(Clinton POV)
We were in the Treatment area as we stood beside Bella as the E.R. Doctor was shining a pen light into her eyes. I looked at the next gurney over and see Tyler laying down with a mild head wound. I heard the doors burst open and saw Charlie rushing in his face white with terror as he rushed over to Bella.
"Bells. Are you alright?" He asked while I heard Kelly snort hearing that nickname.
"I'm fine, dad. Calm down" Bella said as I could see Tyler looking guilty, but we can't blame him. Anyone could have lost control of their car like that considering this weather.
"I'm so sorry, Bella. I tried to stop" Tyler said which was true. He did try to stop the van but couldn't.
"It's okay, Tyler. Anyone could have lost control with all the ice on the road" Bella said which made me feel a bit proud and I could have sworn Kelly was a bit smug.
"It sure as hell is not okay" Charlie said. I looked at him and decide to wait a bit to see how it plays out before doing something.
"Dad it's not his fault" Bella tried to explain to her dad.
"We nearly lost you" Charlie said which made me look at him. He was concerned which was understandable but last thing we need right now is for him to do something that shouldn't be done.
"But you didn't besides Kelly already yelled and cursed at him for what he did" Bella said as Charlie looked at Kelly who was smirking proudly while Tyler winced.
"And I thank you for the fact I could use my wide range of curses" Kelly said which made me think of the words I heard. It seemed that she either knew or those words really existed. Charlie glared at Tyler which made me realize I have to step in at this point.
"You can kiss your license goodbye" He said as I placed a hand on his shoulder.
"Charlie. I know how you feel right now but we need to calm down. Anyone could have lost control on that ice even you or me. So let's just forgive and Tyler won't make that same mistake right?" I told him since while it was great he was concerned but we need cooler heads to prevail. Looking at Tyler who nodded which made me nod grateful. Hearing the door opens and seeing a man in his thirty blonde movie star handsome and pale. We traded glances knowing what the other is thinking. He must be Dr. Cullen.
"Good. Dr. Cullen" Charlie said. I could see some gears turning in Kelly and Bri heads before they look at me as I nodded at them.
"I've got this one, Jackie" Dr. Cullen said as Jackie handed him Bella chart before leaving. He reviews her chart then feels the back of her head.
"You have a nice knot growing back there, but your x-rays show no indication of concussion" Dr. Cullen said. Bri shakes her head at Tyler who was about to apologize again as he stopped.
"It would have been a lot worse if Edward hadn't knocked me out of the way and thankfully Bri checked me over before they took me here" Bella said as Charlie looked at Dr. Cullen.
"Edward? Your boy?" Charlie asked Dr. Cullen who looks back at the chart. Bella looked at us as we knew that he was trying to avoid the question. Shaking my head at Bella telling her not to push the questions.
"I'm just glad he didn't get hurt" Bella said as Dr. Cullen looks at her smiling.
"As long as you're safe" He said before I left to head to go for a small walk to clear my mind. Walking down the hallways stretching a bit tired before I bumped into someone. Opening my eyes to make sure whoever it is didn't get hurt and I saw that it was Alice.
"You okay?" I asked her a bit worried before she gave me a small smile that made sigh in relief.
"Yeah. I'm fine. What are you doing here?" She asked knowing that I should be with Bella considering what just happened.
"Just gonna take a walk to clear my mind. Your dad is checking on Bella" I answered her which made her smile in glee as if she were planning something.
"Can I join you?" She asked me as I nodded before we started walking down the hallway as a awkward silence fell upon us. I didn't exactly know how to talk to a girl. Let alone someone as cute as her.
"So, what was in that notebook of yours?" Alice asked me which made me stiffen a bit since there was a drawing in it that I did not want her to know about.
"Just some songs" I said to her noticing how she had a small smirk before my eyes widen praying that somehow, I was wrong.
"That's not what I saw" She said which only confirmed what I saw before I push her playfully.
"You said you didn't look" I said shaking my head while she just giggled which made my heart flutter a bit. I stopped at that point since I did not want to fall in love because I was scared.
"I couldn't help myself still it was a nice drawing" She said which just made me snort as we exited the hospital as we walked around the building. It was nice, there was a calm peace and a nice cold wind that fitted the weather.
"Have you ever fallen in love?" She asked me out of the blue which was surprising. Didn't expect her to ask this.
"I have but I'm scared to fall in love again" I told her which surprised me. Why do I feel like I can just be vulnerable around her instead of hiding behind my mask. It confused me to no end.
"Why?" Alice asked me which made me stop to look at her wondering why it matters to her. Don't tell me she knows that I'm. Hopefully not.
"I don't want to get hurt again" I answered which made her look at me. She placed a hand over my heart which calmed me down.
"Maybe you fell in love with the wrong person" she said which made me think. It was true I fell in love but how can I be sure the leap I'm taking is true.
"How can I be sure it's the right person? I'm not gonna take a leap again. Not again" I told her which made her grab my hand and place it over hers.
"Listen to your heart but be smart enough to guard it besides when we love. We take a leap and a chance to fall in love" She said smiling which made my breath stop just wondering how she can be so positive but I can't help falling for it.
"I guess. I'm just scared that when I do. She'll just walk away and hurt me" I told her looking into her amber eyes finding myself just wanting to stare at it forever never realizing how close we are.
"Not when you find that right person. The one that'll make you feel special and will never hurt you" The pixie-like girl responded as I realized just how close our faces were and seeing every detail of her face. From her eyes to her lips. I want to keep denying it but I know eventually I have to accept it.
"Maybe one day and I hope that some way, somehow it's" I told her before I find myself leaning closer to her as she did the same. I just let myself get lost but somehow, I don't want it to happen. It's too soon and I'm afraid to damage whatever me and Alice have.
"Hey Clint! There you are!" Bri shouted running towards us as we quickly separated while I felt both relieved and disappointed that it didn't happen. Looking at Alice, I saw that she was a bit sad but quickly hide it under a smile. Bri noticed as she looked between us two before smirking.
"Hope I didn't ruin anything. Did I?" She asked which made me shake my head quickly while wondering why she was here. Is Bella clear to go home?
"No. Don't worry Carlisle is probably looking for me" Alice said before turning to me and having a gleeful smile on her face.
"Mind if I borrow your phone?" She asked me before I handed her said phone wondering what she was gonna do. She handed me hers which I just type in my number. I saw her typing in something before handing it back to me and leaving.
"What was that about?" Bri asked after making sure Alice was gone. I shrugged and looked at my phone before seeing what it was as my eyes widen in surprise. It was Alice phone number and at the same time I couldn't help but snort at how she typed her name in. So that what she was doing, I thought she was just typing something.
"She gave me her phone number" I told Bri who's eyes widen before she hugged me and jumped up and down extremely excited at the fact.
"That's amazing. Kelly did you get it?" She asked over at the corner which made my eyes widen. Looking over where she was looking at, I saw Kelly holding her phone and smirking heavily as she had her phone out.
"Got it all on video. We can watch it later once you cleared up the audio part" Kelly said which made me pale knowing that somehow they aren't gonna let me live this down. We headed in to the building as we bumped into Rosalie. Seriously? What is it with us bumping into people we know today?
"Hey Rose" Kelly said casually. Rose smiled at her before looking at us with cold eyes which send shivers down my spine. Looking at Bri as I nodded my head for us to leave which made her smirk.
"Right. We'll give you two some privacy" I said to the two pushing Bri to a hallway. Bella saw us as she looked at us with a raised eyebrow before I mouthed Kelly and Rosalie which just made her smirk as we peeked at them from the corner. I saw Bella had her phone at and was recording them. This was gonna be fun.
(Kelly POV)
Watching the others go made me a bit suspicious. Sure, I get to spend some time with Rosalie but knowing them. They're planning something. Looking at Rosalie which I gave her a curious look wondering why she wanted the others to leave.
"So…Ice Queen. What was that about?" I asked her curious wondering what the blonde Cullen wanted. She raised a eyebrow hearing the new nickname which made me smirk a bit.
"So why are you out here instead with Swan?" Rosalie asked which surprised me. Sure, me and Bella don't get along and I don't like her that much but it doesn't mean I downright hate her.
"She's getting signed out and we're about to head home" I told her and I could have sworn seeing something cross in Rosalie eyes before it disappeared. Was that disappointment or sadness but it couldn't be right?
"I thought you didn't like her?" Rosalie asked raising an eyebrow which made me scoffed.
"That is true but it doesn't mean I downright hate her. I tolerate her because she's part of the family we have" I told her which made a bit surprised.
"So that drawing you were doing in Spanish class. Who was it about?" She asked which made me freeze a bit not knowing how to tell her since the drawing was supposed to be Clockwork and Rosalie together but it wasn't done yet.
"Just someone I saw back in Arizona" I lied to her shrugging but the way her eyes were telling me she didn't believe me. They could hear heartbeats which made me calm down my heart a bit to avoid being known I was lying.
"Do you know her name at least?" She asked as if when I answer this. She might connect something which made me a bit nervous before I pushed it down. I was not gonna blow our cover especially when there's monsters that can hurt them.
"No" I said to her smoothly before I let out a breath of relief when she dropped the issue. I made a mental note to not have me or Clinton go out tonight for patrol since it might be too risky right now.
"So excited for the oh so exciting field to a greenhouse?" She asked sarcastically which made me snort at how she said it.
"Nope. Bri might be but I'm not looking forward to it" I told her which was true. Bri was always excited looking for medicinal herbs and plants to help her create different pills and the like to help us on our mission even though some don't work.
"I see. Do you mind if we sit next to each other in the bus then?" She asked bluntly which took me back. I get that they were supposed to hang out mostly with each other but after the whole Eddie boy incident. I thought they wouldn't want to interact with others since it was a bit risky.
"Um…Sure. I don't mind" I said to her grinning while a plan was forming. If I can get Bri and Bella to sit to each other and leave Clint to sit with Alice. We can break him out of that damn selfless habit of his and get him to be selfish when it comes to Alice.
"You're planning something aren't you?" The Ice Queen Cullen said which made me look at her smirking as she rolled her eyes knowing what the answer is.
"Wait…How will I know you're there already?" I asked her as she held her hand out which was a signal to give her my phone which I did. She typed in something as she handed her phone to me which I did the same knowing where this was going. We traded phones back which made me look at her.
"I'll call you when I'm there and whatever plan you have. It better not be something stupid like setting Alice and that damn dense guy you call a friend" Rosalie said which made me whistle innocently as she groaned as she left.
Hearing three people I knew oh so well giggling. I headed over to them and see them watching something on Clint phone which was apparently the whole conversation me and Rosalie had a few minutes ago. This was payback for the recording of him and Alice.
"So…What was that about?" He asked grinning like a Cheshire Cat before I hit the back of his head as he rubbed the back of his head pouting. Rolling my eyes, I looked at Bella asking the silent question as she shakes her head which meant Charlie didn't come back yet.
(Bella POV)
We were waiting for my Dad to sign me out and I pulled out my phone to dial my mom when I saw something. Down the hall was Rosalie, Edward and Dr. Cullen which made me tap the others. They looked at me before they saw why. Clint shakes his head saying to be quiet without making any noise while we listened.
"This isn't just about you, it's about all of us" Rosalie said before Dr. Cullen noticed us and stops Rosalie as she looks over to us.
"Let's take this in my office" Dr. Cullen said as he and Rosalie left but not before she glared at Edward who adopts a nonchalant air. Clint pushed me which made me go over to him.
"Mind if we talk for a moment?" I asked him crossing my arms since this was a perfect moment to confirm a few things as he nodded.
"How did you get to me so quickly?" I asked which was a bit stupid as I knew the answer already.
"I was standing right next to you" He said which annoyed me at this point. How long is he gonna keep denying this. Heck, Clint and Bri were already doing something to help them blend in if by the sound of the explosions from the tech lab was any indication or them coming out their clothes singed.
"No you weren't. I would have known if you were and you were across the lot next to your family and your car" I said to him not allowing myself to be backed down especially by someone like him. He steps closer as his expressions turns icy hard while I matched it with my own glare.
"No I wasn't" Edward said as I clenched my fists just wanting to punch him even if it meant me getting a broken hand. I have to calm myself since hanging around Kelly made me a little more anger prone than I liked.
"Yes. You were and don't even think about using the whole you hit your head thing" I said to him knowing what he was gonna say next.
"You're confused. You were about to get flatten between your car and that van" He said which I do have to give him credit for since he found a way out of that one. It doesn't mean he's gonna get out of this easily.
"You can't worm your way out of this one Edward. I know exactly what I saw" I told him not wanting to drop this.
"And what, exactly, was that?" He asked which irritated me. He knows what I was talking about but he just doesn't want to admit it.
"You rushed over to me, stopped the van leaving a dent where your hand was" I told him as he just looked at me without a care.
"No one will believe that" He said as I shake my head at that part. I wasn't gonna tell anyone especially since I have secrets of my own.
"And you do realize I won't tell anyone. I have my own secrets that I don't want anyone to know about" I told him as he was inches from me while he looks at me curiously.
"Can't you just thank me and just drop it? You can understand right since you want to keep your secret?" He asked me. I have to give it to him, he knows how to make someone drop something.
"Thank you but you do realize this is not gonna be the last time we talk about this?" I asked him as we looked at each and there was some feelings angry, defensive and. Wait, is that attraction and am I feeling the same way. I clear my head of that thought, not gonna fall for him. It'll be the biggest cliché ever.
"You're really not gonna let this go, are you?" The Cullen asked me which made me smirk at him as if telling him he knows the answer already. He turns and walks away.
"Then I hope you enjoy disappointment then" He finished as one thing was going through my mind. It was something I need to know.
"Why did you even bother to save me or get to know me then?" I asked him while trying to fight down the feeling that it hurt a bit. He stops but didn't look at me.
"I don't know" He said as he keeps walking leaving me confused and just frustrated at him since he basically said he didn't even mean to do it. I heard footsteps as I turn around and saw the three running over to me.
"What was that about?" Bri asked me as she looks at me as I gave her a look which answered it already as we left and headed back home.
(Bri POV)
We were in the base and watching the scene between Clint and Alice with a bowl of popcorn between us while said teen was covering his face. Kelly was munching on a handful of popcorn while snickering and Bella was looking at this before looking at Clint.
"This is like a scene out of a sappy romance movie or a novel about someone not accepting himself and meeting someone who makes him accept it" She said which only made him blush harder. I have to agree though. It was like Alice knew who he was and was trying to let him know it was ok for him to love.
"It really is" Kelly said snickering as my eyes widen seeing they were about to kiss while I know one thing. I might have stopped him from doing something that he shouldn't have. Well at least not yet.
"You two were about to kiss?" I asked him which made him blush harder after he realized it.
"I didn't even realize it" Clint said before an alarm sounded as the monitor switched to a map and pinpointed where the monster is.
"What are we looking at?" He asked switching to his commander personality. I went to the hologram table and typed a few things in as it identified the monster. Cetus was at the beach which was surprising.
"It's Cetus. I'm gonna deal with this one" I told them heading to the locker room before someone placed there hand on my shoulder as I looked at them.
"Are you sure? You know that the Shapeshifters are there" Kelly asked me as I nodded knowing that I wasn't gonna avoid a confrontation like this.
"I'm sure" I told her. Heading to the locker room where my gear was kept. My mind begin to wander wondering what I knew of Cetus. It can't come out of the water meaning I have to resort to long range fighting and quick short close strikes. I changed into my gear and headed to the garage. Grabbing the keys to my mission car which was a Porsche 911 GT2, getting in I started the engine and revved up the engine.
"Good luck Jane" Clint said opening the ramp while I stepped off the brakes as the car raced down quickly and up the ramp getting some air time. I turned the car to the beach hoping that no one got hurt while somehow my past was able to caught up to me at this point.
Arriving at the beach, I saw no one was there which meant that no wolves spotted Cetus yet. Getting out, I tapped my mask and looked around scanning the beach. Walking down the coast before it picked up something. Taking out my sniper, I raced down the sandy land. I saw a Grey wolf trying to fight Cetus which made me curse under my breath.
"You got to be kidding me. Of all the wolves I had to encounter the one that saw me" I whispered while my mask started computing everything while I aim down my sniper. After it locked on, I fired the first shot followed by another while Cetus roared in pain. The wolf looked at me before I gestured to the water serpent as she charged well at least I think it's a she.
She bit in deeper at it's neck which made me grab my knives and run down. Quickly stabbing in it's neck while pulling out Hydra and aimed it under it's chin. Looking at the wolf, I looked at her while hoping she understands what I was gonna do. She understands as she got off while I pulled the barrel back and smirked.
"Don't go to sleep. You'll never wake up" I said before pulling the trigger killing Cetus as it turned to dust which made me fall into the water. I quickly swim to shore while someone pulled me out. Looking up, it was the wolf who looked at me curiously.
"You have questions huh?" I asked coughing while I stood up while grimacing. The outfit was soaked which was something me and Clint need to improve on. Frowning, I looked at the wolf. Sure she may have helped since Cetus was a bit weaker but from what I can see she got injured.
"Come on" I said to her gesturing her to follow me which she was a bit hesitant before complying.
Heading over to the car, I opened the trunk and pulled out some spare clothes that consisted of a black shirt, a grey jacket and jeans that I used when we were undercover and my medkit. I handed the clothes to her knowing that she didn't have any clothes once she transforms back and I do not want to see a naked woman. The wolf gently grabbed them with her teeth and went to a bush.
Waiting patiently, I opened the medkit while pulling out a few basic things. Bandages, Pain Killers before facepalming. They have regenerative healing, but it can backfire if the bones are not set right or the like. Looking over after hearing the bush rustle. I was right about her being female, but I didn't expect to see someone. Well, Beautiful. She has copper skin, feather duster like eyelashes, sleek black hair in a pixie cut. Fighting down a blush, I walked up to her before tapping my mask to scan for any kind of injury.
"What are you doing?" She asked on edge as I rolled my eyes. The scan finished showing that she was fine and didn't suffer any misalignment. Good, so I just leaned on my car with my arms crossed while she glared at me.
"Just a body scan. Needed to make sure there weren't any misalignment" I told her since there was no point in lying right now. Waiting for her to start asking me questions was quite boring.
"You were the girl I saw at the beach before, weren't you?" She asked angrily which kinda surprise me. There were definitely some anger issues there before my mind went down places. Shaking my head clear of thoughts, I made a note to stop being influence by Kelly.
"Yup and before you ask why. I was there scouting, getting a clear view of the land just in case something like that happened." I told her as she looked at the water trying to figure out what that was.
"What was that?" She asked that caused me to frown. We are really have a bad streak as of late. First the Cullens and now this chick. I really gotta ask her name.
"Cetus. A Monster from Greek Myths and yes they exist" I told her not wanting to go into more detail as it is. We got a big mission coming up soon and I rather get some rest and finish up making sure our gear works.
"So all those monsters from Greek Mythology. What about the Gods, Demigods and the like?" She asked which made me stop before frowning. If I think right, whoever sent us here only had the intention of sending us three which meant in this universe the Gods and Demigods never existed.
"No. They don't. Who are you?" I asked her finally getting fed up not knowing who she was. There was a connection but I am not looking for a relationship even then I doubt it will be with someone who's as easy to anger as her.
"Leah Clearwater. What about you? What's your name?" She asked looking at me glaring. Now she asked me for my name.
"Jane The Killer and before you ask. Yes I killed Werewolves before" I told her wanting to get that part out of the way.
"What do you mean killed Werewolves?" She asked on edge while I let out a chuckle. I want to mess around with her but better for the truth to be told. They aren't like the rest of the wolves I have to kill to save innocent. No, they want to live a normal life and I'm gonna give it to them.
"Relax, the Wolves I killed are the ones who are eating humans. They're aligned with Lycaon" I told her seeing some kind of disgust in her eyes. She encountered him which made my blood boil. I was hunting that bastard in Arizona before he fled.
"Don't mention that name. That bastard wanted us to join him and hunt down humans. He even tried to trick us into eating a dead woman making her look like a normal meal" Leah said which made me clenched my fists.
"But you didn't. You knew what he was doing" I finished for which only fueled my hatred for him ever since he killed. I closed my eyes and took deep breaths trying not to let the memory get to me.
"We did. He quickly left after but we couldn't chase him since he disappeared" She said while I wanted to curse at that point. The one lead I have on him gone, which meant that I couldn't avenge her. Leah looked at me knowing that I was thinking something.
"Hey you ok?" She asked worried which surprised me. She was worried and that was new.
"Yeah. Why do you seem concerned?" I asked her crossing my arms wanting answers as to why her attitude change. She seemed hesitant to tell me.
"I imprinted on you" She said which confused me. Imprint on me. What the heck is that suppose to mean.
"Imprint?" I asked her tilting my head confused. It was familiar but I can't remember why.
"Basically for me, it's when the whole world stops and you become my main focus" She said while my eyebrow twitched. From what she said, it's like finding a soulmate or someone you destined with which meant. Oh god.
"You mean to tell me that…Since you imprinted on me" I said trying to find the right words to say while I could just hear Kelly laughing on this.
"Pretty much" She said while I could see in her eyes saying that I was hers. I wasn't against it but I barely knew her as it is both as Jane and myself. My mask finally brought it up and I frowned seeing what it meant.
"Well…That's just great. You somehow gain a physical pain each step I take, I'm now your priority and you become what I need" I said while reading on what I was able to gather from the archives. If this was true, I might need to talk to Clint soon about this.
"You don't sound that happy" Leah asked while I frowned. It wasn't ideal but I wasn't gonna reject her especially if she feels pain beside from what it says. She might be my perfect match which is a bit hard to find.
"Not the way I thought I'll find my other half but eh. I just have one challenge for you though" I said to her knowing that she has to pass the Hunter initiation. It's a test we created to see if they can connect the clue since this job isn't easy.
"Which is?" She asked a bit irritated as I sighed. God help me if Clint and Kelly are recording this.
"Easy. Find out who I am under this mask. I'm just not sure if you want to date someone who killed Werewolves before and a troubled past" I told her trying to see if she'll back off. I was impressed when she didn't.
"That doesn't sound too hard and I'm sure" She said without hesitation which took me back. Well she may be the first girl to catch my interest.
"Good luck. Oh and I'm not much to the eye but get to know me. You'll unfold my secret" I told her getting into my car which I knew was gonna be hard on Leah if I leave.
"You gonna be okay?" I asked her a bit worried now. Great, one minute I was hating her but now I turn into a marshmallow. Sometimes I wonder if this is the imprinting working but I knew if this is what I think it is. I'm gonna get to know her first then see where this takes us.
"Yeah. Just make sure to come back soon" Leah said smiling slightly which I admit fitted her better than her than her being grumpy and angry.
"I'll try. No promises. Don't stay too angry and try to take care of the clothes" I told her since the clothes she was wearing held a lot of memories.
"I won't don't worry" Leah said rolling her eyes as I just smirked at her at that point.
Turning on the car, I revved it up before pulling back after Leah step back and driving back to base. The further I'm apart from Leah the further I feel incomplete. Great just grat.. Clint and Kelly are attracted to Vampires and possibly Bella while I found my maybe other half in Leah. This was gonna be interesting.
(Leah POV)
So that was her huh. The fact she told me I need to find out who she is means Jane is just a codename. Still the physical pain each time she got further was a bit much, but it was gonna be worth it. I always want to imprint on someone but I didn't expect for it to be someone who hunts down monsters and killed some Werewolves under that bastard Lycaon. She must have some sort of grudge against him which meant he did something to her. The next time I see him, he's dead meat. Still, I better impress her since she doesn't seem the type to get into relationships easily. I'll find out who you are Jane and when I do. It'll be nice to have someone I can be with.
