Midoriko got plenty of offerings from the villagers, but there were some things she had to buy for herself, particularly herbs and spices for certain foods and potions.

"Kenshin come quick!" Midoriko said. "They have new sushi to try here!"

"Certainly," Kenshin said. "I will be right th—"

A ten year old boy banged into the two of them. "Sorry. Sorry."

He was off again.

Kenshin caught him by the scruff the neck. "I think you'll have to return that wallet you took."

"How did you—" the boy said.

Kenshin took the wallet and handed it to Midoriko. "It was not that hard to see, that it was."

After leading the boy, Yahiko, to the shrine; they were all seated eating sushi while Kenshin and Yahiko spoke.

"My father fought on the human side of the war." Yusuke said. "Mother too—she was a priestess, like your Midoriko."

"And you?" Kenshin said.

"I have the spiritual power of my mom." Yahiko said. "And the fighting spirit of my dad."

"So you want to protect humans from errant demons, huh?" Midoriko said.

"That's right. I came to learn from the Legendary Battousai." Yusuke said. "If I can beat him then—"

"I will not fight you." Kenshin said. "I apologize. If you will excuse me."

Kenshin headed to take his bath.

"Don't mind him." Midoriko said. "You'll get your fight, Yahiko, when your a bit older I'll get him to fight you I promise. In the meantime, I can train you."

"Hmm...Training with a powerful priestess..." Yahiko said. "You aren't bad to look at either."

Yahiko eyed her up and down.

Midoriko rolled her eyes and hit him on the head.

"Right, little samurai." Midoriko said. "First lesson. Be respectful."
