He beamed as the last one fell. Quickly sparing a glance at his partner. Eyes magnifying as she wobbled and as she began to fall he rushed to catch the bloodsucker before she could hit her head in the rough, debris-filled pavement.
He quickly assessed her condition. Releasing a bare breath of relief as he felt her pulse beat steadily beneath his fingertips. he could feel her labored breaths on his neck. She was covered in small nicks and the blood from the defeated forces they just finished off. In his panicked haze, he rationally thought to bring her to the Abyss 'infirmary', although it was more of a sterilized warehouse. He quickly activated his quirk and makes super-powered leaps to their destination with his arms protecting his unconscious Himiko.
He paced back and forth waiting on the outlawed doctors' diagnosis. All too suddenly he was grabbed by his coat and shoved into the wall.
"YOU SAID YOU WOULDN'T LET HER GET HURT, YOU FUCKING LIAR, WHY ISN'T IT YOU IN THERE INSTEAD OF MY TOGA. IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN YOU, YOU BASTARD"
'Magne one of the recruits that came with Miko-chan', his adrenaline buzzed mind provided helpfully while he remained unresponsive.
'I deserved this. I always hurt them. Why do I even let them get close, they only end up hurting.'
Twice, who had rushed in with Magne and stood behind while she talked, abruptly spoke from the wall he leaned against.
"Magne is right you know it should have been you in that room. Toga-san shouldn't have been hurt in your place. So why was she, huh Boss", Twice said in an isolated moment of cognitive control.
As he opened his mouth to respond, still being held against the wall by Magne still grasping his coat he was hindered by a quiet cough from the medic that was looking after Himiko. Magne removed her grip on Izuku and hastily darted to the doctor's side inquiring about Toga. Izuku staggered and wobbled trying to regain his balance, still avoiding eye contact with the others, and began listening to the doctor as he answered Magne's questions.
"She's fine just suffering from a bit of fatigue, both physical and quirk exhaustion, and various minor lacerations, nothing that won't heal with some rest and basic medical assistance.", the unlawful doctor said.
As soon as the words reached his ears Izuku snapped his head up and repeated the physician's words, "….she's….fine". His glassy and unfocused eyes landed on Magne, then Twice, quietly he whispered, "... she's fine….".
And his eyes began closing as he swayed and collapsed. His coat that he was previously holding closed opened and revealed the puncture wound in his side that had a steady flowing pool of blood being absorbed by his top.
The doctor and the two other villains, unnerved, go to check him and his status. Eyes wide and panicked Toga watched from the crack in her door as her love was placed on a stretcher and carted off bloody.
