Chapter 1

"Expect temperatures in the lower 20s next week..." the weatherman was saying from the radio as Lucy Ricardo was busy cleaning up Little Ricky's latest mess. The baby was finally learning to pull himself up on the coffee table and discovering how fun it was to grab the contents on the surface. Today he decided that grabbing Lucys glass of Milk would be fun. She wasn't quick enough and before she knew it Ricky and the carpet had been drenched. After changing him into a clean outfit she had been on her hands and knees for the last ten minutes trying to get the milk soaked up out of the carpet.

"Expect another half a foot of snow before this system finally decides to move more east.."

Lucy stood up and sighed as she turned off the radio and looked outside the window. It had been snowing for the past week and showed no signed of stopping. Already a good 2ft had fallen and it looked like a blizzard outside. Being stuck inside was starting to take its toll, she truly understood the phase of winter blues. She perked up a little remembering she had a hair appointment today and would be able to leave the apartment.

She turned back to Little Ricky and smiled as he once again begin to pull himself up.

"Oh no you don't" She smiled as she picked the baby up and headed towards the bedroom. "Time for your nap sweatheart." Lucy layed the child in his crib and pulled the covers up over him. She smiled as the little boy yawned and rubbed his eyes and walked quietly out of the room shutting door behind her.

Hearing the phone ring she picked it up "Hello?" She smiled at the familier voice of her laten husband on the other end.

"Hi hunny, I just called to let you know i'm goin to be working late tonight, some of the boys was late this morning and we have alot of work today to get ready for this weekends show..."

"Awe Ricky, you've been working late all week. I miss you" she pouted

"I know baby I miss you to, but with the weather the way it is we're lucky to get in the hours of rehearsal we do..."

Lucy sighed and hugged the phone. "Okay Ricky..."

"Look Lucy I also called to let you know the weather is going to get alot worse, so I want you and Little Ricky to stay inside unless its a emergency."

Just then her front door opened and her best friend/landlord Ethel Mertz come strolling into the room wearing a big fur coat looking like a bear ready to hybernate for the winter.

"But Ricky...I have a hair appointment today, I haven't been out of the apartment all week..."

"Well your just going to have to cancel it."

"But..."

"Lucy don't argue with me! Now promise me you will stay inside." Ricky said in a firm tone.

Lucy sighed knowing it was hopeless to argue with Ricky when he took that tone. "Yes sir."

Ricky sighed as well "Look Lucy, I know being stuck inside is starting to get to you but I can work alot better knowing you and the baby are safe."

Lucy smiled. She knew the only reason Ricky was so overprotective was because he Loved them.

"I love you Ricky"

"I love you to hunny. I'll see you tonight"

Lucy hung up the phone and turned to Ethel who had helped her self to a cup of coffee and was settling down on the sofa.

"What was that about?" Ethel asked taking a sip of the coffee.

"Oh nothing, Ricky just made me promise I wouldn't leave the apartment unless it was a emergency. Ethel where did you get that thing? She motioned towards the coat. "It looks like your fixing to crawl into a cave and sleep until spring"

Ethel rolled her eyes and pulled the jacket closer to her body. "This thing happens to be the warmest jacket I could find. Have you seen outside? If it doesn't stop snowing soon I'm gonna make Fred sale the apartment building and move to Florida"

Lucy nodded understanding where she was coming from. Florida sounded like heaven to the weather they have had lately.

"Where are heading anyway?" Lucy asked as she eyed the coat and picked up the soaked towel she used earlier to clean up the babys mess.

"Downtown, old Fred decided he wants chicken for dinner tonight and since the grocer isn't delivering at the moment due to the weather it's up to poor me to make it to the store and back without getting frostbite. I just came up to see if I could get you anything while I'm down there." she said sipping her coffee slowly.

"No thanks doll, Ricky made sure we stocked up on everything at the first snowflake so we should be okay for the next week or so." Lucy replied with a small sigh.

"I wish Fred would pry open his pocket book and let me stock up. It's getting tiresome going downtown every other day in this weather" Ethel said pulling her coat closer to her body. She stood up and headed for the door.

"Hey wait" Lucy replied grabbing on to Ethels arm and turing her around. "Why not let me go downtown for you and you stay here with Little Ricky? I have a hair appointment anyway, I can stop by the store on my way back."

"I don't know Lucy, didn't Ricky just say you couldn't leave the apartment unless it was a emergacy?"

"Yes" Lucy repiled heading towards the closet to grab her coat and scarf. "And this my dear friend is a emerency, why if you don't get that chicken poor Fred may die of hunger, besides if I don't get out of this apartment i'm going to go crazy."

"Lucy..."

"Ethel don't worry, Ricky has to work late tonight so I'll be back in plenty of time."

Ethel sighed and handed Lucy some money. "You better be."

Lucy walked out of the apartment while Ethel just shook her head.
