The Force Awakens

Chapter 4: Revelations

Han hurries out, they all follow, Chewie, Rey, Finn, Jace then BB-8.

Finn is wildly concerned as he says, "wait, a what?! Did you just say Rathtars? Hey!"

The Falcon is parked in the giant freighter's hangar. Han moves to a control panel, and they all follow him.

Finn, "you're not hauling Rathtars on this freighter, are you?"

Han, "I'm hauling Rathtars."

Jace, "and here I thought you couldn't be any crazier Uncle Han."

On the control panel, it shows images of the screens from all around the ship, including the exterior, where a transport ship is landing on the freighter. Han is fearful.

Han, "oh great. It's the Guavian Death Gang. They must've tracked us from Nantoon."

Jace grimaced at his Uncle's antics.

Han heads off as Rey asks, "what's a Rathtar?"

Han leads our group down a long narrow hall lined with cargo containers.

Han, "they're big and dangerous…"

Finn, "y'ever heard of the Trillia Massacre?!"

Rey, "no."

Jace and Finn, "good."

They turn a corner as Han says, "I got three of 'em going to King Prana."

Finn, "THREE?! How'd you get them on board?"

Han, "I used to have a bigger crew."

Chewie groan-talks, concurring.

Jace, "this is dangerous Uncle Han. Even for you guys! The guys that screwed over Jabba the Hutt, Boba Fett, and the Empire."

Han and Chewie open up a hatch on the ground.

Han, "get below deck and stay there until I say so. Don't even think about taking the Falcon."

Rey, "what about BB-8?"

Han, "he stays with me, until I get rid of the gang, then you can have him back and be on your way."

Jace, "I'm staying close. BB-8 doesn't leave my side"

Han wanted to argue, but he knew it wasn't the time.

Finn, "what about the Rathtars... where are you keeping them?"

A terrifying bam is heard, and the group turns to see a grotesque Rathtar and its giant tongue slams into the cargo container window behind Finn, whose heart stops.

Han, "there's one."

Rey, "what are you gonna do?"

Han, "same thing I always do: talk my way out of it."

Jace snickers as Chewie groans at him.

Han, "yes, I do. Every time."

A door opens. The Guavian Death Gang enters. One man in a suit, Bala-Tik, and five security soldiers in badass uniforms with round-face helmets. They turn into and stop at one end of the corridors. Jace, Han, Chewie and BB-8 are forty feet away in the middle of the long hall.

Bala-Tik, "Han Solo. You are a dead man."

Han smiles innocently, friendly. BB-8 nervously looks back and forth at the gang, and Han.

Han, "Bala-Tik. What's the problem?"

Bala-Tik, "the problem is we loaned you fifty thousand for this job."

Finn and Rey, in the grate, look up, trying to get a view.

Rey, "can you see them?"

Finn, "no."

They start crawling down the crawl space.

Bala-Tik, "I heard you also borrowed fifty thousand from Kanjiklub."

Jace gave his Uncle a look that said, really?

Han, "you know you can't trust those little freaks! How long've we known each other?"

Rey and Finn arrive under the gang. They whisper to one another.

Rey, "they have blasters…"

Finn, "a lot of 'em."

Bala-Tik, "the question is how much longer will we know each other? Not long. We want our money back now."

Han, "ya think hunting Rathtars is cheap? I spent that money."

Bala-Tik, "Kanjiklub wants their investment back, too."

Han, "I never made a deal with Kanjiklub!"

Bala-Tik, "tell that to Kanjiklub."

The sound of another door opening draws everyone's attention. Han's face goes white as he turns to the other end of the corridor, where Kanjiklub members appear. A gang in a medieval bandito style.

Han smiles uncomfortably at the Kanjiklub members. Its leader, Tasu Leech, is at the front of the new group. Han tries to play it off, "Tasu Leech. Good to see you."

Jace facepalms at the situation.

How many times could Han find himself in these types of problems?

Tasu speaks an alien language, "wrong again, Solo. It's over for you."

Tasu cocks his weapon. He is there for blood. BB-8 grows nervous.

Jace mutters, "why is it that every time I find you guys, you're in trouble?"

Finn and Rey react to the sounds of the new gang and start crawling back the other way to see them.

Han, "boys. You're both gonna get what I promised! Have I ever not delivered for you before?"

Bala-Tik, "yeah."

Tasu Leech, "twice!"

Chewie nods as Jace says, "even I have to agree. And don't even know these guys!"

Han realizes they're right.

Han, "what was the second time?"

Bala-Tik, "your game is old. There's no one in the galaxy left for you to swindle."

Tasu Leech, "nowhere left for you to hide."

Bala-Tik suddenly noticed the droid, "that BB unit... the First Order is looking for one just like it."

BB-8 hides behind Han's leg.

Jace, "uh oh…."

Bala-Tik, "and three fugitives."

Finn and Rey suddenly stop crawling.

Jace grows wide eyes.

The group knows it's in real trouble.

Han, "first I've heard of it."

Below the grating, Finn and Rey look at each other, afraid.

Above, another Kanjiklubber, Razoo Qin-Fee says, "search the freighter."

One of the Kanjiklubbers begins moving down the corridor, aiming a flashlight down below, searching for any other people on the ship.

Finn and Rey, in a quiet panic down below start crawling again, fast in the opposite direction they came.

Rey crawls off fast, Finn follows. They quickly arrive at a junction box area, Rey looking at the controls.

Rey, "wait wait wait wait. If we close the blast doors in that corridor, we can trap both gangs!"

Finn, "close the blast doors from here?"

Rey, "resetting the fuses should do it."

Rey begins resetting the fuses, sparks shooting from them as they do. Finn quickly joins in. Rey and Finn finish resetting the fuse boxes. Rey smiles optimistically. Finn looks hopeful too.

Down an empty row of large containers, which open, and a giant Rathtar, an enormous, fierce and ravenous land octopus slithers out of its cage!

The lights begin going off one by one.

The gangs look around.

Han's eyes go wide, he gets what's going on, and it's bad.

Han, "... I got a bad feeling about this…"

Jace, "you and the rest of the universe…."

Suddenly all the lights come on again, even down below, where Rey realizes it hasn't gone as planned.

Rey, "oh no."

Finn, "oh no, what?"

Rey, "wrong fuses."

In another corridor, back with the gangs.

Bala-Tik, "kill them! And take the droid!"

The gangs aim their weapons.

Jace is about to reach into his jacket for something just as a Rathtar appears behind the Guavian Death Gang, grabbing two members! The others scream and run! The gang fires back, blasts flying!

Han and Chewie react, flinching, then turn to Kanjiklub as a Rathtar appears behind them as well, roaring deafeningly! The other Gang turns, some of them run, and fire at it.

Han, Chewie, Jace and BB-8 race down the hall.

Jace runs down a different hall, getting separated from the others.

A member of the Kanjiklub Gang comes around the corner. Han punches him with one blow, and throws him toward the Rathtar. They keep running for their lives.

Rey and Finn hurriedly crawl through the space below decks.

Finn, "this was a mistake!"

Rey, "huge!"

Two Guavian Death Gang members run through the ship, passing Tasu Leech, who sees another Kanjiklub member down the corridor, who gets grabbed by a tentacle! Tasu tries to help him, but he gets pulled up and away! Tasu hears a distant terror-scream of a Rathtar, and runs the other way.

Other Kanjiklub members yell at him to avoid that direction, they all turn a corner, and a Rathtar is there and grabs the two others! Tasu fires at the beast and runs off over a hatch on the ground. The hatch opens, where Rey and Finn climb out, quickly.

As they turn a corridor, Rey asks, "what do they look like?"

They turn another corner, and several gang members are battling a horrible Rathtar! Rey covers her mouth and shock.

Finn, "they look like that."

Finn yanks her away. They race around another corner, and another Rathtar is there! Jace is running from it towards the two of them.

Finn, "this way!"

Rey, "are you sure?"

Jace, "run now! Ask questions later!"

They scream and run offn but Finn is grabbed and pulled away fast!

Rey, "FINN!"

But the Rathtar is too fast and turns a corner, losing Rey and Jace.

Finn, "REY!"

We see Finn being yanked down the hall, screaming as he struggles to get loose!

Jace and Rey turn the corner, but Finn is gone, and is nowhere to be seen.

Rey, "FINN!"

Jace, "FINN!"

Without Finn, the two are instantly distraught, then they realize: they just passed a control panel! Their eyes light up as they move to it. A number of video monitors of the ship, and on one is Finn, being dragged by a Rathtar toward an open blast door.

Jace, "wait for it…."

Rey's hand on the button, she waits…

Jace, "now!"

She then slams the button!

The blast door instantly closes on one of the terrifying creature's tentacles! It screams in utter pain!

Finn scrambles up, desperately shaking the sticky tentacle off his leg as it twitches.

Rey and Jace arrive running to Finn, beaming to see him alive.

The former trooper is adrenaline-rushed and in utter shock.

Rey and Jace, "Finn!"

Finn, "It had me! But the door-"

Rey, "that was lucky!"

Jace, "let's get the Hell outta here!"

The trio runs down the corridor towards the Falcon.

Han, Chewie and BB-8 take cover, Han exchanging blaster fire with gang members at the other end of the hall.

Han, "I got the door. Cover us!"

Chewie groans in agreement. Chewie fires down the hall as Han crosses the corridor, BB-8 following nervously. As Chewie exchanges blaster fire, Han works the controls.

The hatch opens, Falcon in the distance, just as Chewie is hit in the shoulder by enemy fire! He goes down with a roar of pain.

Han, "Chewie! You okay?"

Chewie weakly nods.

Han grabs Chewie's bowcaster, and fires at the door controls like a badass!

Han looks at the bowcaster like it's the greatest gun ever, "wow. Come on! Come on!"

Jace, Finn and Rey turn into the hangar, toward the Falcon. Han helps the wounded Chewie up the ramp and sees them.

Rey, "Han!"

Finn and Rey race past BB-8 as they go up the ramp, Han says to Rey, "you, close the door behind us!"

Han turns to Finn, "you take care of Chewie!"

Han and Rey race up the ramp as Finn heads up with Chewie, who screams wildly in pain!

Han sees Jace stop in the middle of the hangar.

Han, "Jace, come on!"

Rey stands there near the controls to the door, watching Jace.

Jace yells, "get the ship ready, I'll buy some time!"

Han seemed to catch on as he ran to the cockpit.

All of the gang members stop lined up, watching Jace.

They all see Jace reach into his jacket, pulling out a silver, cylindrical object, with some slight gold accents.

He raises it up in both hands, and presses a button on the side.

Emerging from the top was a vibrant blade of orange, with bits of purple swirling within it, almost mixed together, from an unusual Crystal within the device.

One of the gang members yells, "men, focus your fire on…. On the Jedi!"

The blasters all shoot at Jace, who moved like lightning, hitting every bolt of energy sent at him away. He began making his way backwards towards the ship and yells, "Rey! Help my Uncle! I'll handle these bastards!"

Rey is brought out of her surprise, and runs inside of the ship.

Jace sees a gang member run at him with a stick. He quickly sidesteps them and slices them in half! Another one run at him, and he kicks them tot he ground before slicing their arms off.

Han stands at the navicomputer, hitting switches. Rey enters fast, moves past him to Chewie's seat.

Han, "hey, where are you going?"

Rey, "Unkar Plutt installed a fuel pump too, if we don't prime that we're not going anywhere."

Han, "I hate that guy."

Han sits as Rey begins hitting buttons.

Rey, "and you could use a co-pilot."

Han, "I got one, he's back there."

In the lounge, Chewie is screaming in pain.

Han, "and I'd ask Jace, but….

Jace managed to redirect several bolts of energy back at the gangs, killing a few of them as he finally got into the ship, hitting the button, making it close.

Jace ran past Finn and Chewie and got into the cockpit to watch Rey and Han work the ship.

Han, "watch the thrust, we're goin' out of here at lightspeed!"

Rey is shocked, "from inside the hangar? Is that even possible?"

Han, "I never ask that question until after I've done it."

Jace, "I was there when it happened, so trust him, he knows what he's doing…."

A Rathtar jumps onto the windscreen, making Rey scream in shock! Its giant mouth chewing at the glass! Jace just cringes at the act. Han works the controls, "this is not how I thought this day was gonna go. Angle the shields. Hang on back there!"

In the lounge, Chewie is in pain, while Finn is going through a first aid kit, the ship is hit again!

Finn, "no problem!"

It was a huge problem.

Three gang members race through the hangar and fire at the Falcon, hitting fuel lines and blasting the shipyard!

Han, "come on baby, don't let me down!"

He hits a switch but nothing seems to happen."

Han, "what?!"

Jace, "deja vu, huh?"

But Rey reaches over, hits a switch, matter-of-factly.

Rey, "compressor."

Han doesn't like it but she's right, he hits the switch again and the hyperactive fires! The hangar is filled with a lightspeed blast as the attacking gang members are blasted back like dried leaves. In the cockpit the Rathtar rips away as the stars stretch out before them.

The Falcon blasts away from the ship, leaving streaks behind it.

We see Bala-Tik arrive at the window of the hangar.

Bala-Tik, "inform the First Order that Han Solo has the droid and Jedi they want. And they are aboard the Millennium Falcon."

….

A pair of TIE fighters roar towards a magnificent planet, frozen white. This is the Starkiller Base, a natural planet that has been hacked and modified into something sinister.

Over this we hear a deep, almost soothing voice. A voice very much in control, and in power.

The voice of Supreme Leader Snoke.

"The droid, and the young apprentice will soon be delivered to the Resistance…"

We see Kylo Ren and General Hux are in a large dark space, looking upward at someone addressing them in a massive and dark assembly room. Hundreds of desks in a stadium arc, focused on a platform where we see Supreme Leader Snoke. Not entirely human, at nearly twenty-five feet tall. All of him a stony grey. He looks old, wounded, fragile, but very powerful, all at the same time.

Snoke, "... Leading them to the last Jedi Master. If Skywalker returns, he will rally all remaining members of the Jedi. And the new Jedi will rise!"

Hux, "Supreme Leader, I take full responsibility for th-"

Snoke, "General! Our strategy must now change."

Hux, "the weapon. It is ready. I believe the time has come to use it. We shall destroy the government that supports the Resistance, the Republic. Without their friends to protect them, the Resistance will be vulnerable, and we will stop them before they can reach Skywalker."

Snoke considers. He almost seems to die for a moment as he regards Hux's plan.

Snoke, "Go. Oversee preparations."

Lux, "yes, Supreme Leader."

General Hux, proud and cocksure, exits the room. Kylo Ren watches him go. Snoke sits back down. A new intimacy creeps into his voice.

Snoke, "there's been an awakening. Have you felt it?"

Kylo, "yes."

Snoke, "the master we serve must sense it as well. You and I are cogs in one large machine, my young apprentice. While he is the machine itself. We must not fail him."

Kylo, "I will not fail, my master."

Snoke, "there's something more. The droid, and young force user we seek are aboard the Millennium Falcon. In the hands of your father, Han Solo."

Kylo Ren reacts with subtle, but real, surprise.

Kylo, "he means nothing to me. Neither does my old friend."

Snoke, "even you, master of the Knights of Ren, have never faced such a test. Facing your family."

Kylo, "by the grace of your training, I will not be seduced."

Snoke, "we shall see. We shall see."

A gentle, satisfied nod from Snoke, and Kylo Ren, obsessed and filled with anger, exits. Snoke watches him disappear, a grotesque evil smile growing as he disintegrates, revealing himself as a hologram all along.

….

The Falcon is racing through lightspeed.

The cockpit is in chaos as Han and Rey pilot, alarms sounding, problems everywhere, and the lounge where

Chewie yelps as Finn nervously works to bandage his shoulder.

Han, "electrical overload!"

Jace, "I can fix that!"

Han, "the coolant's leaking!"

Rey, "try transferring auxiliary power to the secondary tank-"

Han, "- Secondary tank, I got it!"

Jace, "make sure the transfer goes through!"

In the lounge, Chewie howls in pain! Finn hangs in there, wraps a bandage on Chewie's shoulder. Chewie roars, making BB-8 scurry off when he tries to help.

Finn, "Chewie, come on! I need help with this giant hairy thing! Stop moving! Chewie!"

Han, "you hurt Chewie, you're gonna deal with me!"

Jace, "and me!"

As Finn struggles to bandage the Wookie, he says, "hurt him?! He almost killed me six times", Chewie grabs him by the collar and roars, "which is fine."

Jace, "I wouldn't make him mad! Wookie's are known to rip arms outta sockets when they get ticked off!"

Finn, "I'll keep that in mind!"

Han, "if this hyperdrive blows, there's gonna be pieces of us in three different systems."

Jace, "I don't think my mom would appreciate that Uncle Han!"

Han is at the controls when all the alarms stop. Rey, satisfied, sits in the co-pilot seat. Han is confused.

Han, "what'd you do?"

Rey, "I by-passed the compressor."

Jace had a huge smile on his face.

He already found Rey attractive, but to see her fix something on the Falcon made his heart skip a beat.

Han looks at her. A little, appreciative laugh falls out of him before he exits, walking past BB-8.

Han, "move, Ball."

Han kneels at Chewie, who lies awake but recovering. Han checks his friend's wound with care. Chewie groans.

Han, "nah, don't say that, you did great. Just rest."

Han turns to Finn, who sits at the holochess set, BB-8 beside him. This is awkward for Han, but damn, he means it, "good job, kid. And thanks."

Finn, "you're welcome."

Finn has accidentally hit a button on the chess set, and the pieces appear, looking up at Finn, curiously. The pieces start to fight as Finn fiddles with the controls, trying to turn it off.

Jace and Rey enter the room.

Jace stands near Chewie, checking on how his old friend is doing.

Han, "so, fugitives, huh?"

Jace, "you knew that about me for a long time."

Finn, "so Jace…. You're a Jedi?"

Jace, "yeah, I was afraid of telling you guys."

Rey, "as soon as I saw that lightsaber, I figured it out. You're the son of Luke Skywalker!"

Finn and Rey were in awe.

Jace, "... my full name is Owen Jace Skywalker. Most people call me Jace. After dad disappeared, me and my mom, Mara Jade-"

Finn, "wait, didn't Darth Vader, his father, send Mara Jade to kill him?"

Jace, "yeah."

Han, "Luke was able to turn her from the darkside. The two of them fell in love. Had Jace around twenty years ago."

Jace, "we both went into hiding with the Resistance. Hence why I've kept that lightsaber hidden."

Finn, "I thought lightsaber's were supposed to be one color?"

Jace, "I have a rare crystal for mine. Orange and purple, mixed together."

Rey, "so that's why the First Order wants you as much as BB-8."

Jace, "speaking of which, can we get back to our mission?"

Rey, "the First Order wants the map. Jace and Finn are with the Resistance", she shrugs, "I'm just a scavenger."

Han gives Finn a skeptical once-over as Finn finally manages to turn the chess set off as Rey enters. Han looks to BB-8.

Han, "let's see whatcha got."

Rey, "go ahead."

BB-8 rolls forward and suddenly projects a holographic map, filling the room. Planets, stars and systems surround the group.

They all react in amazement. Chewie sits to look up. Han moves through the stars, his eyes becoming reflective from the blue holographs.

Han, "this map's not complete. It's just a piece. Ever since Luke disappeared, people have been looking for him."

Rey, "why'd he leave?"

Han, "he was training a new generation of Jedi. He and any other surviving Jedi started a new temple of students. That included Jace. One boy, an apprentice, turned against him, destroyed it all. Jace was the only surviving student. Out of all of the teachers, I believe only four or fivr survived, including Luke. Luke felt responsible... He walked away from everything."

Rey, "even his own son?"

Jace, "shame can make people do things that are out of character. My dad lost that spark of hope he carried when he lost his order of Jedi."

Finn "do you know what happened to him?"

Han, "there're a lot of rumors. Stories. The people who knew him the best think he went looking for the first Jedi temple."

Rey, "all of this is proof. The Jedi were real?"

Han, "I used to wonder that myself. Thought it was a bunch of mumbo-jumbo, magical power holding together good, evil, the dark side and the light…. 'Crazy thing is, it's true. The Force, the Jedi, all of it. It's all true. Luke and his family are living proof."

An alarm rings on the control station, prompting Han to toggle some switches. BB-8 cuts off the hologram. Chewie rises and moans to Han, but Han motions for Chewie to lay back down.

Han, "no, you rest."

He turns to the others, "You want my help? You're getting it. Gonna see an old friend. She'll get your droid and Jace home. This is our stop."

Han leaves towards the cockpit with the others following, eager to see their destination….

mmat: I try to keep every chapter at a good amount of words, and end it at a good hook for the next chapter. I'm gonna follow through with Finn and Rose being a couple. Rey will get Luke's blue saber, Jace has his own, and I plan for Kylo to use either Leia's saber, or Luke's green saber during the final battle. Whichever one he gets, Jace or another character I plan to introduce into the story will use the other.

And Jace reveals himself as a Jedi, and as Luke and Mara's son.

His blade is powered by a Kyber Crystal. A rare one that has a swirl of orange and purple in it, hence the odd blade.
