Inspired by Ultimate Spider Man and The Masked Singer, here's a birthday done for Redbat132. Happy Birthday, Red! :)
Peter Parker laid on his bed, looking at the ceiling deep in thought. He and his friends stopped the Sinister Six after another life-threatening battle. His enemies are getting a lot bolder and devious. But his friends fight back much harder than his enemies. If it weren't for S.H.I.E.L.D. and the Web Warriors, Peter probably wouldn't even be in this room.
'They do so much for me.' Peter thought. He sat up. And I got to do something to return the favor. But what?'
With no ideas in his head, the teenage boy turned on his T.V. Just as he got channel stuck, he heard a knock on his door.
"Peter?" Aunt May came into the room. "You've been awfully quiet. Is everything alright?"
"Well...do you ever get the feeling you don't show your friends how much you care about them?" Peter asked. "I mean, my friends have done so much for me and I feel like I'm not doing enough to show them I care. I want to do something for them, but-WHOA!" Peter stared at the T.V. screen with startled eyes.
Aunt May jumped. "What is it?!"
"That!" Peter pointed at the screen. It was a person dressed as a pink crocodile wearing a glittery pink bowler hat, suit, and boa. It was one of the most wackiest things Peter has ever seen. He heard an audience cheer instead of laugh at this crazy costumed figure. "Who's this clown?!"
May's eyes lit up. "Oh! That's the Crocodile! From, 'The Masked Singer!'"
"The what?"
"The Masked Singer! Peter, I can't believe you haven't heard of this show! It's the best show ever!" Peter practically felt the excitement coming from May's words. "It's where famous people wear crazy costumes, perform, and the panellists try to find out who they are! And the best performer wins the golden mask trophy!"
Peter was skeptical about this show. But he had to see this for himself. A guy singing in a crazy pink crocodile suit was too good to pass up. He shrugged and watched the performer sing.
The moment the Crocodile started singing, Peter's mind was already blown! This guy was actually really good! He was singing 'It's My Life', by Bon Jovi.
When the song ended, May smiled seeing the stunned reaction on her nephew's face.
"That. Was. AWESOME!" Peter shouted, excited. "That guy was amazing!"
"Yeah! Croc is one of my favorites this season!" May said, equally excited. "But the competition is really tough!"
"You mean there are others as good as him?!" asked Peter.
"You bet your web shooters there are! Let's keep watching!"
And so, May and Peter binge-watched the rest of The Masked Singer. And Peter was completely addicted to it! He loved it all! The humor, the costumes, the performances, it was the best show ever!
That's when Peter got an idea. "I got it! I know how I can pay it forward to my friends!" He gave his aunt a hug and took off.
At S.H.I.E.L.D Academy, Peter, know dressed as Spider Man, talked to his friends Rose. "A themed Homecoming Dance party?" Rose inquired.
"Yeah! And I got the theme all worked out!" said Spider Man. He whispered his idea to Rose. As he whispered, Rose's eyes grew bigger and bigger.
"Are you serious?!" Rose blurted out.
"Yeah! So, what do you think?" asked Spider Man.
"Well, part of me says, 'no way', and another part of me says, 'let's go for it.'"
"So, which side is stronger?"
Rose sighed. "Honestly, the side that says...'let's go for it.' My curiosity is the the breaker."
Spider Man fist pumped the air. "Sweet! So, how are we going to pull this off?"
"I think I know where to start." said Rose.
Around the chat, Rose shows up to hear what Peter is planning and tells him about a dress shop called Cardinal Boutique. "A friend of mine told me about having one of her besties owns a clothes store and comes up with the best outfits. I've never been there personally, but I was about to check it out. Want to join?"
Spider Man smiled under his mask.
Peter, Aunt May, Rose and the rest of the Web Warriors arrived to their destination. "The Cardinal Boutique?" said Peter, looking at the boutique.
"I've never heard of this place before." said May.
"You'll love it, trust me." Rosa said as she opened the doors.
Ben rolled his eyes. He wasn't looking forward to seeing costumes. He was too used to seeing his and everyone else's costumes.
When the friends walked in, everyone, even Ben, was in awe. Wall to wall were all kinds of costumes. Occupation costumes, fantasy costumes, everything you could imagine was in this one store.
"Hey, Rose!" Macy Monroe walked in from the back room. With her was Tina Fitzpatrick.
"Hey, Mac!" Rose greeted. "Guys, this is Macy Monroe and the owner, Tina Fitzpatrick."
Miles blinked. "You're the owner?!" he sputtered, pointing at Tina. He was surprised that the owner of a business was so young.
Tina nodded. "Yep. So, what can I do for you folks?"
"Well, we're looking for some costumes for a party." Peter said.
"Then you're in the right place!" Tina smiled. "In fact, I just finished setting up my latest collection!" She asked everyone to follow her to the back room. When everyone came in, they all gasped, but Peter gasped the loudest.
"You see, I was inspired by that T.V. show, 'The Masked Singer.' It's all the rage." Tina explained as everyone marveled at the costumes.
Peter was standing in front of a mannequin that was dressed in an outfit inspired by the Crocodile. It was all there. The sparkly pink outfit and boa, the giant bowtie, it was too good to be true!
"If you think those are nice, just wait until Masked Dancer shows up. I can't wait to see the movable outfits to get creative," Tina replied happily.
"Masked Dancer? Seriously?" Ben said.
"Seriously." said Tina. "So, look around and help yourself!"
May watched Peter and their friends trying on different costumes. Tina was a big help presenting outfits that describe the guys and girls perfectly.
It didn't take long for Peter to pick his costume. he chose the Crocodile.
"You're going to dress in that pink outfit?" Ben asked in disbelief.
"Hey, at least it's not a pig outfit." Peter responded. Everyone else laughed as Ben raised an eyebrow. Flash Thompson patted Ben on the shoulder.
"I'll explain it to you later, bro." said Flash.
"This Gremlin costume is kind of cool." said Miles. "I'll take it!"
"This is so awesome, bro!" said Flash, wearing the Dragon costume. "I look totally rad!"
Chi was wearing the astronaut costume. "Feels like I'm in one of Mr. Stark's prototype armors."
May Jane started making poses in front of the mirror. "This Seahorse costume is all mine!"
Ben wasn't really paying attention. He really didn't want to wear any of these costumes. His train of thought was put on hold when he felt a tap on his shoulder.
"How about this one, Ben?" Peter showed him the Serpent costume.
Ben raised an eyebrow. "Well, it's not completely ridiculous, I mean, sure, it looks like a 1980's version of GI Joe, but it's not nearly as ridiculous as yours." He took the Serpent costume. "What about you...Rose..." He paused as he turned and saw Rose.
Rose was dressed as a snow owl, the most beautiful snow owl Ben has ever seen.
"Now THAT'S a winner, Rose!" said Peter with two thumbs up.
"You think? Because I should go with Ben's costume. Because like the Serpent, I'm quite deadly."
Ben smirked. "Oh, yeah? Well, so am I."
"Well, you make that snow owl costume work." Tina said to Rose as the others kept browsing. "This is one of my favorite outfits to create from my favorite two contestants, the Snow Owls. I knew, just by looking at them, that they were two love birds of a feather." She showed Tina the male snow owl costume
As Rose looked at both costumes, she knew the female Snow Owl dress is exactly perfect for her. However, it would be an incomplete match without a male partner. But she knew Ben would never go for being a snow owl.
From a distance, Ben saw how Rose looked happy when seeing the Snow Owl outfits but turned away slightly sad-like. He knew snow owls are Rose's favorite type of animal because she told him before. Ben was about to tell Rose she should go for the snow owl costume, but he saw her already purchasing it, so he held back his words.
Tonight was the night and the party was in full swing. Rose looked at herself in the mirror to see the gorgeous dress she had on.
"You look beautiful, Rose."
Rosa turned and saw T'Challa and Shuri. "Thanks," Rose smiled.
"Shall we be your escorts?" Shuri offered. Rose nodded and walked with the royal family members.
Everyone was having a great time at the party. The costumes were a big hit. Peter never knew this party would be such a success. But he noticed Rose looking a bit...worried. "Hey, Rose. You alright?"
Rose looked around. "I can't find Ben anywhere! Did you think he bailed?"
"Who knows? Maybe...I could ask Aunt May." He took out his phone.
"Where is she anyway?" asked Rose.
"Well, she said something came up and couldn't make it. But it's cool." Peter frowned and hung up. "It went to voicemail." Peter saw Rose with her mouth hanging open. "What?" He looked and his mouth dropped too.
The duo spotted someone wearing the male snow owl costume. He even had on a mask that somehow looked familiar to Rose.
"Ah, Hayden came." said T'Challa.
"That's Hayden under there?!" Rose gasped.
T'Challa nodded. "You may even call him Knight Owl." he joked. A slow jam began to play and 'the Knight Owl' offered his hand to Rose, wanting to dance. Rose smiled and accepted. As they waltzed together, everyone was amazed by their dancing. Even Rose was surprised by how well Hayden was dancing. His moves were different, but very smooth.
Laughing a bit, Rose accepted a dance with her 'brother'. Both a slow dance and fast upbeat dance for the two of them. Practically everyone there was amazed by their dancing. Although she shouldn't be surprised because of knowing Hayden well-trained to dance, Rose felt something off about his moves. As if they were completely different yet very smooth.
Later, after the dance was over, Rose returned to the Wakandan Embassy with the Knight Owl by her side. However, before heading to her room, Knight Owl takes her hand and leads her to the deactivated training room in a hurry.
"Whoa! Hayden, what is the meaning of this?!" Rose shouted.
To her surprise, Knight Owl chuckled before taking off his mask.
"BEN?!" Rose practically screamed. No wonder the mask looked familiar, it was a white version of Scarlet Spider's mask, along with the ice blue lenses and feathered owl mask in front.
"Man! The look on your face was so worth it!" Ben laughed. "T'Challa and May helped set up the whole thing."
Rose gasped. So that's why May didn't come, she was plotting this alongside Ben and T'Challa!
"So, you up for one more dance?" Ben offered.
"You bet your tail feathers I am!" Rose said happily. They went back on the dance floor. "I gotta say, I had no idea dancing was one of your super powers." she joked.
"Well, I may or may not have been taking a few dance lesson from Aunt May," Ben said, making Rose laugh again.
"Well, I'm guessing you have, cause it clearly shows." Rose grinned. She gave Ben a smooch on the cheek. Despite his efforts, Ben couldn't help but blush.
