If anyone would describe Bevin Connor's time in the afterlife, they certainly wouldn't say it was blissful and content, as it should be.

In fact, Connor was spending his days ( or however time works in the afterlife ) wasting away in the corner of his environment, which was now his home.

In the afterlife, you get a piece of land that will decorate itself and its geography to suit it to your likings, for Heaven is your reward for a good life.

Connor, to others, in nothing short of a traitor. But few know better.

In the end, he sacrificed his life to his country, and Jaron, the boy he hated more than anything.

He was not a traitor to his son, who he protected all through his years. To whom he gave all his possessions and secrets. But of course, that meddlesome boy now knew them too.

Connor found he didn't care. He was not an angel, and he had committed many murders, but good came out of it, right?

That sounded wrong.

He was not perfect, and he would not act. Four years ago, Sage had asked him a question. Not Jaron, the king. Sage, the orphan.

He had said that he was getting tired of lying, and asked himself if he felt the same way. Then, Connor had answered with a musing which said that if anything, you should never be tired of the lie.

He was mistaken. Heavily mistaken. He was now tired of the lie.

Connor would now tell the truth to himself.

I was a terrible man. I killed, and did not regret one bit of it. I still don't. But through the last couple of years, I have changed, and have grown to care for the boy.

That's right.

I care for the boy who brought the devils' attention to my life.

While other souls' areas were joyful, and filled with loved ones and objects, Connor's was bleak, and he finally realized why.

Unless he saw for himself, how Jaron, Tobias and Roden were, he would never attain peace.

So he journeyed over to the borders of the afterlife and waited. Finally, he passed through the archway and felt very, very, cold.

Then, when the feeling subsided, Connor drifted down to Carthya in the form of a ghost.

I know, it's short. What can I do? The next four chapters will be longer. One for each of the three boys.
