After Luke Skywalker disappears, his son is thrust on an adventure to find him and save the galaxy from the First Order. This leads him to a young scavenger named Rey, who will change his life forever... A retelling of the sequel trilogy in a more satisfying way, changing certain parts of the story, adding two or three OC's and elements from Legends.

Book 3:

The Rise of SkyWalker

Chapter 6: Duel of Fates

As Rey and Padme approach Exegol, a Sith officer alerts her superiors while Allegiant General Pryde orders the Sith fleet to rise to deployment altitude. Rey lands Luke's X-wing on the dark surface of Exegol and walks into the Sith Citadel. Rey walks past several statues and machines into a tunnel.

Meanwhile, Poe and Finn lead the Resistance fleet through the cloud of red gas and debris and exit hyperspace above Exegol.

Poe, "I know it's a rough ride... but stay locked on Rey's course."

R2-D2 chirps a reply.

….

A Sith Trooper, "captain, we have Resistance craft incoming."

Chesille Sabrond, "Allegiant General..."

Pryde speaks over a hologram, "use ion cannons!"

The Resistance arrives in Exegol!

Poe, "look at that fleet. Damn it! Welcome to Exegol."

Mara, "I could've lived without seeing this place!"

Vanik, "watch your starboard, Wexley!"

Snap, "whoa!"

The Resistance ships fly as fast as they can through the Final Order ships.

Poe, "get to their altitude. They can't fire on us without hitting each other. Don't give up. Help is coming."

Finn, "there it is. Poe, I see it. I've got a visual on the tower."

That's when many TIE Fighters began chasing the Resistance.

Snap, "incoming TIEs!"

Poe, "I see 'em! I got you, Finn."

Ahsoka, "we've gotta find a Destroyer to take!"

Finn, "you ready back there?"

Jannah, "never been readier."

….

A First Order Officer, "they're targeting the navigation tower... so the fleet can't deploy."

Pryde, "then we won't use that tower. Switch over the source of navigation signal to this ship. We'll guide the fleet out ourselves."

….

Tyce, "the navigation tower has been deactivated."

Finn, "what?"

Cal, "damn!"

Snap, "those ships need that signal. It's gotta be coming from somewhere."

Poe, "they figured out what we're doing. Call off the ground invasion."

Finn, "wait. The nav signal's coming from that command ship. That's our drop zone."

Jannah, "how do you know?"

Finn, "a feeling."

Mara, "we've got our target to hijack!"

Tyve, "you sure you wanna launch a ground invasion on a Star Destroyer?"

Ahsoka, "it's the plan!"

Finn, "I don't want to, but if we can take that thing for ourselves, we stop the signal. Give us cover. We gotta keep that fleet there till help arrives."

Rose, "we hope."

Finn, "we hope."

Poe, "you heard the General. All Wings, cover that lander while the Jade Shadow, the Ghost, the Mantis and Finn's troops get in there!"

As the battle rages on, the ships make their way as fast as they could to the command ship.

From the Ghost, Sabine uses a rather large gun to shoot at the Star Destroyer.

Whatever she shot exploded, revealing a large orange rebellion symbol!

Sabine, "so our allies know which ship to protect!"

….

Griss, "several ships have entered the hangar!"

Pryde, "send every troop on board to the hangar! Kill those Rebels before they can take the ship!"

Phasma and Hux run forward with their weapons, making their way to the hangar.

….

As troops surround the ships, our heroes exit!

First, our Jedi heroes jump out, each igniting their sabers!

Ahsoka uses her twin white bladed sabers.

Cal used his double-bladed blue saber, with BD-1 riding on his shoulder!

Ezra uses his green saber.

And Mara leads them with her purple saber.

As Hux and Phasma step forward, Phasma says, "everyone, focus your fire on the Jedi scum!"

As the troops begin shooting at the Jedi, the transports open up, revealing a large number of soldiers running out and shooting the troopers! This includes Jannah and her troops.

Next is Zeb, who runs with Ezra, wielding his staff!

Merrin and Fera join Cal, with Fera drawing a vibro-sword as her mother uses her magic to toss the troopers around.

Sabine flies into the air with a jetpack, shooting at the troops!

Hera, Chopper and Jacen stay near the Ghost for cover fire.

DJ, Jannah, Nine, BB-8, Rose and Finn all run together, trying to make their way towards the Bridge.

Little did they know, Hux and Phasma are following them among the carnage!

….

Meanwhile, Rey and Padme enter a massive auditorium where they discover the empty throne of the Sith and a large crowd of Sith loyalists. Rey and Padme are soon joined by the Emperor, who is supported by an Ommin harness.

And guarding the Emperor were several cloaked warriors.

Clones made by Palpatine.

One is a younger clone, bald and wearing a red robe under his cloak.

(Imagine the rumored Matt Smith Palpatine clone).

One is a less scarred Snoke.

One is another Dark Rey.

And the last one looks like an even more malformed Palpatine.

Palpatine, "long have I waited…"

The girls turn around and finally come face to face with Palpatine. The lightning shows the metal arm Palpatine has been connected to.

Connected to the machine he is in are two pods, each with Palpatine clones that look exactly like how he did when Anakin Skywalker struck down Mace Windu.

Palpatine, "...for my grandchild, and a child of SkyWalker to come here. I never wanted you dead. I wanted you here... Empress Palpatine. And Empress Skywalker."

He points towards the throne.

Palpatine, "you will take the throne."

The scavenger girl gasps and steps back.

Padme grabs her saber, ready to fight.

Palpatine, "it is your birthright to rule... here. It is in your blood. Our blood. Yours as well young Skywalker, being a descendant of Vader himself."

Rey breathes shakily, continuing to step back.

Rey, "we haven't come to lead the Sith... we have come to end them."

Palpatine, "as Jedi?"

Padme, "we carry the legacy of Kenobi and Skywalker, not Palpatine and Vader."

Palpatine, "no. Your hatred, your anger. You want to kill me? That is what I want. Kill me and my spirit will pass into you, as all the Sith live in me... You both will be Empresses ... We will all be one. Including the man you love."

Rey and Padme shared a look, wanting to protect Owen.

….

Above Exegol, the Sith Star Destroyers fire up their engines.

Poe, "those thrusters are hot. How are we doing?"

The rebels are winning in the hangar.

Mara lifts several TIE Fighters and tosses them at a large group of troopers, causing a fiery inferno to engulf them.

Cal throws his saber, slicing several troopers in half as BD-1 shocks one to the ground.

Ahsoka dashed through two Fighters, slicing both, jumping away from the explosion that engulfed a group of troopers.

Ezra and Zeb stand back to back, hitting any trooper that ran at them.

Zeb, "just like old times, eh kid?!"

Ezra, "you said it Zeb!"

/

DJ, "w-w-we're making our way into the b-bridge."

Finn, "we're gonna blow our way in, and take out that nav tower."

Rose, "the only thing standing in our way is the door."

Finn, "alright, BB-8, Nine, you're up!"

Rose, "me and DJ will cover you."

BB-8 and Nine work together to hack the door open, allowing the four rebels to blast everyone in there except Pryde.

Pryde has his hands up as Rose, Jannah and Finn point their guns at him.

Finn, "DJ, shut down the nav signal."

DJ, "r-r-r-roger that!"

As the signal shuts down, Finn says, "there it goes."

BB-8 and Nine activate the guns, training them on the other Destroyers.

"Indeed."

The group turns to see Phasma and Hux standing there.

Pryde, "Hux, Phasma, help me!"

Hux, "you sew; we could do that…."

Phasma, "but with you gone, we could take the First Order for ourselves."

Rose, "so that's why you helped us!"

Finn, "you just wanted a chance for you and Phasma to rule the First Order."

Phasma activated a magna guard staff and said, "now, I shall deal with you traitors myself."

Finn and Jannah pulled out staff's, strapped to their backs.

Meanwhile, Hux is about to try and shoot someone, but Rose runs at Hux and tackles him to the ground!

Phasma run at Finn and Jannah, and begins trading blows with them.

….

Poe, "nice one, Finn. Nav signal's down, but not for long."

Snap, "still no Falcon or backup."

R2-D2 chirps his worry.

Poe, "I don't know, Artoo. Maybe nobody else is coming."

Aftab, "what do we do, General?"

Poe, "we gotta hit them ourselves."

Tyce, "what can we do against these things?"

Poe, "just stay alive! That Destroyer can only offer so much help."

….

Palpatine, "the time has come!"

Padme simply shakes her head, denying the Emperor's words.

Palpatine, "with your hatred, you will take my life. And you will ascend. The other Skywalker will join as well."

Rey, "all you want is for me to hate, but I won't. Not even you."

Padme, "even if you are the most evil man in the galaxy, we will not hate you."

Palpatine, "weak. Like your parents. Such a disappointment. The daughter of Obi Wan Kenobi, and my own son chose to be simple folk."

Rey, "my parents were strong. They saved me from you."

Padme, "they sacrificed themselves to keep her safe."

Palpatine, "your Master Luke Skywalker was saved by his father. The only family you have here... is me."

Rey looks at Padme, "no, you're not."

Palpatine shows Rey the Resistance fighting with Palpatine's fleet!

Palpatine, "they don't have long."

Padme, "mom…."

Rey shudders.

Palpatine, "no one is coming to help them. And you are the one who led them here. Strike me down. Take the throne. Reign over a new Empire... and the fleet will be yours. Only you have the power to save them. Refuse, and your new family... dies."

….

Meanwhile, Ben Solo and Owen Skywalker land on Exegol in a TIE scout and a Jedi Starfighter, and run to the Sith Citadel.

….

Rey looks emotional, and nods her head reluctantly.

Rey simply looks at Rey, hoping that they're making the right choice.

Palpatine, "good."

….

As the Dark Lord tempts Rey, Ben and Owen force their way into the depths of the Sith Citadel, taking down several Sovereign Protectors.

As Owen and Ben land on the ground hard, they each say something.

Ben, "ow."

Owen, "is this what dad felt like when he fell in Cloud City?"

….

Phasma, Jannah and Finn strike at one another, each showing great skill as they fight.

Jannah is mainly support, as Phasma is clearly out for Finn's blood.

The two lock blades as she says, "you're nothing but rebel scum! You deserve death, you traitor!"

Finn, "says a woman who's butchered so many innocents!"

As their fight continues, Rose and Hux are in a vicious fist fight, which Rose was clearly better at, as Hux already had a black eye!

….

Palpatine, "she will strike me down... and pledge herself as a Sith."

The disciples continue chanting.

Palpatine, "they will draw their weapons!

The disciples chant even louder!

Rey and Padme ignite their sabers.

….

Owen and Ben soon run into the Knights of Ren and fight them, using their sabers to attack!

They are able to slice them down with their blades in a matter of minutes, and continue on towards the others.

….

Palpatine, "they will come to me."

Padme and Rey start walking towards Palpatine.

Palpatine, "they will take their revenge."

The chanting gets even louder as Rey and Padme raise their sabers, the clones nearby with wicked grins.

Palpatine, "and with a stroke of their sabers... the Sith are reborn!"

The chanting fills the entire room!

Palpatine, "the Jedi are dead!"

Rey and Padme are ready to strike.

Palpatine, "do it! Make the sacrifice!"

But at that very moment, Padme and Rey see Kylo, now as Ben with Owen, and they smile and nod.

The boys nod as well.

Rey and Padme toss their sabers out, slicing two guards in half!

Owen and Ben make quick work of the last of the Knights of Ren!

At the throne room, Rey and Padme call their lightsabers back to them and fight the Sovereign Protectors while Sidious retreats in the Ommin harness.

Owen and Ben run in and begin dueling the protectors as well.

Ben hurls the last Sovereign Protector aside with the Force once they are all taken care of.

Now the four clones stand by their Master, all of them wielding red lightsabers.

All four Jedi stand together.

Owen and his orange/purple blade.

Rey wielding the blue blade of Luke, and her own yellow blade.

Ben wielding his uncle's green saber.

And Padme, wielding her aunt's light blue blade alongside her own light blue blade.

Palpatine, "stand together, die together!"

All four clones run at our heroes, beginning a furious battle!

Ben takes on the Snoke clone.

Rey takes on the Dark Rey.

Owen takes on the younger Palpatine.

Padme takes on the malformed clone.

As Ben is locked with Snoke, he says, "you are nothing but a child!"

Ben, "no! I am Ben Solo!"

Ben pushes the Snoke clone away and slices him in half, just like his predecessor!

Rey and Dark Rey strike blades over and over and over again as the Dark Rey snarls at our young heroine.

Rey uses that anger to her advantage, sidestepping a strike from the Dark Red, and swinging her saber, decapitating the Dark Rey!

As the malformed clone knocks Padme to the ground, about to strike her down, Owen sends the younger Palpatine into them, knocking both clones down as Owen and Padme both stand together.

Before the clones can rise, Owen and Padme both throw their sabers, slicing the legs off of both clones as they tried to get up, they fell into the chasm below to their deaths.

The Emperor strikes. Rey, Owen, Padme and Ben are incapacitated, their lightsabers flying away in the distance. As Palpatine pulls them to the ground, Force Energy is drained from the four heroes, startling him. The Emperor stares at his hands.

Palpatine, "the lifeforce of your bond... so utterly strong."

The mangled hands become whole again.

Palpatine, "a power like life itself."

Rey and the others are utterly helpless.

Palpatine, "unseen for generations. And now... the power of four... restores the one... true... Emperor."

With his strengthened Sith powers, Palpatine drains more Force Energy out of his four prisoners. Rey shrieks, Ben grits his teeth, Owen yells in agony as Padme cries in pain. The Emperor cackles maniacally as his pupils light up under his robe!

Little do any of them see, the area around all of them begins to glow a light blue.

….

All of the forces inside of the command ship have been taken down.

Ahsoka contacts DJ, "the ship's been taken! What now?"

DJ, "f-f-fly your ships out! H-h-h-help the fleet! We'll h-hold this ship in order to h-have an advantage!"

Ahsoka, "Roger that!"

The remaining rebels in the ship enter their ships and join the fleet.

….

Poe, "snap, they're on your tail!"

Snap, "yeah, I see 'em!"

Poe, "no, no, no, Snap, Snap!"

The TIE fighter shoots at Snap's X-Wing, Snap screams!

Poe, "no!"

Snap's ship crashes and explodes.

"Alpha 3 is down. They're on my tail! I can't get... aggh!"

"They're everywhere!"

"Delta Leader's hit!"

Mara, "just keep at it!"

"Losing altitude!"

Hera, "everyone hold on!"

Greez, "keep your guards up!"

"General, what's our next move?"

"Poe, what now?"

Poe, "my friends... I'm sorry, I thought we had a shot. But there's just too many of them."

And when all hope seems lost….

They hear a familiar voice.

Lando, "but there are more of us, Poe. There are more of us."

They see countless ships arrive in the sky, lead by the Falcon and an advanced X-Wing, Lando and Chewie wielding big smiles on their faces as they piloted the two ships.

Lando in the Falcon, Chewie in the X-Wing!

Poe, "look at this. Look at this."

….

Finn and Jannah have just knocked down Phasma as they see the ships arrive.

Rose has Pryde and Hux tied up.

Finn, "Lando, you did it. You did it!"

Rose turned to the First Order generals.

Rose, "looks like neither of you are winning today."

….

Poe, "hit those underbelly cannons. Every one we knock out is a world saved."

The Falcon, as well as the other ships, all work in tandem to take down the Destroyers.

Wedge, "nice flying, Lando."

….

Pryde, "where did they get all these fighter craft? They have no navy."

Hux, "it's not a navy, it's just people."

Phasma manages to get to her feet and begins taking the offensive.

As Finn and Jannah fight, Jannah yells, "set the ship to crash into a bunch of the Destroyers!"

DJ, "I g-g-got it!"

Rose, "I'll call Lando and Chewie to get us!"

Finn and Jannah continue their fight as it slowly takes them towards the direction of the hangar.

….

Zorii, "so long, sky trash!"

Poe, "who's that flyer?"

Zorii, "take a guess, spice runner!"

Babu Frik, "hehaaaa!"

Poe, "ha! Zorii! You made it!"

….

But someone else has made it too. The fully rejuvenated Emperor steps out of the dust, free off the Omrin harness and more powerful than ever before.

The two pods nearby break open, and the two clones stagger over to Palpatine. He flows his energy into them, making them look like him.

Palpatine, "look what you have made."

The disciples chant even louder.

Owen, Ben and Padme struggle to rise.

Palpatine, "as once I fell... so falls the last of the Skywalkers!"

He throws Ben into a chasm!

Owen and Padme both grab onto pointed rocks in the ground, stopping them from being thrown into the chasm, but knocking them to the ground.

Rey lays still as Owen watches her.

Owen, "Rey…. No."

Palpatine looks to his fleet as they are being attacked by the Resistance.

All three Palpatine's speak in unison, "do not fear that feeble attack... my faithful. Nothing will stop the return of the Sith!"

They start to attack the entire Resistance with Force lightning!

….

Poe, "Artoo, my systems are failing."

Artoo screeches!

Mara, "Kriff! Kriff! Kriff! Kriff!"

Poe, "does anyone copy?"

….

Finn and the others are hanging onto various things in the hangar, trying to keep from falling out of the ship!

….

The three Palpatine's laugh evilly.

Owen and Padme crawl over to Rey.

Weakened, Rey watches the Resistance being destroyed by Palpatine's Force lightning.

Rey, "be with me. Be with me. Be with me."

Owen and Padme join in, "be with me. Be with me. Be with me."

And that's when they begin to hear the voices.

And not only that.

They see many spirits begin to appear around them!

Obi Wan, "these are your final steps, Rey, Owen, Padme. Rise and take them."

Anakin, "Rey."

….

In the ships above.

Ahsoka, "Rey. Owen."

Cal, "Padme. Owen."

Ezra, "Rey. Padme."

Mara, "Rey. Owen. Padme."

….

Kanan, "Rey."

Anakin, "bring back the balance, kids, as I did."

Luminara, "in the night, find the light, children."

Revan, "feel the Force. All three of you."

Mace, "you're not alone, Rey, Owen, Padme."

Yoda, "alone, never have you been."

Bastilla, "find your strength Padme, Owen, Rey."

….

Ezra, "it's always been with you."

Cal, "your entire life."

….

Qui-Gon-Jinn, "every Jedi who ever lived lives in you."

Anakin, "the Force surrounds you three."

….

Ahsoka, "trust the Force."

Mara, "trust in each other!"

….

Aayla, "let it guide you."

….

Ahsoka, "as it guided us."

….

Mace, "feel the Force flowing through you all."

Anakin, "let it lift you."

Adi, "rise, Rey."

Revan, "rise, Owen."

Bastilla, "rise, Padme."

Qui-Gon-Jinn, "we stand behind you. All three of you."

Obi Wan, "Rey."

Yoda, "rise in the Force."

Owen, Rey and Padme all begin to rise as they pull their lightsaber's towards them.

Kanan, "in the heart of a Jedi lies their strength."

Obi Wan, "rise."

Qui-Gon-Jinn, "rise."

….

Mara, "rise."

Cal, "rise."

Ahsoka, "rise."

Ezra, "rise."

….

Luke, "Rey. Owen. Padme. The Force will be with you."

Leia, "always."

Rey, Owen and Padme finally rise, and stand before Palpatine and light their sabers.

Palpatine, "let your death be the final word... in the story of the Rebellion."

As all of the Jedi spirits surround our three heroes, we see a large number of spirits surround the three Emperor's.

The dark, menacing spirits of;

Count Dooku.

Darth Maul.

Savage Opress.

Darth Nylus.

Darth Magus.

Darth Bane.

And countless other Sith warriors from days long past.

All three Palpatine's pull out red lightsabers, and rush at the three of them.

A Duel of Fates, to decide the future of the Galaxy!

As you can see, the space battle is quite different from the original. As most of the ships fight the Final Order ships, Finn and the others take the Command ship.

Finn And Jennah fight Phasma as Rose fights Hux.

Chewie gets to pilot an X-Wing!

And the spirits of all of the Jedi appear! And the spirits of Sith Lords! Mostly nameless, except for a few famous ones.

I recommend, for the lightsaber duel in the next chapter, play Duel of the Fates.
