Star Wars: Sequels Retold

After Luke Skywalker disappears, his son is thrust on an adventure to find him and save the galaxy from the First Order. This leads him to a young scavenger named Rey, who will change his life forever... A retelling of the sequel trilogy in a more satisfying way, changing certain parts of the story, adding two or three OC's and elements from Legends.

3. Book 1: Chapter 3

Book 1:

The Force Awakens

Chapter 3: Reunions.

Finn, Rey, Jace and BB-8 were all running through the marketplace from the stormtroopers after them.

Finn, "c'mon BB-8!"

Rey, "let go of me!"

Finn, "no, we gotta move!"

Rey pulls her hand back, "I know how to run without you holding my hand! BB-8, stay close! This way!"

Jace, "I recommend you listen to her man. She can handle herself! You saw how she made short work of those thugs, and then you!"

Another blast just misses them as they make it through a tent.

Luckily, the stormtroopers lost their targets for now.

One trooper used a communicator and said, "call in the air strike!"

Rey, Jace, Finn and BB-8 duck into another tent.

They move through rusty wares and take cover.

Rey, "they're shooting at all of us!"

Jace, "we noticed that!"

Finn, "yeah, they saw you with me! You're marked!"

Jace, "you mean us, since we're both Resistance?"

Finn, "y-yeah! Right!"

Rey, "well, thanks for that!"

Finn, "I'm not the one who chased you down with a stick! Does anyone have blasters around here?!"

Jace, "I have mine, but there ain't no way I'm giving it up!"

Rey asks BB-8, "are you okay?"

Finn quiets her with a gesture, hearing something. Whatever he hears alarms him greatly. He grabs Rey's hand again and pulls her away.

Rey, "stop taking my hand!"

Jace quickly pushes them forward as they race from the tent. A TIE Fighter screams into view.

From behind the tents, a second follows close behind. It fires at them.

A massive blast sends the group flying, and BB-8 rolling!

Jace, "KRIIIIIIFF!"

The two TIE Fighters scream over the town, the explosion throws sand and debris fifty feet into the air.

Rey is thrown hard to the ground. She is rattled, truly afraid. Then she turns, Finn lies nearby, unconscious.

Suddenly afraid, she scrambles to him and rolls him over. Jace notices and speeds over.

BB-8 rolls over, beeping in concern.

Rey, "hey!"

As Finn comes to, he sees her. Through his fog he asks, "are you okay?"

And that very question touches her, having never in her life been asked it.

Rey, "yeah."

Jace, "anyone got any broken bones?"

Finn, "ngh, I don't think so?"

She extends her hand and says, "follow me."

Grateful, Finn takes it. Jace helps with getting all three of them up, and they're off.

Locals run amok as TIE fighters dive bomb the place. Rey, Jace, Finn and BB-8 sprint, blaster explosions threaten to get closer and closer to the group.

Rey, staff strapped to her back, leads the way as she and the others race into the spaceport. Finn glances back to see two TIE Fighters make their return. He yells, "we can't outrun them!"

Rey points to a parked, four-engine ship ahead.

Rey, "we might in that quad-jumper!"

Finn, "we need a pilot!"

Rey, "we've got one!"

Jace, "make that two! I've taken quite a few piloting lessons!"

Finn, "you guys", he points to a nearby ship, "what about that ship?!"

Rey, "that one's garbage!"

They run for the jumper but the passing TIE Fighters fire at it, blowing it apart in a huge flame ball! Rey, coming to a quick stop yells, "the garbage'll do!"

She turns and runs back, Jace, Finn and BB-8 follow as they all run toward the piece of junk, and we see it for the first.

It's the Millenium Falcon!

And the only one to figure it out is Jace, who thinks, 'sonava- so that's where that old hunk of junk went!'

TIE fighters bank around again. Finn, Rey and BB-8 run up the ramp of the semi-tarped Falcon.

Jace, Finn, Rey and BB-8 enter the ship.

Rey hits a control, making the door descend closed as she races to the cockpit.

Rey, "gunner position's down there!"

Jace, "those old guns get stuck often, so keep that in mind!"

Finn, "Y'ever fly this thing?"

Rey tosses her staff aside, jumps into the pilot's seat and frantically flips switches. BB-8 rolls in behind her as the engines whine to life.

Jace gets into the co-pilot seat.

Rey, "no! This ship hasn't been flown in years!"

Jace, 'oh, you have no idea!'

Finn buckles into the gunner seat, and to his shock the seat whips to the left, startling him. He grabs the controls to steady himself.

Finn, "great", reacting to the seat, "whoa! I can do this, I can do this-"

Rey, "- I can do this. I can do this-"

Jace, "- we can do this. We can do this!"

Rey pulls the yoke, making the Falcon engines light up bright!

The Falcon rises, wildly, causing it's tarps to fly off. The ship spins, tilts, and slams into and crumbles the town's archway.

From the tents, Unkar Plutt runs out, "HEY! THAT'S MIIIIIIINE!"

The Falcon blasts away, two TIE Fighters chase it, fast!

Rey pilots, headed for the sky!

Finn swings into frame, trying to work the guns.

Finn, "whoa! Hey! Oh! Stay low! Stay low!"

Rey, "what?!"

Finn, "stay low! It confuses their tracking!

Jace, "how the Hell do you know that?!"

Finn, "I'll tell ya later! Let's get outta this first!"

For a crazy instant Rey lets go of the yoke, and stretches it to the co-pilot controls, while Jace grabs it to help Rey pilot.

Rey, "BB-8, hold on!"

Jace, "you too dude!"

Rey finally reaches the switches, Jace works the yoke, stabilizing the ship, afraid of this next move.

Rey, "I'm going low!"

The Falcon, as it dramatically banks at an upward arc, upside-down, then swoops perilously low across the sand.

Two TIE Fighters scream past!

In the cylindrical corridor, BB-8 rolls to the ceiling!

Rey looks back for a flash as the TIE Fighters pass. They are rocked by a blast.

Rey, "what are you doing back there? Are you ever gonna fire back?!"

Finn flicks switches, making the gun targeting light up.

Finn, "I'm working on it! Are the shields up?"

Rey strains, reaching for something in the co-pilot seat.

Rey, "this is so much easier with a co-pilot."

Jace, "you can praise me all you want once we're done here!"

Finn, "try sitting in this thing!"

Finn finally fires back at the two TIE Fighters!

Finn's shots miss. The TIE Fighters arc back in pursuit and scream towards the Falcon! Both TIES firing!

The black-suited pilot fires at the Falcon.

The Falcon is rocked by another blast!

Finn, "we need cover, quick!"

Rey and Jace hit switches, piloting the best they can, with Jace seemingly more familiar with the ship.

Rey, "we're about to get some", she whispers to herself, "I hope."

Jace looks at Rey, hearing her say that, and says, "you can do this Rey. I believe in you."

Rey smiled at her friend's words.

The Falcon speeds through a rock formation, grazing the rock, taking out a chunk of it, with the two TIE Fighters in pursuit, firing!

The Falcon banks so hard, the edge of the ship rips a line in the sand as it turns, revealing the ship graveyard ahead.

BB-8 extends magnetic cables to brace himself in a corridor.

Finn continues to fire at the TIE fighters, narrowly missing them.

Finn, "damn it!"

Rey maneuvers the ship deeper into the graveyard with Jace making sure to help her keep the ship steady.

Finn swoops into frame and fires.

Finn, "come on... come on…"

He hits and shatters the TIE Fighter!

Rey, "nice shot!"

Finn, "I'm getting pretty good at this!"

The TIE Fighter crashes amid the debris, three scavengers instantly there to consume the new bounty.

The Falcon, pursued by the one remaining TIE Fighter, slaloms through the massive wreckage, grazing the old ships as it goes, pieces flying.

The TIE Fighter fires, hitting the Falcon's lower turret, spinning it, and jamming it into forward position.

Alarms blare!

Finn, "the cannon's stuck in forward position, I can't move it! You guys gotta lose 'em!"

The ship is hit again. Afraid, Rey's mind races as she scans the area…. And gets an idea!

And Jace notices the look she gets.

Rey, "get ready!"

Finn, "Okay! For what?"

Jace, "something crazy!"

Rey pilots the ship up and into the rear of a crashed Star Destroyer! The final TIE Fighter follows.

Finn peers out the window, realizing where they are:

Finn, "are we really doing this?!"

Jace, "this is nothing! I once flew a straighter through the asteroid field surrounding Iago!"

The two ships slalom debris inside the giant one, the Falcon grazing one side, and then the other, spitting sparks!

Rey, scared, girds herself as she quickly runs out of space in the wreck.

Rey, "oh no!"

Jace, "stay calm!"

Just as the TIE pilot gets a lock, Rey and Jace yank the yoke together!

The Falcon makes a hard right turn out of the Destroyer.

Rey then cuts power and flips the ship, so the back faces front!

Finn can now see the pursuing TIE Fighter! He fires, destroying it!

Rey guns the engines again, as Jace flips the Falcon, and the ship flies away as the TIE Fighter crashes!

Finn, "whooo!"

The Falcon roars off, victorious, leaving the ship graveyard and disappearing into the clouds.

The Falcon roars from Jakku off into space.

Jace and Rey excitedly unbuckle their seatbelts.

The two hug one another in joy.

Jace, "Rey, that was amazing! I could kiss you right now!"

The two quickly stared at one another, blushing like crazy as they quickly separated.

Rey, "w-well, I had some great help."

The two smiled at one another, until they heard Finn moving up from the gunner.

They hurry back into the ship.

Jace and Rey race past BB-8, who is retracting his safety restraints.

Finn, adrenalized, climbs from the turret, and meets Rey and Jace in the corridor, the lounge nearby.

The crew began talking over one another as they were filled with excitement about their victory.

Three new allies, inexperienced in such events, finding friendship in one another.

Bb-8 beeps something urgent. Rey turns to the droid and kneels.

Rey, "you're ok. He's with the Resistance, like you and Jace are. He's going to get you home. We all will."

Jace looks at Finn, "we don't know your name."

Finn, "... Finn. What's your guys'?"

Rey, "I'm Rey."

Jace, "Jace."

BB-8 looks at Finn: really?

Finn is reminded: he's lied to these new friends of his. Rey looks at Finn with a sweet smile.

Finn, "guys..."

But before Finn can say anything they jump, across the lounge, steam bursts from under the grating.

Rey, "help me with this! Quick!"

They hurry to the grating and pull it up together. BB-8 rolls over and watches.

Jace, "brings a lot of memories from helping my family with ship troubles!"

Finn, "whoa! What's going on?"

She goes below as BB-8 BEEPS concern.

….

We return to the First Order Star Destroyer above Jakku.

Lieutenant Mitaka moves to Ren, who looks out across the star field. Mitaka swallows, uneasy with his task.

Mitaka, "Sir. We were unable to acquire the droid on Jakku. Nor the rebel with him."

Ren turns to look at him, he says nothing.

Mitaka, "they escaped capture aboard a stolen Corellian YT model freighter."

Kylo, "the droid, and a single man... stole a freighter?"

Mitaka, "not exactly, sir. They had help."

Ren says nothing. Which says everything. Mitaka sweats in pure fear as they continue, "we have no confirmation, but we believe FN-2187 may have been helped in the escape-"

Ren ignites his lightsaber, turns and slashes at the console behind him! Mitaka winces and looks away from the horrible sounds of Ren's rage continue. Finally Mitaka looks up. The metallic wall behind Ren is ripped with glowing scars.

Ren deactivates his weapon as he says, "anything else?"

Mitaka hates to say the following, but, "the three were accompanied by a girl."

Ren reaches out, and Mitaka is suddenly, violently pulled towards Ren, into his black glove!

Kylo, "what girl?"

….

Rey's head pops up from under the grating, surrounded by steam. An emergency alarm blares.

Rey, "it's the motivator! Grab me a Harris wrench, check in there!"

As Jace and Finn check a storage box, she disappears down below, overwhelmed by the technical issues.

Finn, "how bad is it?!"

Jace, "like on a scale of one to ten?"

Rey, "if we wanna live, not good!"

Jace, "so a negative three then!"

BB-8 watches as Jace and Finn search through a selection of tools.

Finn, "they're hunting for us now, we gotta get outta this system!"

Jace, "we're resistance soldiers! Of course they're hunting us!"

Rey re-emerges, Finn hands her the wrench.

Rey, "BB-8 said the location of the Resistance Base is 'need to know.' If I'm taking you there, I need to know!"

Finn, "this?"

Rey nods as Finn tosses it to her.

She catches it and goes under again, leaving Finn, Jace and BB-8 alone. Finn contemplates telling the truth. This is his moment. But instead he kneels to BB-8, says quietly, urgently, "you gotta tell us where the base is."

Jace, "why don't you?"

BB-8 beeps.

Finn, "I don't speak that. Alright, between us, I'm not with the Resistance, okay?"

BB-8 backs up.

Jace whispers, "I thought you smelled fishy!"

Finn, "I'm just trying to get away from the First Order, but you tell me and Rey where your base is, I'll get you two there first, deal?!"

BB-8 cocks his head

Finn, "droid, please."

Jace, "I trust you Finn, you saved us, and tried to save Poe, that counts for something, but I'm gonna let BB-8 decide before I say anything."

Rey pops up again and says, "Pilex driver, hurry!"

Finn moves for the tool.

Rey, "so where's your base?"

Finn, searching, to BB-8, "go on BB-8, tell her."

BB-8 looks back and forth between the three people around him.

Finn, "please!"

She and Finn look to BB-8, who considers the whole situation, then BEEPS.

Rey, "the Ileenium system?

Jace, "that's it!"

Finn hands her the tool, surprised but thrilled, Rey disappears below again.

Finn, "yeah, the Ileenium system, that's the one, get us there as fast as you can!"

A smiling Finn and Jace give BB-8 thumbs up. BB-8 quickly extends his welding torch and turns it upwards, then retracts it.

Jace, "I'm glad BB-8 had to tell her, and not me."

Rey, "I'll drop you two at Ponemah Terminal. I need the bonding tape, hurry!"

Finn starts searching for the tape.

Jace sees it, but wants to mess with their new ally.

Finn, "what about you?"

Rey, "I gotta get back to Jakku!"

Finn loses his mind as Jace looks like he got hit with a frying pan!

Finn, "BACK TO JAK-?! Why does everyone always wanna go back to Jakku?!"

Jace, "I agree with Finn. No offense Rey, but you live in a junkyard."

Rey, "no, that one! No. No. The one I'm pointing to! No. NO. NO. If we don't patch it up, the propulsion tank will overflow and flood the ship with poisonous gas!"

Bb-8 has moved to Finn and tips his head, showing him the tool as Jace snickers.

Finn, "this?"

Rey, "yes!"

Finn throws her the tape and she disappears below once more.

Finn, "Rey. Rey. You're a pilot, you can fly anywhere! Why go back?! You got a family? You got a boyfriend? Cute boyfriend?"

The steam and alarm stops as Rey pops up, annoyed.

Rey, "none of your business, THAT'S WHY!"

Rey and Jace glance at one another at the boyfriend remark, although Finn doesn't notice.

BB-8 seems to notice though, and makes the droid equivalent of a snicker.

But then, all of the ship's power goes out. BB-8 grows nervous at the sudden darkness.

Finn, "... That can't be good."

Rey, "no it can't be."

The group heads off to the cockpit.

Rey and Finn plop into the seats, in a panic. Jace and BB-8 stay behind them, with the former leaning on Rey's seat excitedly.

Rey checks the dead instrumentation panel.

Rey, "someone's locked onto us, all controls are overridden."

Finn quickly and awkwardly climbs up, to look out the glass of the cockpit.

Rey, "get off. Get off! See anything?"

Finn, "... Oh no."

Jace, "oh no? What oh no?"

The Millennium Falcon, powerless, is a sitting duck.

An extremely large ship appears from above. The antenna array is the first the group sees of the massive freighter, it's giant hangar open like a huge mouth, which swallows the Falcon like a Krayt Dragon eating a Tusken Raider.

Finn plops into his seat, horrified.

Finn, "it's the First Order."

Jace, "are you sure?"

Jace felt something familiar nearby.

Something he hadn't seen in a long time.

Or someone.

Rey, "what do we do, there must be something!"

Finn's mind races, but then it hits him!

Finn, "you said poisonous gas?"

Rey, "yeah, but I fixed that?"

Finn, "can you unfix it?"

Rey stares at him and gets his plan!

Jace caught onto the young man's plan as well.

Jace, "Finn, if I weren't into women, I'd kiss you!"

The group chuckled, despite their situation.

They head off into the Falcon

They grab the gas masks hanging in the lounge.

Finn, Jace and Rey, gas masks on, quickly climb into the open grating area.

Rey, "c'mon BB-8."

They help BB-8 down, too, they all struggle like crazy, since he weighs a TON.

Jace, "kriff, what does Poe feed you?!"

Finn, "I got it."

Jace, "I hope so!"

Rey, "oooh…"

Finn, "I'm okay. BB-8 get off me…"

Under the grating, Finn pulls the grating over them as Rey works on the controls.

Jace is right next to her, the two of them almost squeezed together, their faces close.

Rey, "you think this'll work on the Stormtroopers?"

Finn, "yeah. Their masks filter out smoke, not toxins."

Jace was curious about how Finn knew this, but didn't press further.

The lights come on! They hear the sound of the ship ramp lowering! Finn pulls the grating closed as he says, "hurry!"

Rey, "I'm hurrying!"

Suddenly the Falcon door opens….

And into the ship comes Han Solo and Chewbacca!

They board the Falcon, weapons at the ready for combat, operating silently, with hand signals only.

Han grows a warm smile as he says, "Chewie, we're home."

Han gives Chewie a nod to check out the ship. Chewie heads off one way, Han in another.

After a few seconds, the grating above lifts off, hands in surrender, they look up at Han, who's training his blaster on them, threatening.

They're SCARED.

Except for Jace.

His face holds pure surprise, and unexpected joy.

Han, "where are the others? Where's the pilot?"

Rey, "...I'm the pilot…"

Jace, "we're the pilots."

Han, "you two?"

Chewie talks in his familiar growls and groans. Rey responds to him, "no, it's true, we're the only ones on board."

Finn, "you can understand that thing?"

Han, "and, 'that thing', can understand you too, so watch it. Come on outta there."

They climb up, while BB-8 uses his magnetic arm to quickly pull himself out.

Han, "where'd you get this ship?"

Rey, "Niima Outpost."

Han, "Jakku?! That junkyard?"

Finn, "thank you! Junkyard!"

Jace, "told ya!"

Han, "told ya we should've double-checked the Western Reaches!"

He turns to Rey, "who had it, Ducain?"

Rey, "I stole it from Unkar Plutt. He stole it from the Irving Boys, who stole it from Ducain."

Han, "who stole it from me! Well, you tell him Han Solo just stole back the Millennium Falcon for good."

As Han looks at this small group, his gaze lands on Jace.

Han, "what a minute…."

Rey and Finn looked on as Han looked at Jace very closely.

And Han realized who he was looking at.

Han, "Jace?"

Jace smiled, "hey Uncle Han."

Rey and Finn grew wide eyes!

Han grew a wide smile as he hugged the boy. When he let go, Chewie instantly grabbed Jace into a big hug.

Jace, "it's great to see you too, Chewie! You haven't changed a bit!"

Rey is in awe at the whole situation.

Rey, "this is the Millenium Falcon! You're Han Solo?!"

Han Solo, "I used to be."

Jace, "still are Uncle Han!"

Finn, "you're uncle's Han Solo? The Rebellion General?"

Rey, "no, the smuggler!"

Finn, "wasn't he a war hero?"

Chewie grunted, sounding like he said, "I dunno?"

Jace, "he was all of those things."

Rey, "you never told us that you were the nephew of Han Solo!"

Jace, "if I told everyone, I'd have a price on my head."

He was glad they didn't press further, asking who his father was.

He wasn't ready to tell them just yet.

Rey was excited about the whole thing.

Rey, "this is the ship that made the Kessel Run in fourteen parsecs...!"

Both Han and Jace yelled, "twelve!"

As Han entered the cockpit he said, "fourteen."

A moment of private joy is there for Han, until he sees something that annoys him.

Han, "hey! Some moof-milker put a compressor on the ignition line!"

Han moves to the corridor.

Rey, "Unkar Plutt did. I thought it was a mistake too, puts too much-"

In unison they say, "-stress on the hyperdrive…."

Han looks at her like, who are you?

Han, "Chewie, throw 'em in a pod, we'll drop them at the nearest inhabited planet. We'll try to get Jace back to his mom and the resistance."

Rey, "wait! No, we need your help!"

Han, "my help?"

Jace, "we're on an important mission Uncle Han!"

Rey, "this droid has to get to the Resistance base as soon as possible!"

Finn, "he's carrying a map to Luke Skywalker."

Han stops in his tracks.

Jace and Han both had an unreadable look on their faces.

Finn, "you are the Han Solo that fought with the Rebellion. You knew him."

The mention of Luke has really hit Han. He turns to Finn.

Han, "yeah, I knew him. I knew Luke."

Suddenly, a distant, metallic ka-chunk is heard.

Han, "don't tell me a Rathtar's gotten loose!"

Everyone grew wide eyes at the remark.

mmat: glad you agree with the choice of Jace's parents being Luke and Mara. You'll have to wait and see for Jace's reaction to the Falcon, and if Rey and Finn find out about who he is.

And thus we reveal the truth! Jace is the nephew of Han and Leia.

And thus, he is the son of Luke Skywalker and Mara Jade, (who will be appearing with Leia later on).

I gave hints as to who he was. His astromech droid is named Nine, the name of Mara's droid. Jace was meant to reference the name of one of Han and Leia's sons from Legends, Jacen.

Luke and Mara had a son named Ben, but since Kylo is named Ben, I decided to name their son for this story, Owen 'Jace' SkyWalker, after Luke's uncle.

And finally, if anyone can provide a transcript for Rise of SkyWalker, it would be appreciated. The only one i could find was pretty much just the dialog, and it takes forever to keep pausing throughout the movie.
