A Perfected Soul
AN: Ok, so, yesterday I was watching DeModcracy's ranking of the Demon's Souls remake's bosses, and finally decided that I must play Demon's souls. But, since PS5s are pretty much sold out on Amazon and around the area I'm at, I'm stuck with buying the PS3 version, which I did, but am now waiting on it to arrive.
Anyways, upon watching the Old King Allant cutscene during that video, this idea came into my head, and it was the spark I was needing for a story idea I had. For a while, I've been wanting to do my own RWBY/Soulsborne crossover, but all my ideas fell a bit flat. But that cutscene, it fostered a new idea: one that I am liking so far, and should keep me invested in it.
I'll explain more about it at the end of this one shot, so I hope you all stay with me until the end. Know that I haven't played Demon's souls yet, so I'm not familiar with it, but I have watched some lore videos on YouTube, so I tried to make this work for the story.
Disclaimer: You know it, and I know it, but I don't own Demon's Souls or RWBY.
Allant the XII hummed as the sound of footsteps rang in his ears. His hearing, though aged, could easily make out the sound of chain clinking across leather and the clanging of metal boots.
"So," he rumbled, an old baritone befitting of a king, "you have finally made it here."
No words answered his query. But he anticipated as much. Across his time stained face, a malignant smile bloomed. "Welcome. It has been some time since my last visitor," he called out. He chuckled at this. His guest had not stopped.
The false king continued, "I have watched your progress for some time." He stared down at the cesspool that was once his kingdom and sneered. "Most your age would have gone mad just by suffering death the first instance.
"It is to be expected. Not many are equipped to deal with their own mortality, even in men and women twice your age. The fact that one false move could be their last. That one misstep, and the end has come for them. But the burden of dying more than once? Hmhmhm…it is, simply, too much for most to take.
"However, you, have not." He stared up at the foggy sky. "You endured. Death didn't break you. It resolved you. Strengthened your will to press forward. I must admit, I have not come across a soul like yours in quite some time."
The interloper's pace slowed. The false Allant simply stood and shrugged off his cloak. "And your soul itself," he spoke further as he stared one more time at what remained of his decrepit kingdom. "To be able to fight using one's soul as a shield as you do, and to manifest an innate power from it…Well, you can appreciate my interest, can you not?"
He chuckled and turned to face his opponent. There she was, young but determined, wearing the armor of his executioner, save for the mask as she walked forward. He smiled at her.
"And then you began to feed it," he told her. "Making it strong. Furthering its powers." She stopped in the center of the room. "And then you learned the Soul Arts. Such a magnificent combination they make with your abilities! You evolved them! Making new skills, the likes of which I, nor anyone else, has ever seen!"
She just stood there, glaring his way. Allant laughed out loud as he grabbed his sword. He held it level with her face as he spoke once again.
"That is why, child, I've been waiting for this moment! Sent so many adversaries your way! Now, the fruits of my labor have paid off!
"Your soul, it is the most perfect soul I've ever come across! With it, my power will be absolute! With its power, I can bring countless souls to the Old One!" Wind picked up around him, catching the girl's red cloak and making it billow around her.
Allant the XII stared into the impossibly silver eyes of his opponent and grinned savagely. "Come! Show me the power of your perfect soul! Clash blades with me, Ruby Rose! Slayer of Demons! Show me the power that has brought you this far!"
Ruby merely responded by grabbing a metal contraption from behind her. With a flick of her dainty wrists, it unfolded into a massive great sword, its magnificent silver blade began glowing red with heat. She hoisted the blade level to her opponent in challenge.
With barely a whisper, but with clear steel in her voice, she, finally, responded:
"Come and take it…if you can."
An: [Bit of a spoiler here, so here's your warning] Yes. I'm aware the Old King Allant is a construct made by the real one thanks to the lore videos I watched, but I thought it'd be interesting if the real King Allant could control it in some fashion.
As you saw, Ruby is the Slayer of Demons, and Crescent Rose seems to have some upgrades! That is what created my new idea: have the individual members of RWBY end up in one of the four From Software Soulsborne games of Dark Souls, Demon's souls, Bloodborne, and Sekiro! And Ruby is in Demon's souls! I plan on making three more for the other three RWBY members, showing them in one of the others From Software games. Who goes where? Please consider sticking around to find out!
This is going to span an idea that I'll be working on for a while. I'm in the process of beating Dark Souls one (currently stuck on O&S), Bloodborne I can't complete yet until I get my dang Wi-Fi fixed since I can't play it without being logged into my PS account because of the DLC, Sekiro I need to get good at parrying (I suck bad), and of course Demon's Souls is ordered and on the way.
But with that, the first Demon's Souls/RWBY crossover is done! Please tell me what you think of it!
