A/N: After taking a break from writing for a few months, I finally decided to get this story up.
Here is the new version of the sequel to "Alternate Events: When Heroes and Universes Collide". The basic premise (Conner Kent/Superboy from Earth-21 being a member of Team Flash while Barry is trapped in the Speed Force) is the same, while the main differences between this story and the previous version are that there will not be a Crisis on Earth-X rewrite this time, especially since I have no plans for Barry and Iris to get back together in this, and DeVoe isn't showing up either since the plot of The Flash Season 4 won't work with my own plans. As before, the first couple of chapters will contain some elements from The Flash 4x01 as well as flashbacks of Conner being involved in the events of Legends of Tomorrow 2x17.
For those of you who haven't read "Alternate Events: When Heroes and Universes Collide", I recommend doing so before reading this story. Otherwise, certain plot points may be confusing.
Chapter 1
Five months had passed since the Speed Force storm that appeared over Central City as well as the disappearance of a certain Scarlet Speedster. While The Flash was absent, Central City was under the protection of two other superheroes – Wally West aka Kid Flash and Conner Kent aka Superboy, the latter having volunteered to join what was left of Team Flash after learning of what had happened to Barry.
Conner was flying above the city, while Wally was racing from street to street as the two were pursuing Shawna Baez aka Peek-a-Boo, the latest meta causing trouble in Central City. Instead of his long-sleeved black shirt and blue jeans, Conner was wearing a new outfit that Cisco had made for him a few weeks ago, which was a black leather suit marked with red lines on the sides, shoulders, arms, and legs along with a red House of El symbol on the chest. Conner and Wally were trying their best to catch Peek-a-Boo, but despite the former's Kryptonian abilities and the latter's speed, they weren't having much luck due to Peek-a-Boo constantly teleporting from one spot to another.
"I can't find her, Conner!" Conner heard Wally's voice announced over his comms.
Conner flew down to the street with a whoosh and landed next to Wally. "I'm not having much luck either. Teleporters are never easy to catch."
"She's really stepped up her game since the last time we faced her," Conner and Wally heard Cisco's voice over the comms as Cisco was in the cortex of S.T.A.R. Labs sitting at the computers. "Got her!"
"And?" Wally asked.
"Where?" Conner asked at the same time.
"Duck!" Cisco exclaimed.
"I don't see no duck," Wally said in confusion.
Suddenly, Peek-a-Boo appeared behind Conner and Wally. Before Wally could react, Peek-a-Boo sucker-punched him in the face, knocking Wally to the ground. She then punched Conner in the face, only to instantly retract her hand with a cry of pain while Conner was unaffected. Peek-a-Boo clutched her hurt hand, her confusion giving Conner the distraction he needed to deck her in the face with just enough force to knock her out.
Conner turned to Wally and asked. "Are you all right?"
"He meant the other 'duck," Wally groaned, getting back to his feet.
"Yeah, I cannot believe you actually thought I meant a 'duck' duck," Cisco said over the comms.
"Well, we got her now," Conner said, as he and Wally looked down at Peek-a-Boo's unconscious form.
(S.T.A.R. Labs)
"Well done out there, Team Vibe, that was a pretty good hustle," Cisco said, as Conner and Wally, whose cowl was pulled back, exited the elevator. The three of them started walking along the corridor.
"It's Team Kid Flash, but thank you," Wally corrected.
"I think Team Superboy has a better ring than both of those," Conner added.
"Well, since I'm the one who's been on this team the longest, we're calling it Team Vibe," Cisco said. "I have to say, the three of us are doing better than I expected catching bad guys these last five months. Barry would be so proud of us." Glancing at Conner, he added, "Of course it helps that we have you on our team."
"I'm glad to lend a hand in this city, but it's a team effort that we're doing so well, not just me," Conner said, humbly.
"That's because Team Kid Flash is always on the case," Wally said, proudly.
"No offense, Wally, but Team Kid Flash isn't exactly as catchy as it would be if you drop the 'kid' from the name," Cisco said. "Not to mention it's like too many syllables."
"Any luck figuring out a way to get Barry out of the Speed Force?" Conner asked Cisco, as they and Wally entered the cortex.
"Without unleashing another lightning storm on the city? About that," Cisco headed over to a computer and started typing away. "I've consulted with Harry, Tina, and Tracy, and I'm pretty sure I've figured out a way to stabilize the Speed Force prison and free Barry without ripping Central City and possibly the world in two. I just need a couple of more things."
"Are you sure it's a good idea getting Barry out?" Wally asked, warily. "I want him back as much as you do, but we know what could happen if he comes out of the Speed Force. It could destroy the city, the whole world."
"We owe it to Barry to at least try to bring him back," Cisco insisted. There was no way in hell he was leaving his best friend to rot in a hellish prison for all of eternity. Besides, he'd come so far in the last five months and had no intention of throwing away all his progress.
"I agree with Cisco," Conner said. "The least we could do is try. I mean, if it was either one of you in his place, I doubt Barry would give up without a fight."
"Good point," Wally nodded, before turning to Cisco. "All right, when will we be ready to do this?"
"By tomorrow morning actually if all goes well," Cisco answered.
"Good luck with that," Conner said, before pulling out an inter-dimensional extrapolator device. "In the meantime, I'm gonna head home for a bit. It's been almost a year since I last saw Clark and I definitely owe him a visit. I'll be back soon though."
"No problem, take as much time as you need on your Earth," Cisco said.
Conner pressed the button on his extrapolator, opening a breach in front of him. He leapt into the breach, disappearing before it closed a moment later.
Earth-21
Hundreds of feet above Metropolis, a bluish-white breach opened seemingly out of nowhere. A moment later, Conner flew out of the breach before it closed. Pausing in mid-air, Conner looked around and noticed the Daily Planet along with its spinning globe below. He also noticed the Watchtower building in the distance.
"Home sweet home," he muttered, a smile forming on his face.
Pocketing the extrapolator, Conner flew down and landed on the Daily Planet rooftop. He pulled out his phone and dialed Clark's number hoping it was still the same. He placed the phone to his ear and listened as it started ringing.
"Hello?" a very familiar male voice said after the phone had rung three times.
"Clark," Conner gushed, smiling upon hearing his brother's voice, a voice he hadn't heard in almost a year. It was in that moment that it truly felt like he was back in his universe.
"Conner? Is that you?" Clark asked in a surprised tone.
"It's me, Clark," Conner answered, still smiling. "It's Conner. I'm back. You have no idea how good it feels to hear your voice again."
"The feeling is mutual," Clark said.
"Are you busy right now?" Conner asked. He wanted more than anything to meet up with Clark in person, but he didn't want to intrude on whatever his brother may be busy with at the moment. "If so, I'll leave you be for now and we can see each other after..."
Suddenly hearing a whoosh and feeling a powerful gust of wind behind him, Conner spun around to see Superman hovering a few feet away, a huge grin on the Man of Steel's face.
"It's so good to see you again, buddy," Clark said happily, descending to the surface of the rooftop. The two brothers threw their arms around each other in a firm, but warm, embrace.
"Same here, Clark," Conner said back, before the two let each other go.
"Nice new uniform, by the way," Clark commented, eyeing Conner's new black and red suit. "It suits you."
"Thanks," Conner said, placing his hand on the 'S' symbol on his chest. "Cisco made it for me. He's really good at making suits for people."
"I see," Clark agreed. "You're not back permanently, are you?"
Conner shook his head. "No, not permanently. I honestly like what I'm doing on the other Earth now. I just wanted to see how you and everyone else are doing given how long it's been since I left."
"Other than Oliver, Chloe, and their son finally moving to Star City two months ago, not too much has changed in the last year," Clark said. "How long do you plan on staying?"
"Until tomorrow morning is fine," Conner said. "That'll give us time to talk and catch up, and also grab all my clothes and other belongings, which are still at the farm, right?"
"All of your clothes and belongings are exactly as you left them," Clark assured him. "Meet me in the Watchtower at seven this evening and we can continue our talk there."
"Cool, I'll see you at Watchtower," Conner agreed.
With that, Conner and Clark flew off in opposite directions, the former heading to the Kent farm to pack his clothes and belongings while the latter rushed back into the Daily Planet changing back into his civilian attire.
(Later, Watchtower)
Now dressed in a plain black T-shirt, blue jeans, and black tennis shoes, Conner entered the Watchtower room carrying a box of pepperoni pizza. Inside were Clark, Lois, and Tess Mercer (who was in her human form) sitting on one of the couches.
"Well, look who's already here, it's Superman Jr.," Lois said. She and Tess stood up as Conner walked over to them.
"It's good to see you too, Lois," Conner said, as he and Lois hugged each other. "And I still hate it when you call me 'Superman Jr.'."
"I know you much you hate it, which is why I'm gonna keep calling you that," Lois said, before she playfully punched Conner on the arm. "Not to mention there's a bit of truth to it, technically speaking."
"We still prefer 'brother', Lois, in case you've forgotten," Clark reminded her.
"Is there anyone whose last names are both Kent and El who knows how to not take a joke so seriously?" Lois remarked. She took the box of pizza from Conner. "I assume this is dinner." She sat back down, opened the box of pizza, and helped herself to two slices. "The sooner we get started on devouring this piping-hot pizza, the less we have to worry about it getting cold."
Tess embraced the young man who, even to this day, was like a son to her. "It's great to see you, Conner."
"Right back at you, Tess," Conner said, happy to be reunited with the woman who had saved his life in Cadmus Labs all those years ago. "Sorry I didn't visit sooner."
"I'm sure you've been quite busy protecting the timeline with your time-traveling companions," Tess said in understanding.
"I'm actually not much of a time-traveler these days," Conner said. "It's a long story."
"One that the rest of the class would love to hear from the Boy of Steel," Lois said. "What exciting tales do you have stashed in that half-human/half-Kryptonian brain of yours?"
Conner grabbed a slice of pizza from the box before speaking. "Uh, when I was on the Legends, our main mission was to stop a group of rogue time-travelers from rewriting reality with a powerful artifact called the Spear of Destiny."
"The Spear of Destiny? That sounds like something out of a movie," Lois remarked.
"I've heard of the Spear of Destiny before," Clark said. "It was reportedly used by a Roman soldier to pierce the side of Jesus Christ after he died on the cross."
"Resulting in its reality-altering powers," Conner added. "The Spear granted whoever used it the ability to change reality however they see fit, which was what the other Earth's Legion of Doom wanted to do."
"So this other Earth has a team of villains called the Legion of Doom too," Tess said.
"Had, since we've already defeated them," Conner corrected. "But you guys are not gonna believe who was on that team."
"Who?" Lois asked, curious.
"Lex," Conner answered.
"Lex?" Clark said, incredulously.
"As in Lex 'Mr. Pain-In-The-Ass' Luthor?" Lois added, not at all surprised that the man she hated with a passion was still a bad guy on another Earth.
"Not only that, but the Lex Luthor from this Earth," Conner said, causing Clark, Lois, and Tess to look at him with stunned expressions.
"The Lex Luthor from this Earth?" Clark repeated.
"The Lex who was recruited into the Legion was from this Earth but not this time period," Conner clarified. "He was pulled from the year 2025."
"2025? That's eight years from now," Lois noted.
"How did our Lex from eight years in the future wound up on another Earth?" Clark wondered.
"Lex was brought to the other Earth by a speedster from the future named Eobard Thawne, who was called the Reverse-Flash," Conner explained.
"Reverse-Flash? That's the name of the speedster who killed Barry's mother when he was a child," Clark said, recalling the conversation he and Barry had during the Dominator invasion.
"Yeah," Conner nodded. "Thawne traveled to this Earth in 2025, broke Lex out of Stryker's, and recruited Lex into a team he gathered."
"There must've been a reason that this Eobard Thawne went through all the trouble of recruiting someone from an entirely different universe," Tess said.
"Not to mention that said 'someone' being our resident bald-headed big bad that no one in their right mind would miss anyway," Lois added.
"The reason Thawne recruited Lex was because of me," Conner answered. "Thawne needed someone on his team who had experience in dealing with Kryptonians so they would stand a chance against me."
"Otherwise, you'd be virtually unstoppable against them," Clark said in understanding.
"Exactly," Conner nodded. "Thanks to Lex, Thawne and his teammates kept themselves armed with different kryptonite weapons in case they had to deal with me. At least we beat them in the end though, but not without making things complicated to say the least."
"Complicated, huh? Let's hear it," Lois said.
"I guess I'll start with what happened during our trip to 1916 to get our hands on a vial of Christ's blood buried in France," Conner said.
"Christ's blood?" Lois repeated, incredulously.
"We found out that the blood of Christ was the only thing that could've destroyed the Spear of Destiny before Lex, Thawne, and their allies could get their hands on it, but things went off the rails big time while we were in 1916," Conner explained.
"What happened?" Clark asked.
"For starters, we encountered another version of our team who came to 1916 a second time from a future where Thawne and his Legion successfully altered reality," Conner said.
"So there were two sets of you and your teammates in 1916 due to events going wrong in the original version of events," Tess said in understanding.
"Right, but not all of our future selves made it back," Conner said, with a sigh. "The other me was one of the future Legends who got killed in the alternate world the Legion created after they got the Spear, which also had taken away our powers, leaving us vulnerable."
"The important thing is you're here and alive now," Clark said, hit with a pang of sadness from learning that his younger brother had died in a previous timeline.
"This time travel mumbo-jumbo stuff tends to give a girl a headache," Lois said. "You know me, I was never one to fully grasp my head around all this sci-fi type stuff."
"Understanding stuff like time travel and multiple Earths gets easier the more you experience it," Conner said. "Anyway, we teamed up with what was left of the future version of our team during the final fight with the Legion of Doom..."
Earth-1, France in 1916
Future Jax, Future Sara, Future Rip, Future Mick, and Future Nate stood in one row, while in the row behind them stood Present Sara with the Spear in her hand, Present Mick, Present Jax, Professor Stein, Superboy, Ray in his Atom exo-suit, Amaya, Present Nate, and Present Rip.
"Guys, we've got company," Future Sara announced.
"I see them," Present Sara said.
Approaching from the opposite direction were Leonard Snart armed with his cold gun, Lex Luthor with a pair of green gauntlets around his hands, Damien Darhk with a large high-tech gun, and Malcolm Merlyn also armed with a high-tech gun.
"Everybody clear on the plan?" Future Sara asked, looking back at the Present Legends.
"Run like hell, try not to die," Present Sara answered.
Future Sara glanced at her teammates. "What about you guys? You ready?"
"Other than the fact that I can't Firestorm and Nate can't Steel?" Future Jax nodded, gun blaster at the ready.
"You bet your sweet ass we're ready," Future Nate added.
As the four Legion of Doom villains were getting closer and closer, Present Jax and Professor Stein claspsed each other's hands and merged into Firestorm. Firestorm, The Atom, and Superboy levitated into the air, while the rest of the Legends charged at the Legion of Doom, those armed with guns firing them.
Snart fired his cold gun up at the fliers, while Darhk and Merlyn did the same with their high-tech guns.
Lex touched a button on one of his gauntlets and within seconds his green and purple suit of armor covered his entire body. He levitated into the air and fired a green energy blast at Superboy, who swerved out of the way to avoid it. Superboy fired a blast of heat vision, only for Lex to fly out of the way. The two then flew around each other, Lex firing several more energy blasts while Superboy fired blasts of heat vision. Superboy punched Lex in the chest, sending him back, and then threw a second punch, sending Lex crashing to the ground. Superboy flew down as Lex quickly raised his gauntlet and fired, a powerful green blast striking Superboy square in the chest, knocking him back. Getting back up, Lex flew over to where Superboy, who was weakened from the blast, had landed. Superboy tried to punch Lex, but Lex seized Superboy's fist, clenching it as Superboy grunted in pain. With his other hand, Lex punched Superboy in the face, forming a cut across the Boy of Steel's cheek. A long, glowing green blade then popped out of the wrist of Lex's gauntlet, weakening Superboy further.
"It just occurred to me, Superboy," Lex said, with a smirk. "Why stop at merely rewriting the history of this Earth in our image? Once my team and I are in possession of the Spear, we could travel to every other Earth in existence and do the same on those. One thing my father – my bad, our father considering who half of your DNA came from – always told me was that I was meant for great things. What better way to accomplish great things than having dominion over the entire Multiverse with no one standing in my way? It looks like I finally found my destiny."
"We're not gonna let that happen!" Conner groaned, the dreadful effects of the kryptonite from Lex's blade preventing him from getting back to his feet. "You and your team are not getting your hands on the Spear this time around!"
"Is that so?" Lex sneered, not at all fazed by the words of his boyish opponent. If Superman never once had intimidated the bald billionaire-slash-former President of the United States, the Man of Steel's half-Kryptonian knock-off was most certainly not going to achieve that task. "If you and your so-called Legends weren't so idiotic, maybe you could've beaten us by now. You really think today will play out any differently?"
"It will," Conner answered, determination in his voice despite the intense pain he was in.
"You could've joined me," Lex continued, ignoring Conner's comment. "Maybe if you'd embraced the Luthor half of your being and helped me overthrow Thawne like I offered, you could've had a desirable place in the new world the Spear will grant us."
"I learned the hard way that it's not a good idea to align myself with a Luthor, unless that Luthor is Tess," Conner replied, remembering the time when he had foolishly accepted a red kryptonite ring from the alternate universe Lionel Luthor not knowing that it would strip away his inhibitions. Thankfully, Clark had brought him back to his senses before Conner could do something he surely would've regretted for the rest of his life.
"Very well then," Lex said, pulling his arm with the glowing green blade back.
Up in the air, The Atom was hit by a blast of ice from Snart's cold gun, sending him crash-landing on the ground. Firestorm looked down where Lex was about to stab Superboy with the glowing green blade and flew down to help, narrowly avoiding a couple of arrows fired at him by Merlyn. Firestorm blasted Lex with a huge fireball, sending Lex flying back.
"Are you all right?" Firestorm asked, helping Superboy to his feet.
"I'll live," Conner replied, the effects of the kryptonite quickly wearing off.
Clenching his fists, Superboy flew over to Lex, who got back to his feet. Superboy unleashed his freeze breath at the same time Lex unleashed steady green blasts from both gauntlets, the two attacks clashing halfway struggling to overpower the other. After several seconds, Lex and Superboy were simultaneously thrown backwards in opposite directions.
Firestorm moved to help Superboy, but was shot in the shoulder with an arrow fired by Merlyn, knocking Firestorm to the ground and causing him to separate into Present Jax and Professor Stein upon impact. Nocking another arrow, Merlyn aimed it at Stein and pulled back the string.
"No!" Present Jax shouted in horror, watching as Merlyn fired the arrow.
Suddenly, Superboy appeared in front of Stein with a whoosh just in time for the arrow to bounce off his chest.
Merlyn then noticed Future Jax running over to lend a hand and fired an arrow at him. Noticing this, Superboy made a move to try and save Future Jax, but it was too late. The arrow had struck Future Jax in the chest. Future Jax collapsed to the ground, blood pooling underneath him.
A horrified Stein crawled over to Future Jax. "No," the professor mumbled, watching as Future Jax closed his eyes and the young man's body went limp. "Jefferson? Please, please."
Present Jax pulled the arrow out of his shoulder and quickly got back to his feet. As Merlyn nocked another arrow and aimed it at Stein, Jax grabbed one of Merlyn's arrows from Merlyn's quiver and stabbed Merlyn in the back of the leg, causing Merlyn to double over in pain for a moment before hitting Jax in the face with his bow, knocking the younger man down. Before Merlyn could make another move, there was a whoosh as Superboy punched him in the face, knocking Merlyn out cold.
Superboy then let out a cry of pain as he was struck in the back and thrown several meters by a green energy blast. He looked up to see Lex hovering over him.
"I offered you a chance of greatness, a chance to have everything you've ever wanted, yet you reject it," Lex said. "Surely there are things about your personal life you'd change if given the opportunity, like bringing a certain star-spangled girlfriend back to the land of the living for instance. The Spear could make that happen. You only have to do one thing first."
Conner allowed Lex's words to sink in for several moments. As much as he hated the bald billionaire's guts and wish more than anything to rid himself of Lex's half of his DNA, Conner couldn't help but feel that Lex had a point. Even after three years, he still missed Courtney. He missed Courtney so much, and having encountered her Earth-1 counterpart, who had a slightly different face, in 507 A.D. not too long ago had done nothing but caused the pain of losing his version of her to come rushing back up. Luckily, the Spear of Destiny could bring Courtney back. He could hold her in his arms again, stroke her angelic face and blonde curls while staring into her gorgeous blue eyes, and most of all put a ring on her finger like he had planned to do before her untimely death. Superboy and Stargirl, the ultimate power couple, second only to Superman and Lois Lane of course. He could live happily ever after with the love of his life, the same way his older brother did with Lois.
But wait! He couldn't do that! He couldn't play God! What would give him the right to deliberately bring a deceased person back to life, even if it was the one person he loved more than life itself? He mentally slapped himself in the face for even considering it. No matter how much he wanted to see Courtney, his Stargirl, alive again, he would be making a selfish decision. It was wrong. Clark and Courtney would both be ashamed of him. And Conner knew deep down that bringing her back to life was not something that Courtney would want, especially when she was at peace.
Pushing those selfish thoughts to the back of his mind, Conner glared at Lex as his eyes lit up. "Nice try using that card against me, but nothing you say and do will get me to abandon my team and switch sides!"
With that, Superboy unleashed his heat vision. Lex raised his gauntlet preparing to counter with a green energy blast, but Superboy's heat vision was so intense that it sent Lex flying many feet back. Superboy flew at Lex at full speed and knocked Lex into the air with a powerful uppercut. Suddenly coming up with an idea, Superboy flew high into the air and Lex gave chase, firing eight energy blasts as Superboy swerved every single one of them. Once he was a few hundred feet up, Superboy paused in mid-air, allowing Lex to charge at him with a punch which Superboy easily dodged. Superboy flew a few feet below Lex and delivered another powerful uppercut that sent Lex even higher in the air. Superboy then flew above Lex and brought down both of his fists, smashing them against Lex's chest with more strength than he normally utilized. Superboy watched as Lex plummeted towards the ground rapidly and crash-landed with a powerful thud, causing quite a bit of damage to Lex's suit of armor.
As Firestorm flew up appearing next to him, Superboy asked, "You think you can do that transmutation thing and get rid of Lex's armor?"
"On it," Firestorm nodded, before he and Superboy flew down to where Lex was lying on the ground unmoving.
Wanting to make sure that Lex wouldn't have a chance to recover and attack them unexpectedly, Superboy punched Lex's face three times, cracking the head of the armor to the point that half of Lex's face, which had several bruises, was exposed. Thankfully, the bald billionaire was unconscious. Superboy then delivered a punch to the center of Lex's suit, powering it down completely.
"This armor may give Lex the strength to kinda kick by butt, but I'm still stronger and my powers are genuine," Conner remarked.
Firestorm bent down and placed his hand on Lex's suit, causing it to glow with orange energy. After a few seconds, the green and purple suit of armor instantly transformed into water, leaving Lex merely dressed in a brilliant white suit similar to the ones he had worn during his Presidency.
"Awesome," Conner gushed, realizing that Lex would no longer be a threat.
Future Mick shoved Darhk from behind and pinned him against a tree trunk. Darhk tried to raise his sword, but Mick pushed Darhk's arm down, causing the sword to fall out of Darhk's hand. Mick then pointed his heat gun on top of Darhk's chest preparing to pull the trigger.
"Let him go, Mick!" Snart demanded, as he appeared behind Mick and pointed his cold gun at his former partner.
"I'm not listening to you anymore," Mick growled, heavily regretting having betrayed the Legends and being partly responsible for the Legion of Doom successfully creating Doomworld in the original timeline.
"Come on, is that any way to talk to your old partner?" Snart sneered.
"I don't have a partner," Mick said, keeping the heat gun on Darhk's chest. "I have a team."
"Yeah, Darhk said you'd gone soft," Snart said, with a smirk. "Let me fix that for you."
With that, a long shard of ice protruded from Mick's chest as Snart fired his cold gun. A moment later, Mick fell to the ground, dead.
"Mick! No!" The Atom, who was on the ground nearby and had seen what happened, cried out in horror. "No!"
Snart then aimed his cold gun at The Atom and was about to pull the trigger when a blast of fire non-fatally struck Snart in the chest, knocking him to the ground.
"What's your problem?" Present Mick asked The Atom, who got back to his feet in shock.
"You're... you're alive!" The Atom gushed, as he approached Mick, who then glared at him.
"You hug me, I'll kill you," Mick threatened, before walking away.
"Okay, later," The Atom said.
"Hey!" Future Nate called out, as he approached Amaya, Present Sara, and Present Rip. "The Waverider is just around..."
Future Nate was cut off as Darhk appeared behind him, stabbing him in the back through the abdomen with his sword.
"I thought you were made of steel," Darhk quipped, before retracting the bloody sword from Future Nate's body.
"No!" Amaya cried out, as Future Nate collapsed to the ground, dead. She rushed over to him.
"Get this to the ship," Present Sara said to Present Rip, handing him the Spear.
As Rip headed off, Sara turned to Darhk with a murderous glare.
"Oh, I've been waiting for this," Darhk sneered, staring Sara down with a look of determination.
And with that, Darhk charged at her, swinging his sword at Sara's head. Sara ducked under the sword and kicked Darhk down into the trench behind him. Picking up a sword that was lying on the ground nearby, Sara leapt down into the trench swinging the sword at Darhk, who rolled out of the way and got back to his feet. As the fight continued, Sara and Darhk fiercely swung their swords, ducking and blocking each other's attacks while exchanging the occasional kick and punch in what was more or less an evenly matched battle. This went on for a good minute until Sara elbowed Darhk in the face and delivered a spin-kick that knocked him against the wall, causing Darhk to drop his sword. Sara then held her sword at Darhk's throat, extremely tempted to end his life, which could save her sister, but ultimately decided against it.
"What are you waiting for? Do it," Darhk taunted.
"Death would be too kind," Sara replied, before moving the sword away from Darhk's throat.
Future Sara then appeared and punched Darhk in the face, knocking him unconscious.
"Nice work, both of you," Future Rip said to the two Saras. "Where's the Spear?"
"You took it to the rendezvous point," Present Sara answered.
"Oh, did I? Right," Future Rip said, momentarily confused before realizing that Sara was referring to his present counterpart.
Future Sara tapped her earpiece and announced, "If you don't want to get stuck in 1916, get to the ship now."
The Legends were on their way to the Waverider preparing to leave 1916 as Present Rip handed Present Sara the Spear.
"Can't believe we made it," The Atom said, relieved that they finally had beaten the Legion of Doom.
"Don't jinx it," Future Sara said, considering past experiences where it appeared as though she and her team had won only for the opposite to be true.
"Wait, what about Thawne? We still haven't..."
Superboy was cut off by a whooshing sound as a streak of red lightning appeared seemingly out of nowhere circling the Legends.
"You just had to say it, didn't you?" Jax groaned, looking pointedly at Superboy, who shrugged in response.
"I hate that guy," Mick growled.
Future Rip was violently thrown to the ground, dead with a long, bloody gash across his neck.
"Not that guy," Eobard Thawne aka the Reverse-Flash announced, as he stopped running and stood before the Legends. "THESE GUYS!"
The Legends looked around and saw that they were surrounded by a horde of Thawne time remnants. How were they going to make it out of this one alive? Even Superboy wasn't sure how to answer that question.
"You traveled back in time to help yourselves, I figured I could do the same," Thawne sneered. "You know, it's true what they say. If you want something done right, you really have to do it yourself."
