Chapter 13

(D.E.O.)

Lena was in the conference room with Supergirl, The Flash, Alex, J'onn, Superboy, Tess (still in her Red Tornado form), Mon-El, Brainy, and Imra as she was being interviewed.

"Please state your name," J'onn instructed.

"Lena Keiran Luthor," Lena replied. "Where should I begin?"

"How long has this been going on?" Supergirl asked.

"Three weeks," Lena answered.

"And what exactly have you been doing with Sam for weeks?" Supergirl inquired.

"When I first suspected that Sam was more than she knew, I took her to a secret lab in L-Corp, where I conducted a series of tests," Lena explained. "With her consent."

"When I examined her, I found nothing out of the ordinary," Alex said.

"Then you weren't looking for the right things," Lena said.

"So what did you find?" Alex asked, firmly.

"After sequencing her DNA and comparing Sam's blackouts to the Reign's attacks, I came to the conclusion that Sam and Reign were one and the same," Lena explained. "Sam is Reign."

"So, for three weeks, you've been harboring and abetting a mass murderer," J'onn said, accusingly.

"I helped a friend," Lena protested.

"And you didn't think to bring this to our attention?" J'onn asked.

"The attention of a clandestine organization, that's never formally acknowledged its existence to me? No," Lena retorted. "I am not your employee. I have not signed a contract, nor sworn an oath. I conducted an L-Corp experiment, using L-Corp technology on L-Corp property."

Tess eyed her counterpart with an understanding look. Lena had brought up some valid points, Tess thought. She wasn't in any way obliged to report what went on in her own company to the D.E.O., nor had she violated any laws. She was merely helping a friend in need, with said friend's consent no less. Tess was certain she would do the exact same thing in Lena's situation, which made sense given their remarkable similarities. However, Tess had a feeling that things weren't going to end well for her fellow half-sister of a Lex Luthor.

"What did you discover?" Supergirl demanded.

Lena gulped, having a feeling this could be the beginning of the Girl of Steel no longer trusting her. "I was hoping to isolate the spark that turned Sam into Reign, but I didn't get a chance to finish."

"Weeks with Reign," Supergirl sighed. "Do you have any way of tracking the Worldkillers?"

"No," Lena answered, to everyone's disappointment.

Supergirl turned to Mon-El, Imra, and Brainy. "Anyone else?"

"They've gone to ground," Mon-El answered. "They're not coming up again until they have something big to do."

"The future's fate is more precarious than ever," Imra added.

"Would you like to know our odds of defeating Pestilence at this juncture?" Brainy offered.

"No," Mon-El and Imra answered, simultaneously.

Supergirl turned to Lena once more. "How... How did you keep her contained?"

Lena paused for a moment, feeling like she was about to pull the pin of a grenade. "Lex kept a vault in the lab. When I took over L-Corp, I inherited all of its assets, for good or for ill." She paused again for a moment. "I used kryptonite."

Everyone in the room, especially Supergirl and Superboy but the former more so, tensed at the revelation.

"I can't believe she had kryptonite," Kara said angrily, pacing back and forth as she, Barry, and Conner were outside on the balcony. "Kryptonite, guys."

"Okay, Kara, calm down before..."

"She held on to Lex's kryptonite," Kara snapped, interrupting Barry. "And you guys know he would only have it in his possession for one reason."

"But Lena is not Lex," Conner pointed out. "Unlike him, she's a good person who was only helping a friend, with that friend's consent. It's not like she used the kryptonite for ill intentions and, honestly, I don't think she would."

"Kara, I know you're angry right now and you have a right to be, but you know that Lena is nothing like Lex," Barry said.

"Then why didn't she tell us?" Kara snapped again. "Not just about Sam, but about the kryptonite?"

"Do you honestly believe that Lena would ever turn on you?" Barry asked, sternly. "Think about it. She trusts you, both as Kara Danvers and Supergirl. She's your best friend and you've had each other's backs so many times. Has she ever given you any reason not to trust her?" Kara thought about it for a moment and shook her head as Barry continued. "Then she deserves the benefit of the doubt. So far she's given no reason for you to distrust her. Think about that before you end up doing something you might regret and cross a line you might not be able to come back from."

Kara sighed, taking Barry's and Conner's words into consideration.

As the sky suddenly began to darken, the three heroes looked up at it and saw the moon covering the sun. Kara groaned as she placed her hand to her head.

"Kara?" Barry and Conner both said with concern.

Kara collapsed to the floor...

...and found herself lying on the ground in some kind of dark forest. Kara turned her head to the side and noticed Sam Arias and Julia Freeman wandering around.

Kara gasped as she came to. Barry, now with his cowl on, and Conner helped her to her feet as Alex and Lena rushed over.

"What happened?" Alex asked with concern.

"I saw Sam," Kara replied.

"That eclipse was like someone grabbed on the moon and pulled," Lena said, as she, The Flash, Superboy, Supergirl, and Alex were walking down the stairs. "The Earth and the moon turn on an axis, and no amount of technology can change that."

"That's because this isn't technology," Supergirl said.

"You should be in the med-bay," Alex said.

"I'm fine," Supergirl insisted. "This is older than science."

"Please don't say 'magic'," Lena said.

"Dark magic," Supergirl said. "Reign, Purity, Pestilence, they were all created by Kryptonian witches to do one thing. Kill the world."

"Which is exactly what they're trying to do as we speak," The Flash said.

"How do you know that?" Lena asked.

"There's no apocalypse in the Book of Rao, but there are parables about witches joining hands to create a blessed darkness," Supergirl explained.

"So whatever ritual the Worldkillers are doing, it's creating the eclipse," Lena realized. "The world can't live without sunlight."

"Nothing can, including Supergirl and Superboy," Alex said, as they entered the main area.

"How long have we got?" J'onn asked.

"Two hours until totality," Winn answered.

"And then what?" Supergirl asked.

"Temperature drops fifty degrees, maybe more," Lena answered.

"Almost nothing will be able to survive under those conditions," Tess pointed out.

"You said you dreamed of Sam," Alex said to Supergirl.

"But people don't dream during a seizure," J'onn pointed out.

"It's the same dream I've been having for the last year," Supergirl said. "I'm in the Kryptonian valley Juru. Normally, I see the Worldkillers, but today, I saw Sam."

"You dreamed of Julia Freeman too," Alex recalled. "She turned out to be real."

"Well, it's not a dream, the valley's real," Lena stated. "When I was working with Sam, she told me of this place. It's an alternate dimension that she would go to when Reign would take over."

"That doesn't explain how Supergirl can see the valley too," The Flash pointed out.

"On Mars, my people would share memories, emotions, experiences," J'onn said. "Sometimes you would experience a particularly strong mind wholly by accident."

"Like picking up a radio broadcast?" Superboy asked.

"But Supergirl just picked up an alternate dimension," Winn pointed out.

"This theory might not be that much of a stretch," The Flash pointed out, remembering how Cisco's vibing abilities had manifested.

"The Flash is right, it's possible," Lena agreed. "And if we could go in there, maybe we could wake Sam up and she could send us a message to say where the Worldkillers are."

"There's still one big hole in this plan," J'onn said. "How do we send Supergirl back to this valley?"

"We fight fantasy with sci-fi," Supergirl suggested.

"Let me get this straight," Brainy said, as Supergirl, The Flash, Superboy, Alex, Lena, and Brainy were in the lab with him. "You want me to broadcast your consciousness into a magical dark valley dimension using the 31st century technology which allowed me to access your mind when Reign punched you into a coma. Technology specifically designed to enter human consciousness, not alternate realms. And you want me to do this all before the solar eclipse achieves totality, which will happen in less than two hours."

"Yes," Supergirl answered.

"Okay, no problem, sounds fun," Brainy said. "To the Legion cruiser."

"Let's do this," Supergirl said, as they walked out of the lab.

"I'm coming with you," Lena stated.

"Not a chance," Supergirl shook her head. "It might not even be possible."

"Oh, no, it's possible," Brainy said.

"Listen, I spent the last month working with Sam and Reign, every day," Lena said to Supergirl firmly. "I know what makes them tick. I know their DNA sequence better than my own phone number. What's more, I know Sam and you don't. If anyone can get through to her, it's me. I get that you may not trust me right now, but trust that I want to get Sam back."

"Sam's my friend too," Alex added. "And with the sun darkening, your powers are gonna weaken. You might not have any powers in that valley-mind-realm thing."

"They're right," The Flash said to Supergirl. "You can't do this alone. You're gonna need backup."

Supergirl smiled. "Well, I guess we're all in this together."

"Stronger together," The Flash said.

"I need fifteen minutes to prepare," Brainy said, as he and Lena headed off.

Supergirl turned to Superboy and Flash. "So which of you two are coming with me, Alex, and Lena?"

"I'll come," Superboy volunteered.

"Are you sure about that, Conner?" The Flash asked. "I was gonna..."

"It's fine, Barry, I got this," Superboy said.

"All right," The Flash nodded.

Kara was standing on the balcony again about to call James when Barry walked up behind her.

"What are you doing, Kara?" he asked her.

"I'm calling James," Kara replied.

"Why?" Barry demanded.

"I need to know whether or not Lena has more kryptonite," Kara admitted.

"What?" Barry asked, looking at her in disbelief. "Don't tell me you're gonna use James to spy on Lena."

"I just need to verify her story and see if she's telling the truth," Kara said, defensively.

Barry snatched the phone from Kara's hand and she glared at him. Looking her hard in the eyes, he said, "Kara, you're about to cross a huge line, one that you may not be able to come back from and it will be a cold day in hell before I let that happen. I understand you're afraid that Lena has the one thing that is actually lethal to you but she did nothing to be a threat to you. All she's done was have your back every time she could." Barry paused for a moment before he continued. "Besides, since when is possessing kryptonite a crime? Remember when you and Earth-21 Clark were whammied by the Dominators last year? Or that time when you got exposed to red kryptonite and scared the whole city? You or Clark could've easily killed many people had no one been around to stop you guys. And let's not forget the Kryptonians you faced during your first year as Supergirl. Your Aunt Astra, that Non guy, and their army. So if anything, people having kryptonite in their possession is not always a bad thing when you think about what could happen if more rogue Kryptonians ever showed up or if you, Conner, or Clark were to ever be mind-controlled again." Barry sighed. "I can't believe that you of all people would even consider stooping so low that you would use your best friend to spy on another best friend, especially when both of them are in a relationship. Only someone as heartless as Thawne or Lex would do something like that and you're supposed to be much better than them. Think about it, Kara. I know you and I know for a fact that this is something you'll really regret if you go through with this."

Kara looked down in shame as she allowed Barry's words to sink in. For one thing, being compared to the likes of Lex Luthor or Eobard Thawne stung immensely.

"I think I know now what the Speed Force meant when it told me to save you from yourself," Barry said.

Kara frowned, confused. "Save me from myself? What do you mean?"

"Aside from helping you face the Worlkillers, the other mission the Speed Force tasked me with was to keep an eye on you and save you from yourself," Barry explained. "I wasn't going to bring this up until I felt it was necessary, but given the line you were about to cross, I figured right now is a good a time as any. The Speed Force warned me that something was going to happen and that it would lead to you to making a huge mistake which would destroy one of your friendships permanently. And that it was important I didn't let that happen."

"Why was it important?" Kara asked.

"So that you don't lose your way," Barry answered. "Just as the Speed Force helped me become a better person after I lost sight of who I was, I had to do the same for you and by extension this friend of yours."

Kara was silent for several moments, absorbing all that Barry had just revealed to her. One look into Barry's eyes and she knew he wasn't making all of this up. "When you say 'this friend', are you talking about Lena?"

"Well, the Speed Force didn't specifically say it was her since figuring that part out on my own was part of my test, but judging by what you were about to do, she's my guess," Barry said. "But even if I'm wrong and it wasn't Lena the Speed Force was referring to, do you really want to do something that will most likely cost you your friendship with her?"

Kara sighed, realizing the line she had almost crossed. She was going to stoop so low to the point she would be no different than the villains she'd fought. "Oh, God. What am I doing? I almost..." At that point, a tear rolled down her cheek and she wiped it away with her thumb. "You're right, Barry. I can't go through with this. I don't wanna lose Lena. And I don't lose myself."

"You won't," Barry said, as he put his hands on Kara's shoulder. "As long as you do the right thing, you'll keep your friendship with Lena and what makes you one of the best people I know."

"Thank you so much, Barry," Kara said, before pulling him into a hug, which he immediately returned. "You stopped me from doing what would've been one of the greatest mistakes of my life."

"I care about you too much to let you lose your way," Barry said, as he held Kara for a good minute before they let each other go.

(Legion ship)

Mon-El, Imra, and Brainy were setting up for the mission with Superboy helping them, while Tess, Alex, and Lena stood by waiting.

"Can I ask you something?" Alex asked Lena.

"You want to know why I didn't come to you when I found out what Sam really was," Lena said.

"I'm the one who did the first tests on her," Alex said. "And I'm the one that told her to come to her friends about her illness. So why not just tell me the truth?"

"Same reason you didn't tell me you were really D.E.O.," Lena countered.

"You knew," Alex pointed out.

"My mother's D.E.O. enemy number one, of course I knew," Lena said. "But that was your secret to keep. Just like Sam's true nature is hers. It wasn't my place to say anything."

"I can't disagree with her on that one," Tess said, and Lena threw her a grateful glance.

"Fair enough," Alex nodded in agreement. "Just tell me one thing. Is Ruby safe?"

"Yes," Lena nodded.

Supergirl and The Flash entered as the former asked, "How's it coming along?"

"The eclipse is diminishing your strength severely," Brainy explained. "I can send you into this dark valley, but adding the weight of three more minds to yours will weaken you further. Your biology is impressive, but even you weren't built to be an inter-dimensional portal."

"Mon-El," Supergirl called him, and he came over.

"What's up?" Mon-El asked, as he, Supergirl, and The Flash stepped away from Brainy.

"If this thing goes sideways, I need you both to promise me something," Supergirl said, looking at Mon-El and The Flash. "Pull Alex, Lena, and Conner out, but leave me in until I finish the mission."

"You heard Brainy, this could hurt you, this could kill you," Mon-El pointed out.

"We're not letting you die on our watch," The Flash added. "And knowing Alex, she'll kill us if we pulled her out and left you in there."

"Just tell her it was my idea," Supergirl said. "This is our only chance to save now or the future. This is all we've got. So promise me."

Mon-El and The Flash each let out a sigh at the difficult decision, but they both knew Supergirl well enough to realize she was not taking 'no' for an answer.

"I promise," Mon-El nodded, reluctantly.

"Barry?" Kara said, looking at him pointedly.

"Yeah, I promise," The Flash also nodded, with a heavy heart. "Let's just hope for the best."

(Few minutes later)

Supergirl, Superboy, Alex, and Lena were lying on the seats with white devices resting on their foreheads, while The Flash, J'onn, Winn, Tess, Brainy, Mon-El, and Imra stood before them.

"Once I induce transmission, your minds will be immediately beamed into this dark valley," Brainy explained.

"Is it gonna hurt?" Alex wondered.

"The chances are better than fifty percent," Brainy answered.

"That's comforting," Alex said, sarcastically.

"Really? I didn't think so," Brainy said. "Would you like me to count to three?"

"Will it help?" Lena asked.

"No, not at all," Brainy shook his head.

"Let's just get it over with," Supergirl said.

With that, Brainy tilted his head down and put his hands together as Supergirl, Superboy, Alex, and Lena appeared to fall asleep simultaneously.

(Juru Valley)

Supergirl, Superboy, Alex, and Lena each let out a gasp as they came to. They sat up, staring at their dark, foggy, and wooded surroundings.

"We're here," Supergirl noted.

They got to their feet and Alex went to break a few branches off a tree.

"This is..." Lena trailed off as she continued looking around curiously. "This is impressive."

"This is Juru," Supergirl said.

She, Superboy, and Lena turned to Alex, noticing the branches in her hands. "Are those for Sam and Julia?" Lena asked.

"It's for whatever might be around," Alex answered, as she walked over to them.

"I don't even know if anything here can get injured," Lena said, before Alex poked her a little roughly in the side with one of the sticks. "Ow."

"Yeah, we're good," Alex said, as she handed Supergirl, Superboy, and Lena each a branch while keeping the sharpest branch for herself. "This one. I like this one, it's mine."

"Thanks," Supergirl said.

She and Superboy poked themselves in the hand with the tip of their branches, wincing simultaneously as they did so.

"No powers in here," Superboy said, showing the women the small bleeding cut on his palm.

"Yep, this place bites," Supergirl added, also showing her palm with a similar cut.

Superboy noticed Grace Parker's corpse lying on the ground. "Look."

"Oh, my God," Alex said in horror.

"That's Grace," Supergirl noted.

"Who?" Lena asked, as she stepped up.

"She's the human form of one of the Worldkillers," Supergirl explained.

"She's dead," Lena said.

"Which means that we're running out of time with Sam and Julia," Alex said.

"Yeah, they headed in this direction," Supergirl said, pointing behind before she, Alex, Lena, and Superboy headed that way.

(Legion ship)

"Fifty-four minutes to totality," Brainy announced, as he, Tess, Winn, and Imra were at the console, while Barry, Mon-El, and J'onn were watching over Supergirl, Superboy, Alex, and Lena.

Barry and Mon-El looked concerned as Supergirl stirred her head and let out some gasps while unconscious. They and J'onn exchanged glances before Mon-El walked off.

Barry followed Mon-El into the corridor.

"Hey," Barry said, as the other man turned to him.

"She just looks so breakable," Mon-El replied.

"She's pretty strong," Barry pointed out. "All of them are."

"All I wanna do is pull her out," Mon-El said.

"I wanna do the same, but we can't," Barry said. "All we can do for now is be strong and hope all goes well."

"Yeah," Mon-El said. "You're a great guy, Barry. A better man than I ever was. Kara's really lucky to have a guy like you in her life, and if there is anyone I know who capable of making her happy, it's you."

"Thanks, Mon-El," Barry said, and the other man nodded.

(Juru Valley)

"You don't look so good," Alex said to Supergirl, who was exhausted as they, Superboy, and Lena strode through the valley.

"I'm just tired," Supergirl replied, panting. "Brainy said it'd be hard for me to carry all three of you in here. Is this what it's like when humans exercise? This is terrible. Why would you ever exercise?"

"One foot in front of the other," Alex instructed.

"It's fine," Supergirl continued to pant. She was tempted to make a remark about her exhaustion not being no worse than the effects of kryptonite, but the reminder of her conversation with Barry earlier made her realize that mentioning the green stuff around Lena wouldn't be a wise idea. Instead, she decided to take another approach. "Lena, I... I owe you an apology."

"For what?" Lena asked, frowning.

Supergirl sighed. "I may have overreacted earlier and I shouldn't have misjudged you for having kryptonite." She turned to Lena. "It's just that... I let my past experiences with kryptonite get the best of my emotions and... I just wanted to say I'm sorry." She paused for a moment. "A good friend reminded me of some things that I failed to take into consideration and he made some good points and... I'm sorry for not trusting you, especially since you've had my back so many times since we met."

"It's all right, I understand," Lena said, smiling appreciatively at Supergirl admitting her mistake. Maybe she would remain in the Girl of Steel's good graces after all. "Apology accepted."

"Thank you," Supergirl said. "As far as I'm concerned, our slate is clean." She held out her hand.

"I can work with that," Lena agreed, as she shook Supergirl's hand.

"Good," Supergirl smiled, glad she got that off her chest.

Her smile then faded as she, Alex, Lena, and Superboy heard a shrieking noise and looked around. They saw a couple of black blurs whiz past before a hooded ghostly figure with a demonic face materialized out of a cloud of smoke in front of them. The figure growled before disappearing a moment later.

"Uh oh," Superboy said.

Lena gasped. "What the hell was that?"

"The reason we have sticks," Alex said.

The blur whizzed past them again before the demonic figure once more appeared in front of them.

Alex threw her branch at the demon, causing it to dissipate.

"What was that?" Superboy wondered.

"That's a Kryptonian demon," Supergirl answered, as she remembered seeing them during the Fort Rozz mission a while back. "I've seen them before." She turned her head in a specified direction. "That's where they went. We're running out of time."

"I think I see something over there," Superboy said.

"That's gotta be an entrance," Alex said, as she, Supergirl, Superboy, and Lena headed in said direction.

A few minutes later, they arrived outside a cavern. Superboy grunted a bit as he opened the metal door to the cavern and held it open as Supergirl, Alex, and Lena entered. He closed the door once all four of them were inside. As they wandered through the cavern, the sound of a female voice whimpering got their attention. They headed to the source of the whimper and saw Julia Freeman sitting against the wall, her head slightly tilted down as she stared blankly.

"Julia," Supergirl said with concern, as they approached the woman. "Julia."

"Julia, it's Supergirl, Superboy, and Agent Danvers," Alex said. "Can you hear me?"

"We're here to help you, Julia," Superboy said.

Lena noticed some writings on the cavern walls, consisting of:

"MY NAME IS SAM"

"MY NAME IS JULIA"

"MY DAUGHTER IS RUBY"

As Lena wandered deeper in the cavern, she noticed Sam leaning against the wall, shivering and looking terrified. "Oh, God," Lena said in alarm, as she rushed over to Sam.

"I killed them," Sam murmured to herself.

"What?" Lena asked, as she knelt beside Sam.

"I killed them," Sam repeated. She opened her eyes and looked horrified upon seeing Lena. "You're here."

"Of course we're here, you think I'd forget about you?" Lena said, gently.

Sam also noticed Supergirl, Superboy, and Alex behind Lena and looked even more horrified. "Lena... Alex... Supergirl... Superboy..." she murmured in horror. "No..." She then broke down in tears. "I killed you too. I'm sorry."

"Sam, no," Supergirl assured her.

"We're not dead, Sam, we're here with you," Superboy added.

"We're here to help you," Alex then said.

"We're gonna get you out of here," Lena said as well.

"The people I killed are coming," Sam said in a haunted tone.

"Reign killed, not you," Supergirl corrected.

"We're gonna make sure Reign never hurts anyone again," Lena said.

"But, Sam, you have to wake up," Supergirl said. "You have to go back to your body and send us a message, tell us where the Worldkillers are."

"Don't let them in, they want me," Sam said, still looking haunted. "I killed them."

"Hey," Superboy said to Sam, as he knelt down in front of her. "Hey, none of this is your fault. It was all Reign. She's the one responsible for all those murders, not you. You had no control over Reign's actions. She's a separate entity."

"You're not a murderer," Supergirl added, before she suddenly groaned and collapsed against the wall.

"Hey, hey," Alex said, as she helped Supergirl up. "We have to get you out of here."

"No, not yet," Supergirl replied. "Not yet." She turned back to Sam, who was backing up against a wall. "Sam? We don't have much time. Come on, stay with us. Remember who you are."

"Hey," Lena neared Sam. "You are Sam Arias, okay? You're the woman I would trust with anything."

"You're good," Alex said.

"You have friends," Supergirl said.

"You're a fighter," Lena said.

"You're a mother," Alex said.

"Remember Ruby? Ruby's just waiting for you to come home," Lena said.

"Sam, you have to think of Ruby," Alex said.

"Ruby," Supergirl said.

"Remember Ruby?" Lena said.

"Ruby," Alex said.

"Ruby is your daughter, Sam," Superboy said. "She really misses you and wants you to come back to her. Ruby needs you."

Suddenly, Sam's eyes glowed red as she glared at the four of them. She then grabbed Lena by the throat and stood up as Lena struggled to breath.

"Let her go!" Supergirl yelled in horror.

"I'll break her neck!" Sam growled in Reign's voice.

Superboy sighed, wishing he had his powers to help Lena.

"Take me," Supergirl begged, more than willing to trade her life for Lena's. "Take me instead, please!"

"You," Sam snarled, again in Reign's voice as she glared at Supergirl. "You are nothing. You've always been nothing. Only one of equal strength can defeat me. You are driftwood in the face of a hurricane."

Sam turned back to Lena, preparing to snap her neck.

"No!" Supergirl cried out in horror.

Lena suddenly disappeared in Sam's grasp. Sam turned to Supergirl, Superboy, and Alex and watched as they disappeared too.

(Legion ship)

Supergirl, Superboy, Alex, and Lena woke up. The white devices were no longer on their foreheads.

"It worked?" Supergirl asked.

"Like a charm," Mon-El answered.

"Are we still talking about dark magic?" Brainy asked.

"You should rest some more," J'onn said to Supergirl, who got up.

"Since when has that ever stopped me?" Supergirl pointed out, with determination.

"But he's right," Barry told her. "Your powers are not at their full level right now."

"Neither are mine, but I'm not resting either," Superboy said, as he also got up.

"Let's go," J'onn instructed.

"Hey, hey, what about me?" Lena asked.

"Help Brainy," Supergirl instructed, before she headed off with the other heroes.

(Fortress of Sanctuary)

Supergirl, The Flash, Superboy, Tess, J'onn in his Martian form, Alex in a new black uniform, Mon-El, and Imra descended into the Worldkiller's Fortess. They stood opposite of Reign, Purity, and Pestilence.

Both sides rushed at each other as Supergirl and Superboy engaged Reign, J'onn and Tess took on Purity, and The Flash, Alex, Mon-El, and Imra dealt with Pestilence.

Purity unleashed her sonic scream up in the air, the blast hitting the Legion ship as Brainy, Winn, and Lena were working inside and causing it to tremble.

"You are weak," Reign snarled, after both Supergirl and Superboy had punched her in the face. Neither of the two heroes were at their full strength due to the eclipse still depleting their powers.

Reign threw a punch at Supergirl, but Supergirl caught Reign's arm and the two female Kryptonians flung each other into a wall. As Reign and Supergirl got back up, Superboy sped over to them and the fight continued. Supergirl and Superboy each threw several punches at Reign, who easily blocked all of them. Reign hit Supergirl with an uppercut, knocking her several feet back. Reign then swatted Superboy away, sending him crashing against the wall.

Alex appeared and fired a gun that emitted red sunlight radiation at Reign, knocking her to the ground as she groaned.

"Superboy and I got this," Supergirl said to Alex. "Check on the others."

Meanwhile, Tess knocked Purity down with a blast of air. Purity unleashed her scream, but Tess flew out of the way avoiding the blast. J'onn rushed at Purity and the two exchanged blows. Tess flew back down and punched Purity in the face as she joined J'onn in using hand-to-hand against the Worldkiller.

Across the way, The Flash hurled a lightning bolt at Pestilence, knocking her down. As Pestilence got back up, The Flash delivered dozens of high-speed punches to her chest, shoulders, abdomen, and back, discomforting her. Pestilence swung her arm to attack him, but The Flash vibrated as he avoided the hit. She was then punched in the face by Mon-El and, as Imra rushed at her, Pestilence kicked Imra to the ground.

"I don't think you know what you're becoming," Mon-El tried to get through to Pestilence.

"I've already become," Pestilence sneered. "I am death, and I choose you first!"

She lunged at Mon-El, but Mon-El hit her with an uppercut, knocking Pestilence straight up into the air. Mon-El and Imra flew up to Pestilence as they continued to engage her.

Purity unleashed another sonic scream, trying to attack J'onn only for him to phase through it as he rushed at her. A cyclone from Tess swept Purity off the ground before she was sent crashing into the wall. Purity got back up and unleashed her sonic scream on Tess, but Tess flew out of the way. Tess maneuvered behind Purity and punched her in the back twice, while J'onn punched Purity in the face. Purity elbowed Tess in a spin motion, sending Tess flying back, before turning back to J'onn. She caught J'onn's arm as he tried to punch her and punched J'onn in the abdomen. She then threw J'onn a few meters away and stalked towards him.

"Julia."

Purity stopped and turned around to see Alex pointing a gun at her.

"You're in there, I know it," Alex said, as Purity walked towards her. "Come on, you gotta rise up and help us."

Purity unleashed her scream at the same time Alex fired a blast of red sunlight radiation. The blasts clashed halfway, creating an impact that sent Alex and Purity flying back in opposite directions.

Supergirl and Reign were using heat vision against each other as their beams clashed halfway. Superboy fired his heat vision as well, his beam striking Reign in the chest as she was sent flying several feet back. As Reign got back to her feet, Superboy tried to charge at her, but stopped dead in his tracks as he realized he couldn't move at super-speed for some reason.

"My speed, it's..." Superboy trailed off in shock and horror.

"I can't use my heat vision," Supergirl said, also in shock and horror.

"The eclipse is full, no more powers," Reign smirked.

Supergirl threw a punch at her, but Reign caught her fist and clenched it before throwing Supergirl to the ground. Reign then punched Supergirl, knocking her many feet back. The only reason the Girl of Steel survived such a blow was because, while she and Superboy had lost access to the rest of their powers due to the eclipse, they retained a significantly weakened level of strength and durability.

Reign grabbed Superboy by the neck and lifted him up, choking him as he struggled to breathe. She then threw him away and Superboy landed near where Supergirl was on the ground. Reign sped over to them, preparing to finish the severely weakened Kryptonians off when a lightning bolt from The Flash staggered her forward.

Alex came to and saw Supergirl and Superboy on the ground not too far from where she was, and also saw Reign fighting The Flash and Tess as The Flash constantly vibrated to avoid her attacks, while Tess flew around firing cyclones at Reign. Alex reached out for her gun lying on the ground and, due to the magnet device on the palm of her uniform, the gun flew into her hand.

Up in the air, Pestilence threw Imra into Mon-El and the two fell to the ground. Pestilence then descended and helped Reign deal with The Flash and Tess.

Supergirl noticed Purity lying on the ground as the latter started coming to. "Julia."

"Julia, please, you can help us," Alex said, pleadingly. "Julia, rise up."

"Supergirl and I don't have our powers right now, Julia," Superboy added. "We could really use your help to stop Reign and Pestilence."

"You're still strong enough," Supergirl implored. "Help us."

Reign swatted The Flash with the back of her hand, knocking him into a wall, while Pestilence grabbed Tess, flew up, and threw her on the ground hard.

Julia managed to regain control of her body and glared at Reign. "What did you say before? That only one of equal strength can beat you?" Julia stood up as her eyes turned normal. "Come at me, witch!"

The assembled heroes watched as Julia unleashed her sonic scream at Reign and Pestilence. Pestilence flew up, avoiding the blast, while Reign was hit dead on as she fell to the ground.

As Pestilence descended behind Julia, Julia whirled around and Pestilence stabbed her in the abdomen with her claws. Julia cried out in pain and Pestilence then stabbed her in the neck while Julia grabbed Pestilence's arm with both hands as the heroes watched the two Worldkillers in horror.

"I always knew you were weak," Pestilence sneered.

Julia unleashed her scream directly in Pestilence's face and kept screaming for several seconds until both Worldkillers collapsed to the ground, dead.

"No!" Reign screamed, angry and horrified that her allies were dead.

"No!" Supergirl cried out, as she, Superboy, The Flash, Alex, and Tess rushed over to Julia.

"Julia," The Flash called out, before turning to the others. "She's not gonna make it."

"I'm so sorry," Alex apologized.

A bright white light escaped from Julia's body, while a bright yellow light did the same from Pestilence's body. A moment later, the two bodies disintegrated into nothingness.

"She did it," Imra said to Mon-El in an eager tone. "She did it. Pestilence is dead."

As the white and yellow lights flowed into the air, there was a rumbling noise and everyone looked up as debris started raining down. Everyone then saw the lights flow down into Reign, entering her body as she let out a scream. Once Reign absorbed all the light, she flew away.

"That's not good," Superboy muttered.

"Let's get the hell out of here," J'onn instructed.

He grabbed Alex, while Supergirl grabbed The Flash before they, Superboy, Tess, Mon-El, and Imra flew out of the Fortress of Sanctuary and into the Legion ship above. As soon as the heroes were inside of it, the Legion ship took off as the moon moved away from the sun in the sky and the Fortress below collapsed completely before all the pieces of it disappeared leaving only an empty desert.

(D.E.O.)

Supergirl and Superboy flew into the D.E.O. and descended next to J'onn, The Flash, Alex, Tess, and Winn.

"The Fortress is gone, like it was never there," Supergirl said. "Stone turned to sand."

"Not to mention that Reign is gone too," The Flash said.

"And untraceable," Alex added.

"You know that eclipse ended as soon as the Fortress was destroyed," J'onn said.

"We got rid of two out of the three Worldkillers," Winn pointed out. "Like, that's a win."

"And we'll find Sam, somehow," Alex said.

"I know," Supergirl said, before taking a look at her sister's new suit. "Hey, hey, uh, cool new suit!"

"Winn did me a solid," Alex said.

"Yes, upgrades," Winn said, as he and Alex fist-bumped each other.

"Well, I'd been asking the Director of the D.E.O. for one for years, but I just kept getting denied," Alex said, looking at J'onn.

"Blame it on Congress, I don't write out budgets," J'onn said. "Besides, don't you miss your polo? It looked like it was sweat-wicking."

"I have a really cool new gun," Alex warned, playfully. "Don't think it won't work on you."

"Don't shoot," J'onn said, jokingly.

Supergirl noticed Lena walking towards the exit and approached her. "Hey, Lena."

Lena stopped and turned to her. "Nice work back there."

"Yeah, you weren't so bad yourself," Supergirl nodded.

"Yeah, we couldn't save Sam," Lena said, sadly.

"But we saved Julia," Supergirl pointed out. "And if Julia can overcome the demons inside of her, then Sam has a chance too."

"I hope you're right," Lena said, before leaving.

Suddenly, a whirring noise got Supergirl's attention as she turned around and saw a light blue portal open in the middle of the headquarters.

J'onn, Alex, and several agents pointed their guns at the breach, while Barry, Conner, Tess, and Winn stared at it wondering who was about to come through.

Everyone watched as a blonde woman in a red and blue suit consisting of a long overcoat and pants with a very familiar red 'S' symbol on her chest stepped out of the breach. An extrapolator device was in her hand.

"Kara," Tess said in surprise.

"You guys can put the guns down," Superboy said to Alex and J'onn. "It's my cousin Kara from mine and Tess' Earth."

Having met the newcomer before, J'onn lowered his gun, while Alex and the agents kept their guns pointed at the woman.

"It's okay, Alex, it's your sister's counterpart from Earth-21," Barry assured her.

Alex lowered her weapon too and waved to the agents to do the same.

Supergirl approached Kara Kent with a smile. "Kara, hey."

"Hey, Danvers, how's it going?" Kara K asked.

"We're okay," Kara D answered. "Not that I'm not thrilled to run into another version of myself, but what brings you to our Earth? Do you need help with something on yours?"

"Not at all," Kara K shook her head. "There hasn't been much to do on my Earth, which is why I had Kal-El lend me his inter-dimensional device so I could drop by here and see how my doppelganger is doing."

"If you came here to stay for a while and help us fight a supervillain, you came just at the right time," Kara D said. "You remember Reign, right?"

"Yeah, the Kryptonian we encountered while we were at that Fort Rozz place a couple of months ago," Kara K said.

"We've already defeated the other two Worldkillers, Purity and Pestilence, but we still have Reign to go," Kara D explained. "And given how much stronger you are than me, my cousin, and probably even Reign herself, you being here will be a great help. I think two Supergirls will be too much for even her to handle."

"I can't wait to show this Reign what I'm capable of," Kara K said, before she and Kara D walked over to the others.

"You've already met J'onn and Winn the last time you were here," Kara D said, before pointing to Alex. "This is my adopted sister Alex Danvers."

"Nice to meet you," Kara K said to her counterpart's sister.

"You too," Alex said, as she and Kara K shook hands. "I can't believe you're a version of Kara. She did mention that you weren't an identical counterpart, but seeing you in-person is a different experience than just hearing about it."

"I know what you mean," Kara K said, before turning to Conner and Tess and giving them each a hug.

She then greeted and shook hands with Barry, J'onn, and Winn.

"If you want, you're welcome to stay with me in my apartment while you're on this Earth," Kara D offered.

"Sure," Kara K nodded. "And if anyone asks, my name is Linda Lee."
