Ch 21 So it begins The Final Chunin Exam A Fiery Deteremination
After a very interesting conversation with the newly arrived Kazekage, Sarutobi officially kicked off the final rounds of the chunin exam.
All the candidates stood in the arena more confident, and prepared then a month ago. Naruto, Takeru, Hinata, Neji, Shino, Shikamaru, Kankuro, Temari and Garra all waited for Genma to call the first match. Sasuke was no where to be found.
"Where the hell is that teme" Naruto wondered as he looked around "grrr he'd better not miss our match"
"So troublesome wish I hadn't shown up either" Shikamaru huffed as he stared up at the clouds
Takeru sighed "Geez you lazy bum get motivated or else you're gonna lose...to girl"
"You're starting to sound like Ino" Shikamaru retorted
In the rafters
"I wonder where Sasuke is we all saw him last night" Ino stated as the rest of the rookies who didn't make the cut all sat together. She turned to Sakura and she saw the worry on her face.
"He left quickly after taking me home last night..." but then she smiled "but I'm sure he's ok he'll be here"
In the Arena
"Lets get the first match of the Final Exams started will Hinata Hyuga and Neji Hyuga please stay in the arena while the rest of you head to the waiting area"
The Sand Sibling, Shino and Shikamaru all begin walking away. Takeru looked at Hinata and nodded with a smiled. Hinata turned to Naruto. There were no words spoken as the couple's eyes connected a small nod, a wide foxy grin and a thumbs up was all she needed. The boy caught up to his brother and the two joined the other fighters in the waiting area.
Hinata then turned and face Neji both Hyuga's staring into the others white eyes.
"You have anything to say before we begin" Neji asked
Hinata smiled sweetly as she slid into her fighting stance "Only that I vow to...win" she activated her dojutsu and stood ready for battle
In the Waiting Area
Naruto smiled 'You go Hina-hime show Neji what a so called failure can do with a little determination and hard work I know you can do it'
'Becareful Hinata and good luck' Takeru thought
In the Audiance
"Father do you think Nee-san can win against Neji" Hanabi asked
Hisashi looked out at the two young Hyuga about to battle. "Neji is very strong for his age and to be from the side branch, but I will admit your older sister...she has changed...hmmm" the Hyuga Head thought to him self 'Does it have something to do with that boy or is it something more...'
Flashback
Kakashi had come to meet with Hyuga-sama about having Hinata put on his squad. He arrived to see the man training his youngest daughter.
"Stand up Hanabi"
Kakashi with his bored looking face spoke. "Very well Hiashi-sama I will take Hinata under my wing, but as you very well know the life of a genin can be dangerous and brief...she is your eldest daughter and heir to your house hold"
"Do what you will she is of less worth than her sister 5 years her junior the Hyuga Clan has no use for such an heir now if you have nothing else to say Hatake-san please leave we have work to do"
"Very well then" Kakashi bowed then shunshined away
End Flashback
'Was I wrong that day this match will tell me" Hiashi wondered
Back in the Arena
Neji activated his dojutsu 'She has the look, she's calmer now more sure of her self...more the better for me' "I will prove to you that once a failure always a failure it will never change"
Genma saw that they were ready "Very well then let the first match of the Final Rounds begin" he jumped back
At the same time they moved striking fast and hard at each other. (Just watch their fight in the anime this part is the same).
This went on for 10 minutes and to Neji's surprise Hinata had been keeping up and dodging his attacks where as he only has gotten 2 small strikes she had gotten 4. He took a step a back and tossed several kunai at her. Hinata saw them coming and using her flexibility bent back and dodged them but as she was coming up Neji was already upon her about to strike. The strike hit and sent Hinata rolling backward a bit.
'Unbelieveable...I missed' he thought
"It's not over yet" Hinata was back on her feet quickly back in her stance, Neji's rage boiling he dashed forward at high speeds readying a fatal blow.
In the Stands
'Whats he doing that's a killing blow is he trying to kill her...Neji stop' TenTen thought
But what happened next surprised everyone...well almost everyone. As Neji drew closer he noticed his cousin's hands begin to form a hand seal that looked slightly familar.
"Kage Bunshin no jutsu" she yelled
A collective WHAT! filled the arena mostly coming from the rookies and one Mitarshi Anko.
Back in the Arena
Neji was shocked beyond compare. His strike stopped short of Hinata's heart with another hand catching his own the 1 clone she was able to produce caught and stopped his hand. Giving Hinata the chance to strike.
"Now!" Hinata sent a flat palm strike directly to Neji's gut sending him back.
Waiting Area
"Whooo way to go Hinata show him who's boss!" Nartuo cheered out
"N...Naruto when did she learn the Shadow Clone Jutsu" Takeru wondered
Naruto just blushed and smiled "You can ask her yourself once she wins"
Stands
'She has...improved to have learned a jonin class technique from that boy no less" Hiashi thought
As Neji struggled to get up he felt his hate for the main branch grow even more.
"Do you really hate the main branch that much that you would try to kill me when I've been nothing but kind to you..." Hinata asked in a bit of a bolder voice. She saw his eyes shake with rage.
"Shut up..." he screamed rushing at the two Hinata's. The attack was set each of the three dodging each other he was still one of the best fighters. Hinata's training combined with the support of her shadow clone was giving her an edge...plus she still had a couple aces in the hole. Dodging a couple of blows from the Hinata's Neji backed up.
"...Even through all the insults and dirty looks I still tried my best to be nice to you I even respected you for your strength but...Ive had enough I want to know what grudge you hold so dear against the main branch...against me" Hinata asked panting slightly
A dark hue clouded Neji's eyes for a moment..."You killed my father"
"I...I did what...?" Hinata looked shocked
Stands
Hiashi heard this and looked sad at the look in Neji's eyes "There is hatred in his eye, hatred for the main branch of the family"
Naruto's ears twitched hearing this 'What the hell is he talking about'
Arena
"Not you indirectly but it was because of what happened to you that caused my father...your uncle's death do you remember what happened to you when you were younger"
Hinata mind shifted through her past until she figured it out. "...you mean when...I...I was kidnapped..."
Neji nodded and then explained the whole story...or what he thought was the whole story. (If you must listen to it rewatch the Neji vs Naruto fight to hear the story)
Hinata felt sick hearing the story behind her uncle's death a tear running down her face. With the clone guarding her she turned a quick eye to her father and looked upon him in disgust. He saw the look in her eyes but said nothing.
Hinata turned to her cousin "...Neji nee-san I don't speak on my fathers behalf or the elders I say this from the bottom of my heart I am so sorry that you have suffered this long, I'm sorry you felt the pain of loss...I know that pain as well..." her clone disappeared and she prepared herself "I pray that we can rebuild our relationship as family and friends but as I told you before I will not lose"
"We can...not change who...we are you were a weak failure AND YOU WILL REMAIN A WEAK FAILURE"
In a burst of speed and rage Neji bounded towards Hinata in hopes of ending the match.
Calming herself she relaxed her pose. Neji jumped in the air readying another fatal blow aimed right for Hinata's heart.
She breathed a sigh "SHUGOHAKKE ROKUJUYON SHO" (8 TRIGRAMS 64 PALM GUARD)
"Wha..." Neji thought but it was too late
Hinata began to emit a constant stream of chakra from her palms, which are formed into extremely thin, sharp, blades effectively forming a barricade between herself and her opponent leaving small cuts on his body and clothes and knocking him back hard against the ground.
"I...I cant move" Neji grunted
After that Genma announced Hinata as the winner
Stands
"Neji noo...he lost" Tenten worried about her teammate
"Whoa is that really Hinata she's so strong wow" Ino said to Sakura who nodded in agreement
Shock was upon Hiashi's face "She's taking one of the Hyuga Clans strongest techniques and turned it into a defensive and offensive jutsu" for once in his life a small smile came upon his face 'My eldest daughter...who I cast aside because she was too much like her mother...nice and not befitting of a Hyuga heir has grown in strength and character...she is and has always been the true Hyuga heir...and I have been such a fool'
"Nii-chan is really strong father" Hanabi looked down at her older sister smiling
Waiting Area
"Whoa who knew Hinata was strong enough to beat Neji...Im impressed" the lazy Shikamaru praised
"I knew...I will admit Neji is strong but Hinata used his hatred of the Main family against him making him angry and unfocused and once she hit him in the stomach blocking his chakra the match was won" Takeru said in reply then looked at his brother
Naruto was smiling wide he thought back to the night before.
Flashback
"I love you...Naruto-kun"
Naruto froze in place "You...L...love me"
Hinata's face was red at this point but the words were spoken now there was no going back...and she didn't want to. "Y...Yes...you are the man I've fallen in love with...you give me strength when I want to give up, your pure determination inspires my own and you've always been there for me helping me, encouraging me, protecting me...I want to give that back to you...Naruto I want to show you that you don't have to bare your dream of becoming Hokage alone...I want to be right there beside you"
Naruto's heart raced here in front of him was a woman who didn't care that he housed a fox demon, wanted to help him reach his goal and loves him without question he didn't know what to say. "Hinata I...really really care for you but...I...dont..."
"Shhh" she held a finger to his lips closed her eyes and shook her head smiling "Naruto-kun you dont have to say it back right now knowing you care for me is enough"
Naruto smiled and kissed her again which she happily welcomed "I really had a great day with you Hina-hime we should do it again...but not as friends and not as teammates..."
Hinata's eyes got wide 'Is...he asking me..."
Rubbing the back of his head "I dont think Id be good at it but...I...want t...to be your...b...boyfriend..." Suddenly Naruto found himself on his back being crushed by a loving hug.
"Hai I'd like t...that very m...uch Naruto-kun" Hinata was the happiest she'd ever been never in her wildest dreams would she have thought that she would be dating her Naruto-kun.
Naruto smiled but it was getting little to hard to breath "Hinata cant breath"
Hinata let him up and smiled in embarrassment "Gomen Naruto-kun"
"Nah don't worry about it...thank you for not...freaking out on me when I told you about..." he looked down to his stomach
She placed a reasuring hand on his cheek "You are still the same Naruto that I've come to know and love nothing has changed"
He gave his best and brigtest foxy grin which brought a warm feeling to her heart.
"Now about your match tomorrow..."
End Flashback
"I know what you are thinking Nii-san and I may have had a small hand in her strategy but the win was all hers" Naruto told his brother turning to face him.
Takeru nodded then soon Hinata joined them at the waiting area as Neji was carted off to the infrimary. Shikamaru,Takeru and even Shino congratulated her.
"I knew you could do it Hina-hime if anyone could show Neji the error of his misplaced sense of fate it was you" Naruto told her
She smiled "Thank you Naruto-kun...I couldnt have done it with out you believing in me"
He took her hand "Always"
The three other Konoha Genin took notice of this and said nothing Takeru simply smiled. 'About damn time'
Soon Genma called for the next match. Temari walked down to the arena awaiting her opponent.
Shikamaru sighed "This is so troublesome I think I'm just gonna quit...proctor I..."
"OH NO YOU DONT" the two distinct voices of Naruto and Takeru yelled out as they kicked the lazy bums' ass out of the waiting area and into the arena. Everyone begin laugh as Shikamaru landed on his back in the arena.
Ino shook her head. "Why do I have to be on the team with the lazy one"
"I hate them so much" Shikamaru groaned gazing at the clouds
Temari shook her head "Come on slacker or are you gonna give up"
The pineapple headed boy sighed "Well if im gonna go out might as well go out in style"
The match soon begin and surprising everyone Shikamaru had got the match down to the very last moment. He had outsmarted the Suna kunoichi in every move making her think she was in control the whole time when she wasn't. Finally trapping her with his jutsu...he gave up.
"Wha..." Temari was at a loss for words and was beyond pissed
"I used up to much chakra and can only last about 10 more seconds...so troublesome I had planned out the next 300 moves oh well"
After some booing from the crowds and some very...choice words from Naruto, Genma called the next match "Uzumaki Naruto vs Uchiha Sasuke". The crowd went wild as this is the fight they had all been waiting for.
Hinata snuck her hand into Naruto's and squeezed slightly. "Good luck Naruto-kun"
"Thank you Hime" he replied and looked towards his brother. The two nodded and Naruto made his way to the arena. The Hokage decided they would wait 10 minutes for Sasuke to arrived before he was disqualified. Just as Genma was about to call the match Naruto's nose twitched.
"Wait Genma-sensei they're here"
And sure enough to everyones shock a flurry of leaves swirled in the arena in front of Naruto who stood there smirking.
'Finally...'
