Chapter 4: Wrath Of The Gyarados

LOCATION: Johto Region; April 11th, 1998

Oshawott and Tepig found themselves outside a very small town. There was three paths leading out of it. And it took Oshawott a minute to come to, as the ride that got them there was very... nauseating to say the least. He picked himself up and took notice of the town. Like any reasonable Pokemon that needed to know there directions, he read the center sign.

MAHOGANY TOWN

Mahogany town? I have no idea where this is even located at. What region could this be? His thoughts were interrupted by grunting noises behind him. It was indeed his friend, Tepig, who had his head stuck in the dirt. Oshawott simply rolled his eyes. Why must this be such a hassle

"Don't worry Tepig. I got you." Oshawott pulled his legs to help unbury Tepig's face. "You okay?"

Tepig spat out a bunch of dirt. "Other than having a face full of dirt, i'm fine i guess. That was quite a ride though."

"Yeah you're telling me. Apparently we landed in a place called 'Mahogany town.'

Tepig closed his eyes to think for a minute. "I think I heard Snivy talk about this place. We must be in the Johto region."

Oshawott shrugged. "Guess that makes sense." Snivy has always had a thing for geology. She knew what a lot of the regions looked like, somehow. Tepig and Oshawott actually had no idea how she really knows about this reigon, but they don't really question it. Oshawott always thought she was smart.

So now came the question; how to find Snivy? She could be in this town. Or she could of wandered off in search of food and whatnot. But what direction could she of taken. Going west seemed to be multiple bodies of water. Going right lead to a giant mountainous area. But going north appeared to be a giant lake. Oshawott knew Snivy fairly well, and he knew Snivy didn't like the cold. So her going to the mountains seemed not like her. If anything, north would probably be the best decision. After all, a massive forest surrounded the lake. Perhaps she went to go pick berries? Either way, it was a gut feeling of his and decided to go north.

"Tepig. We're heading north." Oshawott declared.

"Wait. What makes you the leader. Why do you get to make the calls? I'd say we stay in the town and see if she's here."

"I wouldn't be so sure if she would stay here. Knowing Snivy, she probably went north. And if she's not anywhere near the lake, then we head back to this town."

Sighing in defeat, Tepig agreed. "Oh alright. But I won't be surprised if Snivy isn't up there." As much as Tepig didn't want to admit it, Oshawott did have reason to go north. I mean, the motives are very slim. It's not like they had a Snivy compass on them to help with this task.

Oshawott was still feeling bad about what happened as they started walking up the path. He felt like he had a good friendship built up with Snivy. But now can she forgive him? If they do find her, will she be pleased to see him, or ticked off at him for pushing her through a void of time? He just hopes he can make this up to her. The last thing he wants is to never see Snivy again.

After a 10 minute walk (give or take) they saw a massive lake. A lake that stretched on for a good distance. Possibly the size of a football field. There was also a sign in front of this lake.

Oshawott read it outloud. "The Lake Of Rage. But what's so 'rage' about it. It looks pretty tame to me." A group of Magikarp swam to the surface. "See." He points to the very friendly Magikarp that were making little splashes in the water.

Tepig shook his head. "Yeah sure. Whatever." He then notices some bubbles coming out of the water near them. "Uh. Oshawott? What's causing that."

Oshawott squinted and noticed the bubbles too. "Something is coming out of the water." He was indeed correct. It was a huge Pokemon taking the form of a snake. The Oshawott and now trembling Tepig identified it as a Gyarados. The wild Gyarados eyed the two Pokemon.

"ARE YOU TWO INTERACTING WITH MY THREE KIDS!"

Tepig was still trembling but Oshawott managed to speak. "Well... Uh. You see..."

The Gyarados cut him off. "ENOUGH CHAT. I'M GOING TO TAKE YOU DOWN. HYDRO CANNON!"

Oshawott and Tepig ran behind a tree to take cover. While Oshawott can endure a few water attacks, Tepig would surely be a goner. Sure, they had some training. But not to the level to endure powerful attacks from a Gyarados. It would make sense that Tepig would be a little scared.

"I told you not to head north!" Tepig said out of breath. "Now we might be passed the point of death!"

"Get a hold of yourself! We can take him. Just try to fight to the best of your abilities. After all, it's a two versus one." Oshawott said calming him. He looked at the Gyarados and he was on recharge. Meaning they still have some time.

Tepig then put on a determined expression on. "Alright Oshawott. Let's do it!"

They ran near the shoreline of the lake, prepping for combat. The Gyarados was ready for another attack. "DRAGON RUSH!"

Oshawott jumped swiftly over it and stuck his scalchop in a nearby tree, he then jumped off that tree, wielding his scalchop for a razor shell. He managed to get a good hit right in the middle of the Gyarados' tail. He then dived underwater to try to dodge its next attack.

Meanwhile, Tepig tried to distract the Gyarados. "Take this! Flame charge!" He curled up in a fire ball and rammed into the Gyarados, causing him to go slightly off balanced. The flame charge also helped boost his speed. "Try catching me now."

"THIS WILL BE EASY! EARTHQUAKE!" The attack just managed to get Tepig off balanced as he fell on the grass.

Oshawott was prepping a attack underwater. "Razor shell!" This one better count. His attack would of been stronger but he wasn't able to swing his arm under the water swiftly.

The Gyarados was not done with Tepig. "ALRIGHT. I HAD ENOUGH! HYPER BEAM!"

"Wait. WHAT!" Tepig tried to run and take cover behind a tree to dodge the powerful beam. Unfortunately, he got hit from the back. The shockwave of the impact made him flip a good distance away. "Ugh... That didn't feel good."

Oshawott resurfaced but was on guard. He saw that Tepig was not looking so good. "Oh no! You okay Tepig!?"

"I've seen better days... Oshawott, even though we got the numbers, There's no way we can handle this! This Gyarados is too strong. We need to retreat."

"But we have to battle for Snivy's sake. That's what she would want us to do. You know, if she was here."

"We don't even know where she is..." He started to clench his side to see if it'll subdude the pain.

The Gyarados however was not done yet. "WRAP!" He picked up the fire pig and the water otter with his tail. Then he started squeezing the two. "YOU'RE ABOUT TO SEE YOUR DEMISE WHEN YOU BECOME UNCONSIOUS AND RUN OUT OF BREATH!"

"Osha-oshawott..." Tepig said finding it hard to breathe. "I never wanted to go-o down this wa-a-ay."

"Sorry f-for letting you d-down." Oshawott's life was almost over. And there was nothing he could of done about it. The Gyarados was too strong for the two to handle. It would seem that all is lost. All they could do now was to wait for death.

...

"Leaf tornado!"

A giant barrage of leaves came crashing towards the Gyarados. Thus loosening his hold on the two very weakened Pokemon. Tepig and Oshawott were now found dropping on the shore of the lake gasping for air.

"Holy crap that was close!" Tepig said both amazed and in confusion. "Who even shot all those leaves at us?"

"I actually don't know..." Oshawott said looking up at the distracted Gyarados. "Wait. Is that..."

Standing on a tall branch was non other than Snivy. She had a couple of bruises, but nothing too major. "Hey guys! I figured you two would get into trouble. I'll talk as soon as a beat the crud out of this achilees eel.

"WHAT DID YOU CALL ME!?" The gyarados said charging another hyper beam.

"Leaf blade!" She formed a construct of a blade with leaves as she repeatedly hit him in the head. "I was doing trash talk. And people and Pokemon say you shouldn't pollute the water. Yet there's trash like you in the lake." She shot a vine whip at a branch and took cover in the tree.

"HOW DARE YOU TRASH TALK ME! HYDRO CANNON!"

Snivy nimbly jumped from the tree and prepared a leaf storm in the air. This will get him! The sharp points of the leaves stabbed his skin a little too much. He started to lose balance and fell into the massive lake of rage.

"NOOOOOO!"

With a massive splash, the Gyarados fell down and retreated back to his home underwater. Snivy jumped down from the tree she was on and confronted the two Pokemon.

"Okay, can someone explain why a Gyarados was attacking you two?"

Oshawott laughed nervously. "Well, you see, all we did was see these Magikarp on the shoreline. And this Gyarados showed up and thought we were threatening his kids even though we weren't."

Snivy shook her head. "Gyarados are rather protective of their children. You know, with Magikarp being weak and everything."

Tepig was still confused that Snivy showed up out of nowhere. "And where did you come from? Not that i'm complaining cause you save our lives. Thanks for that by the way."

Snivy waved it off. "Eh. No biggie. After I appeared in the johto region, I saw a town map in the Pokemon center. It there was a giant lake north of it. I thought it would serve as proper training as I would think of how to return to the present. I got into a fight with a stantler, but then I heard your voices. so I had to wrap up my fight quickly."

They both understood. But Oshawott was still feeling down about accidently pushing his friend into this crazy mess. He decided he needed to apologize.

"Hey Snivy?" The grass snake turned towards the Otter. "I'm sorry that I pushed you down through that void. I thought i was helping you by pushing you out of the way of the tree, but it caused a lot more harm when i saw you fall."

Snivy slightly sighed. "It's okay Osh. It wasn't your fault. It was a honest accident." Oshawott slightly blushed at that nickname she gave him. He's never had a nickname before. So it was kind of a big deal to him. "But now that all three of us are here, we need to formulate a plan. How do we get back to Unova. "Snivy's philosophy was always 'have a plan' because it's better to do things prepared.

While the trio was contemplating their decisions a portal opened above them.

Snivy squinted at it. What the heck? Very vaguely you could hear screams from the inside of it, Until a Celebi dropped holding a red and black pokeball with a small stopwatch on it.

"Man, that was quite the fall! I hope i lost those two."

As if on que, two men with black pants, boots and shirts appeared, one wearing a hoodie. There was a "V" on the back of the shirts. And it was none other than Zek and Silas. They both were chasing the Celebi, in pursuit of the Pokeball she was holding.

"After her!" Zek said.

Silas threw out a pokeball. "Go Jolteon! Quickly use quick attack on the Celebi!" The Jolteon sped at such a fast speed. This one appeared to be much quicker than the average Jolteon.

"I'm about to get you, ya squirt!"

"Please! Don't!" She said out of breathe. "The fate of the world is in my hands!"

"Does it look like I care! I follow my masters orders!" He caught up with the Celebi and tackled her, thus releasing the strange pokeball. He picked up the poke ball in his mouth and returned to his master.

Silas grabbed the pokeball. "Your mission has been complete." He returned the hateful Jolteon. "Zek. We have Dialga recovered! All we need is Palkia."

Zek held up a scanner and scanned the area. "It appears Palkia isn't here. We need to find it before that blasted Celebi does." Also, as if on cue, a portal opened up behind them. "Well that was convenient." Zek stepped through with Silas following closely behind him.

The 3 Unova Pokemon were stunned by what happened. But they knew what they need to do. To check on the Celebi. Oshawott poked her on the head a couple times. "Hey Celebi. Remember me. We encountered each other a day ago."

Tepig immediately intervened. "Wait, time out! This is Celebi?" Oshawott nodded. "So that story you told us about that encounter was true?" Oshawott nodded again. With Tepig now feeling like a jerk for not believing Oshawott. "Sorry for not believing you. But you have to admit, your story sounded crazy."

Oshawott waved it off. "Eh. It's ain't a big deal. But what matters now is this Celebi's health."

Snivy saw a sitrus berry bush. "This will help her." She picked a couple of berries and tried to feed it to the Celebi. "You feeling better?" She asked with a more concerned tone.

It took her a minute but Celebi eventually felt conscious again. "Ugh. My head... It's actually in pain." She took a good look at the 3 Pokemon. "So, you 3 helped me out?" They all nodded. "Well... Thanks! I owe you one!"

Tepig decided to lead the conversation. "You're a time traveler. Right?" Celebi nodded. "So prove it! Not saying that you're a liar. But i just want to make sure."

Celebi floated above the lake. "You want proof? Ok!" She giggled and opened a portal above the lake. It took a minute for anything to happen, but soon a red Gyarados appeared and fell into the lake. "Ta-da! A shiny Gyarados. I brought this shiny from a Pokemon war that happened roughly 3,000 years ago. And the fact that it's shiny is super special. To the point that whoever shows up to this lake will be glad that this is here and in no way is like 'wow this is predictable' because no one would say that." She began to giggle again.

Snivy and Oshawott sweatdropped at her comment. Tepig however was in awe. "Wow... That is so amazing! Does that mean you also know what our futures will be like!?"

"Well Tepig. I am a time traveler, i see everything... Well, used to see everything. My powers haven't been serving the best recently. And I don't know what to do about it."

Snivy decided to speak up. "If I may interject, who were those two humans."

Celebi once again held her hand up to her face. "I'm not sure but I think their names were Zek and Silas. I don't have all the details but they have Dialga and Palkia captured. In a very strange pokeball no less! And I need to save them. Otherwise the world could be at risk."

Oshawott tilted his head in confusion. "What do you mean?"

"Dialga... He's the ruler of time and also gave me the powers to time travel. And Palkia... He's the ruler of space and allows existence. Both took part in creating the world. But combining their powers gives anyone the ability to reset the timeline back to it's very beginning. That's why I need to stop them. To prevent this situation from getting out of hand."

The trio understood completely, while also getting chills down their spine. Two mad men are set on resetting everything. And it was all up to a lone Celebi. Oshawott knew that she couldn't handle it on her own. "Celebi..." She looked up at the otter. "I would like to join your fight." This surprised Tepig and Snivy by quite a bit.

Snivy put a hand on her shoulder, causing him to blush a bit. "Osh, are you sure about this? This sounds like a really dangerous task." She wasn't sure if Oshawott could handle such a fight like that.

"Snivy listen... It's still my fault that the 3 of us ended up in this region. I need a way to make things right. Afterall, we could get special training to take on Zek and Silas."

Celebi was in awe. "Wow... I never had anyone willing to put their lives at risk just to help me..."

Tepig stepped up as well. "That Gyarados me and Oshawott fought against owned me. Training would be useful for later situations.

Snivy stepped forward as well. "I too would like to help you. After briefly thinking about it, I would like to help our newfound friend on her adventure through time."

Celebi quietly gasped. No one has ever really called her a 'friend' before. It was a weird feeling. A strange mix of happiness and surprise. "Thank you... To all 3 of you. I don't know what to say."

Oshawott put his hand on her shoulder. "We saw that Jolteon take you on. You need some support. So count us in!"

Celebi began to float and 'pace' back and forth. "Ok so in order to track down these guys, I need to sense Dialga's presence." She began to meditate for a bit. Until she caught his presence in the future. "Ok guys. We are heading to the future next."

Tepig was very excited to hear this. "Oh cool! Will there be flying cars!? Or space food!?"

Celebi giggled at his child like attitude. "No... It's not that far silly head!" She began to concentrate. "Hold on guys. Let me try to spawn a portal." It took her a second but a blue light flowed around her. Then the light formed the shape of a portal in front of her. It still had a spiral effect going through it. "Alright guys. hop in!"

Tepig went in first followed by Snivy and then Oshawott, with Oshawott looking at Celebi one last time.

"Thanks for accepting our help."

Celebi smiled brightly. "No. Thanks to you guys for helping out with saving the world."

After Celebi entered the portal, the light died out. As if nothing was there to begin with.
