Hi guys, welcome to chapter 3! The fic is doing ok so far, but I live in hope. Anyway please enjoy this installment!
By the end of September Riley and Farkle had finally found enough time to get away from work and continue the wedding planning. More specifically, they had found time to plan the food that would be served.
The pair had now arrived at the Crystal Palace where Marius sat at one of the tables surrounded by prime rib, chicken, salmon, other foods and lost of roasted vegetables. In the middle of the table was a large pitcher of water, most likely to be used as a palette cleanser.
'' It all smells delicious '' Riley sighed as she inhale the scent.
'' I'm glad you like it Ms. Matthews the chef who prepared it previously worked at a Michelin star restaurant in New York'' Marius said. '' Now, are you ready for a feast of miniature proportions?''
'' Let's do it'' Farkle said rubbing his hands together.
''But before we do, please Marius call us Farkle and Riley, those titles are too formal'' Riley insisted.
'' Ok, I will. My apologies for the formalness, some of my clientele doesn't enjoy me using their first names'' Marius explained.
'' Well rest assured, we don't mind'' Farkle said.
'' Well now that that's settled, I'll let you dig in, I have some admin to do in the office'' Marius said slightly sadly..
Roughly two hours later the pair were thoroughly stuffed to the point that movement caused pain. Marius walked in, surprised as to how much of the food had been eaten.
'' So, what did you think?'' Marius asked.
'' I think I'm stealing your chef'' Farkle joked.
'' I'm loving this salmon'' Riley said, '' We'd definitely love to have this at the reception.''
'' Alright, Farkle what do you think?'' Marius asked.
'' I too love the salmon but I was completely blown away by your prime rib and roasted vegetable,s the butternut especially.''
'' Well aren't you two the perfect flatterers'' Marius smiled, '' So is that what you're thinking, salmon , prime rib and roasted vegetables?''
'' Actually we were completely blown away by your sirloin roast'' Riley said.
'' But since some of our guests are vegetarians we can't just have that, could we please also have the salmon and roasted vegetables?'' Farkle asked.
'' Of course , that will be fine'' Marius said, his jovial smile spread over his face.
In the end the pair had also had to choose how their alcohol would be served, the had decided on a cash bar for any guests who had to be '' monitored '' as Riley put it.
'' Monitored, who needs to be monitored?'' Farkle asked.
'' Zay and Maya, I love them but let's face it the could bankrupt a bar within two hours'' Riley responded.
'' True but I'm sure Isadora and Lucas won't let them get too drunk'' Farkle smirked.
'' Don't go underestimating Lucas, he isn't shy around his booze either'' Riley pointed out.
'' Again, true, but what do we do for cocktail hour?''
'' I'm not sure, but Marius said they offer a '' classic option'' should we ask him about it?'' Riley asked.
'' Sure, I'll phone him'' Farkle hooked his phone up to the Bluetooth in his Spyder.
'' Farkle, that was fast, did you change your mind?'' Marius asked as he picked up his cell phone.
'' No Marius, we wanted to know what the Classic option for cocktail hour is'' Farkle explained.
'' Ah that includes shrimp, fruit, cheese, cocktail weenies , pastry cups filled with artichoke dip among other finger foods that we can prepare. Alcohol wise we have a my brother in law who is a mixologist who creates the best alcoholic cocktails I've ever had. Typically they consist of Screwdrivers, gin and vodka martinis, Kalimotxoes among others.''
'' Wow that sounds fantastic, we'll take that, but can we add cocktails that don't come with the standard option?'' Riley asked from the driver's seat.
'' Definitely, we welcome variety'' Marius said.
'' Great, I'll text you what we'd like once we get home'' Farkle said as he hung up.
The couple were now making their way to the Cake Den, a bakery which was owned by a personal friend of the couple; Aubrey.
Aubrey had left her parents after seeing how easily they would sell her out. She had originally planned to go to law school to become a killer shark like Topanga but found out that she quite enjoyed baking. With the help of Stuart Minkus's latest charity: Minkus' business foundation in the form of startup capita.l she had opened the Cake Den, which was doing extremely well business wise.
Parking outside the pair walked inside to see Aubrey's favorite employee Kira , who was currently tending to a confused old man.
'' Sir, for the last time, this isn't a Starbucks, this the Cake Den.''
'' Bah, I fought in Vietnam just to be denied coffee, forget it'' and with that the old man left.
Riley and Farkle just looked at him and then at Kira.
'' he seems fun'' Riley said.
'' It happens every other day'' Kira sighed. '' Anyway Aubrey's just in her office I'll go get her for you.''
'' She's nice'' Farkle said.
'' Yeah, she is'' Riley added.
Aubrey came out to see the pair. '' Hi guys, how's it going?''
'' Pretty well, we just came back from the Crystal Palace'' Farkle said.
'' Cool, I've set up a bunch of taste testers in the back for ya, I'll be back in about an hour'' Aubrey said as she led them to the back area which was filled with pieces of cake. They ranged from standard chocolate to the strange green velvet.
'' This, is a lot of cake'' Riley marveled.
'' Yeah, I don't think we'll need to eat for like a month once we finish this'' Farkle added.
-x-
As she said she would, Aubrey came back an hour later to see her two friends thoroughly stuffed.
'' I take it you enjoyed that?'' she said smirking.
'' Mhm'' Farkle said.
'' Well what're we thinking?'' Aubrey asked.
'' I think you make the best chocolate cake I've ever had'' Riley marveled.
'' I don't even like the taste of strawberries but I'd kill for more of your strawberry cake'' Farkle said.
'' Aww, so is that what you're thinking, a chocolate and strawberry cake?''
'' Actually we were completely blown away by your black forest cake'' Farkle said.
'' Oh yeah, I've had it before but it was never as good as this'' Riley added.
As the pair went back outside to their car they spoke to Aubrey.
'' So how much are we looking at?'' Farkle asked.
'' Honestly rich boy it depends on how many tiers you want'' Aubrey explained.
'' Well we've got a pretty huge guest list so I'd say 6'' Riley said.
'' Wait wait, six?!'''Farkle said shocked.
'' Yeah, what I'm not good enough for it'' Riley teased.
Aubrey just stood back waiting for his response.
'' We'll take it'' Farkle said.
'' Perfect, but I can't charge you for it.''
'' What? Why?'' Riley asked.
'' Without Farkle's dad I wouldn't have been able to start this business, consider it my way of saying thanks. Also you'll be getting so many blenders , this seems like it'll be more fun.''
On the way back the pair discussed their day.
'' Wow, so I don't think we need dinner'' Riley said.
'' Nope, we probably don't have to eat for at least another two days.''
'' The wedding planning's going pretty well, and we haven't even had to pay for part of it'' Farkle joked.
'' You and free stuff'' Riley smiled.
'' You know what they say, the best things in life are free'' Farkle shrugged as he made the brunette laugh.
So everyone what do you think so far?
