Spinel warped to Stevens house, bearing good news. She called out, "ooooooooooooh-"

"Wh- SPINEL? Why are you in my house-" a familiar voice asked.

"Oh hello there. I come with good news, we are having a ball on homeworld and the diamonds want you and your friends along!" She smiled childishly.

Steven perked up. "Really? Another ball? Aren't they supposed to happen like, every 6000 years, not 2 years and a half?" He questioned.

Spinel sighed. "I guess, but hey, I didn't come up with the idea, just be there, Aight?"

"Sure." Steven sighed, still waking up.

"So yeah, we are having a ball on homeworld tonight then, apparently they've been planning it for a few days, and haven't told me until now so.." Steven explained to the gems.

"Oh cool!" Amethyst perked. "I just hope it won't end up like LAST time.."

"Surely it won't." Pearl scoffed.

"Steven... can I talk to you?" Garnet sighed.

"Uh yeah?" Steven nods as they both are headed out the door to watch the sunset.

"The ball, it won't end very well.. that's only a few of my visions, but still. I think you should know before we head out." Garnet explained.

"What? What will happen?" The curious yet frightened diamond asked.

"I'm not sure, it just, might not end up so pretty for you or/and spinel.." she sighed.

"Well, this is important to them, I hope we can risk it for them." He proposed.

"Sure, but don't say I didn't warn you.."

They were right on time. The 4 gems warped in to the palace, eager for tonight, at least, Pearl and amethyst were. They weren't told. Steven was on edge, and wanted to take precaution. The diamond walked in, the courts were there, but scattered. Steven smiled, they weren't forced to be in their individual classes anymore. He saw Lemon Jade, the fusion who risked their lives for them. He gently waved. Not sure if they noticed, they were chatting with a Jasper. He was happy they could all mingle together. He noticed the familiar pink gem, waving to him to sit on the throne for pink diamond. "Glad you showed up, Universe." The gem replied in her normal high pitched New York accent. He nodded, sitting beside her on the larger than usual pink chair. He was quiet, glancing around. "What's got you on edge, mister?" She asked softly. Surprisingly a serious hint in her casual voice. "Well, garnet had this vision--"

He was interrupted by the introduction for each and every diamond. They greeted each other kindly. The ball had begun.

The crystal gems sat along the stairs. Amethyst got up, waving goodbye. She walked down to mingle with some quartzes. Pearl walked over to catch up with the 2 equals of her kind. Garnet stayed on the steps, cautious. Steven could sense that. Spinel was careless as ever, then suddenly, the pink gem got a strange feeling in her chest. It was fear and worry, as far as she could tell. She she grew nervous for no reason, Steven notices she was acting off. "Is something wrong?" He was worried. "Oh uh, not really, just a bit on edge for some reason?" She questioned what she said aswell. She started squeezing her fluffy pigtails in stress. After a while, spinel started panicking. This was a huge stump for herself, as she really wasn't feeling anything abnormal. It's just, a knee-jerk reaction to whatever aura was being created in the ball room. She jumped up onto the top of the pink throne to get a better look at everything.

Spinel jerked her gaze all around the ballroom. Steven was now VERY concerned, but he didn't say anything, he walked down to garnet. "She's acting odd, is this what you saw?" He asked the wise gem. "Yes.. this is how it starts... can you calm her down?" She asked. Steven nodded, standing up. But when he did, he felt a huge weight hit his body, tumbling him down the huge flight of stairs. It was spinel. She had, attacked him?? No, no, he would be dead by now. Wait...

He looked up. The gem had no interest in making eye contact with him. She snarled loudly, looking behind him. She leapt forward, attacking.. something. It was a gem, with an arrow weapon. Everything was starting to make sense, was this the bad thing? An assassin?? Spinel was taking well care of it, poofing it easily. She was luckily grabbed by pearl to avoid further conflict. Garnet bubbled the gem before spinel could do anything further. "Let me go!" She squealed. "First, explain why you wanted to shatter another gem after attacking Steven?!" Pearl snapped. "Excuse me? I saved his GODDAMN life!" She spat back.

"Wait!" Steven yelled to pearl. "That gem attacked me! She's telling the truth, I think it was an assassin." Spinel scoffed. "Now let me go, dumbass!"

"Excuse me--" pearl huffed, letting the pink gem go. "You heard me." Spinel laughed. Garnet pulled pearl away. "We need to find more, if there was one, theres most likely more and a mastermind." Steven looked towards the bubble garnet was holding, "wait... bluebird! Those are bluebird's gems! Eyeball and Aquamarine!" Spinel and Amethyst were sitting in the background, Amethyst giving her a pat on the back in comfort, a bit confused by the situation.

"Correct." The diamonds yelled. "Ugh, but they need to have opinions! We can't take away opinions anymore!" "Yes, but when it comes to violence, they must be stopped, there's a limit to where freedom can go, everywhere." Steven explained.

"So, assassins want Steven dead." Spinel huffed.

"Actually, they want Steven and YOU dead.. I had many different visions, you were both targets, if they weren't stopped, you both could have been badly hurt, or killed." Garnet sighed.

"Well shit." Spinel sighed.
