Prologue
"Please. Let me go! Please."
The air was filled with screams. Screams of agony, fear and a tinge of anger.
They say that one's life passes through their minds when they are on the verge of death. Maybe it was true. Maybe it wasn't. But all he knew was he was going to die.
He would miss her. His love. They didn't have much time together. But, even the brief time they had was filled with happiness and excitement. He wished he would never have to leave her. He couldn't imagine how she would live without him. He hoped she would move on. Live the life she deserves with someone who loved her at least as half as he had.
But, no. He wouldn't give up without a fight. If there was even the slightest chance of him leaving here alive he wouldn't waste it. As he struggled, the hold on him increased in strength. It was tight. So tight that he couldn't even breathe. Then slowly the creature holding him lowered its mouth to his neck, tearing open the flesh and sucking the blood that was pooling there.
PAIN. Like he had never felt before.
FIRE. Coursing through his veins making him lose all thought except for the pure, unadulterated torment caused by the monster holding him.
He wished it was one of the horror movie induced nightmare that his love so often had. He wished he would be woken up from this nightmare by his love whispering soothing words in his ear. He wished he was a little boy whose mother could chase away the monsters under the bed. He wished he could tell them that he loved them. He wished—
But, no. Fate had other plans. He was giving up. Losing the battle raging inside him. Losing all senses of consciousness. Maybe, just maybe it would be easier to grasp the darkness that was so within his reach. And it was. So he did.
Would love to hear what you think. Next chapter we would hear from 'his love'.
