Hello everyone~

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this short store. I hope that you enjoy it and leave a comment!

With a little luck

- Madam? -Duo smiled as he extended the tray with a single delicate flute containing a pink liquid towards her-

- Much appreciated -she replied as she took the glass. Smiling at the wink he gave her before walking away she wondered how he was able to infiltrate so easily as one of the helpers when his hair was still styled in that long braid of his-

- Miss Relena, -the host of the party interrupted her thoughts, stepping into her line of vision- how are you enjoying yourself tonight?

- Everything is beautiful, thank you so much for inviting me -she dodged the question with ease, taking the glass to her smiling lips to avoid saying how she wanted to head home already-

- Well of course, -he said as he stood straighter and his smile broaden- I looked after everything myself.

She closed her eyes briefly and nodded with the smile still adorning her lips. This was a technique she had developed years ago to avoid herself from rolling her eyes at cocky comments like that. She listened to him talk with pretense intent, looking like she was giving him her full attention while analyzing her surroundings in her mind. The party was truly lovely, she hadn't lied about that, and Thomas Watson himself was a very sought after bachelor that only associated himself with potential business partners or important political figures.

This event was a great opportunity for everyone involved to create connections as the list was very selective making it feel intimate. For some reason however, she couldn't shake the feeling that she had better things to do than to play doll at this party and no matter how beneficial it was for her to associate with him there was just something about his presence that always threw her off. As she nodded a third time and laughed at something not particularly funny that he said, clarity came to her mind.

That's it! He is an-

-What an ass, does he ever stop talking? -came as clear as day through the discrete ear piece she was wearing-

- Duo, -a second voice, Wufei, reprimanded as the first voice laughed- stop being distracting.

- I see that you are not trying the new champagne we released -Thomas pointed out, since Relena was probably the only person in the event with a pink instead of a lightly golden filled glass-

- I hope you find no offence to this -she replied, pretending to be lightly embarrassed- This is just one of my favorite drinks, and sometimes I have a hard time trying new things.

- Not at all, in the other hand I believe you to have incredible taste -a mischievous shimmer sparked in his eyes- Is that our second generation rose?

- Impressive, -she widened her eyes slightly- How did you know?

- I might look just like another business man to you, my dear -he took his own glass to his lips. Taking this moment to create suspense- But I am very involved in our company. Even from here I can distinguish the color and texture of any of our products.

- What a tool -this time Wufei was unable to stop himself from expressing out loud-

Relena laughed at that comment, making Thomas believe he had hit the mark during his speech. She shook her head lightly as if what he said had impressed her while taking the dainty glass that actually contained sparkling water and cranberry juice to her lips.

The man in front of her probably wouldn't feel so full of himself if he knew that Relena never drank alcohol at social gathering, specially one that had so many eyes, including his, on her. She wasn't surprised over his ignorance however, as her secretary had advised against sharing this detail with the public saying it would seem that she was judgmental of those who liked to enjoy themselves a little too much during these events.
Instead, her team had developed a plan to make the world believe that the minister herself would only drink a very expensive rose that just so happen to be their own favorite. Knowing full well that the giving Relena would share any gifts with them, and she consistently received way too many bottles to drink on her own from people trying to gain her favor.

- I thought that you guys would only have your new signature bottle on hand today, -she broke the silence as the laughs died and before it became uncomfortable- but being tended to this way without me even having to ask for it sure makes me feel special.

- Well, -his cheeks got slightly pink, probably taking her words for some sort of honest romantic interest and not just flattery that she intended- a good host has to foresee his guests' needs. Don't tell anyone else but your invitation was the only one I hand wrote myself.

She took a hand to her chest, pretending to be honored by his comment. Honestly, there was a part of her that felt somewhat guilty for playing him like this. She didn't believe in using people, but at gatherings like this it was hard to make connections without stroking some egos. Especially the ego of those who were going out of their way to be noticed.

- Play time is over, princess -a harsh voice came through the ear piece throwing her slightly off balance-

- Shit, -Duo cut through the transmission- fire is coming your way, Relena.

Too late

She thought as she felt a bigger figure stand closely to her right and reach for the glass in her hand.

- Care to dance? -Heero's voice sounded far away through her ringing ears, even though she could feel his warm breath near her cheek-

Thomas stared in disbelief as he took the glass from the unknown man after he finished Relena's drink in one go.

- Thanks -the pilot told him with a confident smile while taking the woman's hand and leading her to the dance area-

- What are you doing here? -she said once the surprise wore off and with a raised eyebrow- This is not a red zone event.

- Reinforcement -he said with a simple tone. She frowned confused, even though his expressions were calm she could see some kind of spark in his eye-

- Wufei is my head of security -the blonde wasn't sure why she was saying it out loud as she was fully aware he knew that- Any reinforcement request should come through him.

Heero shrugged his shoulders slightly and without neither of them breaking stride, he placed the hand they held together in his shoulder while reaching for a strand of hair that had escaped her hairdo and placing it behind her ear.

- Damn it Heero, don't you dare cut us of-

The voice went mute on her ear as he took advantage of his hand placement and lightly switched the device to off with ease before retaking her hand and twirling her into a move that would've probably made any other dancing partner that was not her loose her footing. He smiled, she truly was the only person that could keep up with what everyone called his aggressive way of dancing.

- What is this about? -she asked again once they went back to center, not liking nor believing his previous answer-

- It's been nine months.

- I know how long it has been since we last saw each other Heero, -she replied almost with a sigh. Even if she was used to him coming and going as he pleased, he didn't make it a habit to interfere unless her life was at risk. With how conservative the guest list was, she highly doubted that was the case- Don't make me ask again.

- You were flirting with him -he spoke after a few seconds of silence, a frown in his face and that fire still showing in his eyes-

- I was only networking -she defended herself, feeling how that tiny guilt she had felt before was growing inside her- It is part of my job.

- No -his eyes seemed to burn brighter, stronger- It hasn't been part of your duty in the past and it won't be in the future.

He stepped forward as she bent lightly backwards forming a beautiful dip as the song ended. Relena released his hand in the mist of clapping hands, ready to step back and away from all the eyes that seemed to be scrutinizing every single move they were making.

-Let's take this somewhere else -she stated but was unable to move as Heero had both of his hands on her hips, leaving her unable to escape-

- No

- What? -she was truly confused by his behavior, placing her hands on his chest she tried to push him lightly-

- I said, no -he repeated, pinning her with his gaze-

She could hear the next song play and moving figures rounded them as they stood there looking into each other eyes. She frowned wondering what was going through his mind. Out of seemingly nowhere he smiled warmly and holding her left hand he brought her palm to his lips, leaving a soft kiss.

Her chest tightened when she saw the sparkle of a ring that she was positive have not been part of the accessories she had been wearing earlier that evening.

- W-when did you? -her voice cracked as her vision became blurry. A sudden thought ran to her head and she punched him lightly on the chest with her free hand- You better not be messing with me Heero Yuy!

- I missed you -he rasped, bringing their foreheads together and holding her now crying face in his hands- Say yes

- You haven't even asked me yet -she replied in between tears and laughs-

- Marry me -a soft kiss on her cheek made her softly sigh at the tenderness he usually only showed when it was just them two-

- Yes -her slender arms wrapped around his neck and she buried her face against his neck, trying to hide her tear-stained face-

He slightly bent down and lifted her in one of his arms as he reached to his own earpiece with his free hand.

- Initiating extraction -he announced as he walked towards the excited- No assistance needed.

You lucky motherfucker!

He couldn't help but smile as Duo's laughing voice keep ringing in his head even after cutting off the transmission. He agreed as he tightened both arms over her figure effectively bringing Relena closer. He didn't understand how a bastard like himself had gotten so lucky, but he sure as hell wasn't going to complain.
