PREGNANT
Quinn couldn't believe her eyes. She closed her eyes and silently began sobbing. KNOCK KNOCK. "Quinnie are you okay in there?" Quinn quickly put the test back into the box and hid it before opening her bathroom door. "I'm fine Dad. Just period cramps."
He held up his hands and walked back slowly. "Never mind then." Walking into her room Quinn puts on her uniform and walks out of the house into her car. When she pulled up to school she put on her signature bitch face and walked into school.
Standing at her locker Quinn got the necessary items needed for her first period when Finn turns down the hallway. "Quinn! Quinn. Hey, what's with the silent treatment? Whatever I did, I'm sorry." She turns the corner and allows him to catch up with her. "I'm pregnant." Finn lost in his thoughts ignores her next work but speaks up when she's finished.
"Mine?" Taken aback Quinn frowns. "Yes, you. Who else's would it be? It happened in the hot tub last month." Quinn starts sobbing and lays her head on his shoulder. "I really thought I had a shot at getting out of here!"
Sam slowly walks up the stairs but stops when his mom appeared at the bottom. "Where the hell have you been?" Sam tosses his head back and turns around. Reaching the ground he looks at her and can smell the alcohol on her breath. "Mom are you drunk?"
BAM
Retracting back Sam looks at her rubbing his cheek. "I thought you stopped drinking?"
BAM
This time a punch and it knocked him on the ground. "I'm the parent. I ask the questions. Now where the hell were you?" He glares and he hissing from the cut on lip. "Out!" Sam knows he crossed the line because her eyes went dark.
She starts beating on him and he blocked it out until she got tired. "Get out of my sight. NOW!" Sam runs to his room and opens the window. He steps out onto the tree and crouches down to avoid hitting the leaves. Opening Mercedes' window he steps in and sits on her bed waiting for her to walk into the room.
Looking down into his lap Sam closes his eyes. "Sam." Looking up he smiled slightly and stood. "No sit." Sitting back down he watched Mercedes grab the first aid kit and do their ritual. "I've been saving money and soon I'll have enough to leave. You won't have to do this anymore. I promise."
"Sam."
"No, you don't have to tell me I know it's not my fault even though sometimes it is because I did tempt her this time." Lowering his head all he could do was cry.
Mercedes' POV
Rolling my eyes I watched Quinn and Finn sing until she ran out. While the conversation went on. I tried to think about what could possibly be wrong with her. "Can we talk about the giant elephant in the room?"
Santana looked at him and smirked. "Your sexuality?" I zoned out and waited for Mr. Schue to dismiss us.
Walking into the bathroom I pulled myself onto the counter and waited for Quinn to walk out the stall. "When you due?" Her head snapped up and she looked around nervously. "There's no one else in here. I checked first." She sighed and stood next to me sobbing. "What am I going to do?"
I smiled at her and turned my body slightly. "Live your life. Keep doing what you're doing and when everyone finds out; you'll have the whole Glee Club stand beside you. Even me. Being pregnant and sixteen doesn't stop your life. Trust me on this. My mom had my brother at your age. She and my dad got married at 25 and had me. She's a lawyer, has her own firm and he's a dentist. You'll be okay; I promise."
Hopping down I put my hand on her arm. "If you need anyone to talk to, I'm here. I'll see you at practice." Walking out of the bathroom, I spot Sam talking to some of my Cheerios. Leaning against the lockers I began to listen to their conversation. "Sam you should really leave Mercedes. I mean, I love her; she's one of the best captains we've had but I know her. She's not putting out is she?" Sam chuckled and let her continue.
"I know she isn't. Matter of fact, don't leave. We can do it on the side. I won't tell." Walking closer I leaned on the locker right behind them. "You know what let me tell it to you straight. I love Mercedes more than life itself and if you really want someone you could ask Mercedes."
I took that as my queue and wrapped my arm around her shoulder. "Hey, Cathy. What you are guys talking about? Don't answer that. Hey baby." I hugged him and he threw his arm around my shoulder.
"Thanks for the offer Cat but I'm okay," I smirked and she frowned. "It's Cathy." He shrugged and pulled me closer. "C'mon, I'll walk you to class." I smiled and looked back at Cathy. I winked at her and turned back.
KNOCK KNOCK
I lifted my head from Sam's lap and walked to the door. "Quinn?" She smiled through her tears but dropped them as soon as her eyes met mine. "I need someone to talk to. Does your offer still stand?" I nodded and stepped aside. "Yeah, come on in." I closed the door behind her and walked to the couch and hit Sam on his head. "Go to sleep in my room. I'll wake you up when Stevie and Stacy get home." He nodded drowsily and walked up the stairs.
"I don't know what to do. I can't tell my parents cause they will kill me if I do and umm." She looked down and she started sobbing even more. "Okay Quinn breath and tell me."
She looked up at me and wiped her eyes. "The baby is not Finn's." My eyes widen. 'WHAT?!" She nods and keeps going. "It's Puck's. I got drunk off of wine coolers and it just happened. Finn believed me when I said it happened in a hot tub when we didn't even have sex."
"Wow. so what are you going to do." She nods and starts rubbing her stomach. "I don't know. I don't have it in my heart to break it to Finn. PLEASE PLEASE don't tell him or anyone." I looked at her breaking down in front of me again. "Hey, hey, I won't."
"I really appreciate this. Even after everything I've done to you. And I keep crying and I'm not even sad right now. Just happy. Ugh, these hormones." I open my arms and she lays her head on my shoulder.
After she left I walked upstairs and laid next to Sam who was wide awake on my laptop. "Couldn't go back to sleep huh?" He shook his head and closed the top. "Nah I was worried. I know how Quinn can be." I laughed and turned on my side with my head on my hand. "She's not bad when you get to know her. Anyway. What are you doing Friday night." He shrugged and turned on his side mimicking my position. "Nothing. Why?"
"On Friday we have an invitational." He smiled and pulled me close to him. "I'll be there. Tell me the time and place." I smiled at climbed onto him and kissed him. "Really?" He pulled back. "Of course whenever."
"Where's April?" We shrugged and continued talking. "Yee-haw! Right on cue, as usual. Hey, roller-boy. Handsome. Oh, I like that color." Mr. Schue frowned. "Are you drunk? You promised me you'd sober up for this."
"When? Last night? Well, I was drunk. You can't hold me to that. C'mon, let's warm-up."
After the first song, we changed and waited for Mr. Schue to come back in.
"They loved us! We're a hit." He gave Artie a faint smile but it dropped at Tina's question.
"Wh...Wh...Where's April?" Kurt smiled at him with wide eyes. "You were right, Mr. Shue. She'd massacre Mariah in a diva-off."
"April is amazing. But she's not in the glee club anymore." We all frowned and let him continue. "It... I, uh... I screwed up bringing her here. It was about me and Glee Club is supposed to be about you guys. You don't need her to be great."
I glared and crossed my arms "But we need her for the second act."
He shook his head and smiled slightly. "I'll just have to go out there and tell them we had to cut the show short." We all sighed heavily.
"Hey, guys. You were great. Don't worry." I watch Rachel walk in behind him. Not noticing he continued.
"There will be other performances." Rachel interrupted before he could speak on. "Excuse me? I think I might have a solution. In show business, when a star can't perform, her understudy steps in. I'd be happy to go in for April if you'd let me." I scoffed and raised my hand.
"Since when are you willing to be an understudy?" She smiled at me. "Since I quit the play." We all shared shocked looks and let her continue.
"I realized being a star didn't make me feel as special as being your friend. If I'd let you down when you needed me the most, I'd never forgive myself. I know all the words to the song."
Quinn smirked and glared. "You don't know the choreography." Santana nods in agreement. "Then we're going to have to give her a lot of help out there." I watch Quinn glare at Finn which confuses me considering she cheated on him.
"Go get in your costume." We all cheered and clapped.

Mercedes' POV
"So, Quinn is officially off the cheerios and Puck's the father of her baby?" I nodded and looked at him. "Yup and I may or may not have let it slip to Santana during Cheerios practice that the baby's not Finns."
Sam looked at me and crossed his arm. "Mercedes."
"I know. I didn't mean to. Now the whole club knows. I feel terrible." I put my hands in my head and started shaking my head. "Ugh what am I going to do?"
He takes a sip of his smoothie and grabbed my hands from my face. "Did you tell Rachel?" I shook my head hard. "Good. She's a babbler mouth. All you can do is just hope Quinn will tell Finn the truth before anyone does." I nodded and stood up. "Let's get out of here.
"Yes, girl. I can't figure out the last routine for the competition next week. I'm losing my mind." Santana looked at me and shrugged. "Well I mean I know I'm a bitch but your probably one of the best captains I've ever had and I'm glad to be your co-captain. If you ever need any help with the routine; I'm your gal." Before I could respond Mr. Schue walked in.
"All right, guys. We're doing a new number for Sectionals. I know that pop songs have sort of been our signature pieces, but I did a little research on past winners, and it turns out that the judges like songs that are more accessible. Stuff they know. Uh, standards, Broadway."
I nudged Kurt with my knee and when he looked back, I nodded.
"'Defying Gravity'? I have an iPod shuffle dedicated exclusively to selections from Wicked. This is amazing."
"Yup. Think you can handle it, Rachel?" I rubbed his shoulder and sat back. "On to item two. The school won't pay for the special bus we need to take Artie and his wheelchair with us to sectionals."
"W-w-what?!"
"That's completely unfair."
"So, we're going to have to raise money to pay for it ourselves. See, when I was in glee club, and we needed new silk cummerbunds for regionals, we held a bake sale." We all laughed. I looked at Santana when she started speaking. You're joking, right? I mean, bake sales are kind of bougie." I nodded in agreement.
I rolled my eyes as they continued talking about it. Before finally speaking "Can't Artie's dad just take him?"
"I can't believe how insensitive you're all being. Are you a team?"
"Of course. But Artie understands, don't you, Artie?"
"Oh… Of course. I-It's cool. Anything that takes away our time from rehearsing doesn't serve the team."
The bell rung and we all walked out.
Nobody's POV
Artie bent down struggling to tie his shoe when Mr. Schue walked up. "Let me help you out, buddy." He smiled and him rubbing his arms.
"Thank you."
"Hey, I'm really sorry about how they all reacted, Artie."
Artie shrugged "Oh, it's okay. I'm used to it. They just don't get it… Can I use the auditorium this afternoon to rehearse, Mr. Schue? Some of the band equipment's in there." Mr. Schue nodded "Sure."
Mercedes' POV
I was arguing with Kurt to try and audition for the solo. "Mercedes. No. I don't want to talk about it anymore." Mr. Schue walked in and I stood up.
"Mr. Schue, Kurt has something to say." I sat back down and pushed him to a standing position. He glared at me.
"I want to audition for the wicked solo." We all cheered lightly. "Kurt, there's a high F in it."
"That's well within my range."
"OOHHH!"
"Well, I think Rachel's going to be fine for the female lead, but I'm happy to have you try out something else, Kurt. And we'll make sure it's got a killer high note." Kurt sat back down and glared at me before scooting his chair over. I sighed and looked back at Mr. Schue.
"Anyway, I wanted to say something to you guys. I was a little disappointed at how you were all so willing to take the bus to get to sectionals and make Artie drive by himself with his dad. We're a team, guys. We're in this glee club together."
"Artie doesn't care. His dad drives him everywhere." I said
"I do care. It kind of hurt my feelings."
"We didn't think you would take it personally."
"Well, you're irritating most of the time, but don't take that personally." I covered my mouth and looked at him.
"I don't know if you guys really understand how much harder Artie has to work just to keep up. We're riding to sectionals together. Or we're not going at all. And to pay for the bus, we're having a bake sale." We all groan and drop our heads back.
"St. Ignatius nursing home was having a tag sale, and my AV club friends here agreed to help out. For the next week, each of you is going to spend three hours a day in a wheelchair." My jaw dropped.
"We're also doing a wheelchair number at sectionals."
Rolling down the hallway in my wheelchair I see Sam and roll up to him. I pinched his ass when I reached him. I watched him look around before turning back to his locker. "Down here." He looks down at me and smirked. He closed his locker and leaned against it.
"What is this? Last time I saw you which was an hour ago I'm about 99.9% you were walking." I sighed and crossed my leg. "Glee club lesson. For Artie. They won't pay for the handicap bus to take him to sectionals and when he first told us he also told us that he wanted us to do a bake sale to pay for it but we said no and he told us how disappointed he was in us and now we have to be in a wheelchair three hours every day this week, run a bake sale, and we're doing a wheelchair number at sectionals." He grabbed my handles and started rolling me down the hallway.
"That's nice of him. I really like Artie, he's cool and he doesn't let his disability define him. I can help you with the cupcakes." I shook my head and looked up at him when we stopped at my class. "I'll see you later babe." I rolled in but bumped into another wheelchair.
"Hey, Quinn." She smiled at me and went back to talking to the teacher.
A week later
"Twelve hundred dollars. That's enough for the show bus and two cases of Natty Light for the ride home." We all laughed and applauded. "Dream on buddy. I'm very proud of you guys. Artie… Why don't you bring this to Principal Figgins yourself?" He brings Artie the money and we all cheer again but Artie. "What's wrong dude?"
He looks at the money and sighs "I really appreciate what you guys did for me, but I'm not the only kid in a wheelchair at this school. And I'm sure there will be others after I graduate. And I know how important it is for all of us to go to sectionals together, but I think I'd rather just get a ride from my dad and use this for a handicapped ramp in the auditorium."
"Objections?" We all shake our heads and smile at Artie.
Pulling my suspenders up over my yellow shirt I walk to the mirror and part my hair putting it into two low ponytails. "Let's go guys." We walk out of the bathroom and meet up with the boys who were in similar attire. Yellow shirt and blue jeans with suspenders. "Well damn. Look at you." I turn around with a smile.
"I'll meet you guys in the auditorium." When they all walked away, I walked up to Sam and wrapped my arms around his neck. "What are you doing here?" He pulled me to him closer and leaned down. "Well, I heard from this one girl. Cheerleader, short, and a fine as hell that the glee club was doing a wheelchair number for a friend of mine Artie Abrams and I just had to see her again."
I threw my head back laughing. "Really? Well, can the fine girl get a kiss?" He leaned down the rest of the way and our lips met. As we begin making out, I felt my hair being pulled. "Wheezy! Let's go. We're not going to wait forever." I turned around and glare at Santana before turning back around and pecked his lip before pulling away and following Santana.
When we reached the doors, I looked back and winked before Santana yanked me into the auditorium and sat me in my wheelchair. "Okay. She's here let's do it." Rolling into our positions Finn rolled himself to the top. "This is for you Artie."

We got as close as possible and cheered but I was out of breath. "How do you do it?" We laughed and waited for Mr. Schue.
"I'm so proud of you guys. We got Artie ramps and we also are able to get the bus and Artie tell your dad to take a break because you're riding with us."
"YEAH!" "Okay, guys you're good to go. I'll see you guys tomorrow."
"Ugh. This is absolutely ridiculous. He makes me sick. He gets Quinn pregnant and sits in Finn's face knowing damn well that he's the father of that baby." I toss my head back over the couch. "Baby. You will be okay. It's just a week."
"No, I won't. Then he has the audacity to sit and flirt with me like I'm not with you he knows that. He's your "friend" and he's trying to get into my pants." I pick up my head and see him grinning. "What's so funny?"
"Nothing." He then burst out laughing and I glared at him.
"Okay okay, I'm sorry. Now history. Can you help me?" I nodded and tied my hair up. "Of course."
Before we started he stops me though. "Hold on you helping me or you trying to get freaky?" I tilt my head and form my lips into a thin line. "Kidding."
After about 5 hours we finished. "Ugh, I hate this." I turn towards him and put our books down. "Hate what?" He started tearing up. "Being dyslexic. I feel so stupid. I'm not as smart as everyone." I grabbed his face and wiped his tears. "Don't say that Sam. You're smart as hell and if anyone tells you any different, I'll be right there to beat their ass. Dyslexia is not who you are it's what you have, and it doesn't define you in any way."
"I live in a hell hole next door and I don't know if I'll be able to get my brother and sister out if I can't even pass history."
"Sam Dwight Evans. You're going to get out of that house along with Stevie and Stacy and you're going to do it after you PASS history and every class on your schedule. You hear me?" He nodded and wrapped his arms around my waist pulling me on his lap. "I love you."
"I love you too."
Sam's POV
"Sam Evans." I stood up and walked into the room. "Your filling for emancipation, right?" I nodded and crossed my arms. "My dad left and my mom she uhh. She hits me. She drinks and drinks. When she's drunk, she finds ways to hit me and I have to get so I can get my brother and sister out. I have a job. I'm an assistant at a dentist's office so I have a lot of money saved and can provide for myself and them. My girlfriend's parents are willing to help me by watching them, but I'll be paying for everything myself. I have my own car and I just need this to get approved to get my own apartment. I already found a place willing to let me rent they just need my forms from a judge."
I watched her sign the forms and hand them over to me. "Sam Dwight Evans. I hear-by pronounce you an adult. I'm trusting you to stick by what you say. In a month you and your mom will be attending family court where you will be able to tell your side and have a chance to tell your story." I stood up and shook her hand tearing up. "Thank you."
I walked out of the courthouse to my car. "So, how'd it go?"
I walked up next to her and leaned against the car next to Mercedes. "Unfortunately for me. I can't look out my window to see my sexy as girlfriend and have to see her at school or when she comes to my brand-new apartment."
"AHH! She signed it."
"Yup. I have to wait a month for family court to try and get custody of the twins, but it'll most likely go my way. I have evidence but now I just need a lawyer and a good one." I opened the door for her and when she got it I closed it and ran around to my side. "Well, you're in luck because I know one of the best lawyers in the country who actually lives under the same roof as me and she agreed to help you out."
"Well then, now that everything is settled let's go get my apartment." I opened the door for her and ran around to the other side.
"Sign here. Here. Initial here and here. Finally, sign here. You're in luck Mr. Evans this place is officially yours. Water's free. Rent is due the first of the month. Laundry is on the third floor it's free you just have to swipe your card to get in. It's an individual key so I know when you use it. You also need it to get in the building if you ever need another just let me know and I'll bring it. You get the next two free then you have to pay $50 each. Here's your key. Have a nice day." I shook his hand and walked to the door with him. "Thank you."
Mercedes' POV
"You told your mom!" Oh, shit Quinn gotta tell this man soon. "What if she tells my mom?" He tried to reassure her that she wouldn't, but she wasn't having it. "You're wrong, I'm right. I'm smart, you're dumb." I tune them out and walk to Kurt, Tina, & Artie. We begin to talk about them as Quinn starts walking this way but not before she turns back to Finn. "No, you're wrong, I'm right. I'm right, okay?"
She walks into the choir room and I follow her. "You need to tell him, Quinn." She shakes her head and sits down. "Not now." I walk up next to her and sit down. "Unt unt now. You can't keep doing this to him. Now tell him cause if he finds out from someone else, he's gonna lose it." Before she can speak, I grab her and sit her down in a chair as everyone, but Kurt and Finn come in. "I'll be back."
"Hey, you two. We need to go to the choir room." I grab Finn's hand and pull him with me. "Why?"
"Because there's something we want to give you and Quinn."
As we walk into the choir room, I notice his eyes are shut. "Open your eyes. I didn't tell you to close your eyes."
"Is there a cake?" I laughed and sat him down next to Quinn.
"No, now sit down and be quiet." I go and stand next to Artie in front of everyone.
"Your fellow Glee Club members want to sing a song for you guys to let you know how."
"What song?"
"Just listen. The song says everything."
