Attack of the Toybots!
Chapter 3: Investigation
Zootopia, Savannah Central, just outside the Troublemaker Toy Co outlet
"C'mon, Nick, we're here." Judy said to her partner, as they parked the police car just outside the entrance of where the new toy company was stationed.
"You sure this is the place, Carrots?" Nick asked as he looked to the big metal gates, showing the logo of Troublemaker Toys Co.
"If it wasn't, then we would be at another company that has the same logo as Troublemaker Toys." Judy pointed out, with a little bit of sarcasm.
The new toy factory appeared in an instant last week in Zootopia, and delivery trucks came pouring out when they gave out the toys from the factory to all the various toy shops around the city.
Of course, over time, the ZPD had been getting statements from grown ups, kids and even families about the toys, especially the questionable info about each toy, and that some of them began acting off, and that Troublemaker Toys have seemed to be ignoring their complaints.
So (a little reluctantly) Bogo decided to send Judy and Nick to investigate the situation themselves and see what the fuss was about.
The duo soon got out of their car, and headed up to the front gate as they took a good look, there were signs that said, 'Workers Allowed' or even 'No Entry'.
There was a post with a button on it, which said 'Press for service' on it.
The two animals approached what could be the doorbell, and with a helpful boost up from Nick, Judy pressed the button.
It wasn't long until someone responded via the voice com above the button.
"Hello, welcome to Troublemaker Toys!" the voice said, "How much trouble can we muster for you today?"
"Hi, Officers Hopps and Wilde. ZPD." Judy introduced herself and Nick, "We are here to ask some questions about toys that you're making?"
"Glad you asked," the voice responded, "here at Troublemaker Toys, we have the top ranch of best seller toys anyone could ask for."
Judy and Nick looked to each other, until Judy said, "Actually, we were wanting to ask about the questionable quality and features that the toys have."
"Our toys at Troublemaker Toys are so 100% troublesome for fun, fun, fun!" the voice replied, the duo starting to think that it was ignoring what they were actually saying.
"There have been about several complaints about your toys," Nick stated, "such as the description of each of your toys, and even several injuries from these 'Child-friendly' toys that children have been playing."
"The toys we make and deliver are 100% child-friendly and perfect for every girl and boy, no matter the age!" the voice proudly claimed.
The rabbit and fox looked at each other.
This guy they were talking to was definitely ignoring what they were saying and/or missing the point.
"Look, can we please come inside so we can ask some questions?" Judy asked.
"Sorry, ma'am." the voice from the intercom then said, "Visitors are not welcome at this time or date. Authorised personnel only."
"We just want to talk to someone about the toys." Judy said, beginning to thumb her foot in annoyance.
"Our toys are 100% child-friendly and 100% troublesome for fun, fun, fun!"
"We know that! Can we please come in?!" Judy fumed.
"Sorry, ma'am, visiting hours are over. Thanks for stopping by!" the voice said, as the intercom soon went silent.
"WE BARELY EVEN VISITED!" Judy cried out, letting an annoying growl at this.
"You do know that the more angry you get, the more cuter you are." Nick smirked.
"Not. Now. Nick." Judy said with gritted teeth.
Judy then paced a little as she thought a little, while all joking aside, Nick looked back to the front entrance as he said, "Still, I'm with you on this problem. And why do I get a feeling that there's something that they're not telling us?"
"It would be nice if they let us in." Judy said as she stopped and looked as well, "How do you think we're going to get in?"
"Well, we managed to get into Cliffside, didn't we?" Nick pointed out, "So that means that there's always a way in somehow, somewhere."
Just as he said that, nearby, there was a delivery truck heading to a vehicle gate nearby, as they watched the truck enter, that gave them both an idea.
5 minutes later, another big truck arrived at the vehicle gate, as it opened and let the truck in, the two small animals snuck in while no one was looking and hid among several boxes.
Once the close was clear, Judy and Nick wandered through the storage room, having a nice look around to see if there was anything out of the ordinary, though it didn't quite seem like it.
"Do you see anything, Carrots?" Nick asked.
"Nope," Judy replied, "nothing but a lot of boxes filled with toys as far as the eye can see."
Though as they continued investigating, they began to take notice of some of the toys.
While all the known toys the children got were all of toy versions of different animals that were seen everyday, some of these toys were a little different, as they didn't look animal-like and had no fur on them either, especially as their faces looked so weird.
"Have you seen any toys like these?" Judy asked Nick, as they looked at one of the odd looking figure toys.
"Can't say that I have." Nick replied, as he and Judy looked a little skeptic on the toys that Troublemaker Toys were working on.
As he said that, he leaned on a control pad, and unexpectedly pressed a button, causing a nearby door to open.
That got the duo's attention, as they headed up to the open door… and were stunned by what they saw.
In front of them, and the other side, was what looked like an entire large complex factory floor, yet it was way more larger than the outlet they were at.
"Whoa… what is this?" Nick asked.
"I'm not sure, myself," Judy said, before looking to her partner as she added, "but I think we might have found a lead."
Nick looked at her and smirked, "We're gonna go in there, aren't we?"
"Yes. Yes we are." Judy smiled back.
Judy and Nick soon went through the door, and ventured into the factory to explore and find more clues.
The duo had to stay clear of any security as they continued walking through the factory floor, but they were a little curious as they weren't any security, just a good amount of toys.
"Does this seem a little quiet to you, Carrots?" Nick asked, cautiously.
"Yeah," Judy nodded, "a bit too quiet…"
Suddenly, a noise got their attention, startling them, as they turned… only to see a coloured bouncy ball bouncing to them, until it stopped near them.
"It's just a ball…" Judy let out a sigh of relief.
But soon, the strangest thing happened.
Ball suddenly opened up, and it revealed the top half of a strange creature with a ukulele, the ball sides to form of what looked like a hula outfit, making the toy look like a hula dancer.
Nick and Judy looked to each other as the former said, "Well… that's new…"
Suddenly, the top part of the ukulele opened up… and open fired on the duo, taking them off guard.
Judy and Nick quickly made a run for it the second the toy unexpectedly attacked, dodging the bullets it shot at them.
"What the heck?!" Judy cried as she and Nick took cover.
"You got that right!" Nick spoke up from his hiding spot, "How are we gonna that down?!"
"No clue on that one!" Judy admitted.
Suddenly, as they heard most of the gun shots, they sudden;y heard another voice, a young adult's voice, as they heard a cry, "Head's up!" followed by a few loud clangs and something breaking.
As the two animals looked from their hiding spots, they saw Zigzag standing over the damaged toy that tried to kill them, while from a corner, were 4 toys, looking a little scared, as they saw what happened.
"Hey there," Zigzag said to the two cops, "are you two okay?"
"Yeah, we're okay… I guess…" Nick replied, as he and Judy came out of hiding.
Judy took a good look at Zigzag and asked, "Are you one of the workers here?"
"Who me?" Zigzag asked, pointing to himself, before letting out a small, nervous chuckle, "Oh, no… I just let myself in, actually…"
Zigzag soon took a look at the rabbit and fox, and then instantly recognized them, "Waitaminute, you're Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde!"
"Um, yes…" Judy replied, "How do you know us?"
"I think it's what he does…" Rabbit replied from the corner, getting the two cops attention.
Seeing the two looking at Pooh and his friends, Zigzag decided to introduce them to the cops of Zootopia, "Oh, right, it's okay, they're with me. Judy, Nick, I like you to meet Winnie the Pooh, Piglet, Tigger and Rabbit."
He gestured for the toys to come over and they did just that.
"Are these toys yours or are they part of Troublemaker Toys?" Nick asked.
"Not exactly," Pooh answered, "we were actually with our friend. Christopher Robin."
"Unfortunately, we got captured, but we soon got away and tried to hide from these dangerous toys." Rabbit added.
"I see…" Judy said, before getting into a bit of thought, and then looked to Nick and said, "Nick, I think we might have a lead on what's with Troublemaker Toys."
"Sure do, Carrots." Nick nodded in agreement.
"Are you two Private Ears?" Tigger asked, earning raised eyebrows from the two cops.
"'Private Ears'?" Judy asked, "Don't you mean 'Private Eyes'?"
"That's what I said!" Tigger replied.
"Well, actually, we're police officers." Judy explained, "I'm Officer Judy Hopps and this is Nick Wilde, my partner."
"Pleasure." Nick nodded his head in gretment.
"So you said that you're looking on a lead about this toy company?" Zigzag asked.
"That's right," Nick replied, "we were getting reports and questionable feedback from customers, having complaints about these new toys that were made."
"And hopefully, we could find some evidence that could take them down." Judy added.
"Well, if you like, we could help you if you can help us," Zigzag requested, "See, some of these guys' friends are somewhere in the factory as well, and they need a bit of help finding and rescuing them."
"P-please help us." Piglet asked politely.
Judy looked to the new people they discovered, and then looked to Nick.
"I suppose we could use a bit of help…" Nick suggested.
"Okay then," Judy nodded, before looking back to the group, "we'll do what we can to help you find your friends."
"Thanks a bundle, guys," Zigzag smiled, "now let's get a move on and-"
Suddenly, a small clang sound got the group's attention.
"What was that?" Tigger asked.
"I don't know, but that can't be good." Nick replied.
"I think we might have got someone's attention." Judy said, before looking to the others, "get behind us, it might get ugly."
"Don't have to tell us twice." said Rabbit.
Pooh and his friends stayed behind Zigzag and the two cops, as they got behind a corner.
As the looked, the saw a shadow of someone… or something heading their way.
Zigzag and Nick looked at Judy, who quietly pointed to what was coming, as a sign of saying 'Get ready to jump on 3'.
The two nodded as Judy then counted to 3 with her paws.
1…
2…
"3!" Judy cried, as she, Nick and Zigzag pounced onto the intruder, who let out quite a startle as he got attacked.
Just as the three gathered around him, Zigzag got an odd look at the figure.
The figure looked a bit square-headed, and had the same shaped helmet on him covering his face, leading Zigzag to remove his helmet, and got a shock at what he saw.
The figure was a square-shaped fellow, who had buck-teeth, six eyelashes (three on both eyes), and had square-shaped pants on.
Looking at the figure, one name came to Zigzag's mind as he saw who confronted.
"Spongebob?"
