I had been so focused on Sookie and her reactions, that I'd completely forgotten about the old bat, when she dumped Sookie's stuff on the porch. Brigant had spoken too low for human ears, and asked me to glamour the old witch so she'd get Sookie's stuff. So she wouldn't have to go in herself. She made Sookie jump, and I felt that over protective feeling slip into me again.

"That's not all of it now is it, all of it. Do not miss a single thing?" I tell her, when her old eyes link with mine. She glares at me, and then turns to do the same to Sookie before stomping off again. The interesting part of this evening is the Ancient Pythoness's phone call to Sookie. I wonder if she does this to other people, the meddling seer.

"I can't make you choose, but it's your choice where you stay now that your father isn't here; and our friend isn't whispering in your ear." I tell her.

"Can I try something?" She asks me randomly. I simply raised an eyebrow and don't answer. So she approaches me slowly, and removes my arms (me letting her) and then holds my hands. The sensations I feel when she touches my skin is not describable, I can not form the words, her eyes are locked onto mine. Blue vs blue, before she closes them, and rests her forehead against my chest. Why is this woman not afraid? What did the AP mean? And what has Brigant's boxers in a twist?

"Why can't I hear you?" She asks me randomly.

"What?" Completely thrown off... She couldn't be? Could she?

"Why can't I hear you?" She asked me again, in a more softer tone and whisper.

"Should you be able to be?" I tested her.

"Yes! But your mind's the first I've come across, that I can't. Why?"

The door opened and I looked up again, in time to see Adele dump the box of things and another bag on the floor and shut the door behind her, not even looking or acknowledging us this time.

"I'd prefer to discuss that with you some place more private." I noticed Sookie either didn't notice or bother acknowledging the door opening and closing. OR she was two lost in whatever mind space she is currently in, she seemed to get closer and closer into my personal space. To my surprise, I found I didn't mind it and preferred her being close.

"MERLOTTE. Stop stalking Sookie's woods, and come over. I'm not going anywhere, so you may as well say whatever it is now." I say out loud, knowing fully well he can hear me. Sookie's head lifts up in surprise, and she goes to step back but I remove my hand's from hers, and place my arms around her waist holding her in place... our eyes locked and something passed between us, but I couldn't tell you what. This whole shit was fucking confusing. I get a beep on my phone. I glance in the direction where I hear rustling in the trees. Sookie gasps in shock, and my hold on her tightens.

Removing on arm from around her, I dig my phone out of my back pocket. I look at the text and see a handful of words from the AP, which would explain a few things

She is your mate, do not let her go to Tara's. Don't tell Brigant I told you. She's a key.

A key to what? I glance down at the beautiful creature in my arms, wondering what I did to deserve a fucking Princess. It would explain a few things, and why Brigant looked like he'd love nothing more than to use my own sword on me. I pulled her in even more, and she didn't seem to mind or care. She currently had her eyes gazed on Merlotte approaching the house and I found I did not like it.

I placed my phone back in my pocket and moved my hand up to her neck, I moved my fingers to her chin, turning her head in my direction. She didn't object to my touch, but leaned into it. I heard Merlotte growl, but Sookie didn't.

"Northman..." Merlotte interrupted our moment.

"It's up to you what you tell him." I tell Sookie.

"How much did you hear?" Smart girl.

"Nothing, to be honest. I only saw the three of you and your grandmother." I raised my eyebrows at this. Sookie stiffened in my arms. I shook my head at Merlotte.

"What?" He said, folding his arms. Dumbass shifter.

"Touchy subject." Sookie mumbled, glancing at the house and her stuff on the door step. Merlotte looked over in the direction she was looking at and opened his big mouth again.

"What the fuck? Why's all your stuff out side the front door?"

"Because she is staying with me." I tell him.

"Over my dead body." Was Merlotte's response. I growled at him in warning, and n

"She doesn't know." Is all the dumb shit said.

"She is here, and SHE knows something is up. You can let go of me now Eric." She finished, though she sounded like she didn't really want me to let go of her; so I kept my arms around her.

"How are you going to get all your stuff to Shreveport... without a car?" Sam asked, crossing his arms. "You can stay with me, at least you'll be close to work and be able to go home, should you need too." Silence greeted his words.

"A lot has changed or is changing Sam. I don't know how much I can say but I'm staying with Eric. We'd all pretty much decided that already, whilst Adele was packing my things." She tells him, I noticed he raised his eyebrows at the way Sookie spoke of the woman.

"Adele? Really Sookie... I've never known you to call her by her first name. Surly shit can't be that bad? And how the fuck do you know Northman? Who was that other bloke?" He fired.

"As I said earlier it's a touchy subject Sam Merlotte." She had a little bit of an annoyed tone added in, and she'd some how got even closer to my body, her arms around my waist, her head resting against my chest. I smirked at Merlotte who was watching the whole thing, knowing it would piss him off.

"Fine. Will you be in tomorrow night?" He asked her.

"Yes I will still be doing my shifts, Sam." She sighed. "I just need time away from this house and find out who I am." He raised his eyebrows upon hearing this, and I shook my head. But of course he ignored it the stupid twat. What is wrong with people these days?

"What's changed? You have always been Sookie Stackhouse and one of my best waitresses."

"You don't have to tell him Sookie." I tell her. Glaring at the mutt, he's pushing his luck! She placed her hands on my chests, and leans back, I loosen my grip so she can step backwards, and turned to face him fully. I kept my glare pinned on him, and I was happy to see him shift a little.

"It turns out I am not who I thought I was Sam. I am not sure what I am aloud to say..." She turned to look at me. I shook my head. I was pretty sure Brigant didn't want a shifter to know all of his secrets.

"What's this asshole's involvement?" He asked, nodding his head in my direction. I narrowed my eyes at him, he's pushing his fucking luck.

"None of your fucking business."

A little sneaky hint... I may or may not have the next chapter written and ready to be posted!
Hope you are all okay out there :)
