(Kelly POV)
It was the next day after I met Rosalie, we gotten to school as we parked the car as we got out. Looking around, I saw that the Cullens aren't here yet so me and the others decided to just hang around Clint's Chevrolet Corvette Z06 and Bella Chevrolet Camaro.
"So how did it go yesterday?" Bri asked us since she and Bella decided not to listen in to what we talked about.
"It went alright. We just need to wait and see now" I said to them as we saw a jeep pull up with Emmett standing at the back.
"Shall we head in?" Clint asked us before Bella got hit with a small pebble as we looked at Mike, Angela, Jessica and Eric kicking around a soccer ball as Clint shakes his head as they went back to playing as we looked at the Cullens who were climbing up the stairs as I saw Alice looking at us before Jasper placed an arm around her as she looked away.
"Jealous?" I asked Clint who looked at me in surprised while I smirked at him. He was really making this too easy.
"Really? I barely know her Kelly" He said to me shaking his head as I could see he was trying to fight back some emotion in his eyes.
"He's jealous" Bri said as she left to go into the school while I followed her smirking.
"It's alright to be jealous" Bella said following after the two while Clint just stood there gaping.
"I'm not jealous" He said following after us as I heard the bell ring as me and Bella went to our class.
The class ended as I walked with the group to the cafeteria as we took our seat as I glanced over at the Cullen table and saw Edward was missing.
"Guys did you see that" Bella asked us as I nodded since he was in yesterday which meant he smell something about Bella. I was trying to remember about some of the things I read last night but I couldn't remember it. It was about how some vampires are attracted to certain people but that was it.
"We'll talk more about this later" Clint said as I knew the reason why was because we were about to start the research we need to do later. Me, Bella and Bri headed to the bathroom as I turned the faucet on and splashed some water on my face to try to keep me awake while Bella washed her hands as Bri went into the stall.
"Tired?" Bella asked me as I nodded since we stayed out longer than we thought and I wasn't in the mood to be my usual snarky and sarcastic self. I heard the stall open as Bri stepped out before we noticed Rose and Alice looking at us. I raised an eyebrow as they were looking at us as Rose had chillingly cold eyes while Alice looked at us curiously before we decided to head out of the bathroom. The bell ring as I headed to Spanish class as I noticed the teacher wasn't there.
"Mrs. Goff isn't here today. Something came up with her husband, so she had to leave" Mike said as I took my seat beside Rose as I looked at her before taking out a sketchpad and started drawing.
"So, where's Edward?" I asked her bluntly since I didn't want to beat around the bush.
"He had to see some family. What were you four talking about in the parking lot?" She asked back as I just snickered.
"Clint was jealous, and he was trying to deny it" I said shrugging as Rose looked at me interested.
"Is that so? So, he's interested in Alice?" She asked me smirking which I thought as cute.
"You can say that but he's never gonna make a move. He's too...him" I told her since Clint wasn't exactly the type to make a move unless he knows the feelings, he has were real.
"Is that so? How about you?" Rose asked which made me look at her with a raised eyebrow wondering where she was going with this.
"I rather get to know her better before making a move" I said to her as she looked at me interested smirking.
"That's nice to know" Rose said as I just nodded at her while I couldn't help but stare at her as she noticed as she was smirking.
"Enjoying the view?" She asked me as I nodded without even thinking which just made her smirk more before I realized what I did.
"Yeah well why wouldn't I? I'm in the presence of an angel" I said to her while I was pouting inside when I realized she couldn't blush as she just smiled at me.
"Thank you. So what's the story behind the charm on your bracelet?" She asked as I looked at the bracelet with a clock charm on it since it was the connection between me and Clockwork. It was also the connection between me and the others. We all have some sort of item that connects us to our alter ego.
"It was a gift from my friends. I'm a fan of a myth surrounding clocks" I said to her as I could see her try to connect the dots as if she was realizing something while I hid my smirk.
"I see" Rosalie said simply while she looked at what I was drawing and froze after seeing what it was and noticing how close she was to me. It made me blush a bit before I stopped as I looked at her before realizing that I can just stare into her eyes.
"You okay there? Also, what's with the cold eyes in the bathroom?" I asked while staring into her eyes as I felt myself get lost in those amber-like eyes of hers.
"No. I'm fine and I wasn't sure how to judge your two other friends there" She said a bit strained as if trying to fight an urge to do something as I just shrugged.
"So I'm friends with the local Ice Queen then" I said off handedly as I just could feel her being smug as I just chuckled since I knew I liked her for a reason.
(Rosalie POV)
I couldn't believe what I saw what she was drawing. It was Clockwork and it was extremely detailed down to the very last one. Not only that, Her scent, it was becoming more and more harder to control myself around her since it was just yelling out to me at this point but I need to stop this. I don't know why but it's like I also have a connection to her which was the same one I have with Clockwork. Are Kelly Marie and Clockwork the same person. I just hope Alice is having a easy time around Clinton.
(Alice POV)
I'm having a hard time around Clinton. My thirst was getting worse which never happened before. The smell of a ocean breeze and the wind of a dark forest night was practically driving me at this point. There was also the fact that him and Ticci were the same person but I couldn't prove it since there wasn't a lot of evidence to base off even when I use my gift I can't get a clear image of his face. I can't deny the fact that my connection to him and Toby were the same. I'm just glad Ms. Melody isn't here since she's gotten sick
"Alice you okay?" I snapped out of my thoughts hearing Clint voice as I looked at him when I saw worry in his eyes which I couldn't help but smile at.
"Yeah. Just some thoughts" I said to him as he pulled a seat in front of me as he looked at me both with curiosity and nervousness. It was cute look on him if I was being honest.
"Want to talk about it?" He asked as I felt giddy since I could get some details and answers from him if I was careful enough.
"Sure. It's just there's this guy I like and well he doesn't want to tell me who he is" I said to him while I watched him closely before I saw his eyes gain a flicker of sadness which surprised me since it was the same way Toby looked when he was a bit sad.
"Maybe he's just scared of what you'll think of him" He said somberly while I frowned at that. I would never judge him for what he does. Just what can I do to show him that.
"I'm not gonna judge him for what he does. If he doesn't then there would be a lot more dead" I said to him which was true since I was a vampire. He looked at me as if he was trying to figure out if I was lying or not.
"Glad to see not everyone is willing to judge based from what they see at first" Clint said smiling as I just smile back which made him turn away and going back to his music notebook as I peeked over his shoulder and saw him jolting down some lyrics for a song.
"What kind of song are you writing?" I asked him as he looked at me with surprised before I noticed how close we were. He stared at me which made me feel giddy inside as he had a small blush on his face before he went back to writing. I had to restrain myself since his scent was just intoxicating and was just yelling at me. I had to pull back.
"Just a simple song. Nothing too special besides I don't think your blonde sister will like me that much" He said smirking looking at me while I just smiled at since Rosalie was protective of her family.
"Well she's protective of her family" I replied in return as he chuckled which made my heart soar hearing it.
"I can relate. Kelly, Bri and Bella are my family after all" He said as the bell ring as he stood up and grabbed his bag and left. I stood up and noticed he left his notebook behind as I grabbed it. I looked at it and was debating whether or not if I should open it. I opened the notebook with lyrics to a song named Memories as I keep flipping through the pages before I saw something that caught my breath. It was a drawing of me and Ticci except he didn't have his mask or goggles on. It wasn't the drawing that caught me off caught but it was his face. The drawing was the exact one I saw in my vision if it was more alive. We were on a cliff looking out into the water. I closed it as I ran up to catch him as I saw him and tap his shoulder as he looked at me curiously.
"Did I forget something?" Clint asked before he noticed his notebook in my hand as his eyes widen in surprise.
"Yeah. You kinda forgot this" I said handing him his notebook as our hands touch again as I felt a spark of electricity go through me as I pulled back quickly and I couldn't help but feel glee since that was really a good sign.
"Um…You didn't take a look at it did you?" He asked a bit nervous as I smile slightly knowing what he was nervous about.
"Just the first page" I said to him as he sighed as I could hear his heart beat a bit faster than normal which made me curious.
"Anyway, Thanks. I better go" He said as I nodded before he left while I used my vision to look into the future but frowned when I realized I couldn't see anything. I looked at where he left as I wondered what was preventing me from seeing our future.
(Kelly POV)
The school day ended as we were back at the base as we were inside the Hologram room as Clinton was at the hologram table as Bri was at the main computer. Bella had her laptop and I was holding my tablet as we were busy searching on different sites for information on the Cullens.
"It's weird. All the information on all government files are completely filled to the point I can't trace it back" Bri said as Clinton was flipping through different old files ranging from the nineties to the sixties.
"I'm surprised that the government or even the FBI haven't tracked us down yet" Bella said as she was typing away on her laptop looking up some things on the internet.
"Doubt it. All our technology in the base are off grid meaning they can't track us here" Bri said since she was the one who was busy with the whole coding thing.
"I found some files on them but they just contain what we already know" He said before stopping on something as his eyes widen in surprise.
"Found something?" I asked him as he nodded. I went over to him to see what it was about and it was surveillance from a few hours ago.
"What the fuck?" I asked shocked seeing three people. One female and two male chasing down a security guard.
"We're gonna check that out right?" Bella asked as Clint nodded while I looked at my tablet and saw a book but it was in Port Angeles.
"I also found something. A book about what people call The Cold Ones. Give you three hints what it's about but first guess doesn't count" I said to them as I could see the gears turning in Clinton and Bri head.
"We need to find a good reason to head there. Don't want the Cullens to be suspicious about what we're doing" Bri said since she has a point. I do not want to get on the bad side of Rosalie.
"Right. If a opportunity comes out for two of us to head there. We take it but for now we better check out what happened there at the Grisham mill. It's in Mason County and considering it's a three and a half drive we better take the chopper" He said as we changed into our regular armored outfit as I slipped my mask with a clock in it's right eye on as it activated as I looked around seeing it identify everything.
"Ready to go Clockwork?" Jane asked as we headed to the launch pad as Jane and I got into the pilot seats as Toby and Thorn got in the back as the hatch above us opened up as there was some water that fell on top of the chopper before it was clear as the two sides surrounding it were like waterfalls.
"Alright. All skies are clear for take off" I said to Jane who flipped a few switches on the headboard before she slowly pulled up the Attack Blackhawk. It was gonna be a long flight.
(Two Hours Later)
It wasn't long but still it was pretty boring. I had to take my mind off before I realized something as I looked at the four. It was bugging me during school even to this point as there were still some pieces we didn't get.
"Anyone know the reason why Eddie boy wasn't in school today? Rosalie just told me it was for a family visit" I asked them as they just shrugged.
"No clue. We don't have a lot of clues to base on right now. We just need to wait for the clock to strike" Toby said while I just nodded before blinking as I could have sworn he told a pun as I looked at him and saw a small smile under his mask.
"We're here. Found a place to land and activating the chopper ghost mode" Jane said flicking some switches as I couldn't hear anymore noise from the rotors at this point. She landed the chopper in a isolated forest as I looked around using the camera and saw no one was near.
"We're good to go" I told them. We got out and Toby activated his ghost ability as we activated the arm tablet we have and selected the cloak feature. I linked my mask to the cloaking feature as I could see everyone outline as we started moving. We got there and saw a ladder as we climbed it to the top. We started running to the mill and we stopped when we saw the body.
"Look around and remember, leave no trace" Toby said going over to the body and looked at it since we were wearing gloves. I looked around activating my mask trace feature as I could see a footprint on the ground and scanned it.
"They couldn't come from inside the building. All the doors are locked" Thorn said coming back from her search inside the building. Jane looked at her a bit worried about something.
"No one saw you right?" Jane asked as Thorn nodded as I let out a sigh of relief as I went over to Ticci who was scanning the body.
"Found anything?" I asked him as he nodded before he looked around as if trying to figure out something.
"Vampire bites. Seems we got either rogues or vampires that aren't part of any coven" He said as I frowned at that since even with that. We couldn't chase them down since there were some rules placed on us.
"Now what?" Thorn asked before it started raining as we ran back to the chopper.
"Now we go back to base and hopefully not get sick" Ticci said as I slapped the back of his head annoyed at his tempting the universe.
"Don't tempt it" I told him as he rubbed his head grumbling. I helped Bri take the chopper off as we flew back to base to get some rest.
(The Next Day)
Good news is that no one gotten sick yet. So we got ready for school while filling our pets food bowl just enough until we get home. I saw Bella was on her phone talking to her dad. If it is what I think it is. Hopefully we didn't leave our tracks too open.
"Alright. Stay safe Dad" Bella said hanging up as I looked at her with a raised eyebrow before she rolled her eyes as I nodded knowing what it was as we headed out of the house before Bella slipped on a patch of ice as I just laughed at her.
"Oh god...That…That was fucking hilarious" I said laughing hard as I saw Clint and Bri help her up before Bella tensed up looking around.
"Someone's here" Bella said looking around on edge. I tensed up as we went into the garage as Clint tilted a hammer on the wall as a panel opened up revealing four Five-Seven pistols as he handed us one each as we went out looking around.
"Bri, Kelly. Head left. Bella with me" Clint said as he and Bella went inside the house to make sure no one was in it as I covered Bri back as she climbed down the stairs gently looking around.
"Clear" She said tapping me as I went up the stairs and made sure it was clear. I gestured Bri up as she climbed past me and went around the house. I went in front of the house and looked at the other side seeing no one was here.
"Clear" I said as Bri nodded coming back looking around frowning as Clint and Bella joined us again.
"House is secure" Clint said as I can't help but wonder what that was about. I looked around one more time before getting into the driver seat as we left for school. I can't help but wonder if it was one of the Cullens or one of the Vampires that attacked that guard.
We entered Biology Class as I was glad it was the last class of the day as I brushed off some water off my hoodie. I see Clint brushing some out of his hair as I could see Bri pulled back her hood as we walk into class with Eric talking to us about something.
"And yeah, prom committee is a chick thing, but I gotta cover it for the paper anyway, and they need a guy to help choose the music. So I need your playlist" Eric said as I raised my eyebrow before frowning since I couldn't ask Rosalie since we weren't that close.
"Come on, you four. Give it up for the rain" Mike said shaking his wet baseball cap on Bella and my head as I glared at him which made him go to his seat.
I saw Bella freeze and I see why. It seems that the recent Pretty boy vampire is back. I watched Bella take her seat while I took mine looking at the two. I see that Bri and Clint were also paying attention as we knew one thing. This was gonna be interesting.
(Bella POV)
Well this should be interesting. I thought my day couldn't get worse but apparently Edward here decided to make it so. Don't get me wrong he was handsome sure but after that. I really couldn't see the appeal as to why most girls like him.
"Hello. I didn't have a chance to introduce myself last week. My name is Edward Cullen" He said which made me freeze. Last time he was staying away from me like I was the last thing he wanted to smell. Now he was talking to me but I noticed something. He was straining with every word he speaks.
"You're Bella" He said which made me surprised he even knew my name.
"Well that is my name" I said to him focusing on Mr. Molina while he sits on the extreme edge of his seat which just made me even more confused.
"Onion root tip cells! That's what's on your slides. Separate and label them into phases of mitosis. The first partners to get it right, win…the golden onion!" Mr. Molina said holding up a spray painted onion. I heard Kelly snort followed by a small hit and her whining at Bri. I looked at Clint and saw him blinking as if trying to see if he was even awake. Edward pushes the microscope closer to me but kept his distance.
"Ladies first" He said while I frowned hearing his voice more controlled now. I snap the first slide in and adjusted the scope.
"You've been gone. Went to see some family?" I asked him as I quickly looked at him seeing he was a bit out of comfort which made me smirk. So he was out of town but not for that reason.
"I was" Edward said as he looked away as his face was a bit tighter than normal. I looked back into the microscope.
"Prophase" I said to him as I was about to take out the slide.
"May I look?" He asked as I slide him the microscope and he looked into the scope.
"Prophase" He said writing the answer on the worksheet while I rolled my eyes at him.
"That's what I said" I said sarcastically under my breath.
"Enjoying the rain?" He asked while I frowned. He was taking a lot of effort into just talking to me which was really suspicious.
"Really? Enjoying the rain? You're really gonna ask me about the weather?" I asked him surprised and a bit annoyed at him.
"It appears" Edward said while I frowned at him.
"No. I don't like the cold. Or the wet. Or the gray. Or the parkas. Or turtle necks" I told him while thanking Kelly for all the acting classes she taught me since I experienced worse when I joined the Hunters. I saw a small smile on his lips which made him look more intrigued than agonized.
"What?" I asked him a bit annoyed as he shakes his head and switched out the slide as I looked at Clint who shrugged since even, he didn't know what was that about. I looked at Edward as I got a closer look at him. He looked like he was sculpted by a sculptor. His cheekbones, his lips. He looks a bit perfect before I snapped out of it. Yeah not gonna jump to any conclusions there.
"Anaphase" Edward said as I looked at him with a raised eyebrow.
"May I?" I asked him as he slides the microscope as I looked through it.
"Anaphase" I said as I looked at him and saw him smirking.
"Like I said" He said while I shake my head and hold my hand out as he hands me another slide.
"If you hate cold and rain, why move to the wettest place in the continental U.S.?" He asked me as I placed the slide and take a look.
"It's complicated" I said to him hoping he would stop since I wasn't comfortable talking about it.
"I think I can keep up" He said while I wondered why he seemed so interested now. He wasn't like that before when I first sat down beside him.
"My mother remarried, and I figured it would be nice to live with my friends" I told him which confused me since why was I opening up to him.
"Very complex. So, you don't like him? Why live with your friends though?" He asked me while I try to figure out why he wanted to get to know me.
"Phil is fine. Young for her, but nice enough. Clint, Kelly and Bri are like a second family to me. I can be myself and they won't judge" I told him hoping he would stop as he just looked at me while I went back to what I was doing.
Time went by quickly as the bell rings. I handed in our worksheet as he gave me the golden onion. I exit class when I run into Edward which startled me.
"Why didn't you stay with your mom and stepdad?" He asked me which took me back since he wasn't the guy who seems to care about something like that.
"Why do you care?" I asked him while I went around him before I decided to stop and figured if I answered him maybe he'll stop.
"You know what? Phil's a minor league baseball player, so he travels a lot. My mother stayed home with me but it made her unhappy. So I decided to come here with my friends and live with them while spending time with my father" I told him hoping that by some miracle he would stop now.
"But now you're unhappy" He said which made me do a double take as I look at him both in surprise and annoyance. I was perfectly happy with my friends here since they became part of the family I have.
"I'm perfectly happy thank you very much. I have my friends who are like family to me. I have my parents who care and guess what? They make me happy since they don't push any questions that make me uncomfortable" I told him annoyed at this point. I turned around to leave when he placed a hand on my shoulder as I felt a small spark.
"I'm sorry. I'm just trying to figure you out. You're very hard to read" He said which made my mind come up to two conclusions. He's either trying to get to know me better or he can't read my mind. Knowing one was way off. It means he was the mind reading vampire Clint encountered but it also means he can't read my mind.
"Did you get contacts" I asked him hoping to change the topic since what he's asking might lead down to us being discovered.
"No" He answered after some hesitation which made me wonder if it was related to their hunger or something else.
"Sure. Why were your eyes black before, yet now they're this golden brown or" I said to him before he cut me off.
"It's just the fluorescents" He said as he left which made me look at him as I frowned as he left. I looked at his hands which were clenched into fists. I was both intrigued and frustrated.
I went out of the building and headed to the car while being careful to avoid the ice patches on the ground. I reached the car but I saw that my three fellow hunters aren't there yet as I waited for them. I looked across the lot and saw Edward talking to his siblings. I looked away and saw Clint, Bri and Kelly going down the stairs. I looked back at Edward and saw him looking somewhere. I heard a high pitched screech that keeps growing louder. I looked to the right and saw a van skidding on the ice.
I saw that Clint and the others rushing towards me hoping to reach me in time. I saw Tyler trying to gain control then shielding his face. I saw Edward looking at me in horror. The van was about to hit me when something knocks me to the ground. I look up and saw Edward on top of me as I just stared at him while I felt that same shock go through me. I saw his hand buried in the side of the van leaving a dent. He looked at me with a face of fear.
The screaming started. I saw people going to Tyler to make sure he was ok. Clint, Bri and Kelly went over to me while Edward moves into the background. I saw Clint telling everyone to give me some space as he called Mike to help him as he did just that. Kelly was yelling and cursing at Tyler for what he almost did. Bri was checking on me to make sure I was okay since she was the team medic.
"You okay there Bel?" She asked me as I just nodded while she yelled at Eric to call an ambulance. I looked at the Cullens and see them look at him with disapproval and fury.
"At this rate you'll die before us Rook" Clint said to me lightheartedly while I snorted. I looked at him before nodding to the Cullens as he knew what I was thinking and we both agreed on one thing. Edward almost blew the Cullens secret but why they were keeping it a secret was still the mystery we need to solve.
