I hadn't seen Julian all morning and I knew that he was busy with everything he had to do, plus any additional studying, and most likely hadn't eaten. That tended to happen when he was caring for some of the people in this part of town. I pack a basket full of some food for us, with some assorted meat slices, cheeses and bread. I grabbed a couple apples for him to keep on his desk for later as well. I felt something pull me back to my medicinal cabinet and I found myself grabbing some different bottles. One was for pain relief and the other was a scent specific for relaxation. I hummed to myself as I tucked them in. Perhaps Julian was struggling and needed my help. I step out and call out to Asra in the other room.
"I'm headed to Julian's. I'll be back in a little bit." I say and I hear Asra call back and he appears in the doorway.
"Alright be safe on the way up." He tells me, his purple eyes hiding the barest amount of concern. I wouldn't expect anything less.
I give him a nod. "I promise that I'll be careful." I agree, and he gives a small hum before relaxing.
Faust slithers closer to me and lifts her head.
"Kiss?" She asks and I laugh and lean down and kiss the top of her head and gently pet her head. She hisses happily and then tilts her head at me.
"Kiss him?" With that, I laugh, pretending to be shocked, knowing who she is talking about.
"Faust, what kind of question is that? Of course, I'm going to give Julian a kiss." I tease.
She just seems so amused with herself and I shake my head as I walk to the door. "Alright, you guys, goodbye! I'll be back later."
I close the door to the shop and use runes to lock it for safety and I walk to Mazelinka's, where I know Julian's room is. I knock on the door and don't hear an answer and I come in and close the door. "Julian?" I call and I don't hear an answer so I keep walking and crack open the door, stopping as I see Julian slumped at his desk.
I would have thought he was asleep, except for the stiff set to his shoulders. I come in and close the door quietly and turn down the lamp he had, the flame becoming smaller. I walk to him and gently place a hand on his.
"Julian, love. What's wrong?"
He tilts his head to the side, his eye registering me and it closes. "Head hurts." He says simply and I suddenly understand why I felt to bring the medical items.
"Alright. Well, let's get you out of your coat and jacket, and into bed okay? This desk won't help anything." I gently instruct and help him sit up, his head resting on my stomach, as his eye stay closed. He hadn't had a bad headache like this in a while, and I was very grateful that I was here for this one.
He lets me slide off his large coat, and the jacket underneath, leaving him in just his linen shirt. I stand with him and we walk to his bed, and I gently ease his head onto the pillow. His eye squeezes shut in pain as we move and I make a soothing sound in the back of my throat.
I slip off his boots and cover him in a very light blanket before moving to the basket and pulling out the vial of potion. I unstop the cork and pull bring the glass of water on his desk closer as well. I slip a hand under his neck and help him lift his head just enough to place the lip of the vial at his lips. They part enough to allow the potion to flow down his throat, and he grimaces at the harsh taste and I immediately help him drink some water to wash it down.
I know the potion is going to take a moment, so I slip off his eyepatch and lay it on the table, allowing me access to his full face, his red eye hidden from view. I place a kiss on his forehead, and he whispers. "I'm sorry...it just showed up and I didn't want to get anything for it once it started."
I give him an affectionate smile that his closed eyes can't see and I kiss his nose and forehead. "Oh, it is so alright. I want to do this for you. I'm sorry you're not feeling good. That potion should help soon. I have some lotion that will help as well."
I get out the small container and lift the lid, and swipe some onto my fingers and I gently move it around to warm it up. When it is, I gently rub it into his cheeks and start up his temples.
A groan leaks out of his lips, a mix of relief and pain it seemed, and I carefully watch his expression as I work up his temples and across his forehead, my fingers insistent but gentle as I work the lotion into his skin. As I'm working on his jaw, his eyes flicker open and land on my face, and they seem a little clearer.
"Hey." I say happily and the corner of his lips quirk up and I know he's doing a little better.
"Hey, yourself." He replies and I comb his hair out of his face, and get enough lotion for one more pass over his face. When I'm nearly finished, he tries to sit up a little and I'm stubborn as I keep a hand on his shoulder. "Julian. Just close your eyes. Let me take care of you. Please. You need this. Then we can have some lunch together."
He presses against my hand for a moment longer before laying back with a sigh worthy of the theater, quiet as it is. "Alright." He relents and right before he closes his eyes, he gives me a tiny wink. "I love you."
My heart warms and I lean down and press a gentle kiss to his lips and the thought of Faust's question makes me smile a little. "I love you too." I whisper and I quickly finish rubbing in the remainder of the lotion. Eventually he is able to open his eyes completely and I join him and snuggle close to him and enjoy the simple lunch I brought, grateful to be with the man I love.
