Once Upon a Time in Enchancia

Welcome to Chapter 57 of "Once Upon a Time in Enchancia". Song in this chapter: "Way Back When" from the "Elena of Avalor" episode "The Lightning Warrior".

Chapter 57: New Things (Part Three)

October 10, 1870

It was a Monday morning at Scarlett's palace in Cinnibar. In the palace gym, Hematite was reading the Hope Incantation to herself as she twirled her wand in her fingers.

"Power of the sun. Gift me with your light. Shine into the dark. Restore our fading sight. Rise into the dawn. Blazing star so bright. Burn away the strife. Let my hope ignite. Let hope ignite."

"You doing good?" Scarlett asked, smiling.

"Yes. Isn't this one of the four incantations that Lord Demanatus wrote?" Hematite wanted to know.

"Of course," Scarlett acknowledged. "The spell is powered by the Sundrop. But it's useless without the Moonstone to balance it. We have the Sundrop, but I have yet to find a sample of the Moonstone. Which is why Faith has Crimson Force searching for any descendants of Cassandra of Corona."

"It's kind of tough to find someone who doesn't want to be found," Hematite pointed out. "Why don't you just help me defeat Bronwyn yourself?"

"Defeating Bronwyn isn't my destiny, Hematite. It's yours," Scarlett announced as she left the gym.

Meanwhile, in another dimension, at the Duel Academy Slifer Red dorm, Jesse Anderson was in his bed, sleeping. Jesse had recently transferred to Duel Academy. As Jesse slept, Jaden Yuki stood looking at Jesse.

"Wake up, Jesse," Jaden started. "We'll be late for class if we don't hurry!"

Jesse yawned and shifted to his right-hand side. "Ne sasete, Judai-kun" ("Let me sleep, Jaden)."

At that moment, Jesse's girlfriend (Blair Flannigan) walked in. "Our Crystal Master won't wake up again this morning?"

"This is what I was afraid of after Jesse and I returned from being summoned to help out Princess Jade in the Ever Realm," Jaden remarked.

"Maybe contact Jade through her friend Timothy's body," Blair suggested. "Maybe she can help Jesse."

"Good idea, Blair," Jaden smiled.

Back in Cinnibar, in Scarlett's palace, Scarlett was sitting in her office when Colette walked in.

"Scarlett," Colette announced.

"Yes, Colette?" Scarlett responded.

"Eleanor Lewis from Warehouse Ten is here," Colette informed Scarlett.

"Show her in," Scarlett directed, curious.

"Scarlett," Eleanor greeted.

"What brings you to Cinnibar?" Scarlett asked.

"We've heard about you looking for some Moonstone," Eleanor started. "As head of Warehouse Ten, I directed the Regents to search the warehouse. In our Dark Vault, we came across this."

Eleanor then put a small wooden chest on Scarlett's desk. Scarlett then opened the chest and found a black rock inside.

"I'd be careful," Eleanor warned. "It reacts to touch."

Scarlett put her finger against the rock, and it started to glow. Scarlett quickly pulled her finger away, and the rock stopped glowing.

"My God! Moonstone!" Scarlett exclaimed.

"Yes," Eleanor smiled. "Consider it a gift from us to you."

"That's very generous," Scarlett remarked, touched.

"If this can help you in your fight against the Witch Revolutionary Front, then we are more than happy to give it to you," Eleanor happily responded.

Meanwhile, at Hexley Hall, ten-year-old Timothy and a now eighteen-year-old Jade were running to Divination class because they were late. Suddenly, Jade noticed Timothy glowing.

"Timothy?" Jade asked, worried. "Are you all right?"

"Don't be alarmed, Princess Jade," a male voice came from Timothy's body. "It's I, Jaden Yuki."

"Jaden? How did you find me?" Jade asked, shocked.

"I've borrowed your friend, Timothy O'Toole's body so I can contact you," Jaden revealed. "You are needed at Duel Academy right away."

"What's going on?" Jade wanted to know.

"It's Jesse," Jaden started. "I pulled some strings with Chancellor Sheppard to transfer Jesse to Duel Academy so I could keep an eye on him due to his extreme fatigue. Anyway, he's in his bed in the Slifer dormitory and Blair and I can't do anything to wake him. Even his Crystal Beasts are worried about him, especially Sapphire Pegasus and Ruby Carbuncle!"

"How am I suppose to get to your dimension?" Jade asked, puzzled. "Wait a minute! I'll speak with Headmistress Lovegood. Perhaps she'll know a way?"

Timothy then returned to normal. "What happened?" Timothy wanted to know.

"Your body was taken over by somebody I know from another dimension," Jade answered. "The people over there need our help."

"These people aren't from the Magisterium, are they?" Timothy asked, worried.

"I don't know about any Magisterium," Jade responded. "These people are from a place called Duel Academy. Come! We have to find Miss Lovegood!"

In a few minutes, Jade and Timothy entered Miss Lovegood's office, and Jade explained to Miss Lovegood about what had just happened.

"I may have a way to help," Lovegood smiled as she pulled out of her desk drawer ... an Enchantlet.

"You're a Protector?" Timothy asked, taken off guard.

"An undercover Protector," Lovegood explained. "I've been a Protector for a few years. Wait here. I'll be back in a few minutes."

After a few minutes, Lovegood stepped back into her office.

"I've been in contact with Vega, head of the Protectors," Lovegood announced. "The three of us are to immediately go to the Mystic Isles. We'll get there on our brooms. I'll lead the way. But, before we go, you have to promise something, Princess Jade."

"What do I have to promise?" Jade wanted to know.

"I'll be taking you to a top-secret area of the Protectors castle," Lovegood started. "Timothy already knows about it, and has promised to keep it secret. In order to proceed, you must promise to keep the area a secret as well."

"I promise," Jade pledged. "Will this area be able to help Jesse?"

"Indeed it will," Lovegood reassured Jade. "I'll have Deputy Headmaster Yuki Moto take over for me while I'm gone, then the three of us will be on our way."

A reunion

A little while later, in the kitchen of Scarlett's palace, Rita Fernandez Iñarritu (the new identity of Carla Delgado) was doing some cooking for lunch when Princess Faith walked into the kitchen.

"Princess Faith," Rita smiled. "I thought you were in school."

"I had more pressing business to take care of," Faith smiled back as she motioned a man to come into the kitchen. The man was Victor Delgado.

"What is he doing here?!" Rita demanded to know. "I told you that part of my life was over with!"

"We need him, Rita," Faith pointed out. "We need all the help we can get for the fight against the Witch Revolutionary Front which is going to come sooner or later."

"I've changed for the better," Rita reminded Faith. "He hasn't."

"Believe it or not, I have changed," Victor spoke up.

"Talk is cheap!" Rita spat. "If you've changed, prove it!"

"I see you're cooking," Victor gently said with a smile. "That brings back memories."

"Of a time long gone," Rita sadly responded as she went back to cooking.

Victor walked over and started singing. "I remember a simpler time, before our path had turned to crime. Life was humble but true. You and I were all that we knew. Before the darkness of night, there was laughter and light."

(Rita) "I remember those early years, before our life was filled with tears. I knew my days of the week, by the dishes we'd eat. On Fridays we made feijoada. On Sundays it was enchilada."

(Victor and Rita) "La vida it can be so strange. What you think you want can change. All the mistakes that have been made, leave scars that will never fade. And so for now let's just pretend, it's way back when. For one last meal let's just pretend, it's way back when."

"Is that ... Moqueca?" Victor asked as he smelled what Rita was cooking.

"Yes," Rita smiled. "Queen Scarlett loves Avaloran cooking."

(Victor and Rita) "La vida it can be so strange. What you think you know can change. All the mistakes that have been made, leave scars that will never fade. And so for now let's just pretend, it's way back when. For one last meal let's just pretend, it's way back when."

(Victor) "Life was easier then."

(Rita) "Could it be that way again?"

(Victor) "One day it may come again."

(Victor and Rita) "Like we were way back when."

"Maybe things can be different," Rita said under her breath.

"All I'm asking for is a chance," Victor gently said as he hugged Rita.

"Okay," Rita agreed. "But, there's still lunch to prepare. Will you be staying here for lunch, Princess Faith?"

"Yes," Faith answered. "I'll be here in the palace all day."

"Then we're going to need more Moqueca," Rita said as she got more ingredients.

"I can help," Victor smiled. "You and I always made quite the good cooking team."

"Let's get started then," Rita smiled back. "Just don't over pepper."

"Yes, ma'am," Victor joked as he and Rita got to work.

As Faith started to leave the kitchen, she happily looked at Rita and Victor working together. "That worked out quite well," Faith thought to herself.

Arrival

A little while later, Miss Lovegood, Timothy, and Jade arrived at the Mystic Isles on their brooms. As they flew over the Mystic Isles, Jade looked at the scene in awe. Soon, the three arrived at the Protector's Castle.

"Wow!" Jade thought to herself in awe. "Sofia was right. This place is awesome!"

As Lovegood, Timothy, and Jade walked up to the castle, Vega came out to greet them.

"Gayle, Timothy, welcome back," Vega smiled, before turning her attention fully to Timothy. "I hear Dorrie and Candice are teaching you to shield your mind from psychic intrusion."

"Yes, Vega," Timothy acknowledged. "After my encounter with Mister Perri, Miss Fauna thought it wise that I should be trained to shield my mind from those who might probe it looking for information. Miss Fauna contacted Dorrie and Candice, and they've been training me. It's been going quite well."

"I'm glad to hear it," Vega responded, pleased, before turning to Jade. "And welcome, Princess Jade. I trust you'll keep secret what I am about to show you?"

"I will, ma'am," Jade promised.

"If the three of you will follow me, I'll lead you to the portal room," Vega directed.

In a few moments, Vega, Lovegood, Timothy, and Jade walked into the room containing the portal of alternate realities.

"Where are you going, again?" Vega asked Lovegood, Timothy, and Jade.

"Duel Academy," Jade spoke up. "Someplace called Slifer Red dorm."

"Ah, yes," Vega acknowledged as she adjusted some dials on a control panel, and the portal activated. "The portal will lead you to Duel Academy's Slifer Red dorm."

Lovegood, Timothy, and Jade walked through the portal and appeared in Duel Academy's Slifer Red dorm. As they entered the dorm, the three came across a chaotic sight.

"YUBEL! YOU WON'T BE POSSESSING EITHER ME OR ANY OF MY FRIENDS ANYMORE! NOT WHILE I'M STILL ALIVE TO DUEL, ANY WAY!" Jesse yelled out in his sleep, furious.

"Yubel?!" Jade questioned, worried. "Jesse's dreaming of that horrible monster! You didn't put her in my deck, did you, Jaden?"

"Jade, you're here," Jaden responded, relieved. "And no, I didn't put her into your deck. I fused Yubel's spirit with that of the Supreme King."

"Then, why has she appeared in Jesse's dream?" Jade questioned.

"Beats me," Jaden responded, shrugging his shoulders.

Gale Dogra, a monster from the deck, walked up. "How long has he been like this?"

"Since our six o'clock wake up call!" Blair Flannigan answered. "Crowler is not going to be too pleased about this!"

Jesse, still asleep, shifted position on the bed and said "I summon Crystal Beast Topaz Tiger ... in attack mode!"

Jesse's real Topaz Tiger suddenly appeared as a hologram and began attacking Blair, thinking she was Yubel. Jade's Crystal Beast Topaz Tiger then appeared to Jade to give Jade some advice. "Jade, use your wand."

"My wand! Right!" Jade remembered as she pulled out her wand, and aimed it at the hologram of Jesse's Topaz Tiger. "Immobulus!"

The hologram of Jesse's Topaz Tiger then froze in place, affected by Jade's spell.

"Well, that takes care of one problem," Blair said, relieved. "Now, what do we do about Jesse?"

Jade's Topaz Tiger then walked over to Jade. "You must get Blair to use her Maiden In Love deck to defeat Jesse's Crystal Beasts, that is how Blair can free Jesse ... by unlocking his heart."

"I see, but what if he still suffers from extreme fatigue?" Jade asked.

"That is where your friend Timothy comes in," Jade's Topaz Tiger started. "Instruct him to give some of his Liquid Dawn Potion supply to Jesse."

"All right," Jade agreed as Jade's Topaz Tiger returned to Jade's deck. Jade then turned to Blair. "Did you hear that?"

"Yes," Blair responded as she brought out her deck. "Now what?"

"Step away from Jesse and his Topaz Tiger," Jade instructed as Blair stepped away, and Jade raised her wand at Jesse's Topaz Tiger. "Unimmobulus!"

Jesse's Topaz Tiger unfroze, as Blair quickly activated her deck. Before anybody knew it, the creatures from Blair's deck and the creatures from Jesse's deck started battling each other. In a short while, the creatures from Blair's deck had overpowered the creatures from Jesse's deck. As the creatures went back to their respective decks, Jesse awoke.

"What ... happened?" Jesse asked, still groggy. "And Princess Jade. What are you doing here?"

"It's a long story," Jaden smiled.

"I'm so sleepy," Jesse revealed.

"Drink some of this," Timothy said to Jesse as he handed Jesse a vial of Timothy's Liquid Dawn Potion.

"Okay," Jesse agreed as he drank some of the potion. "Hey! I'm already starting to feel better."

"That's good," Blair said, pleased.

"I'll write down the recipe for Timothy's Liquid Dawn Potion," Miss Lovegood announced as she pulled out a small notebook, a piece of paper, and a pen from a backpack she was wearing.

"You know how to make my potion?" Timothy asked Lovegood, impressed.

"A good headmistress knows the needs of all of her students," Lovegood smiled.

"That's an impressive backpack you have," Jade said to Lovegood.

"Thanks," Lovegood acknowledged. "It has a little bit of this, and a little bit of that. It's sort of my version of Princess Isabel's Go Pack."

"Now that everything is okay, the three of you should be leaving while the going is good," Blair said to Lovegood, Jade, and Timothy. "If Crowler finds out there are strangers here, he'll blow a gasket."

"Crowler?" Jade asked, curious.

"Our Vice Principal," Jaden answered. "He can be cranky at times."

"Perhaps it is time we were going," Miss Lovegood agreed. "We wouldn't want to start any trouble here."

"I want to thank the three of you for helping me," Jesse smiled at Lovegood, Jade, and Timothy.

"You're welcome, Jesse," Jade smiled back.

Lovegood, Jade, and Timothy walked over to the portal and stepped through it. In a few moments, the portal disappeared from sight. A few moments later, Lovegood, Jade, and Timothy appeared in the room containing the portal of alternate realities.

"I take it your mission was a success, then?" Vega asked.

"Yes," Miss Lovegood answered.

"Good," Vega smiled. "I suggest that for the security of this portal, we keep what happened here a secret."

"Agreed," Lovegood, Jade, and Timothy said in unison.

"And, I'd like to request that my identity as an undercover Protector be kept secret," Miss Lovegood requested of Timothy and Jade.

"Of course, Miss Lovegood," Jade agreed.

"What was that about you being a Protector, again?" Timothy joked to Miss Lovegood.

"Then everything is as it should be," Vega happily observed.

The calm before the storm

That evening, at Scarlett's palace in Cinnibar, Scarlett, Faith, Rita, and Victor were having an enjoyable dinner.

"It's good to see the two of you back together again," Scarlett smiled at Rita and Victor.

"We've spent the day together, and we've both decided to start fresh," Rita smiled back.

"These days of being bad are over with," Victor declared. "Rita and I have both decided to turn over a new leaf."

"That's wonderful to hear," Scarlett approved. "Allow me to sweeten the pot as it were. How would the two of you like to join my army as trusted fighters?"

"Oh, Queen Scarlet," Victor started, touched. "I for one would be honored."

"As would I," Rita added with a pleased smile.

"Then I'll make the arrangements in the morning," Scarlett announced. "Let's spend tonight having a good meal ... as friends."

Scarlett, Faith, Victor, and Rita had a pleasant time eating and having a friendly conversation.

"Correct me if I'm wrong, Your Highness," Victor said to Scarlett. "But I believe that you and Ixlan the Lightning Warrior are the last two living Maruvians, no?"

"I am Maruvian by birth, this is true," Scarlett answered. "And I have Maruvian blood running through my veins. But my heart is Cinnibarian."

"You've truly created a paradise here in Cinnibar," Victor complimented Scarlett.

"Thank you, Victor," Scarlet responded, pleased.

Meanwhile, in Enchancia at Enchancia Castle, servants supper had ended, and the servants were in their rooms relaxing. In Candice's room, Candice was deep in thought when the ghost of Violet's sister, Megan, appeared out of thin air.

"You look like somebody who has the weight of the world on her shoulders," Megan observed.

"I've been recently handed something quite big," Candice began. "Lately, I've been wondering if I'm up to the task."

"I knew you were keeping something from us," Violet said as she and Dorrie walked into Candice's room and closed the door behind them.

"Come on, Candice ... spill," Dorrie requested.

"Well, how do I put this?" Candice responded.

"Just spitting it out is usually best," Violet advised.

"Okay, here it is," Candice started. "Technically, I'm under a Voyager Platinum Directive."

"You've been contacted by a Voyager from the future?" Dorrie asked, taken off guard.

"Myself actually," Candice revealed as she brought out the letter from her future self and handed it to Violet, with Dorrie looking over Violet's shoulder.

"Oh, my!" Violet exclaimed as she and Dorrie read the letter.

"You have been handed a big piece of pie," Dorrie admitted to Candice.

"The two of you do realize that you're now covered by the directive as well?" Candice asked Violet and Dorrie.

"Dorrie and I will help you through this," Violet promised.

"The three of you together can do anything," Megan smiled at Candice, Dorrie, and Violet.

October 22, 1870

It was a Saturday morning in Cinnibar. In Scarlett's palace, Sofia, Lucinda, Amber, Dorrie, Candice, Abby, and Violet were in Scarlett's office. In a few moments, Scarlett walked in and closed the door behind her.

"From what you've told Colette, this is pretty important," Scarlett remarked. "I'm listening."

"Go ahead," Violet urged as she gently pushed Candice forward.

"Scarlett," Candice began, "I have information that Bronwyn is in Arendelle."

"Interesting," Scarlett said as she pondered what Candice had just said. "Arendelle is the last place I would have expected Bronwyn to be. The place doesn't have witches to recruit."

"She's hiding out there, along with several members of the Witch Revolutionary Front," Candice informed Scarlett.

"Again ... interesting," Scarlett remarked. "But tell me, Candice. How do you know?"

"Scarlett, I've always been honest with you," Candice started. "This is Voyager supplied information. We've come to a point where I have to give history a nudge in the right direction, which is why I'm giving you the location of Bronwyn."

"You realize that not everybody gathered here is a Voyager?" Scarlett questioned.

"Actually, except for yourself, everybody here is a Voyager," Violet spoke up. "Dorrie, Candice, and I are Voyagers. Princess Amber has just become a Voyager. And Princess Sofia, Princess Lucinda, and Abby are training to be Voyagers."

"You people are just filled with surprises," Scarlett smiled. "All of you prepare for battle."

"I'm sorry, Scarlett," Candice apologized. "You can go, but the rest of us cannot. Our absence would be noticed, and might warn Bronwyn."

"Good point," Scarlett agreed. "I'll gather my army together, and we'll sail for Arendelle. The seven of you should return to Enchancia and act normally."

"Yes, Scarlett," Sofia, Lucinda, Amber, Dorrie, Candice, Abby, and Violet acknowledged as Candice stepped forward and presented Scarlett with a rolled-up map.

"This is where you'll find Bronwyn and those with her," Candice informed Scarlett.

"Thank you, Candice," Scarlett said in appreciation as she left.

"Well, everybody back aboard the carriage," Violet directed. "Remember, we were simply on a flying carriage joy ride."

"Mom, Dorrie," Candice said to Violet and Dorrie. "I have to make a side trip. I brought my broom with me. I'll be back home this afternoon."

"Understood," Violet acknowledged.

"We'll see you when you get home," Dorrie smiled at Candice.

As Candice walked off, Violet turned to Dorrie, Amber, Sofia, Lucinda, and Abby. "Remember, mums the word. We're all technically under Platinum Directive at this point."

"We'll act as if nothing is going on," Sofia promised.

As Candice walked out of Scarlett's palace, she spotted a convenient stone stairway that would take her down to the flying carriage. As she was about to go down the stairway, a woman's voice cried out for Candice to stop. Candice turned to see Rita and Victor standing there.

"That stairway is damaged," Rita informed Candice. "You'll have to take the long way around."

"Thank you," Candice said, grateful. "The last thing I want is to fall down a stairway."

"We'll escort you to where you are going," Victor offered. "Miss?"

"Candice ... Candice Cosmarune-Cooper," Candice introduced herself. "I'm going down to that carriage down there."

"Lady Candice?" Victor asked in awe.

"Yes," Candice smiled.

"I'm Victor Delgado, and I believe you know my daughter, Rita," Victor revealed.

"A pleasure to meet you, Mister Delgado," Candice warmly greeted. "So, this is Victor Delgado," Candice thought to herself.

As Victor and Rita walked Candice through Scarlett's palace, Rita came across a male guard. "Could you see that somebody is stationed at the outside stone stairway that is damaged? We wouldn't want to see anybody hurt trying to use it."

"I'll see to it immediately," the guard responded as he quickly walked off.

In a few minutes, Victor, Rita, and Candice arrived at the flying carriage. Candice reached under the carriage and pulled out her broom.

"I've best be off," Candice announced. "My sister, Dorrie, will fly the carriage back. It was nice meeting you, Mister Delgado. And it was nice seeing you again, Rita. Thank you for saving me from an accident."

"It was our pleasure, Lady Candice," Victor acknowledged.

That evening

In the sitting room of Scarlett's palace, Scarlett, Victor, and Rita were sitting.

"I understand you have the Book of Secrets in your collection?" Rita asked, standing up.

"Indeed," Scarlett conformed.

"That's why you're always a step ahead," Victor observed. "The Book of Secrets lets you know what's going to happen before it does."

"Despite that, it doesn't give me any sort of advantage," Scarlett revealed. "Not even I can alter what's written. What's in that book always happens. It's not always how you think it'll happen, but it always happens."

"I see," Rita acknowledged.

"Since we're talking about the Book of Secrets, I have something to discuss with you, Rita," Scarlett announced.

"What, Queen Scarlett?" Rita asked, curious.

"The Book of Secrets has revealed something about you," Scarlett answered. "According to the book, If you're going to be part of my forces, you need to know how to fight beyond magic."

"Okay. I get it," Rita acknowledged. "You want to train me to be a warrior. So how long are you going to be training me for?"

"None," Scarlett answered.

"Huh?" Rita asked as Victor turned to her.

"I will not be overseeing your training," Scarlett announced. "I have too much to deal with right now. So, I'm sending you to the Island of Themyscira."

"Themyscira?" Rita asked, puzzled.

"It's the home of the warrior women known as the Amazons," Scarlett revealed. "I spent many years training there myself, which is how I got as good at fighting as I am now."

"Am I going with her?" Victor asked, hopeful.

"I'm afraid not, Victor," Scarlett answered. "Men are strictly forbidden from physically setting foot on Themyscira. You can't go with her. But, rest assured, Rita will be well looked after there. And, when she returns, she'll be ready to join my forces."

"Then I won't let you down," Rita promised.

"I know you won't," Scarlett smiled.

October 27, 1870

It was a Thursday morning in Arendelle. Scarlett's forces had arrived over the past day, traveling to Arendelle on a variety of merchant ships, and posing as tourists. It was now time to travel to the valley where Bronwyn and those with her were camped out. The valley was in an out of the way part of Arendelle, so Bronwyn and those with her wouldn't draw attention to themselves. As Bronwyn and those with her went about what they considered normal business, Scarlett, Queen Anna, Hematite, and Victor watched from a nearby hill.

"Let's stay out of sight," Scarlett whispered as she motioned Anna, Hematite, and Victor to follow her.

"I can't believe this!" Anna exclaimed in a whisper. "Here they are, hiding out bold as brass in my own kingdom!"

"That won't be for much longer," Scarlett whispered reassuringly to Anna. "I have a plan. Victor, I'm going to need you to team up with somebody I brought with me."

"Of course, Queen Scarlett," Victor whispered in agreement.

The group walked away from the area until they could not be heard by Bronwyn and those with her.

"So, who am I being teamed up with, if I may ask?" Victor wanted to know.

"Him," Scarlett pointed as a Spanish man walked into sight.

"Him?!" Victor questioned in shock. "You do realize he's wanted in Avalor?!"

"Not any longer," Scarlett reassured Victor. "Esteban here has redeemed himself in the eyes of the Avaloran royal court."

"I'm not Chancellor of Avalor anymore," Esteban explained. "Naomi Turner is now Chancellor, which leaves me a free agent. Queen Scarlett offered me a place in her army, and I gladly accepted now that I'm back to being good."

"Well, well, well," Victor smiled. "Looks like you and I have both seen the light."

"Indeed, old friend," Esteban smiled back before turning to Scarlett. "What is your plan, my Queen?"

"I need you and Victor to go down to that opening between those two hills," Scarlett directed. "Once you are down there, take care of the two witches guarding the opening. You can use your wand, and Victor can use his tamborita."

"You have a wand?!" Victor asked Esteban, taken off guard.

"Queen Scarlett has been teaching me how to use my magic," Esteban explained.

In a short while, Victor and Esteban drove a horse-drawn wagon to the opening between the two hills.

"Stop!" one of the witches ordered. "Who are you, and what are you doing here?"

"We are traveling merchants," Esteban answered.

"We heard there was a group of campers here, and we thought we might interest you in our goods," Victor smiled.

"We have no need for merchants!" the other witch barked as Esteban and Victor climbed off of the wagon and uncovered the back of the wagon.

"We have fine merchandise," Esteban boasted. "If you would allow us to show you a few samples ..."

"Away with you!" the first witch ordered.

"Now, Esteban!" Victor commanded as he brought out his tamborita from the back of the wagon, and Esteban brought out his wand from the back of the wagon. The two witches quickly pulled out their wands.

"Bogato!" Victor and Esteban shouted as they magically blasted the two witches who fell over unconscious.

Scarlett and her forces raced into the valley. The witches of the Witch Revolutionary Front started firing on Scarlett's forces as Scarlett's forces fired back. In a few moments, Anna outstretched her hands and started shooting fire out of her hands which drove the witches back.

"Come on, Hematite," Scarlett commanded. "Let's go find Bronwyn."

Scarlett and Hematite raced off as the fighting between Scarlett's forces and the witches resumed. In a few moments, Scarlett and Hematite came across a huge cave.

"Let's check this out, Scarlett," Hematite suggested. "I have an odd feeling."

"Right behind you, old friend," Scarlett acknowledged as the two entered the cave.

"Yami no Kinbaku," a woman's voice called out as magical ropes of darkness wrapped themselves around Scarlett, restricting Scarlett's movement and magic. Out of the darkness walked Bronwyn as Hematite started racing forward. "Stop!" Bronwyn warned. "I'll destroy your Queen if you come any closer."

"You can't kill me, Bronwyn," Scarlett boasted. "Believe me, I've tried everything myself. I've been stabbed, shot, poisoned, frozen, hung, electrocuted, and burned. Absolutely nothing worked."

"Bronwyn ... let her go!" Hematite demanded.

"Never!" Bronwyn laughed.

"Hematite," Scarlett started. "You've drunk the Sundrop I gave you. You have the Moonstone amulet I created for you. Nail her. I'll be okay."

"Very well, Scarlett," Hematite acknowledged as she recited the Hope Incantation. "Power of the sun. Gift me with your light. Shine into the dark. Restore our fading sight. Rise into the dawn. Blazing star so bright. Burn away the strife. Let my hope ignite. Let hope ignite."

A very bright yellow glow surrounded Hematite, as Hematite's dark hair changed to long blond hair. Hematite's eyes also started glowing. Hematite then magically floated in the air.

"Impossible!" Bronwyn cried out in shock.

"Quite possible!" Hematite boldly responded. "Let Scarlett go!"

Bronwyn brought forth some powerful dark energy and shot it at Hematite. As the dark energy traveled, Hematite extended her hands and created a powerful magical blast that destroyed the dark energy coming at her. Bronwyn then ran from the cave, with Hematite floating after her. Bronwyn then shot some more powerful dark energy at Hematite. As with the previous attempt, Hematite extended her hands and created a powerful magical blast that destroyed the dark energy.

As Bronwyn and Hematite fought, everybody on the battlefield saw what was happening and stopped fighting to watch Bronwyn and Hematite. Bronwyn kept sending powerful dark energy at Hematite, while Hematite kept creating powerful magical blasts that destroyed Bronwyn's dark energy.

At one point, Bronwyn became angry at her inability to defeat Hematite. Bronwyn ran toward Hematite in an attempt to physically hit Hematite, as Hematite created an even more powerful blast that hit Bronwyn. As the blast hit Bronwyn, a strange cracking sensation went through Bronwyn's soul. What had in fact happened was that Hematite's latest blast had broken Bronwyn's immortality.

"Now it ends!" Hematite shouted as she once again extended her hands and created a powerful magical blast. The blast hit Bronwyn with a mighty blast, causing Bronwyn to fall over ... dead. At that same moment, the magical ropes of darkness around Scarlett disappeared, freeing Scarlett in the process. Scarlett then looked at Hematite who was still floating.

"Hematite?" Scarlett asked in concern.

Hematite continued to float for a few seconds. Hematite then gasped, and dropped to the ground, totally exhausted. The glow around Hematite faded, and Hematite's hair returned to its dark color. As the witches of the Witch Revolutionary Front stood there seeing Bronwyn defeated, they quickly grabbed their brooms and raced off.

"They're getting away!" Anna exclaimed.

"It's okay," Esteban reassured Anna. "We've won the day."

"Let them flee like the cowards they are," Victor added.

"Hematite!" Scarlett exclaimed in worry as she raced over to Hematite. "Hematite? Are you okay?"

"Tired, but okay," Hematite weakly responded. "I just need a little time to recover."

Elsewhere in Arendelle, the witches were speeding away on their brooms over open water when they spotted a large ship a short distance away.

"That's not, is it?!" a witch asked, worried.

"Yes, it is," another witch confirmed in a worried tone. "A broom carrier!"

As the broom carrier approached, the witches could clearly see the carrier's name on its hull - the HMS Gideon from Lacorinth. At that same moment, there was action on the Gideon's bridge.

"Orders, Queen Lydia?" the male Captain of the Gideon requested.

"Launch all brooms!" Lydia ordered. "Let's take care of this garbage!"

In a matter of moments, witches and warlocks from the Gideon mounted their attack brooms and launched from the deck. A few moments later, they engaged the witches from the Witch Revolutionary Front. A fierce air battle took place for a few minutes. However, the attack brooms from the Gideon made short work of the witches from the Witch Revolutionary Front. As the air battle ended, three surviving witches from the Witch Revolutionary Front quickly retreated. On the deck of the Gideon, Lydia, and Ixlan the Lightning Warrior watched the aftermath.

"Your people fought bravely," Ixlan complimented Lydia. "I am impressed."

"Thank you, Ixlan," Lydia smiled in appreciation.

"You are welcome," Ixlan responded. "Is that not the correct phrase? Ixlan still getting use to what you call social graces."

"You're doing fine," Lydia reassured Ixlan. "I'm glad Elena decided to send you to Lacorinth for a while. It is an honor to be in the presence of a legendary fighter such as yourself."

"And it is Ixlan's honor to be in the presence of a warrior queen like yourself," Ixlan praised.

In a while, the Gideon arrived in the harbor located next to the royal palace of Arendelle. On shore was Anna, Scarlett, Hematite, Victor, Esteban, and Scarlett's forces. A small boat brought Lydia and Ixlan ashore.

"Well, well, well," Scarlett smiled. "It's good to see you, Lydia. But how did you know what was going on?"

"Candice told me," Lydia revealed. "And I thought you could use some backup."

"You certainty made short work of those witches," Scarlett praised, before turning to Ixlan. "And it's good to see you again, Ixlan. What are you doing with Lydia?"

"Queen Elena of Avalor wanted me to learn social graces," Ixlan explained. "She didn't want me trained by some, how do you put it? Puff puff. So she sent me to Lacorinth to be trained by Queen Lydia, a warrior like myself."

"Well, you're in fine hands, Ixlan," Scarlett smiled. "Lydia has become the perfect mix of grace and warrior."

"Thank you, Scarlett," Lydia acknowledged, pleased.

"Know what we need?" Anna asked. "We need a celebration in honor of our victory today. I'll arrange for a grand party to be held at the palace this evening. Everybody is invited. And Lydia - that includes everybody on the Gideon. I'll post guards to see to your ship while the celebration is going on."

"That's most kind, Anna," Lydia accepted. "Thank you."

That night

In Arendelle, a grand party was being held, and a good time was being had by all. Meanwhile, far away in Enchancia, Candice was in her room in Enchancia Castle when a knock came at her door.

"Come in," Candice invited as she quickly hid something in her desk drawer.

The door opened, and in walked Amber who shut the door behind her.

"Am I interrupting?" Amber asked.

"No," Candice smiled as she opened the desk drawer, and pulled out what she had hidden - her electronic Voyager guidebook. "I'm just finishing up some Voyager business."

Candice carefully removed the back of the guidebook, reached inside, and carefully pulled out the special chip she had been given.

"I take it the time has come, then?" Amber wanted to know.

"Yes," Candice acknowledged. "The chip stopped working earlier this evening. Its last instruction was to remove it from my guidebook, and set it aside."

"Oh, well," Amber sighed. "It was nice getting more detailed information while it lasted."

"Agreed," Candice smiled. "But, all good things must come to an end. None of us are allowed to know too much about our personal futures. But ..."

"But what?" Amber inquired, curious, as Candice cautiously looked the room.

"I jotted down a lot of notes in a notebook," Candice whispered. "It could prove useful in the future."

"That's my Candice!" Amber smiled. "Always thinking one step in advance."

At that moment, the chip which was sitting on Candice's desk started smoking, then disappeared into thin air. At that same moment, the notebook which was sitting on Candice's desk suddenly started smoking and also disappeared into thin air.

"Oh, well!" Candice shrugged her shoulders in amusement. "Should have known better than to pull a fast one on Voyager Command. I see somebody's been watching This Island Earth."

"This Island Earth?" Amber asked, not knowing the reference.

"A science fiction movie from the 1950s," Candice explained. "Early in the movie, a scientist is instructed to build a strange communications device which winds up connecting the scientist to an alien. After the scientist talks to the alien through the communications device, the device and all instructions used to build the device self destructs in a puff of smoke."

"Nice to see Voyager Command has a sense of humor," Amber chuckled.

"Yes," Candice chuckled back.

Meanwhile, in a forest far away from Enchancia, one of the witches who had escaped from Arendelle landed her broom and entered an old house. The witch then went upstairs in the house and found a woman named Elenwen who was the leader of the Witch Revolutionary Front. The witch then explained to Elenwen what had happened in Arendelle.

"Our witches attacked and killed?!" Elenwen exclaimed in anger. "Bronwyn dead?!"

"I'm afraid so, my Mistress," the witch confirmed.

"There will be payment for this!" Elenwen spat. "If it's the last thing I do, there will be payment for this!"

(End of Chapter 57).

Behind the scenes

First of all, I want to let everybody know I'm still doing well during this coronavirus outbreak. I'm not sick, nor showing signs of being sick. I hope you and yours are doing well. I send you and yours all my best wishes.

Meanwhile, onto something else. One of my readers (6ekearl) was curious to know the magical levels from lowest to highest (since I had mentioned Level Vermillion in my previous stories).

Level Azure: this is the lowest magical level, and is associated with students who are starting magical school. Students normally retain this level until they are halfway through school when they then earn Level Sage status.

Level Sage: this is an intermediate magical level, and is associated with magical school students who are halfway through their schooling (or, in a normal school setting, their high school years).

Level Garnet: this is the magical level achieved by magical school students upon graduating from magical school. A Level Garnet status means that a magical school graduate is ready to use his or her magical abilities on a professional basis.

Level Vermillion: this is a very advanced magical skill level achieved after many years of using magic on a professional basis. It is a very great honor to be awarded Level Vermillion status and shows that one has learned advanced magic that is far beyond Level Garnet.

Since we are talking about magical skill levels, it is only fair that we discuss the levels of experience associated with witches. While these levels are connected with the levels above, the levels of experience associated with witches are more ceremonial in nature and indicate experience connected with growing up.

Witchlet: this is the title given to a young witch who is just starting to learn magic. A young witch retains this title until the witch enters puberty, at which time the witch is eligible to become a Midnight Witch.

Midnight Witch: this is the title given to an older girl witch when she enters puberty. The title of Midnight Witch must be earned through a special ceremony where the older girl witch proves she can successfully create a raven catcher broom on the night of a full moon. If the older girl witch achieves this, she is awarded the title of Midnight Witch and is now considered a grown-up.

Twilight Witch: a Twilight Witch is an honorary title given to magical individuals who are not born a witch, but who are very close friends with the witch community. Sandra was given this title in Chapter 12 of Jolly Roger Brat's story "The Hexley Hall Game Day Challenge" because she's not magical right now but is learning magic.

Feijoada: black bean stew.

For more about Carla (now Rita) and Victor's relationship in "Once Upon a Time in Enchancia", see Chapter 3 of "Once Upon a Time in Enchancia". The idea of bringing them back together in "Once Upon a Time in Enchancia" was based on a suggestion by 6ekearl. Understand that in "Once Upon a Time in Enchancia", their relationship is different than it appears in "Elena of Avalor".

"Gayle, Timothy, welcome back," Vega smiled, before turning to Timothy. "I hear Dorrie and Candice are teaching you to shield your mind from psychic intrusion" - teaching Timothy to shield his mind from psychic intrusion was an idea by Jolly Roger Brat. "Harry Potter" fans will remember that this kind of teaching is called Occlumency. Dorrie and Candice would know how to do this because of their involvement with Enchancian Intelligence.

Hematite, Timothy O'Toole, and Yuki Moto are characters created by MisuteriTenshi / SailorWednesdayMercury and are used in this story with the permission of MisuteriTenshi / SailorWednesdayMercury.

Immobulus is from "Harry Potter". Unimmobulus is a reversal spell I came up with.

"Let's get started then," Rita smiled back. "Just don't over pepper" - this is a reference to events referred to in the "Elena of Avalor" episode "The Lightning Warrior".

Lydia is from GradGirl2010's stories "My Sister's Keeper", "My Sister's Teacher", and "My Sister's Acceptance", and is used in my stories with the permission of GradGirl2010. Readers of my stories will remember that Lydia (in my stories) is Queen of the Kingdom of Lacorinth (being married to King Graham of Lacorinth), and is also the royal sorceress of Lacorinth.

Miss Gayle Lovegood (A.K.A. Headmistress Lovegood) is originally from my stories "Dorrie" and "Dorrie: Book Two", and is an ancestor of Luna Lovegood from "Harry Potter".

Moqueca: fish stew.

Princess Faith (Queen Scarlett's adopted daughter) is an earlier version of Faith seen in the "Torchwood" episodes "Dead Man Walking" and "Fragments".

Readers of "Once Upon a Time in Enchancia" will remember that Megan started residing at the castle as of Chapter 44.

Sandra is a character created by Jolly Roger Brat and is referenced in this chapter with the permission of Jolly Roger Brat.

"That's an impressive backpack you have," Jade said to Lovegood. "Thanks," Lovegood acknowledged. "It has a little bit of this, and a little bit of that. It's sort of my version of Princess Isabel's Go Pack" - this is a reference to events seen in the "Elena of Avalor" episode "Crystal in the Rough". Miss Lovegood would know Isabel because Isabel visited Hexley Hall in Jolly Roger Brat's story "The Hexley Hall Game Day Challenge".

The Book of Secrets mentioned in this chapter is an earlier version of the Book of Secrets from "Ghost Whisperer".

The HMS (His Majesty's Ship) Gideon was the idea of Brigade701.

Queen Scarlett Katherine Felchenerow) is a character created by Jake H Voronkov and is used in my stories with permission from Jake H Voronkov. Meanwhile, the character of Colette (A.K.A. Lady Colette Cosmarune) is a character that I and Jake H Voronkov created and is based on Bayonetta from the video game "Bayonetta" (please note that Colette, and Madam Collette of Enchancia Castle, are two different characters who are not related in any way, shape, or form).

The scene at Duel Academy where Jesse is tired was the idea of MisuteriTenshi / SailorWednesdayMercury (who also provided the dialog for that scene).

The scene at Duel Academy's Slifer Red dorm with Jesse attacking things in his sleep was the idea of MisuteriTenshi / SailorWednesdayMercury (who also provided some of the dialog for that scene).
