"Jay!" You shouted while banging on his hotel door. "Jay! Hurry up before you're late to this radio interview! Come on!" The hotel door finally swung open, revealing your shirtless best friend and employer.

"Did you over sleep again?!" You scolded with your arms folded infant of your chest as he threw his shirt over his head and adjusted it over his rock hard abs.

"No! Why would you say that?!" He rushed to put on his shoes and grabbed a granola bar from the welcome basket delivered by the hotel. You shook your head and giggled to yourself. Jay let the hotel door slam behind him after grabbing the last of his things from the room.

"Ah shit!" He yelled.

"What?!"

"I forgot my hotel key inside the room!" Jay threw his arms up in disbelief and threw his head back.

"I was afraid that would happen. But, luckily, as your lovely assistant and best friend, I know you well enough to have your extra hotel key just in case. Now, let's go!" You both piled in to the elevator and headed for the black SUV waiting for you outside.

Jay stuffed the granola bar into his mouth and downed a half filled water bottle from the room.

"Can we stop at McDonald's?!" He begged.

"We don't have time Jay. Maybe if you had been up earlier we could've made some time for it. But, if you're on your best behavior, we can get you something on the way to rehearsals after the interview."

"Thanks MOM." Jay annoyingly teased. You rolled your eyes in response and kept an eye on the ticking time.

You had been Jay's assistant for about 2 years, but his best friend since forever. Practically since you were kids in diapers. He heard you needed a job after having no luck in finding employment once the company you had worked with for over 8 years suddenly shut down and fired all of their employees. You were thankful to Jay, but knew that your employment stood in the way of your honest feelings for him. You had a crush on Jay ever since you could remember, but once more girls started loading on to the band wagon, you pushed your feelings to the side while he flirted with whoever he wanted and got into relationship after relationship with no success. Most of the girls he dated used him for his money and his fame, but each time, you were there as an ear for him to rant to.

Unbeknownst to Jay, you had been looking for other employment recently so that you could eventually remove yourself from the constant heartache of never being the one he would choose to fall for. It was for the best, but no hits had come through on the job hunting front just yet, so you kept the search to yourself.

The SUV pulled up to the radio station, and you hurried Jay inside.

"Sorry we're late! Traffic." You apologized, covering for Jay once again like you had always done.

The interview started right away and lasted for a little over an hour. You were always so impressed with how well Jay answered questions about his passion in music and even the more personal questions about the type of girls he was interested in. After the interview, it was always one of his customs to take pictures and selfies with the interview crew.

"He's great isn't he!?" You turned to your left to see the head executive of the station, Tom Wilson, casually walk up to you, grinning ear to ear about Jay's interview. You could tell he was impressed.

"Always! He never ceases to amaze me during these interviews. I don't know how he does it." You responded, snapping a few behind the scenes pictures for social media and your tour scrapbook you were making as a surprise for Jay to commemorate the end of a successful tour after a few more performances in 4 more cities.

Tom started to pick your brain with questions about what it was like traveling on the road with Jay and the rest of the AOMG crew. You entertained his questions but started to notice another conversation happening from the corner of your eye. Jay had been standing in the same spot with his same flirty movements you had seen before while he talked to a girl you didn't recognize as being part of the radio station's main faces.

You excused yourself from the conversation with Tom to nudge Jay and remind him about needing to leave for rehearsals.

"Oh, right. Ummm, Trina, this is my assistant, Y/N. " You nodded and gave a half-assed smile to the girl. There was nothing overly special about her. Just the same kind of floozey Jay would typically hit on. She was a pretty girl and totally his type, but, you figured this would end in the same type of way as all the others:

Jay meets girl, Jay takes girl out to dinner, Jay invites girl backstage to a show while he's in town, he takes them out to the club after the concert, and then, out of nowhere, he's done with them.

Jay never slept with any of the girls he would have a quick fling with, and for some reason, that made you feel a bit better about your fantasy relationship with him.

"Well, it was nice to meet you Trina, but we've really got to get going before we're even more late than we already are." You grabbed Jay by his forearm and pulled him back downstairs and to the car.

"Geez, Y/N. Could you be any more of a freaking cock block? That girl was hot." Jay looked down at his phone as he scrolled through his social media.

"Not my fault you're busy man, Jay. Did you get her number at least?" You could see a grin developing on his face and knew the answer already.

The next morning was the final rehearsal before the show that night. You went to every rehearsal as an extra set of eyes for any changes or suggestions for the team before everything was finalized. The dancers sat spread out along the floor and were stretching before getting started.

Jay casually strolled through the doors of the rehearsal space 15 minutes early, and you were surprised by his prompt arrival. But he wasn't alone. Walking in behind him was Trina who Jay had made no more mentions of the night before, so you figured things had probably fizzled out earlier than you expected. You soon realized that you were wrong. Jay had NEVER brought a girl to rehearsals before, so you were just as shocked as everyone else when he introduced her to the room.

Jay led Trina over by where you were sitting and set his things down beside.

"Y/N, do you mind if Trina hangs with you for a little while?" Trina shyly sat next to you on the available chair.

"Sure, uh, I guess." You hesitantly responded, not really having much of a choice In the matter.

"There you go, baby girl." Jay spoke as he helped Trina remove her jacket.

"Baby girl?" You questioned with furrowed eyebrows. "Are you feeling okay, Jay?" This was out of the ordinary for these quick flings. What was going on with him?

Jay ignored you and went over to the dancers to begin rehearsals. Trina didn't speak to you at all and mostly sat on her phone. Jay constantly glanced over to where you both were seated to see if she was watching him, and you had to admit that you felt kind of bad that she wasn't paying attention.

"So," you finally broke the silence between you two,"what do you think of rehearsals so far?" You rested your chin in your open palm with your elbow propped up on the arm of the chair providing support.

"It's kind of long." Her response was dry like her split ends that you finally caught glimpse of up close. You decided to be nice despite her answer.

"Yeah, well, Jay is a perfectionist. Today won't be as long because tonight is the performance. Are you attending?"

"Only if I can get the perfect outfit. Jay said he was taking me shopping after this." Typical, you thought. Just another bimbo trying to use Jay once again.

"Trina, I've known Jay for a really long time now, and he's not like these dense guys out here who only care about what you look like or what you wear. I'm sure you have something decent at home that he would love. Besides, I'm sure you have a...great personality that's WAY more attractive to him than any outfit could be."

"Well, if you know so much about him and what he likes, then why aren't you dating him?" Her eyelashes fluttered following her burn of a question. But, she got you. And she got you good. Your mouth hung open as no response came out to even half way defend yourself and your pride. You turned to focus again on the rehearsal that had finally finished up.

"What'd ya think?" Jay's chipper tone was one you had never heard before. What was this girl doing to him?

"I think you all did great!" Trina's high pitched response was like nails on a chalkboard.

"Really? It looked like you were on your phone the entire time..." For a moment you thought Jay had finally snapped back to his senses.

"Well, I don't want to spoil the actual performance for tonight. I want to see everything all put together!" Trina pulled him back in again with her deceitfulness. You rolled your eyes and turned your head toward Loco, ChaCha, and Gray who were walking up to you and Jay.

"Jay! We still going out for lunch?" Gray asked as he approached closer.

"Nah, not today. I have a few errands to run with Trina before tonight. I'll catch ya'll later?" Jay helped Trina with her coat and walked out to the car with her hand in his. Your stomach sank at the sight, leaving you feeling empty.

"Well," ChaCha spoke, "you down to go eat, Y/N?" You shook your head and stood up from your chair.

"No, I'm not really in the mood to eat anything." Your sadness was written all over your face like a book.

"Is this because of Jay's new fling?" Loco pipped up. Loco had gotten to know you over the years too, and you hated admitting that he knew you just as much about you as you knew yourself.

"Who? Trina? Psssh. No." You lied.

"Come one Y/N. We all know you like Jay. Well, except for...Jay. Why don't you just tell him" Gray teased.

"Could you keep it down." You hushed. "I've moved on from that little crush, okay? Have fun at your lunch date. I'm going to take a nap." You turned on your heels and headed back to the hotel.

The feeling in your stomach made it hard for you to do anything the rest of the day, and Gray's comment of telling Jay about your crush on him played over again in your mind. Maybe he was right. You should tell Jay how you feel and who knows, maybe he would feel the same. You decided that after the concert you would officially tell him how you felt.

But, how would Jay respond to the news? You shook the thought, closed your eyes and drifted off into sleep.
