Hi! Thank you for all your kind reviews again! Just a reminder since the last 3 chapters were flashbacks. Tom and Owen had a fight in the ER and Teddy was just about to go up to surgery.
*
Tom was just leaving his office now. His hand was still sore but he didn't care about that. He just wanted to check on Teddy. Half a hour passed since Amelia was paged about her scans so no doubt she was probably in surgery now. As much as he wanted to be the person in the waiting room for her, he knew he couldn't. He knew Hunt would probably be there and starting a fight again would be the last thing he wanted. The last thing Teddy would want. Slowly he made his way to the staircase and composed himself enough to walk down there to the OR floor.
His made his way to the board on the OR floor and stood there staring at it trying to soak in what it said.
Theodora Altman - OR 3- Craniotomy, Laparotomy- Dr A.Shepherd, Dr M.Grey
'Tom?' A voice called behind.
He turned around to see the last person he was expecting.
'Meredith! I thought you were meant to be in surgery... oh god she didn't make it!' He exclaimed pulling Meredith to the side.
'No she's still in there Tom.' Meredith whispered while giving him a reassuring touch on his arm. 'I think you need to come with me.'
She led Tom away back the stairwell and then back up to his office.
'I'm sorry Tom, I know you love her but you know I can't tell you anything about her current condition because you're not family.' Meredith spoke sympathetically while Tom sat down of the couch.
'God, Meredith when have you ever stuck to the rules! I am your boss! I'm ordering you to tell me!' Tom shouted angrily at the calm Meredith.
'I'm not breaking HIPPA because in this scenario you're not my boss, you're a friend of my patient.'
'Meredith cut out all that crap, I know you would tell anyone else. Okay... the board said she was in for a craniotomy so she's probably got a epidural or subdural hematoma and if she's in a laparotomy then it's probably for control of internal bleeding.' Tom shouted standing up from the coach getting even louder and angrier. 'Tell me I'm right!'
'Yes, I'm sorry Tom. I really am.' Meredith reassured him. 'Bailey instructed me to not tell you anything in a hope to avoid another fight scene, I just had to make sure you weren't going to barge into the OR beforehand. I going to have to go soon as Amelia will nearly be finished but I know all of this is messy but stay here until she makes it out of surgery.'
'If she makes it out...'
'She will. And I will page you when she does.' Meredith offering while walking to the door.
'Thank you Meredith, I know you think I'm the bad guy here. I'm the player. But...'
'I know you love her Tom, no matter how messy the whole situation is.' Meredith interrupted while opening the door and then walking out.

Hours crawled by. Owen was nervelessly pacing the waiting room. The last time he was in the waiting room for someone was about a year ago when Teddy was operating on Betty, which he was only really there to support Amelia. Ironic. Now Teddy's was the one on the table and Amelia was operating on her now and then Meredith was going to go to operate when she'd done. He had the same fear running through his body as when Megan was being operated on except the only person he knew could calm him down now was on the OR table. He gave a small depressing chuckle to himself. Ironic again. He had never been a very popular person in the hospital. He knew that. He was known for his PTSD, failed relationships and making rash medical decisions to save someone life, which most people didn't agree on. But as he and Teddy would say, 'trauma is the decision between doing something that may kill someone or doing nothing that will really kill them'. Teddy would also be telling him right know to breathe and that everything would be alright. He could even hear her calm voice now - 'Head between your knees major.' He sat down and took multiple big breathes until his head didn't feel like it was about to spin out of control.
He felt his phone vibrate. It was him mom again. She'd texted saying she'd just arrived in the car park and that Megan was going to fly over the next day to come. He felt a bit of relief to find he wasn't alone.

He continued to sit there statue like. Soon his mom had joined him and tried to say say something to reassure him and offer him some food. It was only 2pm despite it feeling like he'd been sat there for days. His mom tried to make small talk but was just talking to herself until Bailey came to sit next to her.
'Teddy's a strong lady, she always has been.' Bailey commented while giving Owen a concerning look.
'I know, ever since I first met here when she came home for thanksgiving with Owen on her first tour I knew she was one strong women.' Evelyn agreed while Owen just sat there in silence and shock.
The three sat there for minutes which turned into a hour which turned into hours until they all saw Amelia, who was still in her scrub cap, come over...
