman I fought the night we met Ruby." Glynda muttered
"Embedding dust into clothing is an age-old technique." Ironwood countered her claim, "It could have been anyone."
"Wait. You think this girl is connected to Torchwick and the White Fang?" Ruby asked them, "Or perhaps those bandits that have been White Fang cells throughout the kingdom?"
Ozpin scratched his chin, "It's possible. But we still lack the required evidence to link the former together. As for the latter, we definitely know that these bandits aren't in league with her."
Ruby raised an eyebrow, "How do you know?"
"Because they were here." Ironwood responded, "Security footage from the CCT showed the figure fighting with them. It looked like they tried to take her aura."
Ironwood proceeded to place his scroll on Ozpin's desk. A hologram of the woman from last night was shown being pinned down by a three soldier clad in pink, orange, and black/red armor.
"Donut get her ankles!" a gruff voice shouted as the pink armored soldier proceeded to do something...odd.
"NOT MY ANKLES DONUT!" a voice shouted, "THE BITCH'S ANKLES!"
"Whoops." the pink guys replied before doing so
A maroon soldier then held a container of some kind over the woman and sucked away a small portion of her aura. She screamed in the process before the elevator door opened and they all disappeared after an orange soldier detonated some kind of grenade, and they all disappeared. The feed then ended, and Ironwood picked up his scroll.
"This evidence clearly shows that these vigilantes are in no league with whoever this person is." Ironwood spoke up
The trio then looked back at Ruby, whose face was a mixture of surprise and shock.
"Ruby?" Ironwood asked, "Are you alright?"
Ruby was sucked back into reality, "Sorry, I-I think I remember her saying something about a hideout, or something, in the southeast. Just outside the Kingdom."
Ozpin couldn't help but smirk, "Interesting."
Glynda on the hand, "I thought you said the intruder never-"
"Thank you for your cooperation, Ruby." Ozpin cut in, "Why don't you go and spend some time with your team? You have a big day ahead of you."
"Any time." Ruby said as she made her way for the elevator
"And Ms. Rose…" Ozpin added, "Please try and be ... discreet about this matter."
"Yes sir." and the elevator closed before going back to the ground floor
Ironwood sighed before speaking, "Well there we have it. We send as many troops as we can to the southeast, find out exactly what's going on, and eradicate any forces that stand in our way."
Glynda couldn't help but growl in frustration at the general's conscientious militaristic mind, "Why must your answer to everything involve a triumphant display of military bravado!? You treat every situation like it's a contest of measuring di-!"
"Glynda!" Ozpin shouted to stop her rant
"Well, he does." she muttered in defense
"She's right." Ozpin said to Ironwood, "As much as I too would love to end this situation once and for all, we must remember that this may go beyond Vale. Beyond Beacon. And if this truly is part of some master plan for which we know not the final move, we mustn't be so bold. Nor can we risk the spread of panic."
Ironwood of course tried to defend himself, "I have served you faithfully for years...but if you mean to tell me that your plan is to really hold the defenses, and wait-!"
Ozpin got out of his chair, "It is not! You're a general, James. So tell me, when you prepare to go to war, which do you send in first? The flag bearers, or the scouts?"
Suddenly, a beep then emitted from Ozpin's trio looked at it and knew exactly where it was coming from. They all got into one of the elevators before taking it to the lowest floor. The room was long and dark, almost as if it was a vault. At the end of the room, were two pods, one holding a woman. Her aura appeared to be flickering slightly.
"This is the second time this has happened." Ironwood muttered glumly
"What do you think has caused this?" Glynda asked her colleagues
"Someone has attacked our attacker." Ozpin replied darkly, as he looked at the girl, "Whoever they are, they now possess what power the former took from Amber.
Suddenly an orange substance emerged from the girl, and flew off to who knows were.
"What was that!?" Glynda shouted
"James! How's her vitals!?" Ozpin asked the general
"They're fine." Ironwood replied, "In fact, her wounds are starting to heal...after…"
Ironwood began to trail off as he looked at the schematics.
"After what?" Ozpin replied
"...After the maiden powers suddenly disappeared."
POV Change: Snow Gulch
Grif was pacing back and forth outside of the Reds and Blues' infirmary. Hoping that Kai was going to be ok.
"Calm down Grif." Simmons said to his friend, "I'm pretty sure Kai will be alright."
"No she won't Simmons." Grif muttered darkly, "Whatever happened to her will force her to become an outcast in society. Then she'll become this emo shadow of her former self before waking up in a body completely nude and covered in tattoos."
Simmons just stared at him, "...Did you get that last part from Blindspot?"
"...Yeah."
"Guys relax." Wash said as he approached them, "I'm sure Kai will be good."
"Screw Kai right now." Simmons replied, "How're you doing?"
"Fine thank you." Wash said to him, "Doc gave me a scan before looking at your sister, Grif. He says that check out perfect."
"Well that's good." Grif muttered, "I was this close to stealing your wallet again."
The infirmary opened, and Tucker peeked out.
"Hey guys, come in." he said to them
The three walked into the room to see Kai standing up as if nothing was wrong. Sarge, Tucker, Doc, and Carolina were in the room as well.
"Kai!" Grif shouted, "Are you good?"
"I'm fine." Kai replied casually, "Doc, you wanted to say something?"
"Right." Doc muttered as he walked over next to Kai and started speaking, "Apparently whatever we took from that woman last night wasn't just her aura. It was something else."
"You don't say?" Sarge sarcastically commented
"I did a scan." Doc continued, "And apparently the thing that Kai absorbed was kind of power."
"Power?" Carolina repeated, "What kind of power?"
"I'm still not sure." Doc replied, "What I do know is that it's like a code of some kind. Kai only has a piece of it, a fraction to say the least."
"So the rest of that power might still be in that hacker." Wash suggested
"Perhaps." Tucker agreed with him, "But if she did all the power, she would've used it on us."
"I was thinking the same thing." Doc said to him, "Simmons?"
Simmons then spoke up, "Using an old transmitter, I rigged it to cast out a frequency similar to the power that Kai absorbed."
"Did you find anything yet?" Grif asked
"We did." Doc replied, "But we were reluctant to try to retrieve it."
"Yeah, I should be able to send a signal to 'call' the rest of the power to chrome to us." Simmons added
"Well, do it then." Carolina requested
"Ok."
Simmons proceeded to push a button on the transmitter nearby.
"Where is it?" Tucker asked no one
"Give it a second." Doc muttered
A low humming sound filled the air, and a gold substance traveled through the air before merging with Kai. It flickered slightly before going away.
"Kai?" Tucker said to her, "Are you ok?"
Suddenly, the golden visor on Kai's helmet began to give off a golden fire before disappearing.
"Whoa!" Wash shouted
"Guys! It's fine!" Kai shouted to calm them down, "I'm fine!"
"Your visor just went on fire!" Sarge cried
"I don't think it was her helmet." Carolina muttered, "Kai, take off your helmet."
Kai did so, revealing her slightly wavy hair, tanned skin, and brown eyes.
"Ok…" Carolina muttered, "Close your eyes and concentrate. Then open them again."
Kai closed her eyes and breathed in and out. She then opened them, flames emitting from them, the same color as her eyes.
"Holy shit." Tucker muttered
POV Change: Team RWBY
Team RWBY made their way into the auditorium, along with all the other students from the other four academies. Ruby put a backpack down near several others before joining her team and friends.
"Quiet! Quiet please." Glynda announced, "Professor Ozpin would like to share a few words before we begin."
Ozpin then walked up to the podium and spoke, "Today we stand together, united. Mistral. Atlas. Vacuo. Vale. The four Kingdoms of Remnant. On this day, nearly eighty years ago, the largest war in recorded history came to an end. It was a war of ignorance, of greed, and of oppression. A war that was about much more than where borders fell or who traded with whom, but about the very idea of individualism itself. We fought for countless reasons, one of which being the destruction of all forms of art and self-expression. And as you are well aware, that was something many could not stand for. As a result, those who opposed this tyranny began naming their children after one of the core aspects of art itself: color. It was their way to demonstrate that not only would they refuse to tolerate this oppression, but neither were the generations to come. And it was a trend that is held to this very day. We encourage individuality, expressionism, and unity through diversity. As I have said, today we stand together, united. But this bond cannot exist without effort. Which is why today, while the rest of the world celebrates peace, Huntsmen and Huntresses will work to uphold it. As first year students, you will be tasked with shadowing a professional Huntsman or Huntress on a mission. Some of you may be taken out of the Kingdom for several days. Others may work within the walls for the rest of the week. But no matter which path you choose, remember to be safe, remember your training, and remember to do your very best."
With his speech finished, every team made their way to gather their belongings and start to look for a mission to undertake.
Ruby however had her team, and Team JNPR.
"Guys, I've been meaning to tell you all something." Ruby said to them
"What is it?" Weiss asked
"The Reds and Blues are definently here." she explained, "They were the ones that attacked that woman last night before I showed up."
"How do you know this?" Yang asked her
"Ozpin showed me footage from the security camera in the CCT." Ruby continued, "It looked like they took some of her aura."
"Why are they doing that?" Nora muttered
"We still don't know." Blake replied
"If they were at the CCT." Jaune muttered, "Then could've been the ones who attacked that White Fang rally, and shot Torchwick's arm off."
"I was thinking the same thing." said Ruby, "If they were at the rally, then they must know of a base in the southeast."
"So all we have to do is shadow a huntsmen going in that area." Blake added
"Yeah! We'll follow them around by day and give them the slip by night!" Yang quipped
Team RWBY made their way their way to a nearby terminal.
"Let's check 'search and destroy'." Weiss suggested
Ruby pushed several buttons and found a mission.
"Here we go! Quadrant 5 needs Grimm cleared out!" Ruby said before typing in their team name...only to have it not except it, due to them being only first year students.
"Wonderful!" Weiss sarcastically commented on
"Any other ideas?" Blake asked
"We could mail ourselves there?" Ruby suggested
"Well, that's one option." Ozpin muttered as he walked up to them with a scroll tablet, "Unfortunately, we determined that the concentration of Grimm was too extreme for first-year students. It seems that particular region is rather popular. In fact, I have the sneaking suspicion that you four will make your way there no matter which job you choose."
Weiss, Blake, and Yang all glared at Ruby, who just smiled.
"Whatever makes you say that?" Ruby asked him
Ozpin smiled as well, "I'm still curious how you all found yourself at the docks last semester. I'm interested to know how you really learned about a hideout in the southeast. I also certainly wonder why witnesses reported seeing robots and rose petals in a dance club some time ago. But most of all, I am certainly interested in the audio recordings found in a helmet depicting you four in a box canyon with several soldiers…"
Each of Team RWBY's jaws hung slack open, which was quite amusing to Ozpin.
"You know!?" Weiss shouted
"For sometime." Ozpin replied as he showed Wyoming's helmet, "Wyoming here has been very informative."
"Well..um…" was all Ruby could say
"Don't feel sorry Ruby." said to her, "In fact, I should be congratulating you four. You all chose to protect a group of people who couldn't defend themselves. Managed to recognize a potential threat, and took action. On top of that, you did it twice I assume? Along with your friends."
"We did." Ruby replied, "Look, we're sorry. We now know that they're on Remnant somewhere."
"And you assume the southeast?"
The entire team nodded.
"Well then." Ozpin muttered, "Instead of waiting for you all to break the rules, why don't we just bend them?"
He proceeded to push a few buttons on his tablet and the terminal allowed Team RWBY to accept the mission.
"We won't let you down. Thank you, professor." Ruby thanked him
"Do not thank me for this." Ozpin replied, "Teamwork and persistence have carried you far. But you must understand, the things that await you beyond the protection of the Kingdom will not care. I have called back the huntsmen going on the mission, so you will have to find your friends if they are there. If not, call back a bullhead to take you back to Beacon. Team JNPR will be joining you I assume, so I will have them assigned the same mission as well. Good luck."
He started to turn away as Yang asked another question.
"Who else knows?" she asked
"Well, me, Professor Goodwitch, and General Ironwood." Ozpin answered
"How do they feel about this mission?" Blake asked
Ozpin looked back at them and smiled, "Who said I told them?" he then winked before walking away.
POV: Beacon Complex
Team RWBY made their way to the transportation system with Team JNPR. Numerous students were busy either boarding or disembarking bullheads.
"So he knows?" Jaune asked them, "About all of it?"
"Apparently so." Weiss replied, "Him, Goodwitch, and Ironwood."
"Should we be worried?" Ren asked
Yang shook her head, "I don't think so. Besides, Ozpin will probably keep Goodwitch on a tight sleesh."
Both teams proceeded to laugh at the joke until they noticed several students walking amongst the crowd. It was Team CVFY, a second-year huntsmen team. They were supposed to plan the Beacon Dance instead of Yang and Weiss. But their mission lasted longer than expected.
"Velvet." Blake said to one of its members. Like Blake, Velvet was faunus. She had brown bunny ears, long brown hair, and brown eyes. She wore a brown jumpsuit, belt, and yellow shoulder plates.
"Are you ok?" Blake asked her
"I'm fine." Velvet replied, "I had Yatsuhashi to look out for me."
"Your mission was supposed to end a week ago!" Weiss exclaimed, "What happened?"
"Nothing happened." Velvet muttered, "It was just ... there were just so many...and these two soldiers suddenly came out of nowhere and helped us…"
She looked up and noticed both the teams' worried expressions.
"Oh, but don't worry. You first-years are just shadowing Huntsmen, so you should be fine." she assured them
"Right." Nora muttered
"Soldiers?" Pyrrha muttered, "What soldiers?"
Velvet shrugged, "I don't know, they weren't Atlas. Their armor were both identical, one brown, one pink. Although the pink insisted on calling it lightish-red."
Yang narrowed her eyes, "Hmm."
"I should go." Velvet exclaimed, "Be safe, ok?"
She then left with her team.
"What do you think?" Weiss asked Ruby
"Pink and brown." Ruby muttered, "Donut and Lopez."
"I thought Wash killed them?" Blake questioned
"Apparently not." Ren muttered
"Come on!" Ruby shouted, "The sooner we find them! The sooner our questions will be answered!"
Both teams then made their way to their respected bullhead.
POV Change: The Reds and Blues
A Pelican flew over Snow Gulch before landing near Red Base. The boarding ramp lowered, and out stepped Donut and Lopez.
"Donut! Lopez!" Sarge shouted as he approached them, "Your recon mission was supposed to end an hour ago! What happened!?"
"We took a little detour." Donut explained, "Helped a huntsmen escape a cave filled with Grimm. They left on a bullhead heading back to Beacon."
"Friend of Team RWBY?" he questioned
"[We don't know.]" Lopez replied, "[I thought it best not to reveal our friendship with them, so I forced this idiot to shut his mouth on the topic.]"
"They're friends?" Sarge exclaimed, "Nice!"
"[Why do I even bother.]" Lopez groaned
"How's Kai doing?" Donut asked
"I'll explain on the way." Sarge replied, "Follow me."
Sarge led them to the conference room where everyone else was hanging out. Wash was with them back in his armor.
"Good, you guys are back." Tucker said to them
"So what's are next op?" Carolina asked him
"Infiltration." Tucker replied, "We're going to the southeast. That's where Torchwick said their operation was taking place. I found a good are where we can start looking."
"And that is?" Locus asked
"A place called Mountain Glenn." Tucker explained, "We'll start there and work our way around the entire area. Any questions?"
"I have one." Grif spoke up
Tucker looked at him, "What is it?"
"Why are we doing this?" he asked him
Everyone looked at him confused at what he had just said.
"What do you mean?" Wash asked
"Look, I want Torchwick in the ground as much as you do." Grif continued, "But why keep hiding from the kids. We should work with them! Side by side! As a team!"
Tucker nodded in agreement, "Alright then, after this. We'll go straight to Beacon."
"Good." Grif replied
"What about Kai?" Carolina asked, "What do we do with her?"
Tucker sighed, "I don't know. Kai how you feeling?"
"Great." Kai replied, "Better even, its, like this power gave a boost of energy."
"Alright." Tucker muttered, "Prep the Prowler. Let's get moving."
"Wait." Simmons spoke up, "I have to show you all something."
Tucker looked at him, "What is it?"
POV Change: Teams RWBY and JNPR
The bullhead flew into Quadrant 5 as fast as it could, soon landing in what remained of Mountain Glenn: an abandoned city district. The bullhead's doors opened, and out stepped both teams.
"This is good!" Yang said to the pilot, "Thanks!"
"Ma'am this place is filled with Grimm!" the pilot replied, "You guys won't survive a day out here!"
"We'll take our chances then!" Ruby retorted, "Head back to Beacon!"
"If you say so!" the pilot replied before taking off.
The two teams walked through the abandoned city, weapons at the ready. Making sure no stubborn Grimm tried to attack.
"How much further?" Jaune asked Ruby
"I'm not sure." Ruby replied holding Crescent Rose in one hand, and Sapphire's Rage in the other, "It's gonna get dark soon, so we better set up camp in one of these buildings. We'll take turns throughout the night watching for anything."
"There should be an old building just down the street that should be perfect." Weiss suggested
Ren looked at her, "How would you know that?"
"I learned about Mountain Glenn in my studies back in Atlas." Weiss answered, "Before coming to Beacon."
"How far is this building?" Ruby asked her partner
"Hmm, two blocks, no less." Weiss replied
"Good." Ruby muttered before she struggled to keep her backpack from moving around.
"What the heck?" Nora muttered, "What was that?"
"Oh nothing!" Ruby replied, trying to act casually
Yang rolled her eyes, "Ruby."
Suddenly, something popped up from out of the backpack. It was a small corgi with white fur and several black patches. It was panting, trying to look innocent.
"Get back in the bag." Ruby whispered to it, but the dog just barked.
"Zwei?" Yang muttered, "You brought Zwei with us?"
"Well, we couldn't just leave him." Ruby explained
"So you thought bringing him would be better?" Nora muttered while laughing at the situation
"Is he a tracking dog?" Pyrrha asked
"Uh no." Yang replied, "But dad does take him on missions when necessary."
"Then we can use his senses to find the Reds and Blues." Pyrrha suggested, "If they're out here of course."
"Do we have anything that belongs to them?" Jaune asked
"I do!" Ruby answered before diving into her backpack and retrieved her old pendant.
"Sniff this Zwei." Ruby said to the dog, who started to sniff it with curiosity. Zwei then stopped sniffing and looked up at Ruby. He then barked twice before running off down the road.
"Zwei!" Ruby shouted, "Wait up!"
"Quick! Follow him!" Weiss added before both teams darted after the dog. They followed it around a corner only to notice that Zwei somehow disappeared.
"Where'd he go?" Nora questioned
"Zwei!?" Ruby shouted, "Where'd you go!?"
"Shh!" Weiss hissed, "Be quiet."
Suddenly, both teams heard a growl. They turned around to see quite a few Beowulfs standing in the streets.
"Great." Ruby muttered
POV Change: The Reds and Blues
"1,000 people used to live here." Simmons muttered as he and Grif gazed at the abandoned city, "Now its a ghost town."
"Yeah…" Grif muttered
"Hey, come on." Sarge barked at them, "We got dozens of buildings to search. Stop holding us back."
"Yes sir." Simmons replied as the two linked up with the rest of the group and continued to walk down the empty streets.
"So tell us a bit more about this 'Mountain Glenn'." Locus asked Simmons, "You don't just build a city, and then abandon it."
"Yeah, also to take our mind off the...other thing." Wash added
"Right." Simmons muttered, "Think of Mountain Glenn, as Remnant's version of the Chernobyl disaster. It was supposed to be an extension of the Kingdom of Vale, but due to it not having enough natural barriers or security measures, it left the city completely defenseless. Eventually, Grimm managed to get into the city, and the infestation went out of hand, forcing it to be cut off from the rest of the Kingdom."
"Jesus." Wash cursed
"That does not inspire any confidence in me whatsoever." Grif added
"Just think positive thoughts guys." Tucker said to them, "We'll be fine."
"Speaking of fine." Grif announced, "How are you holding up sis?"
"Good I think." Kai replied, "I wonder what I could do with power though."
"Well, what can you do?" Sarge asked
"Just that thing with my eyes." Kai said to him, "Nothing else."
"Hmm, maybe she needs to master her powers." Doc guessed, "Like D&D."
"That's stupid." O'Malley muttered
"Well it's better than your idea." Doc retorted
"Please." O'Malley scoffed at his alter-ego
"Shh!" Carolina hissed at the group, "I hear something."
Sure enough, the sound of something sniffling was coming from an old building.
The group raised their rifles in defense.
"Get ready." Sarge announced
"This is not going to end well." Grif muttered
They waited for several more seconds until a small dog emerged from the old building. It was a small corgi that was white on the underbelly and black on the top.
"The hell!?" Simmons cried
"What's a dog doing here?" Wash questioned
The corgi then set his sights on Caboose and barked once at him.
"Uh guys?" Caboose stuttered, "I think the puppy sees me?"
"Caboose." Tucker groaned, "He can see all of us."
The corgi then barked again and ran up to Caboose, somehow knocking him down.
"Aw, he wants to play." Donut cooed, "How cute."
"Tucker help me!" Caboose said, as he struggled with the dog that was licking his visor
"Heh, I don't know dude." Tucker muttered, "I'm a lover not a helper."
"Tucker!" Caboose repeated
"Alright come here." Tucker groaned as he pulled the corgi off of Caboose. He put the odg back on the ground, who sat down and started to pant.
"You think it's wild?" Wash asked Carolina
"I don't think so." Carolina replied, "Someone check if it has a collar."
Donut walked over to the dog and looked. Sure enough, there was a collar around his neck.
"Yep, he's definitely domesticated." Donut said to them, "Says here his name is Zwei."
"That's an odd name." Tucker snorted
Zwei looked at Tucker and stopped panting.
"Odd cool I mean." Tucker quickly corrected himself, "Zwei is the best odd name there ever is!"
"Nice save." Sarge said to him
"Wait, didn't say she owned a dog named Zwei?" Grif asked everyone
"Yeah…" Simmons muttered, "If Zwei is here, then that means…"
The sound of gunfire, swords clashing, and animal howls erupted in the distance.
"[That was gunfire.]" said Lopez, "[I calculate that it is about four blocks away.]"
Zwei barked twice before growling and ran off into the city, leaving the soldier behind.
"What're you just standing there!?" Tucker shouted, "Let's go!"
Both teams proceeded to make a mad dash after Zwei.
POV Change: Teams RWBY and JNPR
BANG!
The beowulf fell down as Ruby fired one shot to its head.
"We're surrounded!" Blake shouted
"What about hiding in the building!?" Nora suggested as she slammed a Boarbatusk into the ground with Maghild
"It could be filled with as much Grimm there is outside!" Weiss shot her idea down, while freezing two Ursa Minors in place before setting them on fire
"So there's nowhere we can go!?" Yang asked before ramming her fist into small Deathstalker
"Apparently!" Jaune answered her while blocking a Beowulf with his shield
"Pyrrha look out!" Ren shouted at her teammate, noticing a large Beowulf jump and try to slash at her. Pyrrha was ready to cut it down, until…
BANG!
A sniper bullet went into the Grimm's head, blowing it to bits. Seconds later, an orange cube landed in the middle of some of the Grimm horde converging on the kids. The cube turned into a glowing sphere and the half of the Grimm suddenly disappeared.
"What was that!?" Weiss shouted
"I don't know!" Ruby answered her
Suddenly the Grimm that disappeared fell from the sky, already dead, due to their bodies fading into dust.
The remaining Grimm were about to continue attacking the huntsmen, but they were cut off by a voice.
"HEY ASSHOLES!" the voice shouted
Both the Grimm, Team RWBY, and JNPR looked at a nearby building. Suddenly, a lone figure jumped from the building as if it was going to join the battle
"YYYYYAAAAAAHHHHH!" Lavernius Tucker shouted as he fell from the roof with confidence
"Tucker!?" Blake and Yang cried
It was then that they all realized that Tucker wouldn't have a graceful landing, and his battle cry quickly turned into a scream.
"AAAAAAAHHHHH!" he shouted before hitting an overhead curtain, and hitting the ground hard. Rubble from the building proceeded to land on top of him before he was completely buried.
Nora was about to say something until even more rubble landed on Tucker, including a car, elephant, house, and to top it all off: an anvil.
"Ow." Tucker mutter casually from underneath the rubble
"Some rescue." Weiss groaned
The Grimm then looked back at the huntsmen, but they were halted again by a noise.
"What the?" Jaune muttered
"What the hell is that music!?" Blake asked no one
The question hung in Yang's head until she realized what was about to happen.
"Uh oh." she muttered
Nora looked at her, "What?"
"DUCK!" Yang shouted as something came crashing out of the building. Everyone managed to get out of the way. Sure enough, it was the Red Team's Warthog. Operated by Dexter Grif, Richard Simmons, and Sarge.
"Haha! Blamo! Eat lead Grimm! Drop and give me infinity! Sarge shouted as he shot down numerous Grimm with his shotgun.
The warthog drove through the Grimm horde, running over several of them. Most of what remained of the Grimm ran after the vehicle in anger. While the rest converged on the huntsmen.
A King Taijitu slithered up and was about to jump at them, but a black-armored soldier jumped in front of them and drew a blue sword similar to Tucker's. He raised the sword in the air and managed to cut the snake Grimm clean in half, killing it.
He then turned to the kids, "This is usually the part where Grif would say watch the show." he said to them in a robotic voice before suddenly turning invisible.
Agent Washington then appeared and threw several knives at three Ursa Minors, each planting themselves in their heads. He then grabbed a Boarbatsuk by the horn, and fired three shots from his pistol into it before throwing it into several Beowulfs. The ex-freelancer then took out his battle rifle and raised it in the other direction of his line of sight, and killed a Deathstalker that was trying to sneak up on the huntsmen.
Then, a new soldier entered the fray: a cyan one. She landed on the ground right in front of the kids before charging at a large Deathstalker at speeds that could make Ruby go run for her money. The Deathstalker tried to stab her with its piercer, but the soldier jumped in the air doing a flip, grabbed the piercer, and threw the entire scorpion Grimm into a nearby building. She then took out two identical blue-colored weapons. She fired at several scattered Grimm and out came blue plasma bolts.
"Mwahahahaha! Yes! You will all! Taste! Oblivion!" a maniacal voice laughed. A purple motorcycle then came into view carrying Frank 'Doc' DuFresne into battle. He fired two rockets at the two heads of a King Taijitu, disorienting their view.
"Donut, now!" Doc shouted from his vehicle
Franklin D. Donut jumped from the roof of a building with a large hammer in hand, and wacked one of the Grimm's head into non-existence. The other Grimm head proceeded to catch him in its mouth, seemingly swallowing him.
"Donut!" Nora shouted
Suddenly, an explosion came from the Grimm's neck killing it. Grimm then landed on the ground, unharmed.
"Man, that was a close one." he chuckled
A screech then came from the sky as two Nevermores entered the fray...until they were shot down by a machine gun. A winged bullhead-like aircraft filled the sky, shooting any Grimm in its sight.
"[Lopez the Heavy shall not let them cross the border!]" Lopez said through the ship's speakers
At that moment, Tucker finally emerged from the rubble he was underneath. He then set his sights on a Geist possessing several pieces of rock. He ducked out of the way as one of its makeshift arms tried to crush him.
"Not happening again buddy." Tucker quipped as he flipped through air and stabbed the Geist in the eye, killing it.
A Creep then roared and was about to charge at Tucker until a yellow-armored soldier knocked the creature down to its feet before firing several rounds from her SMG into its neck. To Team JNPR, it was just another soldier, to Team RWBY it was Grif's sister, Kaikainia. But to them, they just knew her as 'Sister'.
It was then that the warthog finally returned to the scene. An Ursa managed to punch the front of the vehicle, causing it to flip in the air and its passengers to fall out of their seats. But that didn't stop them one bit, the trio of red soldiers simply rolled on the ground before getting up and started running back in the direction of the huntsmen. With Sarge blowing up Grimm with his shotgun, Grif cutting them down with his own sword/blowing them with the Grif Shot, and Simmons mowing them down with two SMGs.
Soon, they were joined by the rest of the sim-troopers, all running in formation. New armor, fighting styles, equipment, everything. They were like literal demi-gods. They stopped at the kids location and turned around quickly to continue mowing down the Grimm horde.
How is it everytime we find you kids in the middle of some crazy situation!?" Sarge shouted at both teams, but he didn't get an answer.
"Caboose!" Tucker shouted, "You should help us!"
A lone blue figure then fell from the ship and landed in the middle Grimm horde with power force. Sending a shockwave that killed most of them.
The figure was of course none other than Michael J. Caboose, who just looked at the Grimm.
"I will eat all of your unhappiness!" he shouted in his angry voice, which somehow successfully scared all the Grimm out of the area they were all in.
"How did I do?" Caboose asked innocently, as he walked up to his friends
"10/10 Caboose!" Simmons answered
The groups proceeded to pat themselves on the back along with patting each other. Seeing if each Red and Blue soldier was ok. Then they addressed the elephant in the room: Teams RWBY and JNPR.
Each huntsmen had widened eyes and/or slack jaws hanging loose. Ruby was the first to be drawn back into reality, and walked up to them.
The cyan soldier walked in front of Tucker, but he told her not to.
"Tucker." Ruby muttered quietly
"Kid." he replied
Ruby then took notice of Caboose, who just said 'hello' like nothing literally happened, Zwei happened to be on his back as well, panting.
'This is going to be a long day.' Tucker thought to himself.
Well, they now have met!
