However, fear not - our friends will return in "Ever Realm Chronicles" which will be a rewritten version of my story "Enchancia Castle". "Ever Realm Chronicles" will also feature new things as well.

Songs in this chapter: a slightly modified version of "Carry On" from "Sailor Moon", and a modified version of the opening song from "Oliver and Company".

Chapter 60: Observations

December 27, 1870

Seventeen-year-old Princess Dianna of Yensid was in her guest room in Enchancia Castle. Dianna and her family had spent the Wassailia holiday at Enchancia Castle. Dianna sat in an overstuffed chair as she brought out her diary. Sitting on Dianna's lap was her female rabbit named Cinnamon who was mostly brown but had a large white patch on her belly. Cinnamon had one brown ear and one white ear. Dianna had Cinnamon since Cinnamon was born, and came about as a result of Dianna and her mother breeding rabbits. Breeding rabbits was something that Dianna and her mother continued to do up to the present day.

There was a special bond between Dianna and Cinnamon. Not only were the two best buddies, but Cinnamon was also Dianna's helper animal at both Hexley Hall and Royal Prep. As Dianna sat in the overstuffed chair, she reached down and gently petted Cinnamon who enjoyed Dianna's gentle touch. Dianna then started writing in her diary.

Dear Diary:

My family and I had an absolutely wonderful holiday here at Enchancia Castle. King Roland and his family showed us a wonderful time. I was impressed with the wide variety of holiday food that was served. Among the holiday food were white chocolate and peanut butter which I absolutely enjoy.

Everybody had a wonderful time during the holiday, and all of us received a variety of wonderful presents. The center of attention this Wassailia was Sofia who had bravely saved all of us from a bomb at the pre-Wassailia party on December 23rd. This morning, Sofia received a special surprise when she was awarded the Enchancian Medal of Honor for her bravery. The Medal of Honor is usually reserved for those in the Enchancian military. But since Sofia is an honorary Captain in the Enchancian Eastern Border Guard, the Enchancia Council made a special exemption which allowed Sofia to be awarded the medal.

Candice has been busy ever since the bomb scare. She has some contacts which law enforcement doesn't have access to, and these contacts have been helping to track down those responsible. Candice took a much-needed break to celebrate Wassailia with the rest of us. Wassailia itself was a wonderful time, with singing and good cheer.

Getting back to December 23rd, I received a surprise from Elainna and Anniale Pearson. They took me aside later that night and revealed to me that they, like me, have high functioning autism. It makes me feel less alone knowing others in my circle are like me.

At that moment, Clover and Hexie hopped into Dianna's room.

"Hi, guys!" Dianna smiled. "I imagine you're here to see Cinnamon?"

Clover nodded his head yes as Dianna gently put Cinnamon on the floor.

"Go ahead," Dianna said to Cinnamon. "Have fun with your friends."

Cinnamon happily hopped off with Clover and Hexie as Dianna smiled.

December 28, 1870

Dianna, Cinnamon, and Dianna's family had returned to their home in the Kingdom of Yensid to celebrate New Years'. In the Enchancia Castle kitchen, Candice was helping to prepare lunch for the royal family when Colonel Martinsen walked in.

"Colonel Martinsen," Chef Andre greeted. "What may I do for you?"

"I need to borrow Candice for a little while," Martinsen requested. "Intelligence business."

"Of course," Andre complied as he turned to Candice. "Colonel Martinsen would like to see you."

Candice stopped what she was doing and walked out of the kitchen with Martinsen.

"What's going on, Colonel?" Candice asked Martinsen.

"One of your contacts is here," Martinsen answered. "He says he has important news for you. If you'll follow me, I'll take you to him."

December 30, 1870

It was a Friday afternoon at Enchancia Castle. Inside the castle, in King Roland's study, an important meeting was taking place.

"Thanks to Candice's contact, we now know where the Witch Revolutionary Front is hiding out - the jungles of Weiling," Roland announced to those gathered. "Weiling Intelligence has confirmed that fact and Emperor Kwan has given his blessing for an attack."

"Emperor Kwan has troops standing by to help us," Colonel Martinsen reported.

"Queen Scarlett and her forces are standing by," Dorrie revealed.

"And our forces are standing by," Roland revealed. "We'll attack on January 2nd."

"King Roland," Candice started. "I have some people who would like to be involved. They can be trusted to keep things secret until we strike, and are expert fighters."

"Then by all means invite them," Roland agreed.

January 2, 1871

It was a new year in Enchancia. At Enchancia Castle, Princess Dianna of Yensid had arrived at the request of Violet. Dianna had been a midwife-in-training for a few years, just as Dorrie and Candice had been.

"Thank you for coming, Dianna," Violet said, pleased. "I have some home visits to expectant mothers to make this afternoon, and I could use your help."

"Of course, Violet," Dianna smiled. "Will Dorrie and Candice be coming with us?"

"I'm afraid they have other duties," Violet revealed. "The news of what they are doing will be breaking sometime this morning."

"This involves the Witch Revolutionary Front, doesn't it?" Dianna asked.

"Yes," Violet answered. "We're striking back for what happened at the pre-Wassailia party. Please keep it under your hat until the news breaks."

"I will, Violet," Dianna promised.

Meanwhile, in the jungles of Weiling, the forces about to attack the Witch Revolutionary Front were laying in wait.

"Dorrie, Candice, Abby," Sofia whispered. "Check on what the Witch Revolutionary Front is currently doing, then report back."

Dorrie, Candice, and Abby nodded their heads in understanding as they quietly walked away to check what the Witch Revolutionary Front was doing. In a few minutes, the three returned.

"They're just walking around doing everyday things," Abby reported in a whisper. "They have no idea we're here."

"Good," Sofia whispered, pleased. "Exactly what we wanted."

"Go time?" Lucinda wanted to know in a whisper.

"Go time," Sofia confirmed in a whisper.

Sofia raised her arm, then brought it down which was the signal for everybody to attack. Everybody raced forward, firing wands and rifles. The Witch Revolutionary Front was completely taken off guard.

"Intruders!" a witch shouted in alarm.

"Attack them!" Elenwen, leader of the Witch Revolutionary Front, ordered as she saw Sofia's forces advancing.

In a few moments, both sides were locked in a pitched battle. At one point, Abby looked off to her side to see the Pearsons battling with a group of witches from the Witch Revolutionary Front. As Abby watched the Pearsons making quick work of the group they were fighting, an evil witch snuck up behind Abby and grabbed her shoulders. Abby responded by elbowing the witch in the stomach, causing the witch to double over in pain. Another evil witch came out of nowhere and lunged at Abby. The witch threw Abby to the ground, then stood over Abby with a wand drawn.

"Now you die!" the witch boasted.

Abby's Amulet of Asbron suddenly made itself visible and started glowing. In a few seconds, a white-skinned woman with shoulder-length brown hair who was wearing an animal skin tunic appeared out of thin air behind the witch. The woman blew a poisoned thorn through a blowpipe at the witch. The thorn lodged in the witch's neck, killing the witch instantly. The woman then helped Abby to her feet.

"Thank you ..." Abby started, grateful.

"I'm Leela of the Sevateem," the woman answered. "Are you all right?"

"I'm fine, thank you," Abby responded.

"Good," Leela smiled, before turning serious. "I was with The Doctor a few moments ago. Where is he?"

Suddenly, Leela disappeared into thin air as quickly as she had appeared. At that same moment, Abby's amulet stopped glowing and became invisible again. As Abby looked around her, she noticed Hansel and Gretel, brother and sister evil witch hunters, mowing down a group of evil witches with their home build machine guns.

There was intense fighting all over the place, but it was quickly becoming apparent that Sofia's forces far outnumbered those fighting for the Witch Revolutionary Front. In a short while, the battle ended with several evil witches having been killed, and the remaining evil witches having been captured.

"Where's your leader?!" Sofia demanded to know.

"Right here!" a woman's voice loudly called out.

Sofia and the others turned to see Elenwen standing in front of them. Elenwen then magically raised herself off of the ground and outstretched her arms. As she outstretched her arms, she sent a powerful wave of magical energy toward Sofia's forces, causing Sofia's forces to fall down.

"That's one powerful witch," Queen Scarlett remarked to Eda.

"A powerful witch, maybe," Eda said to Scarlett. "But, the bigger they are, the harder they fall."

Eda walked over to where Elenwen was floating.

"Who might you be?" Elenwen asked in a mocking tone of voice.

"They call me Eda the Owl Lady," Eda introduced herself.

"Then prepare to die, Eda the Owl Lady," Elenwen boasted.

"I don't think so," Eda countered, confident, as she produced her staff. "I've encountered little tin dictators like you before. You all have one thing in common - your overconfidence leads to your downfall."

"We'll see about that!" Elenwen exclaimed in anger as she shot a powerful beam of energy at Eda. At that same moment, Eda raised her staff and defended herself against Elenwen's power.

"Owl staff power!" Eda shouted as she started singing. "Here I'm standing in this place. My owl staff my only light. Alone against my darkest fear. But I sense my friends are near. I'll draw from each the power I need. This evil hag we will defeat."

(Eda) "Give me the strength to carry on. With all our might we can't go wrong. Only together we face the fight. Nothing can stand against our might."

"You know deep down inside what to do," Scarlett said to Sofia, Lucinda, Dorrie, Candice, and Abby. The five then produced their amulets.

"Amulet of Avalor power!" Sofia shouted.

"Amulet of Tlara power!" Lucinda shouted.

"Amulet of Cosmarune power!" Dorrie shouted.

"Amulet of Valorage power!" Candice shouted.

"Amulet of Asbron power!" Abby shouted.

Scarlett then stepped forward and produced her amulet.

"Amulet of Daveroth power!" Scarlett shouted. "Unite!"

A beam of magical energy from each amulet shot into Eda's owl staff. The owl staff then shot a ball of magical energy at Elenwen. The ball of magical energy then started to envelop Elenwen.

(All) "Give me the strength to carry on. With our might we can't go wrong. Only together we face the fight. Nothing can stand against our might."

In a few moments, the ball of magical energy had completely enveloped Elenwen, erasing her from existence.

(All) "With all our strength the battle's won. With all our might we can't go wrong. We have the strength to carry on."

"Thank you, everyone," Eda smiled at Sofia, Lucinda, Dorrie, Candice, Abby, and Scarlett. Eda then turned serious. "If your amulets could do that, then why did you need me?"

"We were the energy source," Scarlett explained. "But you were the weapon - your extensive magical powers, and your owl staff. Without that, our energy wouldn't have had much effect."

"Well, well, well," Eda said in awe. "Guess this gal has a lot of life, huh?"

Sofia, Lucinda, Dorrie, Candice, Abby, and Scarlett all smiled at Eda's description of herself.

"What do we do with the Witch Revolutionary Front survivors?" Sofia asked Scarlett.

"Move them out," Scarlett directed. "They have a date with Azkaban."

As Sofia, Lucinda, and Abby walked off, Dorrie and Candice stayed behind.

"Scarlett," Dorrie began. "You seemed to have advanced knowledge of Elenwen's abilities."

"You certainly knew before any of us did," Candice added.

"Well, a little bird told me," Scarlett revealed with a smile.

"A little bird?" Dorrie wanted to know.

"Well, more like a woman who travels around in a blue box," Scarlett answered. "The Doctor you call Ruth. She's taken a shine to the two of you."

Dorrie and Candice smiled at the compliment.

"I guess this is the end of the Witch Revolutionary Front," Eda theorized.

"In its present form, yes," Scarlett started. "But it will return someday, just with new faces. We've probably bought ourselves a few years at best."

A little later in Dunwiddie

Violet and Dianna had finished morning rounds and had decided to have lunch in the Starwells restaurant. As they were eating, a young boy raced into the restaurant.

"Hey, everybody!" the boy announced. "Big news! The Witch Revolutionary Front has been defeated!"

Mrs. Starwell brought out her crystal ball and tuned it into the Crystal Ball News Network. As luck would have it, the news network was providing the latest news on what had happened. As everybody gathered around to watch, a female news reporter read off the news.

"For those just joining us, the Witch Revolutionary Front has been defeated by forces led by Enchancia's Princess Sofia," the woman reported. "The Witch Revolutionary Front was hiding out in the jungles of Weiling when they were attacked by Princess Sofia's forces. The attack, sanctioned by Emperor Kwan of Weiling, has resulted in the death of several witches belonging to the Witch Revolutionary Front. Their leader, Elenwen, is among those killed. There have been some minor injuries among Princess Sofia's forces, but no deaths."

"Thank God none of our people were killed," Violet said, relieved.

"Hey," a man in the restaurant said to Violet. "Where are Dorrie and Candice?"

"In Weiling with Princess Sofia's forces," Violet reported.

"You knew about this beforehand?" a woman in the restaurant asked Violet.

"Yes," Violet responded. "I was sworn to secrecy."

"And did you know about this beforehand, Princess Dianna?" another man asked.

"Violet told me before we left the castle this morning," Dianna acknowledged. "I promised not to say anything until the news had broken."

At that moment, Miss Elodie walked up. "I imagine you must be quite proud of Dorrie and Candice, Violet."

"I am," Violet smiled. "They do a mother proud. And, I'll tell you who else makes me proud - Dianna here. She has the makings of a fine midwife once her training is complete."

Dianna beamed with pride as everybody smiled at the touching scene.

January 3, 1871

It was a Tuesday morning in Cinnibar. Inside Scarlett's palace, Scarlett was meeting with Eda and King.

"Well, as much as I've enjoyed Cinnibar, it's time King and I were returning to the Boiling Isles," Eda commented.

"You going to be okay?" Scarlett asked Eda, concerned. "Emperor Belos and your sister can be tricky customers."

"They would have to wake up pretty early in the morning to get the jump on me," Eda winked in confidence.

"Indeed," Scarlett agreed as she pulled out her wand and created a portal, as Princess Faith walked over with King.

"It was nice meeting you, Faith," King smiled. "You're okay in my book."

"And you're okay in mine," Faith smiled back as the two hugged.

"Come on, King," Eda urged. "Time to get back to the Boiling Isles and dodge Emperor Belos and my sister."

"I'm giving you something that may give you a leg up, at least temporarily," Scarlett revealed to Eda. "You'll emerge on the Boiling Isles a few years after you and King left. With Belos and your sister thinking you haven't returned, it might give you a chance to lay low for a while."

"Much appreciated, Scarlett," Eda acknowledged, touched. "Until we meet again."

"Until we meet again," Scarlett smiled.

"Maybe someday we can get my crown back," King thought out loud.

"Well, anything is possible," Eda commented as she and King stepped through the portal and disappeared. In a few moments, Eda and King emerged on the Boiling Isles.

"Well, we're back home," King noted.

"I see Belos still has wanted posters up for me," Eda said as she spotted one of the posters. "At least that hasn't changed."

"We might want to lay low as Scarlett suggested," King pointed out.

"Quite right," Eda agreed. "What Belos and my sister don't know won't hurt them ... or us."

A few days later, Eda and King had settled back into the Owl House, and Eda had started up her Human Collectibles business once again. As Eda was going through a sack of things that her owl staff had brought back from the Human Realm, Eda quickly had a surprise.

"Garbage, garbage ..." Eda said to herself. "Garbage. Now, this (taking out a pair of bobbly eyeglasses), this will make me rich."

Eda then brought out a fantasy novel. "And this ... oh, this will make good kindling."

At that moment, a fourteen-year-old girl ran out from behind Eda and grabbed the book. "Excuse me, sorry, it's mine, thank you," the girl announced as she tried to run back to where she had come from. But, the exit the girl was looking for had mysteriously disappeared without a trace.

"You're not going anywhere," Eda proclaimed.

The girl ran from Eda and quickly found herself in a strange new world she was totally unprepared for. "Oh, no, no, no, no!" the girl cried out. "What's going on?"

A small female faerie then flew up to the girl.

"Are you going to tell me this is all a fantastical dream?" the girl asked the fairy, hopeful.

"Give me your skin!" the small faerie demanded as the girl ran away in fright.

"Where am I? Did I die? Am I in the bad place?" the girl asked herself, very nervous.

"You wish," Eda said as she put her hand on the girl's shoulder.

"I'm so sorry!" the girl apologized, fearful. "I just wanted my book! If you're gonna eat my skin, just make it quick! Just do it now!"

"Eat you? Why would I eat ... a potential customer?" Eda asked with a chuckle. "Can I offer you a human foot filled with holes? A bar of green human candy? Oh, oh! How about this black shadow box that reflects only sadness?"

The girl recognized the shadow box as a small portable television set. "That's not all it can do. Here, let me see it."

The girl then slapped some batteries Eda had into the television set, and turned it on, revealing the moving image of a dance instructor dancing to music as a group of monsters walked up.

"Huh?" one of the monsters asked, looking at the television set.

"What's that?" another monster asked.

"The sound ... it's so alluring," a third monster remarked.

"I'll pay 40 snails for the screaming box!" the first monster announced.

"I'll give you a hundred!" the second monster proclaimed.

"Can I eat the tiny person inside?" the third monster wanted to know.

"What did you say your name was?" Eda asked the girl.

"I'm Luz. Luz Noceda," the girl answered.

"Well, Luz, that was pretty clever ... for a human!" Eda declared.

"That's kind of a weird thing for another human to say," Luz remarked, taken off guard.

"Oh, dear child, I'm not like you," Eda revealed as she showed Luz her pointed ears. "I'm Eda the Owl Lady, the most powerful witch on the Boiling Isles!"

That introduction would be the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

March 16, 1871

It was a Thursday afternoon at Enchancia Castle, and school had gotten out for the day. In Violet's office, Violet was working on some paperwork when a knock came at her door.

"Come in," Violet invited.

The door opened, and in walked Candice.

"Mom?" Candice asked. "May I have a moment of your time?"

"Of course, sweetheart," Violet smiled. "What may I do for you?"

"Everett has asked me about something this fall, and I wanted to run it by you," Candice started. "Everett and his uncle will be returning to the ancient Elvin community of Rivendell for another archaeological dig, and I've been invited. I'll be out of school by that time, and I'd like to go along ... with your permission, of course."

"Well, I for one think it is an excellent use of your time," Violet responded. "But, I'll have to run it past Mister Baileywick first to see if you can be spared from castle duties."

"Excuse me," a male voice came from the open door. Violet and Candice looked to see Baileywick standing there.

"Mister Baileywick," Violet acknowledged.

"I was walking by and heard your conversation," Baileywick started. "I think this is a wonderful opportunity for Candice, and I think she should go. Candice is an excellent worker here at the castle and is certainly entitled to some time off. You have my blessing."

"Oh, thank you, Mister Baileywick," Candice said with joy.

"You're very welcome, Candice," Baileywick smiled as he walked out of Violet's office.

"That's taken care of, then," Violet happily said. "I know you're going to have a wonderful time."

June 24, 1871

It was evening in the Kingdom of Yensid. Eighteen-year-old Princess Dianna of Yensid was in her room in Yensid Castle relaxing in an overstuffed chair. As she relaxed, Dianna wrote in her diary.

Dear Diary:

It's hard to believe that my school years are behind me. Today was graduation day at both Royal Prep and Hexley Hall. Royal's Prep's graduation was this morning, and Hexley Hall's graduation was this afternoon.

Royal Prep's graduation was a grand affair. I thank Candice for walking with me during the graduation since large crowds make me nervous. As we walked to our seats, I looked ahead to see our graduating class, walking in twos: Prince Frederick and Prince Everett; Sofia and Lucinda; Amber and James; Dorrie and Jade; Abby and Prince Mike; Mira and Prince Neel; Princess Isabel and Princess Oona; Princess Mae and Princess Faith; Princess Sandra and Princess Maya; Princess Aileen and Princess Natasha; Princess Deidre and one of her friends; and Candice and I. Some had originally graduated as children but had come back for more advanced schooling.

Hexley Hall's graduation was also a grand affair. Again, I thank Candice for walking with me as she had during Royal Prep's graduation. As we walked to the front of Hexley Hall's great hall, I looked ahead to see our graduating class, walking in twos: Sofia and Lucinda; Elainna and Anniale; Dorrie and Abby; Jade and Ruby; Princess Aileen and Princess Faith; Indigo and Lily; Adair and Valentina; Gracie Bryant and Matilda Honey; Prince Desmond and Wendell Fidget; and Candice and I. When we reached the front of the great hall, we were each presented with our Level Garnet certificate which officially recognized each of us as ready to use our magical abilities on a professional basis.

After the graduations at Royal Prep and Hexley Hall, King Roland was kind enough to host a party for the graduating classes at Enchancia Castle. It was a wonderful party and a wonderful way to end our school years.

As Dianna sat in her overstuffed chair, she put down her diary as Cinnamon hopped into Dianna's room. Dianna gently picked up Cinnamon and put Cinnamon in her lap. Dianna then started gently petting Cinnamon. It was a nice way to end an evening.

In Enchancia, at the Satu embassy in Dunwiddie, Jade sat in her room looking out the window. As she sat, Jade pulled from her pocket her time turner which had been a gift from Headmistress Lovegood. While Jade had graduated from Royal Prep and Hexley Hall, she had opted for additional education at Duel Academy. Being a student there would help her further master her deck of Duel Monster cards. Her time turner would allow her to be in two places at once as it were so she could attend classes that were at the same time.

Unknown to Jade, she wouldn't be the only one to receive additional education. While Jade would go to Duel Academy, three of her friends would soon be getting their own additional education in a different field.

July 22, 1871

It was a Saturday afternoon at Enchancia Castle. Candice was sitting in her room after taking care of morning duties at the castle. She had the rest of the day off, and decided to relax in her room. As she relaxed, Candice brought out her diary and started writing in it.

Diary entry: July 22, 1871:

Dorrie, Abby, and I got back yesterday after three weeks of finishing training so we could become adult members of the Witch Service Guild. The three of us were blessed to have as an instructor the famous Nanny McPhee. She was as kind and intelligent as we had heard. She even gave Abby a magical staff of her own (Nanny McPhee mentioned in passing that she had been keeping a spare staff in storage for many years, waiting for the right person to give it to. And Abby was that person).

During the three weeks we were with Nanny McPhee, she let us in on many of her secrets that have made her the success she is. She also showed us how to use magical staffs and scepters in new and unexpected ways.

At that moment, Candice's cat, Creamy, walked into Candice's room. Candice put down her diary and let Creamy jump into Candice's lap. Candice then gently started scratching Creamy behind one of his ears, with Creamy enjoying it very much.

August 13, 1871

It was a Sunday afternoon at Enchancia Castle. In the servants area of the castle, Candice had just given Creamy a bowl of cut up chicken. It had been a harrowing few days for Creamy and other local cats. The creature named Sheynok had captured the local cats to eat them. Candice, along with Dorrie, Sofia, Lucinda, their friends, and The Doctor had managed to stop Sheynok's plans and rescue most of the local cats.

Candice smiled as she watched Creamy eat. Creamy was back home safe and sound.

"Hello," a woman's voice came from the doorway.

Candice looked to see a blond-haired white-skinned woman standing there. The woman was the current version of The Doctor who had helped to stop Sheynok.

"Doctor," Candice acknowledged.

"Just wanted to say goodbye," The Doctor smiled. "Graham, Ryan, Yasmin, and I are ready to leave. But, I wanted to give you something first."

The Doctor then handed Candice a cell phone. "My way of keeping in touch," The Doctor explained.

"Thanks, but I already have one," Candice revealed as she pulled out an interesting cell phone from her pocket. Instead of buttons, Candice's cell phone had a rotary dial on it.

"Hey!" The Doctor exclaimed, impressed. "I say, that's interesting."

"It comes from an alternate timeline," Candice started. "When I'm here at Enchancia Castle, it works through the First Story Keeper's Tardis. Here, I'll write down my number for you."

"Thanks," The Doctor smiled as she took a piece of paper from Candice. The Doctor then noticed there were two phone numbers written on the paper.

"The other number is for Dorrie's cell phone," Candice explained. "She has the same kind of cell phone I have. We just love this retro look."

"I can see why," The Doctor agreed. "Well, best be off. Places to see, things to do."

"Thank you for your help," Candice said in appreciation as she hugged The Doctor.

"Anytime, Candice," The Doctor smiled as she returned the hug. "See you out there sometime."

"Count on it," Candice smiled back as The Doctor left.

As soon as The Doctor had left the servants area, a curly-haired white-skinned woman entered through another doorway. The woman was Professor River Song.

"So, that was the latest Doctor," River observed.

"Nice to see you, River," Candice greeted. "I know your Vortex Manipulator allows you to travel through time, but I didn't know you could cross dimensions with it?"

"Well, anything is possible with a little reprogramming," River winked, referring to the device she wore on her wrist. "But, getting back to The Doctor, she has no idea about her past, does she?"

"Not a bit," Candice confirmed. "No idea she has previous regenerations beyond the ones she knows. No idea that she's in fact the Timeless Child. She'll find out eventually."

"I must say, you're remarkably well informed," River said, impressed.

"Well, let's just say Dorrie and I have our sources and leave it at that," Candice revealed with a smile.

"Spoilers," River chuckled.

Candice and River sat down at a table, had some tea, and had a pleasant conversation as Creamy continued eating. It was a wonderful way to spend an afternoon.

October 18, 1871

Summer had gone, and now it was fall. It was a Wednesday afternoon at Enchancia Castle, and eighteen-year-old Lucinda was sitting in her bedroom relaxing. As she sat, Lucinda thought back to events from a year earlier.

Flashback:

It was a late Friday afternoon at Enchancia Castle. It was now pretty much quiet in the castle. King Roland, Sofia, Amber, and James had all gone off to various places for the weekend. Even Baileywick had gone off to spend the weekend with his brother, Nigel. With the exception of some of the castle help, the only person inside the castle besides Lucinda was Queen Miranda.

Seventeen-year-old Lucinda walked into her room and discovered the door to her large walk-in closet was open. As Lucinda walked into the closet, she noticed that Queen Miranda was putting something away.

"Mom?" Lucinda asked.

"Oh!" Miranda started. "There you are."

"Anything I can help you with?" Lucinda asked.

"I was just putting something away for you," Miranda revealed. "Then I discovered this."

Miranda then pulled out Lucinda's Saint Trinian's school uniform that Lucinda had received as a gift when Lucinda had helped out the school a month earlier.

"Now I'm in for it," Lucinda thought. "I'm gonna get yelled at for having such a school uniform ... and then there's gonna be all kinds of questions."

"This brings back memories," Miranda smiled as she looked at the Saint Trinian's school uniform.

"What?!" Lucinda asked in shock.

"Oh really, Lucinda. You think I was always squeaky clean?" Miranda responded. "Truth is, as a teenager, I was a bit of a problem child. Before I knew it, I wound up at Saint Trinian's. After a while I even worked my up to Head Student."

Lucinda was left totally speechless by Miranda's admission.

"So?" Miranda asked. "How did you get involved with Saint Trinian's?"

"About a month ago, they hired me for the weekend," Lucinda started. "Cheltenham Ladies' College had managed to steal the deed to Saint Trinian's, and Saint Trinian's needed somebody to steal it back. And they thought a witch would be their best bet. Well, to make a long story short, I managed to steal back the deed and return it to Saint Trinian's".

"You must have really impressed them, Lucinda," Miranda proudly responded. "They wouldn't have given you a school uniform otherwise."

Lucinda smiled at Miranda's compliment.

"So, you have any plans for the weekend?" Miranda wanted to know.

"Actually," Lucinda started, "I was planning to visit Saint Trinian's for the night. I've been invited to the annual autumn bash."

"It's that time already?" Miranda asked in fond remembrance. "That was always a fun event."

"I've better get ready then," Lucinda announced.

"Lucinda?" Miranda asked.

"What, Mom?" Lucinda answered.

"Oh, nothing ..." Miranda replied.

"What is it, Mom?" Lucinda wanted to know.

"Well, if it wouldn't be too much to ask, could I come along?" Miranda requested.

"I'd be honored, Mom," Lucinda happily answered.

"Then it's settled," Miranda smiled. "I'll arrange for a coach to take us there."

"Sounds good," Lucinda smiled.

End of flashback, and back to the present.

Lucinda thought back to that autumn bash. It had been a fun and interesting event. Even Sofia and Amber had shown up, having been brought there by none other than ... Hildegard and Cleo.

As Lucinda sat, her rabbit Hexie was sitting on Lucinda's lap. Laying on the floor next to Lucinda and Hexie was Rex the German Sheppard.

"We've come a long way, the three of us," Lucinda smiled at Hexie and Rex.

As the three relaxed, a song played in the background.

"Now it's always once upon a time here in Enchancia. It's a big old, great old, magical place, it's true. But beginnings are contagious here. They're always setting stages here. They're always turning pages here for you."

"Ain't it great the way it all begins here in Enchancia? Right away you're making time and making friends. No one cares where you were yesterday. If they pick you out you're on your way. To a once upon a time that never ends."

"So, friend, don't be shy. Get out there, let go and try. Believing that you're the one, they're dying to see. 'Cause a dream's no crime. Not once upon a time. Once upon a time here in Enchancia."

"If it's always once upon a time here in Enchancia. Why does nightfall find you feeling so alone? How could anyone stay starry eyed. When it's raining cats and dogs outside. And the rain is saying, "Now you're on your own"?"

"So, friend, don't be scared. Though yesterday no one cared. They're getting your place prepared. Where you want to be. Keep your dream alive. Dreaming is still how the strong survive. Once upon a time here in Enchancia."

"Keep your dream alive. Dreaming is still how the strong survive. Once upon a time here in Enchancia. Keep your dream alive. Dreaming is still how the strong survive. Once upon a time here in Enchancia. And it's always once upon a time here in Enchancia."

(End of Chapter 60, and the end of "Once Upon a Time in Enchancia". Look for the adventures of Sofia, Lucinda, Dorrie, Candice, and company to continue in my next story, "Ever Realm Chronicles").

Behind the scenes

I continue to do well during this time of COVID-19, and I hope you and yours are doing well. I wish all of you a happy and safe holiday season.

In this edition of "Behind the scenes", I thought I'd give you a sneak peek of "Ever Realm Chronicles". Here is a scene from Chapter 1.

In the castle flying carriage launching and landing area, a flying carriage, its horses, and driver stood ready. At that same moment, Violet and Dorrie walked up with Candice.

"Don't you worry about a thing here," Violet reassured Candice. "You just go off and have a good time with Everett."

"I'm going to miss you and Dorrie," Candice smiled as she hugged Violet.

"And we're going to miss you," Dorrie said on behalf of herself and Violet.

"I'll be back before you know it," Candice said in a reassuring voice.

"You've best be going," Violet said to Candice. "Safe journey."

Candice climbed aboard the flying carriage and sat down. In a few moments, the carriage took flight as Candice waved from the carriage. Violet and Dorrie waved back as the carriage flew away from Enchancia Castle. Soon, the carriage was out of sight.

"We've best be getting back to work," Violet said as she put her arm around Dorrie. "This castle doesn't take care of itself."

"Lucky for us the castle has a top-notch head maid to keep things in order," Dorrie smiled, describing Violet.

"Flatterer," Violet chuckled.

"It was meant with true admiration," Dorrie smiled. "Candice and I are lucky to have you as a mother."

"And I'm lucky to have the two of you as daughters," Violet smiled back.

Violet and Dorrie walked into the castle, having a pleasant conversation before they got back to work.

Author's notes

All mentions of Saint Trinian's are based on the 2007 film of the same name which has been adapted for the "Sofia the First" universe in my stories.

Anniale Pearson, Elainna Pearson, and the Pearson family are characters created by epear96 and are used in this story with the permission of epear96. Anniale and Elainna having high functioning autism was the idea of epear96.

Azkaban, and time turner, are from "Harry Potter".

Creamy is a character created for Candice by Jolly Roger Brat. Creamy is used in this story with the permission of Jolly Roger Brat. Readers of "Once Upon a Time in Enchancia" will remember that King Roland is no longer allergic to Creamy, and Creamy is now allowed in the castle.

Duel Academy and Duel Monster cards are from "Yu-Gi-Oh! GX". For more on how Jade received her Duel Monster cards, see Chapter 56 of "Once Upon a Time in Enchancia".

Eda, Eda's sister (Lilith), Emperor Belos, King (of Demons), Luz, and the Boiling Isles are all from "The Owl House".

Gayle Lovegood (A.K.A. Headmistress Lovegood of Hexley Hall) is originally from my stories "Dorrie" and "Dorrie: Book Two", and is an ancestor of Luna Lovegood from "Harry Potter".

Graham, Ryan, and Yasmin are from the Jodie Whittaker episodes of "Doctor Who".

Having Abby's amulet summon a heroine was an idea by Jolly Roger Brat. I then decided to use Leela as the heroine (Leela is from the Tom Baker episodes of "Doctor Who").

Having Dianna like white chocolate and peanut butter was suggested by dbug27.

Having Hansel and Gretel (from "Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters") taking part in the battle against the Witch Revolutionary Front was the idea of Brigade701.

Having Jade have a time turner is a reference to events in SailorWednesdayMercury's story "From Villager To Princess Book 5". The reference is used here with the permission of SailorWednesdayMercury.

Having the Pearson family take part in the battle against the Witch Revolutionary Front was the idea of epear96.

Having Sheynok mentioned in this chapter was the idea of Brigade701.

It seemed only fitting that since "Once Upon a Time in Enchancia" started with the modified song from "Oliver and Company", it should also end with the same song.

It was a Sunday afternoon at Enchancia Castle. In the servants area of the castle, Candice had just given Creamy a bowl of cut up chicken. It had been a harrowing few days for Creamy and other local cats. The creature named Sheynok had captured the local cats to eat them. Candice, along with Dorrie, Sofia, Lucinda, their friends, and The Doctor had managed to stop Sheynok's plans and rescue most of the local cats - this is a reference to events seen in my story "Sheynok: a Once Upon a Time in Enchancia story".

Level Garnet is mentioned along with other magical levels at the end of Chapter 57 of "Once Upon a Time in Enchancia".

Lucinda thought back to that autumn bash. It had been a fun and interesting event. Even Sofia and Amber had shown up, having been brought there by none other than ... Hildegard and Cleo - this is a reference to events seen in my story "A Night at Saint Trinian's".

Matilda Honey is based on Matilda from the "Matilda" children's book and movie but adapted for the "Sofia the First" universe. The version of Matilda in my stories has retained her powers and currently has graduated from Hexley Hall. Matilda's adopted mother is Jennifer Honey, who teaches at the local school in Dunwiddie.

"Maybe someday we can get my crown back," King thought out loud - this is a reference to an event seen in the first episode of "The Owl House" ("A Lying Witch and a Warden").

Mira and Prince Neel and older versions of the same characters from "Mira, Royal Detective".

Nanny McPhee is an earlier version of the same character from "Nanny McPhee" and "Nanny McPhee Returns".

"Not a bit," Candice confirmed. "No idea she has previous regenerations beyond the ones she knows. No idea that she's in fact the Timeless Child. She'll find out eventually" - this is a reference to events seen in "Doctor Who" episodes aired during 2020.

Princess Dianna of Yensid, and Cinnamon, are characters created by dbug27 and are used in this story with permission from dbug27. Princess Dianna of Yensid and Cinnamon are from dbug27's story "a special princess". Having Dianna being a midwife-in-training is also from dbug27's story "a special princess".

Princess Faith (Queen Scarlett's adopted daughter) is an earlier version of Faith seen in the "Torchwood" episodes "Dead Man Walking" and "Fragments".

Princess Isabel is originally from "Elena of Avalor".

Princess Natasha is based on Princess Natasha from the original "Princess Natasha" TV series but adapted for the "Sofia the First" universe. Having Natasha being brought into "Once Upon a Time in Enchancia" was the idea of Luiz4200.

Princess Sandra is a character created by Jolly Roger Brat. Princess Sandra is used in my stories with the permission of Jolly Roger Brat.

Professor River Song is from the David Tennant, Matt Smith, and Peter Capaldi episodes of "Doctor Who". I've been alluding in past chapters of "Once Upon a Time in Enchancia" that Dorrie and Candice know River. I thought it was time for River to make an actual appearance in this chapter.

Sheynok is the result of discussions between myself and Brigade701. Brigade 701 wanted to see a villain with bizarre eating habits. In response, I created Sheynok (who I created as a "Doctor Who"-type villain).

Spoilers: Professor River Song's favorite saying during her time on "Doctor Who". It meant that she knew about The Doctor's future, but wasn't going to reveal anything about that knowledge.

The ancient Elvin community of Rivendell is from "The Lord of the Rings".

The flashback scene with Lucinda and Miranda is from my story "A Night at Saint Trinian's".

The Kingdom of Cinnibar is a kingdom created by Jake H Voronkov and is used in my stories with permission from Jake H Voronkov.

The Kingdom of Yensid is a kingdom created by dbug27 and is used in this story with permission from dbug27.

The blond-haired white-skinned female Doctor is actually the Jodie Whittaker Doctor from "Doctor Who".

The Ruth Doctor is from the Jodie Whittaker episodes of "Doctor Who".

The Scarlett Warrior (A.K.A. Scarlett) (A.K.A. Queen Scarlett) (A.K.A. Queen Scarlett Katherine Felchenerow) is a character created by Jake H Voronkov and is used in my stories with permission from Jake H Voronkov.

The scene where Eda first meets Luz is taken directly from the first episode of "The Owl House" ("A Lying Witch and a Warden").

Vortex Manipulator is from "Doctor Who".
