With one last look around my daughter's room, I spin and disappear from the house focusing on the Viking. How teleportation works is that one has to focus on the area or person you wish to seek out or be in. It's a rather simple and convenient way to travel. I know lots of other supernaturals envy us fae and our magical abilities that seem to out-shine other kinds.

Although this form of transport has gotten us into trouble a few times, it has resulted in having to deal with unfortunate situations to ensure our kind stays out of the human world's public knowledge. I know other Supernaturals have had run-ins and close calls with humans in the past.

When I open my eyes, my eyebrows rise in surprise. I have arrived in a woodland area. The time is just after sunset so it's a little dark but with my perfect eyesight and his, we won't miss much. I turn around and taking in my surroundings looking for anything that might look as if it does not belong here.

To my surprise, I find nothing, until I hear the shuffle of leaves behind a large old oak tree, or so I thought it was behind until the Viking himself emerged from the tree trunk its self. I remained still and cool, leaning against my cane, that's really just for show, and it seems to intimidate people even more, than just my presence alone, so it's a handy tool to have, adding the fear tactic to my presence.

"Viking." I greet him, and he freezes for a split second before turning back around to face me after shutting the hidden door of the old oak tree.

"King Niall... couldn't you have waited until I was in my office at least? Why the fuck did you have to appear here?" Folding his arms, he leaned back against the said oak tree. His leather booted ankles are crossed, and he wore dark jeans, a black vest, and a leather jacket.

"No. This is of most importance and I didn't want to have any accidental ears listening in on what I am about to inform you of. I am reluctantly giving you this information out of the respect for our council rules among us Supernatural beings."

"Get to it, I don't have all night. I'm not in the mood for cryptic shit! Your presence at my secret location has pissed me off, so this better be good!" He warned. I rolled my eyes.

"You don't need the attitude Viking. I'd rather not be here either to tell you the honest truth. But I have it on good authority and recommendation you are the best person for this delicate situation. I'm here to register my daughter out of respect for our rules. I plan on publicly claiming her, as my kin."

The look on his face was priceless. It is hard to surprise a one-thousand plus-year-old Viking Vampire Sheriff and I think I have just succeeded.

"Daughter, you say?" I sigh.

"Yes, daughter. She's twenty-one years old, my youngest and last child. You do not need to know all the details. She isn't even aware of any of this yet. Until she reads my letter. She is also aware of your name. Are you familiar with a bar named Merlotte's?" I asked him, this had been eating away at me after seeing her in that disgraceful uniform. I think, I just surprised him twice in a short space of time, in one night.

"The shifter's bar? Why? What's that pain in the ass mutt got to do with any of this?"

"Do explain in proper English Viking. What's a Shifter got to do with Merlotte's?"

"If I answer, you answer first." I roll my eyes.

"You have my word, just tell me. I have been honest and upfront with you."

"Fine! Merlotte's Bar and Grill is run by a shifter-mutt who is the owner of the said bar in question."

"I dislike this situation even more." I frown. First the uniform, and now hearing this.

"What has the shifter done to piss you off? I was unaware shifters and fairies run around?" I glare at him, wondering why I'm doing this yet again. For her extra safety.

"I have discovered this evening this is where my daughter unfortunately works." The Viking had the audacity to burst out laughing.

"You. The ruler of Faerie, King. Allow your daughter to work in a shifter's bar? I've heard it all now! I still do not understand what this has to do with me, and where I fit into this except for registering her. But I think that line, makes up for you intruding upon my secret location."

"I do not have much of a choice, Viking. As I said, there is a lot you do not need to know about my past. All you need to know is that my daughter currently and has been living in your area for twenty-one years and that I plan on publicly claiming her in the near future. You have been recommended by a mutual acquaintance as a good choice for a protector, whilst she's here."

"A vampire as a protector for a fairy princess who has no clue who she is?" He said, amused.

"Ironic, I know. But I wouldn't be here if I didn't have to be."

"And why do you have to be? Why not just take her and keep her in Faerie?" I knew I was going to have to give him a little more information.

"She's been raised in a modern world, Viking. I do not want her to resent me; the human woman she's been living with has stopped her from knowing anything about her heritage. I will give you this. I had written her letters, sent her gifts over the years, but the old bat had kept them from her. Just because I couldn't be with her, didn't mean I didn't want her in my life. Just because the Vampire/Fairy was over, does not mean that my kingdom was at peace. I still had enemies. My human lover died giving birth to my daughter, and Faerie wasn't a safe place for a baby."

"You've not seen her since she was born?" He asked.

"Once from a safe distance when she turned sixteen."

"What is in this for me? You have me intrigued."
