The Crumbling Orb EPISODE VI: A Quick Story of Investigation
Chapter 1: Pestilence
An eye opened having a black iris and a young man sat up from bed noticing his alarm going off.
He tried to shut it off but instead grabbed it and threw it at the wall breaking it and it toppled over other broken alarms.
He got up opening the blinds to look at the capital city of Palaven, the Turian Homeworld. The capital city is known as Cipritine.
He walked to the bathroom and right as he entered, outside the window was the glowing orb/sphere/crystalline just floating by toward the busy city and when he came out of the bathroom it wasn't there for him to notice.
A few minutes later, there was a speeder car waiting at the front of the apartments he lived at and there was a young woman inside who watched as it began to rain.
The young man waved at the female inside and as he headed toward her he waited for a green-haired man to walk by.
"Lovely morning isn't it?" The green-haired man said.
"Raining." The young man said with a shrug.
"Sometimes the rain can be a beautiful thing." The green-haired man said.
The green-haired man kept walking off and the young man's eyebrow cocked but continued to the speeder.
"Guy looks sort of like me..." The young man said to himself softly.
The young man got into the passenger seat and smiled looking at her.
"Hi, Makoto." The young man said.
"Akira." Makoto said.
Makoto drove off on the lower street and the two was silent for a while.
Akira went to grab something but Makoto went for it as well and the two's hands touched and then they pulled away with a faint blush on their faces.
"Sorry." Akira said.
"Go ahead." Makoto said.
"No it's okay, you can go for it first." Akira said.
Makoto smiled and picked up a piece of gum and then Akira did the same for the other piece and both began to chew.
"So, what did the office say?" Akira asked.
"Just another boring assignment, we have to question someone who looks sketchy. It's about the thief case." Makoto said.
"I really wished we did something more exciting when we graduated from the detective academy, not just talk to petty criminals." Akira said.
"Same, I wish we could take down drug lords. But remember we are on the Turian Homeworld, the crime rate is low due to their military status in the Galaxy being quite big." Makoto said.
"How come the boss doesn't send us off-planet to perhaps Coruscant or Illium?" Akira asked.
"Because the boss doesn't want us to be involved in Federation affairs, especially now since there was proof of the Federation council being up to no good." Makoto said.
"We're both twenty-three years old, we should live our lives to the fullest you know?" Akira said.
"I agree but how about we take it easy for a while and keep trying to prove we are ready for the big leagues." Makoto said glancing over to him.
A few minutes later, the speeder parked up beside a nightclub that was closed until night but they opened the doors walking in to see one bartender on his holocom and two Turians talking at a table.
"That must be them?" Akira asked.
"Or them." Makoto said.
Makoto pointed to four humans in the corner of the room talking, two males and one female, and a Miqo'te that looked female but was a boy named L'aera.
They walked over to the group and the one male clutched an item on his necklace.
"Take a wrong turn somewhere?" The man asked.
"My name is Akira Ren, this is my detective partner, Makoto Niijima." Akira said.
Akira and Makoto showed their detective rookie class badges.
The man let go of his item and beckoned them to get closer.
"Yukio, scoot- Yukio!" The man shouted.
Yukio the other young male in the group looked up from playing a portable video game.
"What, Kugo?" He asked.
"Scoot over for the detectives." Kugo said.
"Why don't they sit beside Riruka, not like she's doing anything." Yukio said.
The young female with them puffed her cheeks glaring at Yukio.
"We will stand thank you." Makoto said.
"What do you guys want?" Kugo asked.
"Witness' say that they saw three humans here last night pickpocketing random drunk people and splitting the money with one another outside before leaving. Two young human males and one young human female." Makoto said looking at her notes.
Kugo had an amused look on his face.
"Could have been anyone." Kugo said.
Akira looked at Yukio and grabbed his game.
"Hey!" Yukio shouted.
"You get it back if you-" Akira began to say.
"Yeah we stole people's credits, now please give me that back." Yukio said.
Kugo, L'aera and Riruka facepalmed.
"Okay, well. Let me guess we are under arrest huh?" Kugo asked.
"Yes." Akira said while handing the game back to Yukio.
Yukio immediately caught up to what he was doing.
"Alright well, stand up." Makoto said grabbing handcuffs.
Kugo clutched the item on his necklace and immediately it glowed and summoned his large claymore sword while Riruka summoned a strange gun and Yukio with his game suddenly operated it to shock a few disabled cleaning droids to operate and hold their brooms like weapons and stared at Akira and Makoto. L'aera punched the table shattering some wood off and gripped it like a sword.
Akira and Makoto brought out their guns and took aim at them.
"Bullet is faster." Akira said to Kugo.
"So's mine." Riruka said.
The bartender and two patrons went under their tables.
"So, we're at a standstill." Makoto said.
"I say we club them now." L'aera said.
"Look, we-" Kugo began to say.
Makoto shot Riruka's weapon out of her hand and Akira aimed his gun at Yukio's game device.
"Next one goes in your head, mouthy." Makoto said to Kugo.
Kugo sighed and de-summoned his weapon and the others did too while holding their hands up.
"Cuff him." Makoto said.
Akira walked over cuffing each one and they guided them out.
"Strange items." Makoto said putting them in bags.
"It's complicated but it's held within reiatsu for us." Yukio said.
"My knuckles have some piercings under the skin, those are my reiatsu weapons." L'aera said.
"Oh god, you're going to stuff us in that thing!" Riruka shouted.
"Hey, this is a pretty good speeder." Makoto said.
"Pretty good? Ugly good more like it." Riruka said.
"Just shut up, you're going to make it worse for us." Kugo said.
"Tell me to shut up and I'll beat you." Riruka mumbled.
They got in and Makoto drove toward the nearest police station.
"Well, again, a boring day on the job." Akira said.
Makoto checked for messages and there was none.
"No crime reported." Makoto said.
"So I was thinking, perhaps we could maybe get some coffee?" Akira asked.
Makoto blushed a bit.
"Coffee?" Makoto asked.
"Since there isn't anything really going on. Maybe we could talk about, you know." Akira said.
"About?" Makoto asked.
"Well, we've been partners for a year and gotten to know one another really well. I thought maybe if it's okay it can be a coffee date?" Akira asked.
Makoto nearly drove the wrong way and had to stop.
"Careful!" Kugo shouted.
Makoto looked at Akira in shock.
"I shouldn't have asked, I'm sorry." Akira said.
"No, I am just surprised you finally asked me on a date is all." Makoto said.
"Finally asked you?" Akira said.
Makoto just smiled at him.
"I'd love coffee." Makoto said.
"Yeah great you two are going to have a date, but can we hurry it up and process us!" Riruka shouted.
"I'm turning the radio on to a child network and blast the music back there." Makoto said.
Riruka shut up while Akira just laughed.
"Let's head off." Makoto said.
Meanwhile, standing on the roof of a building was two Aogiri members, one named Sion and the other named Kento.
"With Eto MIA and Aogiri's failure recently, we are the last two members." Sion said.
"The Federation at least is in trouble." Kento said.
Sion lowered his hood to reveal him being an older man with a goatee and Kento lowering his robe to show he was a young man with dark-green hair tied into a ponytail.
"It's up to us to finish our organization's goal. We need to truly cripple the Federation and the Turians here have the biggest military in the galaxy." Sion said.
"Yet we don't have Eto to-" Kento began to say.
"I am the new leader of Aogiri." Sion said sternly to Kento up to his face.
Kento just nodded.
"Yes sir." Kento said.
"Open the case, let's see where that orb is." Sion said.
Kento reached down opening a bag and brought out the device that Saren stole.
"Mike and Sinkow was such fools to let themselves die so easily. Luckily we found it on Polus so, perhaps their deaths won't be in vain. Eto wanted us to destroy the orb but she is one minded, I say we use it to our advantage." Sion said.
Kento typed on the device and suddenly it began to beep rapidly while he aimed it to the north.
"Excellent, so it is in the city. Shame we killed the man we questioned, guess he was telling the truth." Kento said.
"Doesn't matter. Now let's cause an accident and find the orb." Sion said.
Sion held both his hands up toward a Turian frigate that was flying in the sky and showed to have force abilities and began to force pull it down.
Kento waited and looked toward the north while looking at the device's pinpointing locator.
The Turian frigate's engines disabled and Sion let it drop right toward the ground.
