The look of shock on Adele Stackhouse's face would have been rather amusing. Said person I had not seen in twenty-one years. I never disliked or liked the woman my son had an affair with. I just did not approve of the situation. She was a married woman, Fintan was head over heels in love with this human. I personally could not see the attraction, but he felt that specific pull towards her, so I grudgingly accepted it. All though I don't think he ever told her either.
"We are safe without any interruptions, yes?" She narrows her eyes at me.
"Why?" Is all she asks. Keeping a blank face, so not letting her see any of my emotions.
"Because I do not want to just barge into my daughter's life, and take over. I would like you, Adele Stackhouse, to introduce us on neutral grounds." I tell her simply.
"Why now? That girl's been through hell and back. Why do you suddenly want to involve yourself in her life? After twenty-one years out of it."
I felt like I'd been slapped in the face.
"Woman... you're pushing it. I don't need to explain my reasons to you. I trusted my son Fintan to give you the basics of information regarding my daughter. It is now safe for me to be involved in her life, as I had intended to always be apart of it," I pause.
"Did she receive any of the letters or gifts I sent her over the years?" I demand. She glared at me and hissed out an angry reply.
"No, she never did. I felt that girl deserved not to have her head screwed with; plus it would not have been fair on the other two, who got very little on their birthdays, so no. She did not receive any of your letters or gifts. I gave Fintan an earful too, though I've not seen him before Sookie's seventh birthday."
"You fool. You've no idea what is in those letters. Where are they? As for my son, he passed away to the summer lands." I saw a look of pain cross her eyes.
"How am I a fool, Niall? Other than protecting that girl from a world of hurt!" That's not what I was expecting her to say next. My eyebrows rose in surprise.
"Do not jump to assumptions Mrs. Stackhouse. After all... you proclaim to be a Christian woman yet you had an affair with my son, which gave you Corbett and Linda. Even though you were married to that stale human man. Do not accuse my intentions of being anything but honorable when it comes to my daughter. You do not know me like I do not know you. But, I do know more about you than you think." My tone had gotten icy, and I saw the color satisfyingly drain from the old lady's face.
"Sookie must not know." Is all she said.
"She will resent you for keeping secrets from her, for lying about a lot of things. How has she not heard them in your thoughts?" My four children all have the gift of telepathy.
The old bat looked rather smug as she responded, recovering quickly from my little threat.
"I begged Fintan to find a way; before Sookie could fully understand everything to block certain thoughts from her. So they are private and I don't think about them when she is around. To protect her from the truth of course." She actually had the audacity to smirk at me. I really wish I could blast the smirk from her old wrinkly face.
"You will give me all of those letters I have written my daughter over the years, including the gifts I gave her." The command and power in my tone left no room for arguments and Adele Stackhouse tried to fight it but the more I stared her down the harder she found it to ignore. In the end, she glared at me and stomped off like a child instead of acting like a fifty to a sixty-year-old woman. Each and every single item better still be in this house.
I close my eyes and breath in. I smell her scent, the same as all of my children's but hers is slightly sweeter a different kind of blend, due to being a fairy female and half-human. I focus on it to calm my rising anger down. If I killed the woman who raised her, I know she will resent me, and I do not want that. Finally, the woman comes back with a large box full of stuff and dumps it in front of me.
"Now, please do kindly leave, and do not go behind my back and introduce yourself to Sookie. She does not deserve to have her life screwed up by false promises." She is still continuing with this line of accusing. I rose to my full height, fed up with this woman's bossy, stubborn act.
"You do not have any right to tell me what I can or can not do with my own flesh and blood. You have no rights over my daughter. I expect to find every gift I have given her within this box. I have no idea what my son ever saw in you. He called you his sweet southern belle, and couldn't stop singing your praises, but from what I've seen today that's the complete opposite of what I was told."
And with that, I pick up the box and turn on my heal disappearing from view, but not from the house. I focused on Sookie's scent and ended up in her bedroom. Warding the door so the old bat couldn't enter or hear. Looking around her room, I place the box on her queen size bed and walk over to the dresser where there's a dozen or so photo's scattered over it in wooden frames.
My baby girl looks absolutely stunning. Blonde hair, blue eyes, a bright smile, tanned. She clearly loves the sun rays, which is nothing unusual for a sky fae. I bet she is out in it, every chance she can get. This confuses me slightly, regarding Pythia's hint regarding my daughter and the Viking. The thought alone makes my blood boil.
Seeing these photos make me long to hold her even more. Loath my position within my kingdom and Supernatural community for all the years I've missed. Twenty-one years have gone but I plan on being apart of her life for as long, as we shall both walk this earth and my kingdom.
I also noticed that in one of the photos she is wearing some kind of uniform. I do not approve of this attire at all. Tiny black shorts and a very tight white fitted t-shirt standing outside of a building with a group of people with a sign above it called; Merlotte's bar and grill!
Clicking my fingers my quill and parchment appear and I begin to write a letter to my daughter. She will have this one including the one the old bat had hidden for years. How dare she! My precious baby has no idea who she is, and what her telepathy means. In my own ways, those letters were supposed to help her, as I couldn't be here in person.
To my beautiful princess,
I must warn you not to let your... the woman you believe is your grandmother know that I have written this letter and successfully given it to you this time. She had hidden all the gifts and letters I sent to you on your birthdays and Christmases over the years. They are all in the box on your bed.
You truly out-shine even your mother's beauty. Wistfully, she died giving birth to you, my beautiful girl. You gave me a new strength to keep moving forwards in this world and to bring peace to my kingdom, to make it safe for you, for our people, and for us. So I can be with you in person! Soon my child.
One of the gifts I sent you is a locket, the same one I wear around my neck and have done since you where born is a photo of me and your mother. I wanted you to not feel alone if you ever did and know you are loved beyond the stars and moon.
I must leave soon to set plans into motion. I need you to be aware you are not alone with your telepathy and that you aren't just a simple human girl. You for one are my only daughter but there are others out there, and one of those others may pay you a visit at some point in the near future.
His name is Eric Northman, and because I plan on publicly claiming you within our communities, I have to register you due to your residing in his area.
I can not tell more than that in this letter in case it falls into the wrong hands.
Just know that I love you.
Your father,
Niall Brigant.
I kissed the letter and placed it on her bed, knowing this time she will receive it and the old bat downstairs can't interfere this time.
Now, it is time to involuntarily pay the Viking Sheriff a visit.
And so it begins :)
- THANK YOU so much for the response to chapter one :)
Hope everyone has a fab weekend :)
