Sorry about punctuation last chapter. I still do not own PJO or HOO

As Percy eyes slowly adjusted to the darkness, dust slowly drifted down from the ceiling. You could hear the soft sound of water dribbling down the fountain, and dripping down the hole. "Everyone, torches out and lit. Let's get some light," said the Captain. As the crew scrambled to light their torches, the Captain walked onto the narrow winding path surrounding the cavern. The path clinged to the cavern wall as it led down towards the fountain. The Captain strode forward. As his footsteps were made on the pathway, and the dust got thrown up, flying up into the air, down sailors' airways making them cough. A yellow glint could be seen. As Percy looked closer he realised it was the gold. The entire path was made of gold. Percy recalled a story about a city called El Dorado. Supposedly the streets there were paved with gold and the houses made of it. Percy remembered laughing at the Spanish buffoonery for trying to find a mythical city made of gold, a myth that was told to children as a bedtime story. Now he wasn't so sure if the city was a myth. As they walked along the path, small chunks of rock fell from the ceiling. Then the path turned into a set of crudely carved flight of stairs. The gold path ended here. The Captain tested his weight on the stairs. Pools of dew lay in the pockmarked holes of the stairs. "Careful now," he called back and started stepping slowly down step by step. As the rest of the crew followed suit, bigger chunks of rock had started fallen down, but with the limited light and the seemingly infinite abyss below, no one heard the rocks falling, only the cavern groaning. As they approached the fountain you could make out the women's features. All of them were young women made of gold. In each of their eyes, precious stones shined. In one sapphires, another had emeralds, another had opals glinting in the torchlight, but it was the last one that caught Percy's eye, while the others had green or blue eyes, she had dark glittering onyx eyes. The Captain approached the fountain nervously. The chamber must of just moved thought the Captain as he came closer. Then a huge chunk of rock fell and hit one of the marble pillars surrounding the fountain. The pillar cracked and groaned, before the falling into the abyss, the boulder following it.

The world lay still for a moment. Then more rocks, some the sizes of carts started to fall down onto the fountain. The men who were frozen a second ago, leapt into action running back up the steps. Some men slipping and falling into the abyss. The men pushed each other out of the way, trying to reach the gold path. Percy who had been inspecting the onyx eyed statue, felt a push to his back. He stumbled and hit his head on something hard. The last sensation he felt was a flash of white-hot pain, and of water trickling down his throat. Meanwhile some of the sailors had reached the gold path. Sprinting up ahead of the main group, to reach the smooth stone room, but it was too late. A crack could be heard, and a boulder the size of a small building landed on top of the first man. His pitiful scream could not be heard in the collapsing cavern. The boulder now sealed the cavern as the rocks continued to fall. The other men looked at each other finally realising their fate. Some men fell to their knees praying to whatever god they believed in, but it was too late even for their gods or god to save them now, as one by one they got crushed by huge rocks. Jan, Klaus and the Captain were stranded on the marble platform in front of the fountain. Every second a new rock fell, and another scream was heard. Then Jan looked up above them. A huge boulder straining to break free it's earthen prison. Jan tapped the Captain's shoulder and pointed up. The Captain looked at him, then up, and for the first time in his life, Jan saw his Captain scared of what was going to come. Klaus meanwhile was scanning the cavern for Percy, but he, Klaus himself with his eagle sharp eyesight, could not see the familiar mop of black hair. As the rocks came closer, the Captain said "Well boys it's been a pleasure commanding you. See you on the other side," before the final boulder came down on top of them. The cavern finally lay still, as the rocks settled down into their new positions, the only sound was the shifting of dirt between the rocks. Then a groaning came as through the rock, the fountain pushed up, coming out of the pile of rocks like a seed growing out of the ground. It looked exactly the same except for the missing marble pillars. At the bottom of the long marble dragon, coiled round the tree, was a tan man with messy black hair, filled with dust. His eyes closed as the water slowly dripped down into his slightly open mouth. Outside nine men lay dead, their bodies neatly arranged in a row. On each of their heads, a small hole could be seen, and on all nine of the men, it was in exactly the same place. Twenty odd men now surrounded the fist, as a man with a feathered cap looked into the gap, the sailors had gone through fifteen minutes previously. "Idiots. They didn't know the trap mechanism, they blotched it ." He muttered into the gap as if speaking to a person. "Lieutenant, the British are coming," said the man behind him. "Blast it" he shouted hitting a nearby tree with his bare fist. "Cover our tracks and let's move" he shouted to his fellow men. They nodded scuffing dirt over the footprints and covering the gap with ferns and pine branches. They dragged the bodies into a newly dug hole and covered in with dirt and ferns. The man with the feather in his cap inspected the work, and with curt nod they jogged off into the forest, leaving no trace that they were there. The gap would remain hidden for the next 377 years. Deep in the underground cavern the man opened one of his eyes, a bright, sea green eye.
