The wind was blowing outside and the sun was covered by the clouds. Kira was on her way from school. Her brown hair was everywhere on her face, even if she tried to hold it back. Her hair blown away to all of world, when the hair on Kira's face really stopped being fun. So after a while, she let her hair go, letting it fly however it wants. She put her hands in her sweatshirt's pockets and quickened her pace. A bag of books and other things to school was pounding on her side as she had her crossed over her, but Kira was no longer allowed to be upsetting about stupid thing, so she ignored it, throught the fact that it made her a little difficult to walk. She wanted to be at library as quickly as possible, because in this bad weather the walk was not very pleasant. Other times she would take a slow pace and enjoy the air and beauty of the surroundings, but today she tried to get the warm of library as quickly as possible. She cursed herself in her mind that she walked in the morning and go on a bicycle. She could have gone home and picked up a bicycle, but she was already leaving Pickens Park, so it didn't pay off, because now, she could see the old building she wanted to get to at the end of the street.
She reached her destination soon, and when she was inside, she unzipped her sweatshirt. She immediately turned to the toilets, which were not in good condition and no one was using them, but she just wanted to look in the mirror and that was there. Kira smiled at herself and ran her fingers through her hair. She brushed as much as she could and finally tucked her front strands behuind ears on both sides. Then she rubbed her palms against yourself, trying to warm herself a little, but it didn't help much. However, she hoped that she would be warmed by the average heated spaces of the library. The temperature couldn't be high even in winter, not to damage the books.
Kira Morris's wish came true as she went up the stairs to the first floor, where there was a youth department. She entered the door into a huge room and went straight to the counter, where was sitting one of her favorite people. "Aren't you cold, my child?" the librarian, who knew Kira very well, smiled at her carefully, as she had been going to the library almost every day for about three years. "Just a little Mrs. Peters," Kira said kindly, leaning against the counter behind which was setting the elder woman. "It's here," the librarian smiled enthusiastically, and inconspicuously pushed the new book around the counter. "I should unload it on shelf, and one boy has already asked about it, but I believed you'd come sooner than he did." "Thank you, I really appreciate it." Kira gave another smile to the librarian Peters before taking the book in her hands and pressing it to her chest. She turned with a smile on her face and left without a word. Kira walked around the shelves full of books for a moment, but then headed for her usual place. Right corner of the library, far back. It wasn't easy to see because the shelves were stored in special places, but Kira didn't mind. Kira Morris' habit was to put the bag on one of the chairs, place the books on the table, and immediately sit on it. Then choose one of the books and immerse yourself in her world. Kira knew she shouldn't be sitting at the table, and the librarian knew about her bad habit, but she liked her so much that she felt sorry to tell. It actually didn't mind how Kira sat as lon as she wasn't destroying books. Apart from her, a few children used to go there, but none of them ever
got lost in her corner. So the library was always almost empty.
She also followed her habit, but today she somehow did not pay attention to the content of the book. She was touching the new cover of book with her hands and sniffed all of the pages. Book's scent fascinated her. It wasn't the smell of the book's story - how many hands it had passed through, where it had fallen, and how it had been damaged, but Kira liked the smell. The book 21st day, which the librarian had give her in less than ten minutes ago, smelled new. She could still feel what was going on in the book, at least that was Kira's opinion. She also thought that after a few borrowings and readings, the book was beginning to create its own story. It was no longer just the one of millions printed, but it has its own unique story. Although Kira had almost all the books she had ever read in the library, at home she was not interested in them. She left them lying on the shelves and occasionally pulled out one of them. But it must also have been a holiday, or something similar, on which occasion the library was closed. As much as she may have regretted that those books weren't going to experience their story, or if they won't have any, she didn't read them. But Kira Morris was not even used to borrowing books and taking them home. She deliberately hid them back on the shelf, where it was very unlikely for anyone to find and take them. She did it just to make her excuse not to be home. Although she liked her home, she preferred to spend time in the library. Especially when her parents were out of town. Being at home with my grandmother and older brother was no win for Kira.
She pulled a packet of sweet bubblegum from her trouser pocket, which she always had there, and put one in her mouth. She chewed on her and meanwhile leaned into the bag for headphones. After a moment of searching, she found them and plugged them into her phone. She played her so-called "bubblegum playlist" and finally started reading the book.
"Please, do you know where to find the book on 21st day?" asked Nathaniel, a librarian sitting behind the counter. "I'm sorry, but one girl managed to take it before you," she replied with regret. Nate threw a awkward smile on his face. "Thank you," he said, choosing to walking between the shelves as he searched for a book to kill free time today.
When he was almost in the back in the right corner, he wondered if there was the bubblegum girl in the corner on the table today. His type was, of course, correct. She sat there in all her beauty, in a Turkish sitting position as usual with headphones in her ears, chewing bubblegum and reading. Nathaniel constantly noticed the ever-present pale pink shadow on her eyes. Every morning when Kira entered the classroom, she had chewing gum in mouth and had headphones in her ears. She also had chewing gum in the library, where he saw her quite often, even if only from a distance. This is exactly how the nickname, the Bubblegum Girl, Nathaniel called her himself was created.
He looked better, and the cover of the book Kira was holding shone on the 21st day. He came closer and leaned against one of the shelves. He crossed his arms over his chest, still watching Kira. "What's the book like?" he called. The girl did not respond. "Hey, Kira." Nathaniel decided to move closer and the Bubblegum Girl suddenly moved. "God Mantle, what do you want here? You scared me..." she took one earphone from her ear and put a piece of headphone cable in the book so she wouldn't forget where in the story she ended. "Hi, I just wanted to ask what the book is like," Nate tried to smile, but he really had no idea what he was doing. Why couldn't he just walk around the shelf, take other book and go read it in his usual place. No, he had to go to his classmate, interrupt her while reading, and get them both into an embarrassing situation. "Pretty good," she smiled at Nathaniel. "Did you ask for it?" Kira chuckled. "Um, yes. How do you know?" her classmate replied confused, standing in front of her like a statue, looking like he would rather evaporate from the spot. "Brigitte and I are kind of friends," Kira smiled. "With that old lady?" Nate gave her a surprised and disgusted look at the same time. "Yes. She just happens to be a nice person." Kira Morris stood by her opinion.
"Anyway, how's the story going?" Nathaniel finally got to the point why he actually disturbed his classmate while reading. "I haven't figured much yet, but it looks promising," Kira shrugged, looking at the book as she answered, drawing the shape of the glossy letter N with her index finger. "Did you read the first part?" she asked him. "Y-y-yes, I read it the days before, and yesterday I found out that there should finally be one copy of sequel today." at first young Nate stuttered, but then had no problem speaking.
