Book 1:

The Force Awakens

Chapter 1: A New Adventure

Luke Skywalker has vanished.

In his absence, the sinister FIRST ORDER has risen from the ashes of the Empire and will not rest until Skywalker, the last Jedi, has been destroyed.

With the support of the REPUBLIC, General Leia Organa leads a brave RESISTANCE.

She is desperate to find her brother Luke and gain his help in restoring peace and justice to the galaxy.

Leia has sent her most daring pilot and soldier on a secret mission to Jakku, where an old ally has discovered a clue to Luke's whereabouts . . . .

...

A massive Star Destroyer is seen hurtling past a starfield, eclipsing a nearby moon.

Four transport ships are seen flying from its hangar, hurtling towards a massive desert planet.

The light flickers within them, revealing stormtroopers with a new design.

They all receive word that they are getting closer to what the planet is called; Jakku.

Speaking of which!

We see a small village at night, with the distant sounds of animals and chimes in the air.

A small ball-like droid rolls up a hill, seeing the four transport ships entering the planet's atmosphere.

"What's going on BB8?"

The droid, BB8, turns to see a tall figure walking up to him.

He has pale skin, dark brown hair, almost black, with a small scar over his left eye. His eyes are a deep brown.

He wore a dark blue jacket over a white shirt, brown pants, and black boots. A pair of goggles was around his beck.

On the back of his jacket was a symbol.

Or rather, two.

One half was the old Imperial symbol, (before the Clone Wars), and the other half was the old Rebellion symbol.

He had a small device hidden within this jacket.

And on his back was a backpack.

This man called himself, Jace.

BB8 started beeping rapidly as he pointed his head at the transports.

Jace saw them, and grew wide eyes.

Jace, "oh Bantha Crap. We gotta go get Poe!"

The two started running and rolling towards a certain tent.

Meanwhile, within the tent, we see a young man in a jacket talking to an older man.

The old man, Lor San Tekka, handed the young man, Poe Dameron, a small leather sack.

Lor San, "this will begin to make things right. I've traveled too far, and seen too much, to ignore the despair in the galaxy. Without the Jedi, there can be no balance in the Force."

Poe, "well, because of you now we have a chance. The General's been after this for a long time."

Lor San, "'The General.' To me, she's royalty."

Poe, "well she certainly is that."

BB8 enters and beeps frantically.

Jace entered behind him and said, "Poe, we've got company!"

The group exits the hut, and Poe quickly pulls out a group of quadnoculars.

They see lights in the horizon.

He quickly lowers his tool.

Jace, "the First Order. Damn!"

Poe turns to Lor San and says, "you have to hide."

Lor San, "you have to leave! Go!"

Poe and Jace look conflicted, but quickly nod as they and BB8 run off.

They quickly hurry through the village.

Various armed villagers stand their ground as the transports land.

Stormtroopers run out, and begin shooting at the villagers, hitting many.

Poe and his two companions run to an X-Wing, and a StarFighter, parked at the edge of the village, hidden behind a rocky outcrop.

Poe, "come on, BB-8! Hurry!"

Poe sends BB-8 into the droid socket as he makes his way into the cockpit. The controls come to life as the canopy closes. Poe shoots a quick look back as the enemies arrive in the distance.

Jace quickly begins powering up his straighter as Poe does the same with his X-Wing. For Jace it's a bit harder, since his astromech wasn't with him…. At least not entirely.

More on that later.

Just as they got their ships online, they were both blasted by the enemy!

Two stormtroopers charge towards them, firing!

Jace, "shoot!"

Poe, "I see 'em!"

BB-8 beeps nervously as Poe grabs the controls and fires at them, using the X-wing's drop-down antipersonnel blaster!

Jace pops his canopy open, pulls out an old Battle Droid blaster and starts shooting at their enemy.

Their enemies are blasted away.

Poe tries to start the ship now, but the engine fails. Concerned, he opens his canopy, jumps down, and moves to the back of his ship.

And damage is seen on the rear engine panel.

Jace looks at his own ship, which has numerous holes in it.

Jace, "damnit! Leia gave me that starfighter as a gift!"

Back at the village, Lor San Tekka witnesses the citizens panic as stormtroopers torch the village.

Back at the X-wing, Poe kneels beneath his ship, he pulls from the leather sack a small, old artifact, which he inserts into BB-8's multi-reader.

Poe, "you take this. It's safer with you than it is with me. You and Jace get as far away from here as you can. Do you hear me?"

BB-8 beeps, hesitating.

Jace, "we aren't leaving you here!"

Poe, "BB-8 is much safer with you than me. And if they catch us both, our mission is as good as dead!"

Jace reluctantly nods at his companion.

Poem "I'll come back for you both! It will be alright."

BB-8 watches Poe run off. He whines nervously as Jace rubs his head. They turn and head off. Both turn back once to look at Poe, then roll/run away.

Poe uses his blaster rifle to fire at incoming troopers from cover.

The battle in the village continues, a trooper is hit and falls to the ground. Another runs to his side.

The downed trooper raises a bloodied hand to his ally, leaving a bloody handprint on their mask.

The marked trooper stands, overwhelmed by the battle.

An imposing shuttle lands near the smaller transports.

The door to the craft opens, revealing a tall, masked figure cloaked in black.

Kylo Ren!

He makes his way towards Lor San.

A senior officer moves to the blood marked trooper.

He says, "stay here."

The marked trooper nods shakily.

Kylo Ren stops before the outraged Lor San Tekka, dwarfing him in size. Only now does it become apparent that Kylo Ren wears a very dark mask, marked by battle, and having various similarities to the mask of a once famous Sith Lord. Inset metal lines reflect fire around them.

Kylo, "look how old you have become."

Lor San, "something far worse has happened to you."

The marked trooper is lined up with other troopers in a firing line.

Kylo, "you know what I've come for."

Lor San, "I know where you come from. Before you called yourself Kylo Ren."

Kylo, "the map to Skywalker. We know you've found it, and now you're going to give it to the First Order. As well as…. His location."

Adjacent to the village, Poe watches the exchange between the two men.

Lor San, "that boy will not be taken care of so easily. The First Order rose from the dark side... you did not."

Kylo, "I'll show you the dark side."

Lor San, "you may try, but you cannot deny the truth that is your family."

Kylo, "you're so right."

Kylo suddenly ignites a lightsaber, with an unstable red blade, and a cross guard at the edge.

He lifts the saber into the air, and strikes down Lor San.

Poe, while running, sees this happen and yells as he aims his blaster and fires at Kylo Ren!

Ren quickly turns in place and extends his hand! It stops the bolt of energy midair, making it strain and stretch in place as he also stops Poe in place, even as the pilot desperately tries to move.

Stormtroopers grab the rebel and move him past the bolt to Kylo Ren.

One trooper begins a heavy pat down of Poe as Kylo moves closer to the rebel. Poe glares as he is kicked in the legs, sending him to his knees hard.

Kylo kneels before him.

Poe, "so who talks first? You talk first?"

Kylo, "the old man gave it to you. But where is your companion?"

Poe, "it's just very hard to understand you with all the…"

Kylo says to the troopers, "search him."

Poe, "...apparatus."

The Troopers roughly pull Poe away. A Stormtrooper begins a brutal pat down of him. Kylo Ren moves closer. Poe just glares as the pat down ends.

One trooper says, "nothing sir."

Kylo, "put him on board. Find his companion if he's even been here. If he isn't, head back to the transports."

Kylo Ren regards the Stormtroopers with the rounded up villagers, then turns to a chrome-skinned armored trooper in a cape.

Captain Phasma.

Phasma, "sir, the villagers?"

Kylo, "... kill them all."

Phasma nods as she steps forwards, points towards the villagers and says, "on my command!"

All of the troopers, including the marked one, point their blasters at the villagers.

Phasma, "fire!"

Poe is roughly pulled into a transport ship, the ramp lifting up.

All of the troopers begin firing, except for the marked one, who doesn't fire his blaster.

Kylo Ren heads back toward his ship. But then he stops in his tracks. He feels something. He turns and looks at the marked trooper for a long moment. Our Trooper can barely meet his gaze; knowing that he's doomed. Kylo Ren then heads off, passing the frozen blast, which, after a moment of silence, goes free and slams into a nearby structure, scaring the hell out of the Stormtrooper.

At the edge of the village, a trooper climbs down from the cockpit of Poe's X-Wing.

Several troopers move the hole ridden starfighter over to the X-Wing with all of the strength they can muster.

The trooper that left the cockpit says, "nothing here. Go ahead!"

The group of troopers all fire at the ships, blowing them up in a huge inferno!

Far away from the village, Jace and BB-8 turn from their path to see the fire ball.

BB-8 beeps in fear as Jace looks down at him.

Jace, "I'm sure Poe will get away from the First Order BB. Remember when you helped him and Threepio save Admiral Ackbar?"

BB-8 beeped in a way that meant, "I guess."

Jace, "c'mon buddy. Let's try to find a way off this junkyard."

We see a strange animal, its red eyes lifting from the sand, watching the rolling droid and man, who just keep going.

We hear BB-8 beeping to himself, frightened as Jace tries to comfort his little buddy.

….

With the sandy planet of Jakku in sight, we see the Troop Transports and Kylo Ren's Shuttle approach a massive Star Destroyer.

As we see the inside of the large ship, Poe, shackled, is ushered from the transport through the hangar. He is awed by the imposing space.

Poe, "all right! All right!"

The marked trooper moves fast into a troop transport. He removes his helmet, revealing the terrified face of a young man.

Trooper FN-2187.

After a moment, Captain Phasma enters behind him. He knows he's in trouble.

Phasma, "FN-2187. Submit your blaster for inspection."

FN, "yes Captain."

Phasma, "and who gave you permission to remove that helmet?"

FN, "I'm sorry, Captain."

Phasma, "report to my division at once."

Phasma heads off. Shattered, FN-2187 replaces his helmet.

….

A metal sheet is pulled open to reveal the wrapped up face of a scavenger in a pair of large goggles, a face mask and gloves. They wear a backpack with a staff strapped tightly to it. They use tools to remove various mechanisms from inside the wall. They are in an upside-down, canted corridor, which looks quite rusty. The Scavenger finds a valuable piece of tech, and drops it in a satchel they carry with them.

They then proceed to swing the bag back and begin climbing down on a cable, between treacherous walls of machinery.

Alone and tiny in this massive, sideways wreck, the Scavenger descends, climbing down the two-hundred foot-long cable. Once they reach the bottom, they land hard onto rusty metal.

The Scavenger carries the satchel and another large piece they found over enormous pipes in the vast space, and heads through the dust toward a distant slit of sunlight.

The Scavenger arrives from the darkness and pulls off goggles and gear, revealing the grimy face of a beautiful, young woman.

This girl is named Rey.

She opens her canteen and shakes out the two final drops into her mouth. She hits the side of the canteen again and again for whatever she can get.

Rey is rendered minuscule, standing at the bottom of an epic engine of a decaying, crashed Star Destroyer, from a battle fought long ago. You can hear the distant sounds of her canteen-hitting. She sets her things on a piece of sheet metal and sits next to it, sliding down the sand dune.

She rides down the mountain of sand for a long while, as she recedes towards the distant salt flats below. She passes by many random pieces of debris. Her speeder looks very tiny from where she was.

Rey moves to her junker speeder, jumps on, fires the sputtering engine and drives off.

She races along the desert floor, which is a huge graveyard of ships from battles fought long ago.

Her speeder heads towards Niima Outpost, a dusty desert town. Known for refueling, small trade and scavenging.

As Rey arrives, her sack of pieces crashes to the ground with a loud crash! She hauls her large sack from her speeder towards the town.

We then find Rey at a cleaning table, scrubbing her parts thoroughly, as she glances up at an old woman doing the same. She gets lost in the moment until a smaller alien barks at her in their own language, shocking her for a moment before she goes back to work.

Later, we find Rey at a service window, showing her loot to her boss, Unkar Plutt, who looked like a huge blobfish.

As he examines her pieces, he offers, "what you've brought me today is worth... Hmmm... One quarter portion."

Though disappointed, Rey barely shows it. She nods thanks as Unkar pushes through his transfer drawer a sealed packet of dried green meat in one section, beige powder in another. She takes it, swallows her resentment and heads off.

….

The sun is setting against the flat terrain as Rey speeds along.

Later, we find Rey in her home, scratching a mark on her rusty wall.

Another mark, for another day.

One of many marks stretched along the wall from the very top.

A depressing sight.

A sizzling sound is heard as we see the items within the home.

A dried desert flower in an engine piece being used as a pot.

A handmade, rough looking stuffed doll, made of what looks like twine and the fabric of an old Rebellion flight suit.

Rey's old dwelling is filled with items reclaimed, and used for another purpose.

She cooks the green meat in a makeshift wok as she puts the powder in a small tin of milky water, stirring it for a moment as it slowly becomes a small loaf.

Rey puts the meat and loaf on an old plate.

We cut to her outside of her home, where it is now dusk.

She eats like a starving child, savoring every single bit of food on her plate. She even licks the plate to get the last of her food.

She then looks out onto the horizon, seeing a single ship in the sky speed off silently. She wipes her mouth as she picks up an old and battered rebellion helmet. Pretty much just for fun, she puts it on, as we see her sitting under the shade of an AT-AT leg. Isolated from everyone.

That's when she heard two distinct noises.

One was the loud squeal of a droid.

The other is a voice yelling, "let go of him you creep!"

Rey instantly tears the helmet off as she grabs her staff.

She hears another squeal and the voice going, "get that net off of him RIGHT NOW!"

She climbs a dune, and sees an interesting sight.

BB-8 is stuck in a net, fighting back against a small, brutish desert tyrant named Teedo, riding a Luggabeast.

And trying to tear the net as Teedo tries to whack him with a big stick is Jace.

Jace, "I have met Jawas better than you!"

As BB-8 and Jace try to fight off Teedo, Rey , "Tal'ama parqual!"

Jace, Teedo and BB-8 all turn to the woman, silent.

Jace is surprised to see a girl like this in the middle of the desert.

Rey continues yelling, "Parqual zatana!"

As Teedo and Rey go back and forth, yelling at one another, Jace and BB-8 swivel their heads back and forth at them, like a tennis match!

Rey quickly pulls out a knife as she tears the net off of the little droid.

As Jace helped rip the net apart, he got a good look at the girl, and found himself blushing at her looks.

As Teedo got angry by the droid being freed, Rey yelled, "NOMA!"

Teedo yelled back at her, as if to say go to Hell as he and his beast began walking off.

BB-8 tries to beep angrily at his would-be captor, but both Rey and Jace shush him.

BB-8 quiets as Teedo goes off.

BB-8 beeps a question at Rey.

She kneels down and says, "that's just Teedo. Wants you for parts. He has no respect for anyone."

Jace, "we noticed. Little bugger is worse than a Tusken Raider and Jawa hybrid!"

Rey giggled for a moment before she noticed BB-8's broken antenna, "your antenna's bent."

As she began straightening the antenna, Jace spoke.

Jace, "thanks for helping us with that whole thing. We owe ya one!"

Rey, "no need. Anyway, where do you two come from?"

Jace, "uh…."

BB-8 beeps.

Rey, "classified. Really? Me too. Big secret."

Jace, "know any place where we could find transport?"

She pointed to the horizon, "Niima Outpost is that way, stay off Kelvin Ridge. Keep away from the Sinking Fields in the north, you'll drown in the sand."

As Rey stands and heads off, BB-8 tries to follow, with Jace staying in place. Rey sharply turns to the droid, making him stop in his tracks.

Rey, "don't follow me! Town is that way!"

The little droid beeps again.

Rey, "no!"

She heads off again.

BB-8 beeps again. Something sweet this time. That he and Jace had no one else, and were alone and scared.

This makes her stop.

Jace says, "c'mon BB-8, we've gotta run now if we wanna get to the Outpost before nightfall."

This makes Rey turn her head to the pair. She gestures with her head, as if to say, "come on."

BB-8 quickly speeds to her, with Jace giving a relieved smile as he follows.

Rey, "in the morning, you two have to go."

BB-8 beeps as Jace says, "not a problem. Thank you so much, uh…."

Rey, "Rey. You're welcome…."

Jace, "Jace. And the droid is BB-8."

The trio disappear behind a dune.

Later, we find them in Rey's home.

The girl is readying a place for her guests to sleep.

As she did, Jace was looking around the place.

He found the small, grungy place calming, but sad.

BB-8 was in sleep mode in the corner.

Jace, "how long have you been here?"

Rey, "a long time. I've been waiting."

Jace, "for what?"

Rey, "my family. They told me they would come back one day."

Jace didn't wanna crush the girl's spirit by saying the truth.

Rey, "what about you?"

Jace, "huh?"

Rey, "your family?"

Jace, "uh, I haven't seen them in a few years. I know where my mom is, but I haven't seen my father in a long time. My aunt is with my mom, and my uncle is always off doing Force knows what."

Rey, "well, I'm sure you'll see them again one day."

Jace gave a thankful smile from her kind words.

Jace pulled his pack off and began fishing through it.

Rey asked, "what're you looking for?"

Her question was answered as Jace pulls out a grey and red astromech droid head, with various devices, wires and such on the bottom.

Rey, "why do you have a droid head in your bag?"

Jace, "this is R9, or, 'Nine.' He belonged to my mother."

Rey, "why only the head?"

Jace, "he got blasted into pieces by a bounty hunter long ago. I've been trying to rebuild him. But as of late, I've only been able to get the head working on its own."

Rey, "all of that for a droid?"

Jace, "he's more than a droid. He's family."

Jace pressed a button on the side of the droids head, and after a few seconds, the droid booted up. It's lights blinking as it beeped at Jace.

Jace, "hey buddy. How ya doing?"

Nine beeped.

Jace, "I know. I know. You still miss your body."

Rey found herself chuckling at the exchange between the two.

Nine beeped.

Jace, "just thought I'd let you know we'll be headed back home soon. We can work on your body more there."

Nine beeped as Jace wished the droid goodnight before he shut him off.

Jace placed the droids head back in his pack as he settled in for the night.

A while later, nighttime, Rey was asleep in her bed as Jace laid on the cot she set out.

His thoughts raced as he dozed off.

To his family.

Friends.

The Resistance.

The First Order.

And Poe.

He hoped his friend was okay….

….

So for the most part, The Force Awakens will be mostly the same, except for a few minor changes, like Rey having trouble with the force at first so she doesn't seem like a Mary Sue, a little more info on how Poe gets off Jakku, more build up towards Palpatine's return, and adding an OC to the story.

Speaking of which, Jace.

Who do you think his parents should be?

It'll either be:

Luke and Mara Jade.

Or.

Han and Leia.

Let me know which would benefit the story the most.

Since he's gonna be with Rey, who will stay as Palpatine's granddaughter, what works for the story the best? One idea I had was to have Rey's parents be the son of Palpatine, and the daughter of Obi Wan Kenobi, while Jace would be the son of either Luke or Leia.
