Elena didn't know what to say,if the man in front of her didn't have a dead serious look and she knew of her husband to be incapable of pulling a joke or prank like this she wouldn't have believed what she heard but it kinda looked like it was all real.

"And your child when born will be declared Prince or Princess and the person next in line to inherit the throne of our great nation.Congratulations."

Wait what.

"How did you know?"she had told Damon just hours before and no one else."Just moments ago you pretended like you didn't know who I was and now you know I am pregnant within hours of me knowing."It was now getting creepy.

The smile that this Ric gave her made her have mixed emotions it was comforting as well as scary.

"There is little I don't know about you and your husband Elena,although we meet for the first time,I probably know more about you than probably anyone else on this planet excluding you and Damon.I may know things about you Damon doesn't even know,since it is my job to protect the interests of the royal family,even estranged ones like your husband as the crown prince of our kingdom.I hadn't paid much attention to any of his previous let's say relationships as they were never serious and 5 years ago it all changed,so the woman who changed him well I had to know about her."

"So you've been stalking me,I am flattered Ric."

Well there was her husband's sarcastic sense of humor which Elena still wasn't sure she loved or hated.

"Yes I have Damon,so yeah Elena I am sorry your Majesty it is my duty to know,protect and advice the royal family of Grande Isola as the Minister of Interior Affairs,which comes with alot of powers and resources that made it possible for me to know about your pregnancy which accelerated our already rushed efforts to inform and prepare you about what's to come.Since you may not know it now but you are at a very high risk if someone else comes to know about you and your child.As far as I know nobody except I has followed Damon."

"Feeling the love Ric."Damon interrupted.

"Damon!!!!"Ric exclaimed with her.

Well atleast she wasn't the only one finding it irritating,she already was all over the place and Damon wasn't helping.He held up his hand in the air as a I give up gesture and suddenly his arms were around her comforting her.She was home.

"As I was saying as the Crown Prince and his wife who is carrying a future King or Queen of Grande Isola,you are a danger to the bid for the throne many people.So it would be best if we leave for the Imperial City as soon as possible."

Imperial City,Kingdom of Grande Isola

"As the King stays under medical care,we at Grande News along with our his fellow subjects wish him a healthy recovery.With Caroline Forbes this is Andie Star with the Imperial Report."

As the TV report ended.

The woman watching the broadcast turned towards her right and said "Have you found him?"

"No,he is yet to be found."

"He isn't intelligent enough to hide so well that you can't find him,is he?"the question was an insult and he knew it.

"He had no reason to hide,this has all been done by that Saltzman."

"Whatever he did or did not do ,you have to find him before it's too late.Lorenzo,I hope you will not disappoint me."

In the TV studio

"So they are saying the Old Guis may croak."Andy remarked to her younger co-host.

"What?"Caroline Forbes was shook out of her own world.

"You know the king,my sources at the hospital say he may die."

"He might,he has not been looking good for months."Caroline remarked she had went to the palace a few times to meet her mother and the king had not been it the best of health.

"Yeah so if he does who would you bet on to rule."

"Is there anyone left to rule."Caroline was sceptic the Royal affairs were a hot mess according to ber mother,the leader of the armed forces of Grande Isola.

"They might bring back one of the princes if they are even alive."

"I don't know about Stephen but I hope Damon Salvatore died in a ditch somewhere."

Andi was shocked she didn't know Caroline that closely despite co-hosting with her for years but she had never known Caroline to wish harm on anyone seriously.She knew that their views differed on the elder Salvatore brother but despite her best efforts she could never convince her that he was not a bad man.

She wished in her heart that Damon was healthy and he may come back so she could ask him directly what had he done to deserve this much hate from the blonde.

"So as soon as our flight takes off preparations will begin in the Imperial City for a press conference that will announce the death of the King and your scheduled crowning which will take place in 7 days as per the royal customs."

Well atleast they were back in their house which Elena has insisted upon and well apparently as the Queen or whatever she was right now according to Ric as he insisted her to call him,her wish was their command albeit a difficult one as he had planned to just grab them from the ice cream shop and leave.

"Hold on Ric so are you saying that no one knows that he's dead."

"Yes Damon that's exactly what I am saying,according to the rules of our court we have 36 hours to declare the king dead if the next in line is not well there."

Elena's head was swirling as her husband who till now was well just a bar owner was actually a Prince.As a child like many other girls she had dreamt about a Prince Charming and Damon was it for her but in her wildest dreams he was never a literal Prince.The cocky man she had met in the bar with a mystery around him,the man who became better as she came to know him more.She thought she knew everything worth knowing about him but well he still surprised her.

Apparently their was no way out of becoming the King and Queen as Ric explained it.Damon's mother and father had separated legally and now she was formally out of the royal family despite her claims to the contrary which were supported by very tiny fraction of the population.

Damon's brother Stephan,about whom she had never heard about except in passing was somehow ineligible and after that most people in line were incompetent and incapable to rule according to Ric.

"So..."that infuriating smile on his face.

"So what Damon?"she didn't know why but Elena felt like crying,it wasn't a bad news nor was it a news she was very happy about she didn't know how to take it.

"Hey hey hey...it's alright...it's gonna be okay"as he wrapped his arms around her"I told you Elena years ago and I will say so again I chose you,I will always chose you and now our little Elena over anyone else in this world."

As Elena chuckled and cried at the same time,little Elena and Damon's love for her,"How do you know it's going to be a little Elena and not a little Damon.?"Little Damon well Elena never realised she could feel this squishy inside.When she held the blood test results she had never properly imagined how their child would look like but little Damon.

"Oh there will be one but this one's an Elena."

"Oh really."

"Oh yes."

"We'll see about that but Damon what about ..."

"As I told you it's whatever you decide."

"Damon I can't decide they are your people,your country.Who as per Ric are doomed without you,as the country might riot."

The way Damon nonchalantly shrugged his shoulders may make Damon seem like a cold hearted bad man but he was not any of it and the good in him was there and that was the man Elena fell in love with and she wanted her child to see that as well.

So probably because she was pregnant and emotionally all over the place she decided to flip her life upside down for...umm...whatever was the population of her future or current kingdom.

"So what's next if we decide to proceed."

"So it would be best that we leave as quickly as possible,I have the jet fuelled and ready to take off.There is just enough time left for us to get to the Imperial City and prepare for the national address to announce the demise of the king,your return,your marriage and your coronation."

Elena was tired and as Ric explained the days that were to follow in this crazy stupid world she was entering she just wanted to curl up to her husband and sleep but suddenly she was fully awake as her husband arguing with Ric on something,she had apparently lost a but if the conversation.

"She is not going alone on National TV for some chit chat."

"But the nation needs to know their future queen..."

"Then I will go with her."

"No they need to know the queen and her perspective on you a d the kingdom."

"Those TV people are crazy trust me,I know."

"I think the nation remembers how. you know but we will not send her to the gossip ones we will send her to Imperial Report they are a news show with female hosts who would be sympathetic towards a pregnant woman."

"Can we discuss all that later."Elena interrupted as the debate was getting heated and she just wanted to sleep peacefully.

"As you command your majesty."Ric said with a bow.

Being bowed to was weird.

Which in a weird way reminded her of..

"Damon what about Jeremy and my job?"

"If you desire it could be arranged for your brother to join you,as for your job...

"Elena go to sleep I will take care of everything.You're tired."Damon gently put her head on his lap and kissed her.

They were still discussing various arrangements when she fell asleep.There was some discussion about Jeremy joining them as Ric probably knew about his past troubles.Ric wasn't exactly sure about how she would do her work as no previous Queen had worked other than as a Queen whatever they did but Damon told him to find a way because he knew how important it was for her to be a doctor.Were the previous Queens lazy was her second last thought.

Grande Isola here we come.
