I know this is irrelevant to this story, but i just read The Lunar Chronicles and bro! It's SO good.
Yeah, so I've been just speed reading for the past few months and haven't updated any of my fics in a while.
Also, sorry that this is a shortish chapter (Insert sheepish grin)
Hope you all enjoy....
Maeve watched the young woman with glittering eyes, calculating the benefits of casting her for the role. Miss Galathynus definitely had a presence and possessed more style than anyone she'd seen that day. Perhaps she would make for a decent female lead.
She slyly glanced at Rowan who had stiffened in his chair and hadn't made eye contact with Miss. Galathynus the whole time she had been there. She wondered what background they had, she knew for a fact that they had certainly met before, but she did not know the details.
Maeve gave the girl a sweet smile. Maybe she would let this play out for a little while longer then.
Aelin laughed at Fenrys's witty comment, finding the males surprisingly easy to talk to. Well, most if them at least. It was a difficult matter getting Lorcan's jaw to unhinge a bit, but he managed a snicker at something she quipped.
Fenrys, of course was especially charming, though all smiles and flattery. His brother was little harder to impress.
Telling from the internal clock in her head that had developed from tight schedules and having to be in almost two places at the same time, she counted that they had been there for nearly forty minutes. She made a show of checking the time on her phone and allowed her hand to fly to her mouth in surprise. Aelin smiled at Maeve, walking over to the woman.
Maeve looked like a porcelain statue. Her beauty was magnified in the gorgeous dress she was wearing, black satin with pearls dangling from the neckline.
"I have a meeting in ten minutes so I have to get going." Maeve blinked, probably surprised that Aelin was asking to leave rather than being dismissed.
Maeve rose out of her seat. "Another role your trying out for?"
Aelin waved her hand at them all. "Oh, its nothing much. Just a little business meeting," she said breezily. "Here's my number if you need to reach me." She handed Fenrys a slip of paper that she grabbed ready-made from her purse.
The male's eyes gleamed, impressed by the easy exchange of numbers.
Before anyone could call after her, she opened the door and stepped through it. Pulling a phone to her ear, she conveniently prevented any run on conversation.
"No Aedion, I'll be there in five minutes... I know they have to film it by the end of the week." A long pause. "I am on my way..." Aelin said into the phone.
She gave the group a final wave before floating out of the door.
Fenrys exhaled. "Well, she sure was something." He wheeled around to look at Rowan. "How you holding up big guy?" He winked saucily. "Nice to know your soulmate is easy on the-"
Rowan stood abruptly, fist clenched, and strode for the door. He didn't look at any of them as he passed.
Maeve turned on Fenrys, eyes bright. "That girl is Rowan's mate?"
Fenrys shrugged. "That's what we suspect, Rowan won't admit to it though."
Maeve slowly sat back into her seat and clasped her hands together. Her mouth quirked up as she said, "Maybe Miss Galathynus will be getting a callback in that case."
Aelin put the phone back into her purse and looked up at the ceiling. Her heels clicked on the floor, slowly, at least for someone who had an appointment right about now.
She rubbed at her arms, gooseflesh prickling where the cold air touched.
Aelin was not excited for the verbal and physical assault she was about to endure. Aedion was probably going to work her ten times harder today for being two minutes late.
Aelin began slipping off her heels, doing a sorta hop scoot towards the door. She was about to push open the door when a husky voice said from beside her, "I hope you blew them away with your acting because we both know you can't with your stunning personality."
So, yeah...
Haven't posted in way too long, sorry about that. I've been catching up on the books I needed to read. They were staring at me from their place on the bookshelf, unopened, unloved and I felt compelled to read them.
Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this new installment of Soulmates. Let me know in the comments who you think the person speaking to Aelin in the last scene is.
Also, sorry if there were any errors or spelling mistakes. I'm a bit rusty as you can see.
