1
TWO YEARS EARLIER...
Sabrina Grimm's fingers twirled around a rose's stem before her pointer was pricked by its thorns. She examined the small injury. She wasn't hurt by it, but she wondered to herself how such a beautiful thing could possess the ability to harm her. The coppery taste of blood filled her mouth as she sucked on her finger to stop the bleeding.
The blazing yellow sun washed over her face, bringing warmth to her cold mood. She smiled softly and laid back on the grass, letting each blade surround her.
"Sabrina?" A voice called in the distance.
"I'm over here." She replied in a monotone voice, not caring to yell. The girl sat up, supporting her body by her elbows and saw her younger sister, Daphne, walking up to the field. Once Sabrina saw her, the blond laid back down and shut her eyes.
Daphne's long, dark brown hair was styled in two braids that cascaded down her lower back with flowers sprinkled in between them.
"Mother wants you to come inside." The girl said, holding out her hand for her older sister to take.
Sabrina opened one eye, looked at Daphne's ,hand then closed it. She did not want her peace to be disrupted by an unnecessary birthday party. She sucked on her bleeding finger for a moment, then she said, "tell Mother and Father I don't want a party."
Daphne grabbed her sister's hand and pulled her up from the ground. Sabrina crossed her arms as the brunette dusted the grass and leaves off of her sister.
"You'll have to take that up with them. Besides, you are eighteen now."
"Exactly," Sabrina cut in. "I am eighteen now, which means that I should be allowed to decide whether or not I have a party." Sabrina ran her fingers through her unkempt blond hair, stopping when she reached a knot.
"Well," Daphne stood up from where she was brushing her sister off, "maybe they would appreciate it if their eldest allowed them to throw her one last party."
Sabrina sighed. "Maybe," she took her sister's hand and they made their way out of the grasslands. It was abnormally sunny that day, especially since it was February. There should be snow, and if not that, rain. They did live in New York, after all.
Daphne skipped down the steep hill, her braids dancing with her. Sabrina did not mind, though. She stayed at her even pace down the hill, until the sisters made it to the house.
It was a yellow two-story with bright blue shutters and a wrap-around porch. Technically, the house belonged to the girls' grandmother, Relda, but the rest of the family decided to move in after the war. Sabrina walked up onto the porch, meeting Daphne who had arrived two minutes earlier.
"You could have picked up your pace." She complained subtly.
"I could have not come at all."
Daphne ignored her older sister and pulled a giant keyring out of her dress pocket. Each of the Grimms owned their own set by the time they turned thirteen. There were too many keys on the ring to count, it felt, and at times the family themselves' did not know how many locks the keys belonged to. Daphne unlocked the dozen locks on the door and knocked three times before announcing to the house, "we're back!" Upon the enchantment Relda had placed on the house, you had to announce when you were entering and leaving in order to fully lock and unlock the door. Daphne never got tired of the act, though Sabrina found it to be a bit much to do something as simple as opening a door.
The chocolatey aroma of cake filled Sabrina and Daphne's noses when they entered the house. The tight living room was filled with some of their closest Everafter friends just for Sabrina. Everyone smiled when they saw the birthday girl. And though she had ratty hair with twigs in it and dirt on her dress, she was wrapped in warm hugs. Afterward, Sabrina was greeted by her parents, Henry and Veronica.
"Mother, what is all of this?" Sabrina asked with annoyance.
"My first baby is eighteen," Veronica pulled her eldest daughter into her arms. "I have to make this birthday one to remember."
"Oh," Sabrina replied. She pulled away from her mother and looked over to her father.
"Go wash up, we'll be waiting." He told Sabrina.
Sabrina obeyed her father and went up the stairs. She did not have much time to shower, so instead, she changed into a clean dress and attempted to brush the twigs out of her hair. Returning to the bottom of the steps to the same group as before, she hoped to get through talking to them all shortly. The teenager desperately wanted to meet her school friends in a few hours.
The night was long and Sabrina dreaded every second of it, wishing she could go and rest up instead. Eventually, everyone cleared out and it was left to the Grimms to tidy up. It was around midnight when they finished, and the Grimm house residents went to sleep.
Sabrina took a shower, put on her nightgown, and slipped underneath her covers. The blond tossed and turned throughout the night until it was roughly two in the morning.
She let out an exasperated sigh and stood up, making her way towards her closet. She filed through her dresses until she found her favorite blue dress. She put the dress on and looked at herself in the mirror. Surprisingly, her hair wasn't frizzy like normal but coily in the most perfect way possible.
"You are going to get in so much trouble." Sabrina turned around to find Daphne awake, hands on her hips and giving Sabrina a disapproving glare. The fourteen-year-old had a party dress of her own on and shoes to match.
"You're one to talk. I'm the one that's actually an adult in this situation." Sabrina said, not shying away from using every opportunity she could to remind others that she was legally an adult now.
"That doesn't mean that I'll get caught."
"Where are you going anyways?" Sabrina asked.
"Rachel's party," Rachel was Sabrina's best friend of five years. They met after the war ended when the humans began to file in. Rachel seemed to be the only one who piqued Sabrina's interest and the two worked quite well together. It played out especially well, given that Rachel's little brother, Daniel, was best friends with Daphne as well.
"How did you know about that?" Rachel and Sabrina had been planning the party for months. It was supposed to be held in an abandoned barn a mile away from the sunflowers and almost everyone they went to school with would attend. Sabrina was told that Rachel was even able to smuggle a bit of wine from her parents' stash.
"You don't think I can hear your telephone calls? I'm surprised Mother and Father haven't found out."
"Well, I guess we should get going then." Sabrina knew how stubborn Daphne could be. It seemed to run in the family, as most of the Grimms were the same way. Sabrina grabbed her boots and put them on and the sisters exited the room together. The teenagers tip-toed out of the house and made their way to the sunflower field. When they were halfway there, two brunettes caught their eyes.
"Percy, Red?" Daphne called. The two were their friends. They had known them for quite some time, as Relda had taken them in as her own.
The two heads turned around and looked at the sisters.
"I guess we're all going to the same place then?" Percy asked.
"I guess so," Sabrina replied, annoyed that she would now be in charge of looking after the group as the eldest.
"We should probably keep walking," Red chimed.
And so they did. It was almost half-past three in the morning by the time they arrived at the barn. Music could be heard a few feet away from the building and tea candles were placed all around, illuminating the area.
Sabrina was right about attendance. Over half the school was there. Everyone starred at the guest of honor when she walked in. She did not mind the attention, though it was not as pleasurable as it could have been. Sabrina headed to the back of the barn, hoping to find Rachel.
"There's my birthday girl." Rachel ran up to her best friend and wrapped Sabrina in her arms. "I missed you."
"It hasn't even been two days," Sabrina said.
"I know," Rachel's acknowledgment came out in a sing-song tone. She pulled away and sighed. "Okay, well, go have fun. Here, take some champagne," The brunette handed a glass to Sabrina. "Oh, and a few people left presents on that table." Sabrina looked over in the direction Rachel had pointed in and made her way over, curious. Gift boxes were stacked on top of the table and seemed to tower over her.
"Is this where her presents are going?" Someone asked. Sabrina turned around and her jaw dropped. She shut her mouth immediately after, not because of manners, she could care less about those, but to stop herself from saying something she would regret. The voice belonged to a boy she knew a little too well. Blonde curly hair, pointy pixie ears, green eyes with a button-up to match. Robin Goodfellow.
"R-robin hi," Sabrina stammered.
"Hello, Grimm," Robin said, flashing his signature smirk. "This is for you," He tossed a gift box to her and Sabrina gently placed it next to the pile of presents. Robin, or Puck as the Grimms and other Everafters knew him, was notorious for pulling pranks, and Sabrina had a feeling that whatever he put inside that box wouldn't be pleasant.
"Where's Marshmallow?" Puck scanned the crowd for Daphne.
"Not sure," Sabrina said, her mind half wondering. Her attention was caught by a girl approaching them.
"Hi, Robin," The girl said. She went over by Puck and linked arms with the boy then kissed him on the cheek. "Who's this?" She looked Sabrina up and down.
"This is Sabrina, Relda's granddaughter. We grew up together, she's like a sister to me."
"I'm Rose," She then went up to the blonde and hugged her. Sabrina tried to escape from the girl's grasp. "I should go get something to drink. I'll be back." Rose said after letting go.
"So is she your girlfriend or something?" Sabrina asked once Rose was gone.
"U-um, yes, yeah, she is actually."
Sabrina snickered. "How did you manage to get one of those?" She took a sip of her champagne and eyed the boy.
"I've dated people before."
Sabrina choked on her drink and laughed."Besides Peter?"
"Yes, besides Peter, and don't say that too loudly, someone could hear you."
"I don't think you have anything to worry about. You're not the first person in this town to have a same-sex relationship."
"Fair enough, but that doesn't mean that there aren't people that would kill me if they found out."
Sabrina nodded her head in agreement. Rose had returned and Sabrina was not sure if the girl knew about her boyfriend's previous relationship, so she refrained from saying anything else and went off to find the others. Sabrina excused herself from the couple and went off to find the others.
Red was by the drinks table, her back pressed against the wall. Sabrina approached her friend and Red gave the blond a half-smile.
"When did he decide to show up?" Red asked, nodding her head in Puck and Rose's direction.
"Apparently tonight. With a girlfriend." Sabrina sneered.
"Ouch. That must make you feel terrible,"
"It could be worse," Sabrina said. She desperately wanted to forget about her romantic history with him. Though their time was brief, it pained her to think about him being with someone else, not to mention that they were supposed to be married in the future.
Sabrina stayed by Red and scanned the room. She looked over and saw Rachel talking amongst several others. One thing the two girls did not have in common was their social skills. Rachel could talk to anyone with ease, Sabrina, on the other hand, not so much. Her friend then proceeded to stand up on one of the tables. She took her fork and tapped it against her champagne glass, catching everyone's attention. "Firstly, thank you all for coming. This means so much to me, as I wanted to make sure that our birthday girl, Sabrina Grimm," She gestured in her friend's direction, "had the best eighteenth birthday ever. So, before I send you all home, let us all raise our glasses to Sabrina and wish her a happy birthday."
Everyone in the crowd raised their glasses to the birthday girl and Sabrina smiled awkwardly.
"Okay, now everyone get out, I have to clean this place up. Oh, and, Daphne, Percy, I would suggest that you two stop making out as well." The group turned in their direction and looked at the two as they drunkenly kissed. Sabrina and Red both rolled their eyes and approached the two, pulling them apart. They both blushed and chuckled nervously.
The group filed out of the building and made their way to their homes. It was now close to five and everyone had to return home to prepare for school, as it began in the next few hours.
Sabrina, Red, Percy, Daphne, Robin, and Rose all stayed to help Rachel clean up. Collectively, it only took them half an hour to finish tidying everything but by the time they returned home, they barely had time to change their clothes and leave for school. Daphne and Percy were still drunk and wanted to go right to sleep as soon as possible, but Sabrina reminded the two that they should have drank responsibly, if at all. Daphne responded and said that Sabrina should have watched them instead of flirting with Puck, who was taken. Sabrina denied it a bit too much.
They barely acknowledged the other Grimm house residents when they left the house to go to school. Sabrina tried her best to sit through her lessons, but it was much harder than she had anticipated due to her lack of sleep. When it was finally lunch, Sabrina was surprised to see Puck and Rose sitting in the same spot that Sabrina and Rachel would normally eat at. The two did come home with them last night, but Sabrina surely did not expect to see them at school.
"You're enrolled?" Sabrina asked when she sat down in the grass next to them. This was supposed to be the lunch period for the fourth years, and though she was unsure of Rose, Sabrina knew that Puck would be a first-year at most, due to his lack of proper education. Sabrina was behind herself after the war, but she stayed in Ferryport Landing and worked her way up to her grade level rather than traveling the world with her uncle looking for magical artifacts.
"Of course I am," Puck said. It came out with a strong sense of pride, which was not unsurprising knowing how cocky the boy could be. "Did you think I stopped lessons the entire time I was gone?"
"Well you didn't exactly attend any for the-," Sabrina held her tongue, forgetting that it was very possible that Rose was just a human. Everafters were immortal but they were the only ones that knew that. Puck had been alive for over four thousand years, though he still held the appearance of a teenage boy. This was because Everafters had the ability to stop aging.
"For the four thousand years I've been alive?" Puck filled in. A look of shock appeared in Sabrina's eyes and she looked over at Rose who seemed unfazed.
"She knows?"
"Well she is an Everafter," Robin replied nonchalantly.
That did make sense. Sabrina hardly doubted that Puck would even consider dating a human. Although, he did take quite a liking to her before she became an Everafter.
Sabrina looked away and hoped to distract from her thoughts. Thankfully, a girl with a sage dress and amber eyes was seen exiting the schoolhouse. Sabrina waved the girl over and she happily sat down next to her best friend.
"I see you're taking your homecoming well?" Rachel asked, nodding her head towards Puck. While they were cleaning up the barn, the two girls had spent most of the time gossiping with each other about Robin's return with his new girlfriend. Rachel was especially invested because not only was Robin incredibly attractive but he was also Sabrina's first kiss.
"This is hardly a homecoming," Puck scoffed. Technically, Puck's home was in Greece, but that also changed when his kingdom moved to a secret location in Central Park, not to mention that he was kicked out of the kingdom for refusing to marry his betrothed.
"I believe that home is where your people are," Rose said. She had barely spoken a word the entire conversation, but something about her response made Sabrina's skin crawl. "And, well, it seems to me that Puck's people are here."
"That's sweet, rosebud," Puck leaned over and kissed his girlfriend on the cheek. Sabrina pretended to gag though she was secretly hurt. Puck even had a cute nickname for her. And it wasn't even a nickname that came with an insult like all of Sabrina's did.
Sabrina's fist began to clench up. They still had another fifteen minutes left of lunch and something in her felt like she would be sick.
"I'll see you at home, Puck." Sabrina stood up and walked away from them. She went to the back of the schoolhouse. Pressing her back against the wall, she breathed in and out almost in wheezes. She just wanted to go home and sleep. Maybe, if she just shut her eyes for a few moments, she would be all right. Just a moment of silence, that's what she needed. She shut her eyes, letting the darkness consume her as she drifted away.
Ring! Ring! Ring!
Sabrina jumped awake. Lunch was over and it was time for another three hours of lessons. Fantastic. Sabrina walked to the front of the building. The yard was empty and the steps creaked loudly when she walked on them. Before trying the handle, she looked around and gasped. The town was isolated, homes were shot into, some were ablaze. Ferryport Landing was in ruins.
She pulled the door open and went inside. The sight shook her to her core. In front of her was her family, all pinned up against the wall. Sitting in the desks were people with torches. They eerily spun their heads around in unison when Sabrina opened the door. They were all humans. Before Sabrina could think of how to save her family, someone from behind her tied her arms together with rope. He forced Sabrina over to her family and threw her onto the ground.
"Ladies and gentlemen," Her captor called with pride. "We have done it," Sabrina looked over at him, quivering at the sight of the familiar chocolate brown eyes and hair that belonged to the person whom she loved so dearly.
"My ex-fianceƩ and her family will now be put to death for possessing one of the most dangerous elements of all."
"Br*dley no!" Sabrina cried. Her heart ached. How could he do something like this?
"Oh, Sabrina," Br*dley turned toward her and cupped her cheek. "You thought I loved you?"
"I-,"
Sabrina woke in a cold sweat, her mind flooded with questions. She knew it was just a dream and she should calm down but it was impossible. What was going on? And, more importantly, who was Br*dley?
"'Brina?" Rachel called.
Sabrina spun around and walked in the direction of her friend. "Are you well?"
"Enough," Sabrina said, still in a trance.
"Well, I should hope so. You missed the rest of your lessons."
"I did?"
Rachel nodded her head. Sabrina would not hear the end of it from her father if he found out, but she could care less about that anyway.
"Everyone is waiting for you at the door," The brunette said. The two walked to the front of the yard. Sabrina was shaking the entire time. Rachel had asked what was wrong but she responded in mumbles.
Just as Rachel had said, Daphne, Red, Percy, Robin, and Rose were all waiting for Sabrina at the door. Rachel and Sabrina said their goodbyes and The group of six exited the schoolyard.
"Sabrina, are you okay?" Robin had approached the girl who was swiftly walking ahead of the crowd. She did not even realize that it was Puck because he had called her by her first name, which he never did.
"Of course I'm okay. Why does everyone keep asking me that? I'm fine!" Sabrina half-yelled. Puck seemed to jump back a little.
"S-sorry, I was just checking."
"Well, there's no need to. Come on, we have to pick up Basil." Sabrina continued on, being sure to focus on her six-year-old brother and not an immature teenage boy that she used to like.
They were only five minutes away from the elementary school but walking there felt like an eternity. All Sabrina wanted was to go home and rest. No, not rest. She couldn't rest. Because, if she did, the nightmares would return.
Sabrina was the only one that knew about the nightmares. She did not have the desire to tell anyone. It was too much of a burden even for her. What hurt the most was that she would forget about them every time she woke up. She would have sprinklings - a name or a general summary- but that would go away within minutes of having the dream and all she could remember was the fright it gave her.
The elementary schoolhouse was as lively as ever when the group approached. Sabrina was about to go up before Puck decided to take charge and go first. Sabrina watched as he poked his head inside the door. Basil was ecstatic to see Robin and the boy ran up to hug the teenager. Robin ruffled the boy's ginger hair and put him on his shoulders.
"How's my favorite Grimm?"
Basil's green eyes widened and he bent over to look Puck in the eyes. "I'm your favorite?"
"Of course you are." Puck tickled the boy and they both laughed. Puck had a younger brother of his own, Matthew, but they rarely talked. He was always too busy running the kingdom.
They made their way home. Basil talked everyone's ears off along the way, as usual. He was never too shy to ask a question or make a comment, and he especially was not too shy when it came to asking Puck questions about Rose.
"How did you meet him?"
Rose looked up at her boyfriend and blushed. "Well, I happened to be the hostesses' daughter of one of the homes that your Uncle Jake and Robin stayed at. They remained in town extra long that time and I guess you could say that we took quite a liking to each other. So, I asked my parents if I could go with them and they allowed it."
Basil bent over to look Puck in the eyes a second time. "Are you going to marry her? Because, as I remember you are supposed to marry Sabrina in the future."
Puck frantically put Basil on the ground and began to brush his clothes off vigorously. "Uh- I- I don't know, Basil. I, uh, I hope so."
Sabrina frowned and Rose's jealous expression turned into a smile.
"Basil, you can't just tell random people that!" Sabrina scolded. "You are lucky that she's an Everafter."
"Sorry, 'Brina,"
"It's all right, just be careful."
The rest of the walk was awkward and no one said anything else. Thankfully, they returned back to the Grimm house in a short amount of time.
"Robin, so nice to see you," Veronica said when the teenagers and Basil entered the house. She stood up from her place at the dining table and walked over to give the boy a hug. "And who's this?" She asked, looking at Rose.
"This is Rose, my girlfriend," Robin answered.
"Jacob never told me anything about you bringing home a girl," Henry said as he approached them.
"This is Henry and Veronica, Jake's brother and his wife." the blonde explained.
"Nice to meet you all." Rose shook hands with them.
"You as well," Henry said.
"Dinner will be ready at five if you would like to stay, Rose." Sabrina's mother offered.
"Oh, well, thank you. I will only be staying for a few hours, though. Mayor White is my aunt and she invited me to stay with them while I'm in town."
"Oh, Miss White is a dear friend of ours. I didn't know she had a sister."
"My mother lives in Germany, so they don't talk often."
"I see," Veronica said. "Well, stay as long as you must, you are always welcome."
"As I recall," a familiar voice began, "I have two nieces and a nephew that live here as well."
"Hello, Uncle Jake," Sabrina said.
"Hi, 'Brina," Uncle Jake greeted, hugging Sabrina tightly.
"You're stinky," Sabrina said, crinkling her nose.
"Sabrina," her mother said disapprovingly. Sabrina ignored her.
"I know," Jacob said smugly with a wink. "Oh, and this is for you, birthday girl." He handed Sabrina a gift box. Sabrina smiled and thanked him.
"That reminds me," Henry began. "Where were the four of you last night? Or should I say, early this morning?"
"What do you mean?" Sabrina inquired.
"Well, Miss White called last night saying they got a noise complaint at four in the morning near the sunflower field. So, I thought I would go see if there was anything up there and you will never guess what I found. It turns out that there was a party there being held for none other than a Sabrina Grimm."
"Father -,"
"Yes?"
"I -,"
"You know I was thinking. You are about to graduate and, frankly, I do not think that you are exactly ready to be an Everafter in the real world. Sure you have blended in for the past five years but do you know what to do when there's a monster, if you will, that attacks you?"
"Well, not exactly." Sabrina realized. Though, she hadn't had many encounters since the war had ended.
"So, here's a thought. Why don't you stop going to parties and taking the others with you behind our backs and start learning how to be an adult?"
Sabrina sighed. There was no use in disagreeing. "Yes, sir," She said.
"Good. Let's start tomorrow."
. . .
Sabrina awoke the next morning to Henry standing over her, looking more impatient than ever.
"Get downstairs and meet me outside at seven." He ordered. Sabrina looked up at her clock and saw that it was fifteen past six in the morning, a bit too late for Henry's standards.
Sabrina got up immediately and put on her work pants and shirt along with a pair of boots. She tied her hair back in a ponytail, grabbed her sword and scabbard, and headed downstairs.
As soon as she entered the kitchen to fix her breakfast, Robin entered in a huff.
"Sad that your little rosebud left?" Sabrina teased. Last night, Puck had seemed more upset than normal when his girlfriend had left and didn't even come out for dinner.
"Don't talk to me,"
"Someone's in a mood,"
"Well, maybe I wouldn't be if you didn't make Rose break up with me last night,"
"Oh,"
"Yeah, oh. Turns out, she thought it would be best if she just left and let you and me 'find our way to each other'."
"Robin, I- I'm sorry,"
The boy didn't reply. He left the kitchen instead and Sabrina moved on. She fixed her eggs, ate, and met Henry outside as he wished and her first training session began. Daphne had joined them under Henry's wishes as well.
Henry had brought a full-length mirror with a wooden frame out and set it up against the house. He was about to step inside the mirror but first asked, "are you coming?" He asked.
Sabrina and Daphne followed, even though they were skeptical. The mirror led into the Hall of Wonders, a secret safe where anything and everything magical or supernatural was held. It was an endless void of doors made of various materials with plaques above that described the rooms' contents. The girls followed their father through the hall until they stopped in front of a door with a plaque that read Grendel.
Daphne shuddered. "I am not training with that thing."
"You don't have a choice," Henry said.
Sabrina peered into the small square window to look at the monster. Grendel was asleep, but it made Sabrina have a lump in her throat knowing his rest would not last very long.
Henry instructed the girls to make their way out of the hall. After waiting for some time, he pulled out his key ring and unlocked the door. Thankfully, Grendel was not as angry as Henry had expected when the creature was awoken and was able to be led out of the hall with ease. Henry met his daughters in the woods at a spot close enough to home where the walk wouldn't be hard if one of the girls got hurt but far enough away from humans to cancel out any suspicion.
"Okay, line up by that tree and start running when I say go," Henry ordered. The girls obeyed and once they took their marks Henry prepared his hand to slap the beast. "Go!" He shouted, slapping the beast on its bottom to anger it. Grendel ran after the girls immediately and the sisters picked up their pace.
Sabrina tried her hardest to keep going. All she had to do was stop the beast, which seemed easy enough. Only, Sabrina had forgotten how. This was her first encounter with it since the war, after all. It hurt her but she tried to dig back in her memories to figure out what had happened. What were his weaknesses? Blind in one eye and...something else? Some sort of leg injury? Was it a leg infection? Yes, and that would be just enough.
That was just enough to take out Grendel and prove Henry wrong. This was her chance. All she had to do was somehow get to him and focus on one of his weaknesses she could win. If she could just beat the monster, her father wouldn't be so strict or overprotective. It would be perfect.
The blond slipped behind a tree to the left of her, pressing her back against its bark. Gently and quietly, she retracted her sword from her scabbard. She listened to the bustling of the creature coming towards her. Releasing her senses, the girl took a deep breath in and listened. Grendel's stomps sounded across the forest. He was getting closer.
Thud. Thud. Thud.
Sabrina peered around the corner, preparing herself to meet his eyes. The beast's grotesque features sent a shiver down her spine. She shook as a wave of fear washed over her and instantly in that moment, she didn't know what to do. It was as though she was paralyzed and she was unable to tear her eyes away from the horror in front of her. Get it together she told herself. You can do this. But Sabrina couldn't even finish her thoughts before feeling a large, rubber paw wrap around her body. The next thing she knew, she was sent flailing in the opposite direction.
Sabrina was positive that she was about to fall to her death. Closing her eyes tightly, she thought a silent prayer hoping she would be saved. She landed on a branch and hopped from tree to tree until finally hitting the ground.
"Sabrina!" Daphne called, frantic. It was the last thing her older sister heard until her sight went completely black.
