Found out about a nearby hospital, Medford Memorial, going to head over and see if anything is still there worth salvaging. Going to take Kyle with me. The girls have other things to do today so I will leave them to it.
Place was a dump, clearly, people have fought over the place based on the state of the lobby. Seemed empty though and most of the doors haven't even been opened in a very long time. Aside from some bugs that are far bigger than they have any right to be we haven't found much to concern ourselves with.
Found a pair of first aid kits in near perfect condition in a sealed crate. Just basic medical stuff but still full sets. Found a small box of Stimpaks as well, outside of it is in rough shape but the inside looks pretty clean and undamaged. Kyle found some more things like a full surgery kit, looks worn and old but serviceable. All things considered, this was a good find, far too much to take everything. I will have to come back later for more.
I've been writing these logs in the lobby while Kyle blocks up the doors when we heard a noise from the operating theatre. Haven't looked in that part of the building yet. We snuck in quietly and took a look. The place looked like it hadn't changed since the bombs fell beyond some damage from aging. No bodies anywhere either unlike the rest of the building. In fact, it was the only part locked with a digital lock instead of being jammed or a regular lock. Turns out a pair of Mr. Handies are still working this section of the building and have been cleaning it. Found about a dozen skeletons in the custodial closet where they have been slowly burning them via the facility incinerator. The fact that any of this stuff works is a true testament to RobCo.
Couldn't open the operation theatre doors due to a lock placed on it because of an in-progress surgery. Kyle and I decided to check the observation deck instead. As expected it was unlocked and we were able to get it. I don't really know what I had been expecting but it was not a Mrs. Nanny doing lab experiments and about a dozen skeletons around the room.
I tried to use the intercom but it was locked out and ended up knocking on the glass. Mrs. Nanny was actually surprised by our presence and came over to us. She asked me if I was planning to let her out as the operation was completed over 200 years ago and she was running low on materials to work with for her experiments. I told her I didn't know how to let her out and she told me all I had to do was give her permission to leave as I was her superior. I asked her to clarify and she informed me that as a Major in the US army and the most superior Enclave representative present I carried the authority to announce the procedure complete. I corrected her on that as I am only a lieutenant, not a major, and I have never heard of the Enclave. She told me that according to her records I was a major as of 09/27/2072 and that all records on the Enclave are either sealed or encrypted and that I don't have the authority to unlock them.
Honestly, though I didn't care much at the moment. A Mrs. Nanny that is functioning is a very useful tool to have. I gave the order and she opened the door to the theatre and agreed to come back with me. Turns out she is a custom Mrs. Nanny specifically a Contagions Vulnerability Robotic Infirmary Engineer and refers to itself as Curie. So apparently it's a specialized model with a built-in level of freewill which is why it had been working on experiments in the theatre while waiting for someone to let her out. Now that we have talked in person… I don't like her voice… It reminds me of someone, someone from before the bombs…

We got back early this morning with the robot. D**n thing wouldn't shut up the whole way back. Constantly asking about everything we passed, even tried to dissect one of the bloodbugs laying dead on the side of the road. I swear it's a good thing nothing all that dangerous was around.
Moment we got back she was all over Aubrey and Beth. Gave them both full diagnostics and is now conducting honest to God surgery on Aubrey's shoulder. Ali was at the outpost today, apparently, they had some upgrades or something she had to work on.
Don't know who did it but now there is a sign out front that reads "Welcome to the Kastle" I bet it was Bethany.

Curie "sat me down" and had a talk with me about the girls and her findings. Aubrey should heal up in a few weeks from the shoulder wound. The problem had been poor bandaging and Aubrey had apparently been pulling it open by mistake so it wouldn't heal correctly. She has a proper sling now and won't be able to move it for a while. Another problem was that Aubrey was suffering from severe withdrawal which is why she was sick all the time. According to Curie Aubrey had a med-x addiction she never told me about. Explains why med-x helped so much I guess. The robot apparently has a treatment plan to help with that.
Bethany on the other hand was a different story, and I was right! Beth is quite fertile, in fact, she is having f**king twins! Curie has informed me that Beth's insistence of the contrary is bizarre as nothing indicates she would be infertile at all. Also, something something bowel issues, don't feel like explaining that all that needs to be said is she needs some antibiotics and will be fine.

Ali asked me if I was planning to let Curie look at my eyes today. I haven't really thought about it all things considered. I ended up asking and she said she could but needed some supplies and a cleaner workspace or she could end up causing more damage. The bot was even surprised I had asked and thought my eyes were perfectly normal! Seriously she is the dumbest smart thing I have ever met. Was talking to the cow earlier even.

Started work on the kitchen area. We've been using it for a while as the "kitchen" but that amounted to a barrel with a grate over it and a hotplate. I decided to start cleaning it up so we can start using the space more efficiently. Pulled out the old damaged shelves in the cabinet and threw out the fridge door. I'm thinking about digging through the ruins over the next couple days to see about finding a new fridge. Will need some work and recharging will most likely be needed but even just the insulation is useful. The stove itself actually looks repairable which is nice. I thought it was a half gas half electric deal but it turns out the oven is also electric. Going to see if I can get Beth to work on cleaning it up for me when she is done with the garden.
Kyle is switching out the wood in the kiln. Glad we set that up, instead of waiting half a year for usable wood we can get about two dozen planks every month or so. Kyle says he intends to replace the junk wood we used for patching holes first and use that stuff for some other project of his.
Aubrey is bricking up most of the exterior windows now. I wasn't going to originally but we really don't need them and they are just a security issue. Slow going though as she has to use one arm. She's been whining about it all day.

Curie conducted a physical on Kyle and me. Concluded that Kyle needs to reduce his sodium intake and drink more water but other than that he apparently is fine. Said I needed to eat more and I am actually a little underweight. I hadn't realized how many meals I have been skipping for the last few months.
Ali showed up with a couple of the minutemen a little before noon. Apparently, they were looking for work and had asked if I needed help with anything. Offered them 20 caps each and sent them to Kyle to help with the fence. I bet he'll appreciate the help.
Got the kitchen cleaned out… sorta. Still covered in dirt but it's swept and all the broken stuff is gone. Pulled a table out of the front yard and got Ali working on cleaning it up. She's using a rock to sand it off, I mean whatever works not like we have any sandpaper sitting around. Before the minutemen left I asked them to give a message to Captain Garcia requesting assistance from him for the following Thursday. They said they could pass it on.

I was going to write what happened today but f**k it, my eyes hurt too much for this.
Ali Kast isn't in a great mood so I decided to update her journal for her. So I got the table clean off, ordered some paint for it while I was at the outpost today. Should be here later. Kyle started working on some sort of wall fence in the front, something about a protected space so we don't get shot by someone walking out the front door. Makes sense to me. Bethany is in the garden trying to design a better layout so she could maximize the space. I suggested we plant some stuff outside during the spring and summer periods so that we can get a surplus. Apparently, no one considered this idea and now Bethany is pouting over her self accusation of stupidity. I hope she gets over it but she has been an emotional wreck for a while. Also, it turns out she's pregnant! Like no one told me this! Seriously guys what the heck? I guess I should try to get to know them better. I mean I've been here a while and so far the most I know is Aubrey is friendly but always seems sick, Kyle jumps from macho can do guy to doofus who trips over his own feet, Bethany is overly expressive but usually fun to talk to, the robot is strange and keeps asking weird questions and seems rather lost, and Kast is… scary. Always so quiet, not all that chatty either. It's not that she won't talk to me or anyone, she just doesn't say much… she also walks… like unless you watch her approach you will never hear her coming, and considering her response to startling people she doesn't appear to do it on purpose… and those eyes…

Garcia sent over 6 minutemen today. Glad he sent them over though I am happier he sent so many. Going to help a lot more. My plan is to have them watch over Kyle, Ali, and I as we go into Lexington to do some scavenging figured that we can go in a bit louder and take down as many of the ghouls as we can while we are at it. Nate wants me to do it so I might as well.
The sergeant in charge of the squad has a flare gun along with Ali. Supposed to allow us to call for help from the outpost if we run into anything we can't handle. They each have 3 types of flare: blue for medical support, red for backup, and one black which calls for an artillery strike on our position. The last one is a suicide option if we get overwhelmed by something. I really don't want to know what made them decide they needed it as standard kit.
Found a couple nice chairs in town. They were in surprisingly good condition, though they were found in a strange situation. They were set up around a table with teddy bears wearing small black robes sitting in them while two other teddy bears were on the table in… suggestive positions while a ninth one stood over them with a kitchen knife sewn onto the arm. We decided to not touch the table.
Killed at least a hundred of the d**n ghouls. According to the minutemen, there could be almost thirty thousand of the things in the ruins if all the previous residents turned. I doubt the numbers since there are enough skeletons to indicate most didn't turn into the things. Two of the minutemen started keeping a tally though by counting each skull or ghoul we found and marking them. I guess that works.

Trader came by again, got some seeds from them. They ran by a farm on the way here and decided to grab some hoping I would take them. At first, I just took what we didn't already have but Beth found out and demanded we take the lot. Also grabbed a revolver, don't recognize the make but it shoots .32's, and a semi-auto Gewehr. Figured having enough guns for everyone to be armed would be nice. I almost got one for Ali as well but she informed me she had a gun already and showed me a Springfield 1910 model bolt action rifle. I had no idea she had the thing, apparently, it was either that or the laser musket for support personnel and she had it when she moved in and just kept it in her room the whole time. So instead I bought some more ammo and nails. I also got some other things we needed while they were here like more copper wire. Ali got some books, Beth found some tools she needed for something, and Aubrey got herself another f**king broken computer.
Finally got the growing scrap pile reduced by a decent amount. The caravan apparently gets a good chunk of profits for scrap with some of their inner-city contacts and now have a new one outside of Boston they established to better benefit from what I have here in Lexington. So they intend to take more on their way back through and requested a shopping list from me. I was more than happy to provide one, saves me a trip from going into the city.

Nora came by today with a small army of Minutemen. I swear there were about 300 of them fully kitted out in blue uniforms and rifles, many even had proper armor. Turns out it was High General Preston's personal army, the 201st mechanized rifles. I was confused by this at first but it turns out they had three APCs at the outpost which carried the power-armored members of the unit. Nora though was just tagging along to come talk to me about the Corvega plant and the outpost. The part about the outpost was a formal arrangement where they would pay a fee for the continued usage of the property. They offered me 1200 caps a month for it. Apparently, they wanted to make it clear that they recognized others' property and were not an invading force… even though they kinda gave me the city but whatever. The other part was that they wanted to use the Corvega plant and wished to also rent it from me once it was cleared and operational again. They would complete the clearing part and the restoration and that would cover the rent in the meantime and after that, we would discuss the rental fee but for now, it would be another 2000 a month. I agreed to both after making a few changes to the contract she provided me after which she left to return back to the Castle. She made a comment about the sign referring to my settlement as the Kastle was funny to her on the way out.
I swear people just want to make me more and more important every day don't they.

Starting to get warmer out. Been thinking about what I will do about hot weather lately, we've only been worried about the cold the past few months so nothing is in place for that. I looked at the furnace ducts and we can run it without the heating element to at least keep airflow up but it has no cooling function. I thought this place was supposed to be some kinda retirement home yet it doesn't appear to have ever had a means of cooling beyond fans. God, it must have sucked to live here.
06/05/2287
Bethany and Kyle are mad at each other. Got into some sort of fight over something, won't talk to me about it though. Aubrey isn't sure what is going on either. In the meantime, I am trying to keep them working on things separately until they cool off. I'm pretty sure it is just stress and they will move past it though.
Ali has been questioning the robot all day about the old world. Actually quite funny to listen to the innocent ignorance Curie's answers are filled with and the growing confusion crossing Alisson's face on life before the war. I will have to talk to Ali about it sometime though to correct some of Curie's answers.

Been a while since I updated my journal. Been rather busy with things around the homestead, several things started breaking all at once for whatever reason. Furnace suddenly gave out, purifier stopped running, and half the lights in the building won't turn on to list a few. Furnace blew a fuse according to Aubrey, not sure if we have one of the correct size sitting around though… not a huge deal though we don't really need it right now and can make do without for a little bit, but I would rather fix it sooner rather than later. Lights are probably a broken or bad wire and Ali is looking into that. Kyle and I have been looking at the purifier and we think the heating element might be FUBAR. Gonna have to make a new one.
Beth and Kyle are still b**ching about something at night. Still not sure what is going on, they always clam up when anyone tries to talk to them about it. At least it has cooled off a little bit and they are shouting at each other, which makes it easier to ignore.
06/13/2287
Minutemen have been raising hell at the plant all day. Supposedly started on a fence or wall around the place to keep out the ghouls, clearly though they attracted a horde or two in the process. Means less for me to deal with.
Aubrey and Ali had an idea to post a sign outside saying "5 caps for every ghoul head brought from Lexington" out front. I have mixed feelings about the idea but they think it will lead to travelers potentially killing one or two of the things on the way through. I figured it doesn't matter much, if someone takes up the opportunity that's great if not it doesn't affect me much.
06/17/2287
Kyle suggested restoring the houses and shacks across the street and potentially renting them out. He was thinking that by doing so we could get some more able hands and potentially have a proper farm set up while not handicapping ourselves. I made a show of resisting the idea but in truth, I was thinking the same thing he was. It would help a bit and I won't need to keep everyone pulled in a dozen different directions all the time and it would bring in more money. Not to mention maybe get more traders coming through… Lexington really isn't a popular area due to the infestation… I really should put more time into working on that.
06/17/2287
Almost killed someone today… so it turns out that ghouls can be… well… not mindless creatures that just want to eat your face off. They can be perfectly sane minutemen who sound like they smoke too much. According to everyone, this isn't entirely uncommon and many are even as old if not older than myself! Poor guy was scared half to death when I jumped him… all he wanted was to collect payment for a couple heads he collected. I actually feel bad about it, but seriously how have I never noticed them before? Ali says that roughly 10% of the outpost is staffed by them and several actually live at Bunker Hill! I just can't even today, I'm going to bed and gonna take a nap.
